This may be the oddest review of any business, ever, let alone one with a reputation like Yves Saint Laurent. To wit, a purchase was made in September and the item had to be sent from another store. The person handling the transaction said a phone call would be received when it was ready for pick up. That phone call was never received and due to 100% global travel for work, as well as life, the item was forgotten. Now, getting ready for tax season and going through all financial activities, the transaction was remembered and now appears to be *way* past the time period allowed for disputing the transaction. read more

When arriving at the store my parents and I were told there would be a little wait. After three people exited the store we were still not allowed in. We were clearly discriminated against based on our attire, we were wearing workout clothes and baseball caps. We took our business down the block to another boutique that did not DISCRIMINATE. Horrible rude, bad advice and bad custormer service: My husband visited the store to purchase a bag I'd been eyeing, but the salesperson convinced him to buy a weird cross-body bag that's more suited to a teenager than a middle-aged woman. Unfortunately, he waited until our anniversary to give it to me--three days after the 30-day return window had closed. On the fourth day past the deadline, I called the Chicago location where the purchase was made. I was told that since I haven't spent enough there to qualify as a VIP customer, they wouldn't exchange the bag--not even for store credit. I even offered to buy a much more expensive purse on the spot, but that didn't matter to them for someone who shops occasionally. I reiterated that I'd happily accept store credit and purchase an even pricier item, but it fell on deaf ears: it was four days past the return policy, and as a non-"important" client, no exceptions would be made. One thing is certain--after this dismal experience with their customer service, neither I nor my family will ever become one of their valued clients. On top of pushing my husband into a $1,700 bag that makes no sense for an adult woman, they refused to take it back just four days late--likely because they don't want it cluttering their inventory. Bad advice compounded by appalling customer service. I'll never shop there again, and I've already warned my husband, daughter, and best friend to steer clear as well. This kind of behavior is mind-boggling and wouldn't happen at their Munich store, the Boca location within Neiman Marcus, or the Palm Beach outpost. read more

This is directed towards the outlet location. First time visiting ysl at this location and I'll tell you I never felt more of an outcast in my life. They were def prejudice. So they were only allowing like 4 guests in at a time. So, when my cousin, her son and I entered. No one asked me or my cousin if we needed anything. I walked around for about 10 min and still no one asked. Eventually, two other guest entered and they were Greeted and asked if they needed anything. Keep in mind that they were white or foreign. It's been a while since I've experienced prejudice but it's so funny to me because I know that I make more money than these sales people. Even if I wanted something I would never buy or visit this location again. Not to mention, a few of the employees were standing at the door having a conversation. After having an unpleasant experience at another store(different brand) I came to this YSL a little concerned if I might be treated the same way. But instead I was treated so well. Absolutely A+mazing shopping experience! My girl Courtney was on the hunt for a new bag. These sales consultants were all incredibly knowledgeable and thorough in explaining the various ways the bags can be styled. Because Courtney and I are both fashionistas, it was important that we felt as though the associates could grasp an idea of our personality and style just from how we were behaving in the store and how we were both dressed at the time. I absolutely love the simplicity of the store's design. I see this often in top shelf boutiques. The racks aren't crowded. The selection is limited and displayed impeccably. When I went to use it after 3 weeks, I noticed dry glue on it on 2 spots. I called them and had to go back (3 hr trip) to get it cleaned. SUCH AN AMAZING EXPERIENCE AT SAINT LAURENT THIS WEEK! I had reached out a week before my trip to have help with a personal shopper. Lexi was such an amazing help and texted me through HER personal phone number to make sure they had every bag I wanted to take a look at. This being my first luxury bag, it was such an amazing experience. Lexi sadly had something popped up but she set me up with the most amazing manager Elisabeth Raunch. Not only was she kind but she was understanding of me having to try on the bags multiple times to finally figure out which one I wanted. I'm writing this post to share an experience that I recently had at the Saint Laurent store in Chicago as a warning to future SL customers. On 9/21/15, I bought a tuxedo from Saint Laurent for $4,096 for my wedding in October. I was scheduled for an evening fitting, but called the store to let them know that I was running late due to work. When I arrived, rather than informing me that the tailor had left, and that I would have to reschedule my fitting, my salesperson, Becky Russell, sent in someone posing as a tailor. He proceeded to mark up my suit. I quickly realized that this guy hadn't the faintest idea what he was doing. I questioned him, Ryan Gola, the manager, and he embarrassingly confessed that he wasn't a tailor. Luckily, I caught this as it happened. Sadly, this was only the beginning of the comedy of errors and lies that is SL. On the day of my wedding, my tuxedo ripped across the back as I bent to help my fiance with her dress. I couldn't believe it. I honestly didn't know what to do--this was during my wedding reception. My family and I scrambled around to find someone with a sewing kit. Thankfully, one of the photographers was able to help sew the back of the tux to make it presentable. The entire incident was so utterly embarrassing--little did all the guests know that I spent over $4,000 for this cheaply-constructed suit. After the wedding, I called Saint Laurent to explain what had happened. I spoke with the salesperson, Becky Russell, who conveyed that she couldn't do anything, but would let the Manager/Assistant Store Director, Ryan (i.e., the fake tailor), know. Buyer beware: once the sale has been made at SL, you're on your own. This is the big difference between other high-end companies and Saint Laurent. The level of customer service, or even of basic human decency that you would expect when you buy a luxury item, just isn't here. Good luck to you if the item is found defective, misconstructed, or their in-house "tailors" do not fit your item of clothing correctly. I repeat: you're on your own. Ryan Gola, the manager who assumed responsibility after the salesperson deferred to him, was generally impossible to get ahold of. Ultimately, after multiple calls, I got through to Ryan. He said to bring in the tux, which I did. Here's where things get even worse. Ryan took a picture of the ripped tux and said he would escalate to Corporate. Ryan then promised to call me back on a certain day, and does not call back for days. Ultimately I go to the store to speak to him only to find the tux already sewn up--without my permission. This was the store's cover-up resolution: sewing up the tux and handing it back to me, claiming that "these things happen." "These things," as in the manager of the store pretending to be a tailor, the tux being fitted incorrectly and ripping on my wedding day, taking three weeks to escalate the issue to Corporate, failing to return many of my or my family's calls and/or putting us on hold till we're forced to hang up, and then ultimately bearing no real responsibility?? It's just so shameful. Word to the wise: don't spend your money here. I have literally never had a worst customer experience. The people that work here are downright dishonest, and their actions fraudulent. Moreover, the clothes are not the level of quality that you would expect for what you spend. God forbid something were to happen after you've given them your money, as it did for me. Having given up on dealing with the store, I have decided to take the company to small claim's court, and have reported the incident to the Better Business Bureau. read more

I love SLP Chicago. I have always had amazing customer service from Chelsea and the rest of the team. Chelsea always gives me her honest opinion. Has an amazing eye for style. She's fun to shop with and also follows up and keeps in contact so I know when there are sales events or any new items in. I live all the way in WI and I feel like I never miss out thanks to her. Stay away from this place. The below review that says they are dishonest and fraudulent is dead on. I went looking for a bag and was deciding between ysl and Chanel. The salesperson Sergio told me I could return one I found within 30 days then had me sign a special card for the return. I go back 9 days later as I decided on another bag, and they refuse to return it and said the card I signed was for the warranty. They also told me the return policy was on the receipt and sign near the register. My purchase was rung up nowhere near the register and I was only given the top credit card receipt to sign, the one with the full return policy was put in an envelope so I could not see it. When I called there they completely lied about what they did, then lied about the manager being there when they told me minutes before he was gone. I am pursuing legal action against them as they can not get away with this. Stay far away from them- especially Sergio in sales and Ashley the assistant manager. read more

It's sad to say my friends rather shop in NY or Cali before going to this location; after my recent experience I would have to agree. I had a terrible experience with Chelsea. I wanted a bag and granted I called at 6:59pm and they were closing so I can excuse the lack of enthusiasm that night. However, when I gave her my cell to look into things for me, I was optimistic for a better outcome. Due to her lack of response and me having to follow up with her, I decided to take matters into my own hands. I called a store in Cali (Alyssa in Santa Clara) who went above and beyond to get me the bag I wanted. I indeed ended up getting the bag I wanted from the California store but would have like to shop with my hometown store. read more

I bought a backpack at this place around a month ago. I really liked the backpack except one of the zipper pull was missing. Later I found out it was around $200 cheaper online... I cannot return it due to store policy. However, the main issue I was having was the attitude of one of the salesperson. I brought everything with me when I went to change the backpack, including receipt and the outside bag(only a week after the original purchase). When I told them one of the zipper pull was missing, the first thing the guy asked me was whether I purchased the backpack from them. It made me feel they don't care about their customer and don't care about their product quality. I also don't quite understand why online purchase could be returned, but in-store purchase could not. read more

I visited the Saint Laurent store in Chicago and found it to be a truly pleasurable experience. I worked with several different employees and they were all incredibly personable, enjoyable to work with, and down to earth, unpretentious, and welcoming. The store itself was very pleasant (be sure to check out the "hall of mirrors" dressing room, which has to be experienced to be believed) and the staff was wonderful in their willingness to show me special items in the back that weren't on the floor. Saint Laurent Chicago won my enthusiastic business- I will look forward to continued patronage. Special thanks goes to Chelsea McGrath and doubly especially Scott, who stepped in and, despite being a stock person, fooled me handily in his work as a sales associate while other patrons occupied the formal sales staff. From the outside, the store looks very interesting. They have a cool black and white look. The inside is very modern and well designed. It has marble on the floor and walls with black shelves. The salespeople were very helpful. Th store is a little small, which limits the amount of merchandise. Overall it was a great experience and I definitely recommend it. read more
