Great Chile Verde. I love a bowl of Green Chile with a side of whole beans. Comes with a big tortilla. I get mine "dry" . They normally come with butter on them. The green chile is 5 star. The other menu items are good but not in the same league. Wish I could give 4.5 stars I have had good to very good service in the many times I have eaten here. Very reasonable prices! read more

The food at this Mexican resturaunt was only decent in my opinion. Arizona has a lot of very good Mexican food and this place just didn't stack up with the rest of the competition. The service only made the experience worse. Our server appeared to be on a working lunch break. She ate her food at the next table over getting up from time to time to refill our drinks. It was an odd situation but probably not her fault. I would eat there again and it would have been four stars if it wasn't for the poor service. read more

We went here yesterday because I've read several reviews now touting this place having the best chimichanga in Arizona, it was pretty close for us - we still liked Joe and Aggies in Holbrook just a hair better, but wow - very home cooked Mexican! The rice had a chicken broth base, and I do think this is the best rice I've had anywhere. Beans were spot on, and the chimi was well spiced with perfect chunks of pork in it, and the salsa - always the good mark of a good Mexican restaurant was excellent! Home made chips too! The staff was friendly, and told us which shops were the best to check out downtown - great experience!! It was worth the 2 hour drive! read more

Globe/Miami is known for its many Mexican restaurants. Chalo's is the best of all of them. My daughter's favorite restaurant. She's 6. She doesn't even really like Mexican food, but she always begs us for Chalo's. The portions are big, the prices low, and you WILL be surprised at how quickly they get your order to you. Best carne asada burro anywhere. The kids' menu is pretty lackluster standard fare (chicken strips, hamburger and hot dog...I think). I'd skip that. The Mexican dishes are tremendous. read more

Every time I have to come to Globe for work this is a must lunch stop! I highly recommend the Red Chile or the Green Chile both are super tasty and not too spicy either. I can honestly say I have yet to order something from this menu that i have not liked. Anything from their basic tacos to burritos and chimmis are super delicious. For starters, when my party finally sat down after standing at the door for a few minutes waiting to be greeted, we were greeted with a hostess who seemed as if she didn't want to be there. After finally being seated and receiving our drinks, we waited about 15 minutes to receive a menu. After taking a look at the menu we noticed the prices were a bit high, then along came our waitress along with a bit of an attitude. We didn't really care for because we were just hungry and wanting to grab a quick bite to eat. We finally placed our order which was very difficult because the food was hardly customizable, it's as if the restaurant owner is greedy with the food, which is just pre-made and heated. Once we received our food, it was super watery as if it was placed in a warmer right out the freezer. The food was alright but could have been better considering the price we paid. This place was PACKED!! And there's a good reason. First off, the chips and salsa... The chips were home made, good and flakey. The salsa was good, but mild. I can't eat fire and I was able to down these. My hubby got cheese enchiladas. Said they were very tastey but not the best. They lacked a certain flavor that would put them over the top. Now for my dinner.... I got the stuffed sopapilla. And it was dynamite!! I tolerate Mex food, I'm not a huge fan of it. But I would be if I could get this at every Mex resaurant! The food was hot and the portions big. Like I said, the place was PACKED, so service was a bit slow...but we expected it when we walked in and saw how busy they were. This place saved the day. We left another place in town disappointed after waiting an hour with no food and Chalo's really came through. The food was average or better for Globe (the food is so great here), but the service puts it at 5 stars. I stop here every time I come through Globe, always good food, good tacos, enchiladas and red chili burros. Unfortunately I only have been here 3 times in about 12 years. I will keep coming back whenever I can. A little too much oregano in the salsa but the hot salsa is still good. The salsa could be a bit thicker it just runs off the chips. I like that they serve corn and flour tortilla chips. read more

We stopped by for the third time the first week of January 2020. the welcome and the food was terrific. I love this place. I again had the waitress that had turned me on to Alegria shoes. I wish I could remember her name. She was born to be in the customer service industry. I think her uncle owns Chalo's. I want to thank her again for the great service every time we visited them and to thank her again for the tip on great working shoes, Alegria. This is not the kind of place you go to for ambience or spectacular service - it's the kind of place you go to for excellent Mexican food. I'm from Globe and every time I go back I make sure to eat at Chalo's. It's Sonoran style Mexican food at its best. The tortillas are homemade and delicious and the refried beans are creamy and flavorful. Cheese crisps are thin and delicious, and the bean burrito smothered in butter is my favorite. I can't think of one dish here that isn't excellent. The prices are low, the people friendly, and the food wonderful - if you get a chance to go don't miss this place! read more

Sooo... we went to Chalo's tonight for dinner. I read many reviews and felt confident that I too would have a good experience here. Not so, unfortunately. The salsa and chips were right on point like the previous reviewers stated but that is where it ended. I ordered the Navajo Taco with green chili expecting something similar to the pics and description that I read here on Yelp. My plate came out quickly. It looked like a salad - couldn't find the fry bread. I finally found a very small piece of it in the center of the plate completely soaked in very loose refried beans, top and bottom. Then with the green chili on top of that, I was doomed with a soggy mess. It didn't taste bad but I could only get through about a third of it. I mentioned it to one of the waitresses and that was the end of it. No one seemed to care. They were nice, but nice doesn't do it when the food isn't up to standards. My husbands meal was just ok. No reason to ever go back. I don't live here and wouldn't ever make a special trip to revisit. I gave it one star because the chips and salsa were good. On a side note, just as we were leaving, a gentleman came in and sat at the table next to us and ordered a margarita. She asked him if he wanted lime or strawberry he said lime - then she told him it was from a canned "brrrita" and that is all they had. He got up and left. Well this place is rated the best in globe. I am glad it is here as Globe, AZ is lets say way out in the sticks. So to get even an average meal is a good thing. Nothing exciting here, Good solid Mexican food. The chicken fajitas were sizzling and was really grilled chicken and grilled onions and peppers. Spice? I couldn't find any. The Green Burrito was a nice simple meat and mild chile burrito, cooked properly, however a bit bland for me. Oh well. I am happy they are here and in Globe this may be as good as it gets. So... This restaurant has been around a long time. When we ate there, they had run out of salsa, chips and something else. I can't remember. It was early afternoon on a weekend. Decent food for a decent price. Service could be improved. Had good combo choice yet I would stay clear of the tacos. They were greasy and the mixture of "meat" looked like wet cat food. Just like the Mexican food I remember growing up. Large plate with lots red sauce, enchillada, great chili rellano, tamale beans and rice. I really enjoyed it. I took a motorcycle ride way, way, way over to Globe to try this place out after reading so many great Yelp reviews. Wow, I was completely pleased. First of all, the service was some of the best I have ever had at any restaurant - every 10 minutes we would be asked if we needed anything - refills, chips, etc. They serve two hot sauces for the chips - mild and hot. Actually, to my taste they are mild and medium. Wonderful taste - unlike any other hot sauces I have tried anywhere else. The food quantity is massive. Everything tastes great. The prices are cheap. As you can see from my check ins I have been here a few more times since my review. I have not had a problem once on my trips back. Even when they have been busy I have had hot food and great service. I also love they they have specials like $2.00 bean burros with a soda every now and then.
