For those who have never had the pleasure of shopping in Marlowe:
1) Yes, it is expensive - along the lines of all other quality, timeless clothiers like Escada, St. John, Louis Vuitton, Gucci.
2) The quality is excellent, timeless and virtually seasonless. You will look just as good in 7 years in your suit, slacks or dress you purchase at Marlowe as you did the day you bought it if properly cared for. You will still be getting compliments many years after purchasing your outfits. I get that all the time and some of my items are 7, 8 years old and still look fresh and new.
3) The staff is young, polite and trained to sell. I am thrilled that they are trained to sell because I would have missed a dress that will likely end up being a classic favorite in my closet. I would never have chosen it for myself but as I tried on a suit and a few other separates she brought it in and said "keep an open mind", so I did. And you know what? It looked like a classic Victoria Beckham dress that would have cost $4200 but this dress was just under $1000 on sale. Yes, it's a lot of money, but if I wear it for 8 or 10 years then it was actually a value when comparing it with a $150 dress I might buy at a department store and only wear for a year or so.
4) So, keep an open mind, if you are into investment wardrobes, classic pieces and superior fabrics and quality you will really like Marlowe. The staff was incredibly nice to me and they were young and attractive. Unlike Neiman's or some other stores where I sometimes feel I am not up to their standards as a client, Marlowe made me feel worthy and relaxed to be there on a snowy day in my jeans. read more
