This is a good option if you are looking for Champps food but that's about it. The prices are overpriced, the service is terrible and they are not attentive at all. Case in point. I sat down and the wait staff didn't even acknowledge me. I started looking at the menu and 5 minutes later, someone walked in and they passed me to attend to the new customer. I had to flag them down after they finished with the new customer to ask for service. The food is okay for the airport but if you have a chance to go further down the terminal, I prefer Coney Island or the TGiFridays for sit down or the Earl of Sandwich for a carry out meal. Food is better, service is more accommodating and the prices are more competitive. read more

The fish sandwich (see pic) is a total grease bomb presented in the classic IDGAF tradition of crappy airport restaurants everywhere. Avoid unless starving. Even then - consider it twice. Then the manager comes by, asks if everything is ok. My response is a headshake and enthusiastic "No". His response? A smile and thumbs up? WTH? When ringing out (without a bite taken) he comes by again and asks if I want a box! To which I say "Hell no!" He then says, "Whats the matter?" I reply "Look at it." Located in Detroit Metro North, the non-Delta wing, across from Gate 8. Servers are pretty quick and friendly. Was served in less than 10 minutes. (Hint: if it's a sit down restaurant it's going to take a bit longer... Mcdonalds is down the hall if you cannot wait!) Lots if open seating, so seat yourself. Music is loud and fun without being too overbearing. Lots if seats at the bar, and tons of TVs! Food was quick and hot, fries were great! My fiance got the chicken Alfredo, which Cage with bell pepper, spinach, and mushrooms.. good bc other places don't put any veggies in Alfredo at all. This place is located across from the Lufthansa lounge, and is pretty much the only restaurant on the United wing of DTW. The service is fast and friendly. There are several tvs around, which all seemed to be playing CNN, or ESPN. Well some days service and food are excellent. Some days it misses the mark. Today was one such day. I decided to try the breakfast entre here. Since am on the 6:45am till 3:30pm shift. Went into Chammps and sat down. Almost immediately the one and only waitress was there, wiping down my table while taking my order. I ordered the made to order ham, bacon and sausage omelette and a diet pepsi to wash down the food with. Service still excellent I thought, since have only a 30 minute span to get my break in. The Pepsi arrived almost immediately, with a lemon on the rim of the glass. Nice touch. The food took about 10 minutes. The sausages were over cooked to the point of chewing through bricks. The ham felt like rubber, and ample bacon. There was at least a gallon of oil used to make this special treat. I still finished my breakfast and ran out of there. Had to get to the men's room to wash down my mouth from all that oil. While returning back to where I work, I see the manager of the store walking in. I explained my experience and he apologized. Seems his cook recently had a death in the family, just returned back to work. Can't prosecute a man for that! read more

Hi Champps I was at the north terminal location at DTW. I had a terrible experience. It's just not a well run restaurant. I stopped here with plenty of time for an airport location - 40 minutes. The restaurant was steady, but not that busy. I watched one waitress serve the couple next to me. A different waitress serve the customer behind me. I couldnt make eye contact to get anyones attention. First waittress brought the couple next to me their drinks. I called to her but she walked away. Finally a waittress seeing me looking around asked me if i needed anything. I ordered and about 10 minutes later she brought me the wrong drink (beer, i ordered a cocktail). Another 10 minutes and still no drink (or food). I see it on the bar and wait another 5 minutes and go ask the bartender for it myself. As im drinking my drink, my waittress came by and said "Ok good. You got your drink" your salad will be right up." I told her that I'm sorry i have to go. She walked away from me and shouted to her colleagues "I'm done. Why are people in such a hurry today?" I put $15 on the counter and walked out. I wasn't in a hurry. I gave the restaurant 40 minutes of my time. I would have expected an offer of, "can I get that for you to go?" Again. I dont blame this particular waitress. She seemed busy and a bit overwhelmed. But she also had several colleagues standing around. And she appeared to have tables all over the place. Didn't seem to be clear sections for employees. Don't waste your time here. read more

I don't typically expect a lot from a restaurant at the airport but they didn't even live up to the low expectations. They got busy after we got there. We ordered our meals and it took a long time to get our food. When we finally got it, our son only got his fries because the kitchen screwed up. He eventually got his sliders too but by then he was full. I ordered the Reuben sandwich which was OK. Exactly what you expect for airport food (overpriced and mediocre). When my wife and I ordered we expected waffle fries based on the review by another fellow yelper. However, we were disappointed when we saw regular fries in our plastic basket. We asked the waitress and she mentioned they don't have waffle fries. Service was also very slow. Our water was never refilled even after asking. I guess they are used to customers that like to avoid airplane bathrooms at all cost. If you're hungry I guess it's an option to fill your belly before your flight. read more

I was starving in the Detroit airport and about to get on a flight back home to Chicago and figured I'd stop in here for lunch as it was close to the gate. It was absolutely disgusting. I sat at the bar for quick service and got a turkey burger on a gluten free bun (props for having GF offerings). The turkey burger resembled these chicken patties I used to eat in my college dorm. There was no way there was real meat in there. The service, while friendly, was slow and off-putting. My server was reapplying her makeup behind the bar - she had her makeup case and hair brush sitting out on the bar. I'm no expert, but I imagine that has to be a health code violation. The only positive I can say is that the sweet potato fries helped fill me up and I didn't get sick. Avoid at all costs. read more

Went in to watch the MSU vs. U of M game on their large tvs. The televisions inside were about the only good part of this place. We ordered some fries, my husband ordered a beer, and we sat back to watch the game. We had intended to eat some fries, and then see if we were still hungry for more appetizers, but after the fries came out we thought better of it. The fries weren't cooked all the way through, were cold, and completely unseasoned. Now, I love french fries. I can forgive a great many ill-cooked fries because they are still my favorite food, but these were almost inedible. Our server was alright, he seemed more attentive towards the end of our stay, but he did make sure that my drink was refilled and was friendly enough. We did hang out for a while (wanted to see the end of the game!) but if it wasn't for the football game and tv we would have been out of there fast! read more

Even the server seemed to understand the mistake, however Vincent refused to admit an obvious mistake and remove the item. Shame on me for not reading the reviews on yelp before sitting down I paid $17 (including tip) for the egg white omelette and hash browns. The eggs were SO greasy I ate two bites before feeling disgusting. The hash browns were nice and crispy but it's kinda hard to screw up that. I tried to eat the wheat toast and after one bite I had to stop because it was literally DRENCHED in butter. The butter spewed out of the piece of toast and ran down my fingers. For airport food, this was a descent breakfast. I had the breakfast quesadilla. Was pretty good. Even had salsa, sour cream, and guacamole! I also ordered the hash browns. The only reason I would come back to this one, and the reason they are getting 2 stars instead of 1, is because of the manager Brad. 2 bartenders, Kristine and a blonde heavyset (didn't catch her name) were rather rude. Kristine was very impersonable, until I asked for a manger and the other one was just flat out rude when I asked if she could change the tv station. Food was ok, except the sweet potato fries were ice cold, but brad made it right. I felt as if I was inconvenience to Kristine when I told her my food was cold. What miserable servers. If you're looking for quick service, take your business elsewhere. The staff is less than friendly and attentive. I ordered the wings as an appetizer that claimed to have came with celery (it did not) but the wings were crispy and came with the sauce on the side which was nice. I also ordered the fries that came out cold and soggy. When I first sat myself, the table was dirty and it took the waitress about 15 minutes to pull a blue moon from the draft at the bar. I was sitting within an earshot of the bar and the bartender seemed like a miserable woman who had NO customer service or etiquette. I will say, I did have a server, Jessica, who was nice when she came to my table but again, less than attentive for someone who's looking to catch their flight. I'm a little surprised by the overall low reviews here. I stopped in here with two other people before our flight and we were able to grab 3 spots at the bar. For an airport bar / restaurant, they definitely had a solid draft selection. We started with an order of the pretzels and they were good (think TGI Friday's pretzels, if you've ever had them). For my meal, I went with the grilled buffalo chicken sandwich was good. It was nice and spicy and had plenty of blue cheese, too. It also came with fries. Everything was served hot and pretty quick. Stopped here before a flight and the first thing the server said was that there would be a 45 minute wait for food. We had time so we stopped anyway and put in our order right away. The glass of wine came out about 15 minutes after my boyfriend's beer, then my food order came out wrong. To finish things off, we got charged double. I asked for them to use a gift card then charge the balance to my credit card and somehow they charged the full amount to both cards. When I asked about it, the manager (I think) came over to help and was super rude to the employee and unapologetic to me. It was very chaotic. Eventually it got sorted out but it was way more difficult than it should have been.
