I'm a guy, so there is nothing for me to buy at Squasht. However, my girlfriend LOVES this place, so I'll be coming back here often! And actually, I love Squasht too. Leslie has EXCELLENT taste, and there are always the most beautiful things on display, with amazing fabrics and elements, for example, in the jewelry. Often she carries items that are nature-focused or created with sustainable materials. All in all, I'm very happy that my sweet GF has chosen a place I enjoy visting and feel good buying from! read more

I've never been a big boutique shopper because I've always found it kind of intimidating. Squasht totally converted me! It's so accessible, size inclusive, and welcoming. And they have such a beautifully curated selection of brands. My favorite clothes and jewelry are from here. And now they even carry indie perfume! read more

Lesley the owner is excellent at finding the coolest prints, that makes me smile. The prints are on trend, without being trendy, and can be worn for years. I've never walked out of the store empty handed or unhappy. There's always something new and fresh to find!! read more

alwaysalways 10 stars! the quality, selection, customer care...i order from afar and they are my go-to shopping experience.

I haven't lived in Chicago for over 15 years, but I STILL shop at Squasht regularly! Love to support small, woman-owned, local businesses!!!

A dress is a lovely, feminine item of clothing, and it reduces the number of decisions you have to make each morning. Put on a dress, a pair of tights and boots and BAM, you're ready to go break some hearts. If you are a dress novice, Squasht by Les is a good place to start. I picked up my fav, a little navy blue and red striped number, at Les' loft in September. I loved it so much that I bought one with the same design and different fabric at Wolfbait & B-girls. And! Most of her dresses are between $118-130. She also has many hats, including those furry aviators that are the thing this season. I looked like a bag lady when I tried on one of these, but they are très adorable on young girls. read more

I love squasht boutique and the welcoming vibe the staff and space they created brings to the neighborhood. They support local artists which is one of my favorite things about them AND they are right down the block from my favorite gym The Garage Chicago. Definitely recommend. read more

There is no way I can go to Squasht without buying something. I started shopping here for the hats, but the clothing and jewelry are also so great. They carry items from various small businesses, from jewelry to clothing to candles. If you are looking to support a small, woman owned business, stop in. Not only are you supporting Lesley and her cute shop, but you're also supporting the great independent designers she carries. read more

I absolutely LOVE Squasht Boutique! From the fun accessories to the unique clothing, there is definitely something for ALL fashionista's! What a really love is that they support local artists and small batch items, which I'm ALL about. I never have to worry I'll run into someone with the same thing and I always get tons of compliments on the cute items I pick up here. During this pandemic, they are still open online and I highly recommend you go check them out and pick up a fun treat for yourself! read more

I bought a Squasht hat at a street festival probably ten years ago. Best hat I've ever owned. Then I dropped it three years ago while shopping and only recently thought to see if Squasht had an online presence. Hallelujah, they do! Replaced my hat and also bought a really lovely dress (on clearance!). I cannot say enough good things about Squasht. The quality is top-notch and the style is fantastic. The hat is the warmest, best winter hat I've ever owned (it's the Darby). And the dress is just beautiful. I can't wait for spring so I can wear it. Again, truly great quality, style, and also amazing customer service. I'm looking forward to visiting the physical boutique post-covid (though my wallet may not agree!) read more

The gods of local gifting smiled upon me (and several of my nearest and dearest) last night... With 30 minutes before a date at Kai Zan (across the street - another 5-star review to follow!) my mum and I made a quick stop at Squasht. I didn't know quite what to expect, but several signs beckoning us in to shop sealed the deal. Side point, really nice to see a boutique open past 530 or 6! Allows me more time to throw my money at them! We were greeted warmly and enthusiastically by the owner (Les) like we were old friends or regulars. We then proceeded to poke through the lovely assortment of gift-like items. The majority of the store is accessories (earrings, hair, socks, wallets/leather goods, necklaces, etc) and clothing (tees, dresses, etc). Everything is handmade and locally in Chicago, at that. Given these descriptors I'm sure you thought (as I did) that it would be crazy expensive. And in fact, it is not! Everything is extremely reasonable. Prices vary a bit artist to artist, but overall I found the pricing on par with the quality and style-factor found in the collections. Les was also super helpful in locating certain items without being pushy at all. You can tell she is extremely passionate about her store and her customers. It made for a great shopping experience. My haul: For myself: *2 Megan Lee tees. 1: Midwest is Best! (in a heart) and 2. Do What You Love. ($26/ea) *a beautiful wallet made with an antique key ($38) For a pending nephew: *2 Megan Lee onesies: doggie and giraffe! ($18/each) For my gal pal: *Amazing kitty shawl/eternity scarf. (price withheld, she's a yelper!) Loved all the jewelry, could easily pick out gifts for a number of people here. The holidays are coming, do yourself (and the local economy/artist community) a favor and get yourself over here to see how many folks you can check off the list. *credit accepted *easy parking read more

As someone who can barely thread a needle, I am in awe of people who can create an entire article of clothing. I entered Squasht on a whim, and liked the cheery items and friendly shopkeeper. I wasn't searching for anything in particular, but ended up loving a loose-knit and delicate slouchy black and white sweater, which has become a staple in my winter wardrobe. The jewelry was all beautiful, but I had to intervene and shut up the little devil on my shoulder whispering in my ear to buy it all. Luckily not before purchasing a lovely necklace for my sister-in-law. Both were splurges, but very reasonable considering the quality. Loved that this boutique offers handmade clothing and goods, with zero pomp or 'tude. Chicago is a bit far from California, but I have their online store open in the next tab and may or may not have something in my cart already! Shhh... read more

I love, love, LOVE my Squasht dress!! I came in on a whim and Les helped me find a beautiful blue-black striped cotton dress. It fit like it was made for me, and made me feel beautiful, feminine, and fun. I love that all her dresses have pockets, too! She will alter the dress to fit you so that it truly is "made to order". I hope her boutique sticks around because it is dangerously close to my apartment and her clothes are just perfect. My dress was $75, but I did pass by yesterday and she had a sale rack out with everything marked down to $50 or less. So tempting...go shop now! read more

I have to recommend this great little boutique to anyone looking for original pieces to add to their wardrobe. I was there last for a trunk show for one of the independent jewelry designers that consigns there. I didn't end up with any jewelry, but I did walk out with a fabulous winter hat created by Les. The boutique has a selection of hats, dresses, skirts, hats, and headbands designed by Les; as well as jewelry from other local designers. You can also find Les at many of the local street fairs so keep your eyes peeled. read more

I first fell in love with Squasht Boutique when I came across the Squasht slouch hats at a street fest. The material/style of the hats drew me in.The owner Lesley Timpe was wonderful! She showed me the different ways to style the hat and was a pleasure to talk to. A couple weeks later I went to see the actual boutique. I never get over to Ukrainian Village much and I have to go back and visit. Lots of cute shops in the area and the best part parking is free on the streets. The store itself is pretty big for a boutique. Besides her own clothing line she sells other locally handmade designer items. I like the affordability. It appeared most of the items were $150 or less. The clothes are updated for the season and the items are so unique. This will definitely be a place I go back to for myself and cool gifts for my girls. read more

I am a designer that has my accessory brand at Squasht, but I am also a shopper. It's impossible to drop off my merchandise at Squasht without also picking up some cute items. Their stock is always new and updated. I've bought neckalaces, sunglasses, bracelets for myself and also as gifts. I am surprised and drooling every time I stop by. The owner, Lesley, is the most kind and down to earth sales person. And I can always find free parking - how often can you say that in Chicago?! read more

It took me a while to visit this local shop that's literally right around the corner from me. I saw a pair of wood-cut earrings in the window recently and knew I had to make them mine. And make them mine I did, but not before checking out what Squasht had to offer - locally produced, independent apparel and accessories. The selection is a bit small, but everything is made with love, right here in Chicago. Although the hats and the dresses weren't really my style, I loved the earring selection and will definitely be back for more! read more

I love Squasht! I lived down the street from this chic boutique years ago and it was my first stop when I wanted something fresh and quality. Now that I've moved out of the state, I still order tasty pieces and have them shipped my way. The styles, customer service and overall positive vibes make Squasht a MUST RECOMMEND to anyone local to Chicago or ordering online. The clothing lasts and I feel good about wearing it. I love the reversible hats, quilted skirt and jewelry by Michelle Starbuck! read more

This is such a cute store in Ukrainian Village! I made my first stop there to night and bought a super cute winter hat. If you are in need of cute winter hats as part of you retail therapy for living in Chicago during the winter you MUST stop by Squashed!! It's worth the trip. Leslie (sp?) the owner has tons of super cute and unique clothes and accessories. If you're looking for cool, hip yet casual clothing that is reasonably priced STOP HERE!! read more

Feel so lucky that I stumbled on this place while visiting from out of town. Many irresistible things, clothes and accessories, to be had here - locally made by Les and other designers. Nothing can beat the satisfaction of buying directly from the designer. I specially loved some very fun serged knit dresses - stripes and color blocks smartly pieced together from scrap fabric. So great to pick up a dress that I feel excited to wear to the theater that same night, that's comfortable enough to sleep in and I can imagine wearing frequently at work and biking to the beach. What?! Go there now and see for yourself. Fun and easy to wear jewelry, tights, leggings, headbands, hats too. read more

A total gem! Personalized customer service on demand never waivers. Handmade clothes, curated accessories, and great up-cycled pieces make this beautiful boutique a frequent stop for those seeking unique, local-made, and timeless additions to their wardrobes. Great for gifts too! read more

I probably own too many Squasht pieces, but in this case I don't mind looking like a cheerleader. The store also has a number of other local independent designers that make pretty much everything you could ever need, from basics to party dresses to sweaters to accessories. Prices vary all over the map as each designer sets their own prices, and use all kinds of techniques and materials, but there's rarely anything in the store over $200, so there's definitely something for everyone! read more

Perfect! I am driving past rockwell and chicago avenue one evening before Chrismas and i see a corner store with signs that appeal to me Local, Independant designers, Hand Made I stop in and Les introduces herself, the artist of most of the items in the store. Almost everything made in her store is hand crafted right here in Chicago. She also carries items from her friends back home in St Louis. Creating art, creating jobs, creating better communities. Thanks for showing us the blue print Les. read more

The shop owner provides superb customer service...I asked to exchange an item for a different size and when the item was not in the store, she contacted the designer who delivered it the next day. Interesting designs at sensible prices! read more

I have never been a hat person. I love hats but have never been able to find one that looked right on my head. All that changed when I met Les at Squasht! With the varied sizes and adorable design I can finally be the hat person I always wanted to be. Plus the are all reversible so it is great to get two hats in one! They not only have great, actually flattering, hats, but they also have awesome, totally unique clothes and accessories. I don't think I have ever worn anything from Squasht without getting a handful of complements. Great shop, great customer service, and awesome finds! read more

I'm continually surprised by this place. The jewelry is phenomenal, the handmade clothes are amazing and the customer service is above par. I had an issue with a top that I had purchased and Lesley, the owner, was accommodating and we came to a great resolution. She listened to my problem and was really trying to solve it. I loved shopping here before, but now I love it even more. You should go here, not only for the selection and the curated clothes and jewelry, but because Lesley really cares about her customers and is willing to go that extra mile to make sure they're completely satisfied. read more

You love cute and unique? You swear by local? You like your shopping with a side of dog petting? Squasht is the place for you!! Discovered two years ago at the Renegade Fair (a hat display is always a sure way to catch my eye, which is fine if you gently let it go unharmed after a couple of minutes), Squasht has become a regular stop of my shopping rotation. They have an amazing collection of my favorite things: dresses, hats (yes, again!), tights and jewelry. Each piece is locally made by lovely Chicagoan digits, and scream originality. Last spring, I bought brass clock hands turned earrings for $15. Believe me, you don't see that every day, on every lobe. The super cool designer, Lesley Timpe, brings a European vibe to her seasonal collection, and favors organic soy-cotton, pima cotton in vintage 1980s prints, vintage velveteen, imported Italian wool, and silk tweed. Lots of nature-inspired motifs and no crappy rayon to deal with. She only offers the real deal. Garments are pretty, versatile, soft to the touch and happy. Yes, happy! Prices are a bit steep if you are used to thrift stores or mass-produced items but it's worth shedding a few extra bucks on quality pieces. Also, sizes run on the smaller side so get rid of your holiday fat before stopping by.....you won't regret it. Tips: - they have an online boutique, with free shopping over $50, and are sold in over 20 retailer boutiques over the country (including one in L.A.!) - street parking is super easy; to make a total Ukie Village experience out of it, stop at Star Lounge for coffee, get some borscht at Schokolad or eat one of the best sushis in town at Kai Zan - plan your trip carefully!!! They close at 5 pm during the weekend. A definite bummer but, oh well, nobody's perfect. read more

Great shop. Very nice and reasonable price for items. Nothing made in China. All handmade. Quality. Very unique items. Lesley is a doll. We had a lot of fun. Definitely worth a look. You will not be disappointed if looking for hats, gloves, scarfs, jewelry. Has some clothes too read more

I bought the cutest dress at the Spring One of a Kind Show. I loved the luxurious material and fit and cute pattern. The dress was a little long for my purposes so the owner offered to hem it gratis and mail it to me. The dress was delivered promptly as promised, wrapped so cute and protectively. I can't wait to wear it and go to the actual store. Highly recommend checking out this store! read more

this is the first time i've ever bought a dress and worn it out of the store. it was that cute. it also helped that two random people who wandered into the store while i was trying it out complimented me on how flattering it was. don't judge, i'd been studying the whole day at Sip coffee over on Grand, and it got too warm for my sweater and jeans. apparently this kind of thing happens when you pop into a cute boutique "to look for a mother's day gift". anyways, les the owner was so nice, and helped me pick out a few dresses to try on. i was there by myself, so i asked her opinion on how they looked, and i thought that she was honest in the fit/overall look, not just saying that everything looked great in order to try to push the sale. also she offered to do alterations, the straps on a great dress were just a little too long (but i ended up getting another one instead). for me, and probably for many fellow students, the clothing is a bit out of my price range for everyday items, but a DEFINITE for special occasions/splurges. lots of unique pieces! the accessories are also super cute and there's certainly more affordable pieces there. i'd love to go back whenever i need a unique gift for "mother's day" or "a friend's birthday." in case you're wondering, i DID actually get a mother's day gift as well, and les (knowing this was a gift, and without me asking) carefully wrapped it in teal tissue paper, and placed in a nice gift bag adorned with ribbons for me. read more

Though the store doesn't carry a wide selection of men's apparel, all of the women I know absolutely love this boutique. I've been shopping at Squasht for years and I love the store! I moved out of state last year and still buy the cute stuff I see on Squasht's FB wall. Leslie is a phenomenal person. To wit: she buys handmade, local stuff 99 percent of the time! She designs the clothing in the shop herself AND has it created in Chicago. It's quality, cute, and you know who made your clothes - they're in the same city as you! I had a great conversation with her today and got to hear all about the Lost Coast Trail in NorCal. It was probably my favorite part of the day as a tourist in Chicago. Bonus points for Komoda and a sweet little ice cream store being just across the street. read more
