My only complaints were, they did not include plastic ware or napkins...I had to eat in the parking lot with my fingers, because I'm greedy and couldn't wait til I got home and I had to pick up my husband which he wanted to eat also after a long day on the road trucking...very disappointing; Do better for takeout customers. I felt the bartender that gave me my items could've been a bit friendlier. Maybe I'll send my husband in next time perhaps he will have a better experience. If I could leave zero stars, I would. Arrive at 505pm. Active, but not packed. We were able to easily get a booth and there were plenty of available tables. We sat, and sat...and sat. We asked a server if we could give our drink orders. She told us she was not our server, but will tell the server assigned to our section. Very reasonable. We sat and yet sat even more. Finally the server comes and we place our drink order. She gives us cocktail napkins for dinner and only two sets of silverware for 3 people. Gets the drink order wrong. We wait even more. Being semi regulars, we knew what we wanted for dinner and ordered as well. In the meantime, I watch a group of 6 guys sit at a dirty table in her same section. It was the only larger table. The other empty tables were only for 2 or 4. Again, empty, so the place was not super busy. It has been dirty awhile. After sitting awhile, these guys literally bussed their own table, wiped it down and found some menus nearby. Update...it's now 610p. No food. Drinks are dry. Not even a check in nor eye contact from the server. She seems more invested in chatting with another table than waiting on her customers or not even being in the section. An older gentleman from a nearby table comes over to us and states to me, 'you have a lot more patience than me. I would've complained big time by now'. So we wait more. The group were the gentleman was sitting is gathering to leave. Apparently they say something to their server, different than ours, and she states loudly and rudely, 'listen, I hear you but I've got 15 tables and I've tried helping her'. So now, she is feeling the pressure of another employee's neglectful performance. It's now 617p, the server brings the omitted place setting. We ask we're is our dinner and ask to se the manager. She gets loud and states that she will get the manager. The manager never comes. We ask the other server to se the manager. The manager finally comes, mind you, not quickly. Tell her what is stated in this review. The other table's comments. The table that had to clear and wipe their table and the other server feeling pressured. She stated our ticket shows that our food was brought out 40 mins ago. She also made comments, as if to defend herself, about the kitchen. I stated firmly, this is not a kitchen issue. This is a server and overall disorganization issue. She agreed and it is evident since the kitchen shows the ticket closed 40 mins ago. She promised to expedite our order. Nothing extravagant; 2 meatloaf specials and a Rueben. Nothing that takes extra time to prepare. And again we wait. While the manager is more focused being behind the bar dealing with carry out bags. What I just described seems to happen more and more. Food shoveled out and service is inconsistent. Let me say, not all the servers. Last week, Wednesday dinner at the tall tables at the bar, service and food were spot on. Disgusted, we leave. Drinks dry, no food. In the aforementioned, I stated we were semi-regulars. My hope is the owners see this review and understand this is not a one off review from someone who tried the place once. The server was bad. I mean bad. The entire place appeared disorganized. I am hugely into giving my money to small business. I dislike chains of any kind. But just because I, as well as others, are invested in patronizing small businesses, does not mean that we should tolerate bad service, bad behavior and not delivering on your product. The steak was cooked to perfection, the pieces were the perfect size, very tender, and by far the best steak sandwich I've ever had! Where has this place been my whole life? Fantastic Polish Food on "Polish Thursdays" and outstanding service in an impeccably clean restaurant! I had the stuffed cabbage dinner which comes with three stuffed cabbages, mashed potatoes, kapusta, and a roll. My meal did not disappoint! Best stuffed cabbage that I ever had, and I have had some fantastic stuffed cabbage. The golumpki reminded me of my grandmother's stuffed cabbage, as well as eating stuffed cabbage at the Polish Halls growing-up; just excellence in its execution of the dish. The kapusta is also fantastic (containing bacon, mushrooms, and green pepper). And outstanding mashed potatoes. This is a must try for lovers of stuffed cabbage. And my meal was served piping hot, as it should be - a huge plus in my book! Cannot wait to go back for "Meatloaf Tuesdays". My fellow Yelpers know that I have had some fantastic meals. Most of the food is amazing, I recommend the pulled pork sliders for sure. Most of the time, the wait is quite long though because it's really busy. One problem is that the items with corned beef (Reuben sandwich, etc) made multiple of my family member's stomachs really upset and had diahhrea a couple of hours after eating. read more

Haven't been in a while, but they make a fine burger. They are near the Animal Clinic so if you need to get away while waiting for your pet, this place and Culver's are your best bet. The Mickey d is crazy to get to get into, so forget them unless you are using Southfield to go south to get home. Northbound folk, you need to point north and find food. Every time that I visit home (Allen Park), I hit up the Wheat and Rye since it is just a block from my parents' house. Compared to when I lived in Allen Park about a decade ago, they did a good number of reservations; it's still not fancy, but seems much cleaner and less dated. They took the pool table away for a little bit, but it's back which is fun. All the food we have had has been good bar food, perhaps even exceptional at times. I really like the calamari caesar and the fried mushrooms are amazing. I have had the paninis, corned beef, reuben, steak, and a bunch of other random things; they're always exceptional. This isn't a fancy cocktail bar, but they have a few things on draft, often have multiple drink specials, and the margaritas were just $2 the last time I went there. Tried wheat and rye for the first time yesterday. What a disappointment. I ordered a Reuben because I heard they were massive. Well, yes they are massive but the only thing massive is the amount of bread. It's such a gimmick. You get the sandwich and it looks big until you see it up close and realize it's all bread and little meat. The corned beef was grilled which automatically tells me its low grade commercially processed corned beef. I took a bite and was overwhelmed with the saltiness of the corned beef and kraut. There was barely any dressing to help disguise the flavor of the rubbery corned beef and there was 1 slice of tasteless cheese for this bread sandwich. $16 for a mostly bread sandwich and fries without a drink. Well they fooled me once, but not again. Wait staff was friendly though, I'll give them that. read more

The food is ok and you get a lot of it for the price, but they more than make up for it with their beer prices. If my rating was based strictly on their food, they'd have three stars. The reason for the two stars: I was there with my wife for an early dinner. I had 2 draft M43 beers. Keep in mind these are pints and not bottles. Also keep in mind it's brewed in Michigan. That said, I almost had a heart attack when I saw my bill. THEY CHARGED $7.50 A PINT!!!! I asked the waitress if the price was correct. With a half smile she told me the price was correct and gave me a "Sorry." No - I'M sorry. Sorry for going in there and getting bent over on the price of a beer. If I'm going to spend top dollar on a beer, it's going to be for KBS, CBS, or something special. This place has no right (other greed or market ignorance) to charge what they charge for a "craft" beer. They need to do a little research and realize people are going to stop going there once they've been screwed. Do yourself (and your checkbook) a favor and go to bierkeller if you want a good beer selection. They don't charge top dollar for common beers. Better yet, run down to your local beer store and pick up a sixer of whatever you'd drink at wheat & rye. I'm sure you'll spend less than you would for 2 beers. It was a seat yourself kinda night, lots of families sitting together so my brother and I sat in a booth. Right away greeted by a nice funny waitress, Danielle. Brought us our drinks, gave us our specials menu. I was very wowed with the menu for a bar. My brother ordered the steak dinner, well done to perfection for him and I ordered the Alfredo special. O M G was that plate of pasta humongous. I mean who could finish that!! Good enough to feed a family of five! So I had a few bites and was full. Place was busy when we got here, was still able to get a seat. Our waitress was Shelby-she was awesome. The place wasn't really loud. We could hear each other talk. Music was playing in the background. We had the fried pickle chips to start with, they were tasty though the pickles could have been cut thinner. Prime Rib was good. The zucchini had onions mixed in it. Was not a fan so changed it to the fresh green bean, with no problem. The ham and cheese sliders were more than enough. 3 came with the order along with French fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw was on the dry side for me. We will definitely be back.
