I am a life long customer of Grandstand and am sorry to say this company has lost my business. After purchasing a hat I later found to be defective, the owner refused to give me an exchange or refund starting the hat had been worn a which it clearly hadn't. I buy new gear here every spring and have never had a customer service issue with regular employees. I try to support small businesses over online ordering but it's tough when a jersey purchase from here is more expensive and a permanent decision since they won't take a return on it. (This was shared upon checkout so they did make it clear at the time - the point is this isn't something I have to think about other places I buy from). I came here on my way to a Sox game to get a jersey, hoping to find one that was cheaper than what I was seeing online. I was able to find a kid's size M jersey that fit pretty well for around $70. Not bad considering that the adult women's ones I saw online were over $100. They also have mercy for all other Chicago teams and a whole lot of other types of merch ranging from hats to cups to banners. Staff was super helpful. While the battle of "Los osos vs. Los ciudadanos" was on-going at the Wrigley Field, the south-siders were prepping for the night game vs. the other Sox team from New England. While wondering on the 35th. St., I spotted "Grandstand Limited" on the southwest corner of Wallace and 35th. I wasn't expecting a lot of Cubs gears, but this store is quite inclusive with all sports teams in Chicago: the Bulls, the Bears, the Blackhawks, the White Sox, and "Da Cubs." The sales associates were approachable and helpful with my inquiry on cap sizing and the style I was searching for. The prices were what I would expect at a store that sells licensed merchandise. I sorta appreciated that the Cubs cap that hubby wanted was on sale. As long as it was simply deprecation to the value of the commodity, not to the team itself, I would be totally fine with it. That being said, they have an enormous selection of hats, so you're pretty much guaranteed to walk out with something. Im not exactly the xxl hockey fan. Got all my customizing filled out and was quoted at most a 2 week turnaround. I had put in the order on a wednesday and low and behold..I receive a phone call saturday morning of that same week; "your jersey is ready!" I was thrilled though I wouldnt be able to pick it up til the following weekend. Living on the northside and a full week of work..making a trek down to the southside isnt exactly a stop over. Early birthday present to myself..CHECK! 5 stars for the staff! The layout is great and everything is always neat, together and easily accessible. -0.5 : Prices can be beaten. Dont get me wrong..I love to support local business. Its places like grand stand that make it a pleasure. Bought a hat less than a week ago and mistakenly put it on right away in the car and took the stickers off before looking at myself in the mirror. Wore it for two hours and noticed it was deformed (ie had terrible noticeable lumps sticking up on the top of the hat). Kept the bag, receipt, and even stickers and thought I'd be able to exchange it for a replacement. They would not allow it. I have been going to Grandstand since I was a kid, so this pains me to say, but I will no longer be supporting or recommending this place any longer. Wasted $40 on a hat that I wore for two hours and will never wear again because of the quality. It is the principle as I know the people see me in there a fair amount. As a White Sox-obsessed kid growing up 3 hours from Chicago, Grandstand was always some sort of magical, far-away store that I imagined spending entire days in. Now that I live in Chicago and can get there fairly-easily, Grandstand has managed to maintain their mystique. As other Yelpers have mentioned, no one can touch Grandstand's inventory. There are items that are literally only available there, as the store has contracts with many manufacturers to create merchandise specifically for the store. I'm a huge jersey nerd, and Grandstand has a great selection of authentic Sox, Cubs, Bears, Bulls and Hawks jerseys. The majority of lettering is done in-house, and they do it better than their competitors (Triple Threat Sports, I'm looking at you). Grandstand's biggest strength is their customer service. It's a family-run business that will bend over backwards to help you, just as long as you're not a self-important jerk. I've spent many hours discussing sports with everyone there to the point where I consider them friends. Prices can be high on some items, but jerseys and hats are fairly consistent with online shops and stores you'll find in the mall. After games, you can expect to wait in line for 5-10 minutes or so, so I always try to make my trips before first pitch. Forget picking up gear at the ballpark or from MLB's website; just head to Grandstand and you'll find everything you need...and then some. read more

Not to sure about the "Limited" part in the store's name. It did not seem at all limited when it came to White Sox merchandise. This somewhat small corner store is filled to the brim with any kind of Sox gear imaginable. From retro to today, you can find it here, I'm"m sure. Also thrown in is a bit of Blackhawks, Bulls, and (unfortunately) Cubs paraphernalia. You can get authentic game jerseys with your own name stitched on, but. like anywhere, it's going to cost a bit. On average though, everything found in this store is on par, or even a little less than the prices you would pay in the ballpark. One thing this place has, that you will not find at the Cell, though, is a clearance rack! It may be hard to find, and it's only one rack, but the discounts are drastic. I was able to get a 1/2 way to St. Paddy's day warm-up jacket, and a white polo with the black logo, all for just $40. I don't think I could beat that deal anywhere else. The hours posted show the place closed on Sunday, but if there is a game going on on Sunday, damned sure this place will be open and doing a good business. read more

Greatest Sox store in the city. They have EVERYTHING you could possibly imagine for a White Sox fan. Also pretty reasonably priced for a store (you can always find cheaper stuff on the Internet, but it's definitely better than the MLB store and ballpark prices).
