Adovada. Anything adovada. It's always been wonderful. Tender, flavorful, spicy (not for the tender palate) and so very awesome. We've driven from Tucson just for this adovada. Again. Chalo's has the best food that I've eaten in the Globe-Miami area. I've eaten at several other Mexican restaurants in the area. They're all good. But Chalo's has been the best. Their Adovada and Green Chile are amazing. The Adovada is spicy! But the flavor is so rich. And you can tell that the pork is good quality and cooked to perfection. The Green Chile has a complex, more delicate flavor. You taste the garlic and cilantro in it. Again the pork is cooked perfectly. The Green Chile Chimichanga is awesome. read more

The green chile was amazing. It had the perfect balance of chiles and pork and was done just right. Very spicy, which I loved. Everything retained a great texture as opposed to being stewed into mush. The tortilla was perfect as well. We drove 2 hours from Phoenix to our favorite restaurant in Globe because it is shutting down at the end of the month. To our disappointment, they had just closed early for a funeral. We pondered the other places in Globe and when we came in view of Chalo's I told my husband I'd always wanted to try it (we've driven through Globe probably 100 times to visit our kids in the Gila Valley) so we did. We have a new favorite restaurant in Globe! There were a few people inside when we arrived (10:45a on a Saturday). We were greeted by a friendly young lady, chose our seat and were instantly served chips and 2 types of salsa. Tiffany, a member of the family who owns Chalo's, came by; when we told her it was our first time she quickly brought us a sample of the red chile and the green chile. We were sold! Husband got a green chili burro smothered in green chili; I got the green chili stuffed sopapillas (fry bread). He really enjoyed his burro and I loved my stuffed sopapilla. The fry bread holds its texture in the chili and brings a unique flavor that was great. Tiffany kept stopping by to chat; we told her about the restaurant we had come to Globe for and we comiserated with each other on its closing. By this time the restaurant was almost full. You could tell that most of the people were regulars. They would stop by other tables to greet friends and Tiffany greeted everyone. The atmosphere was really great - like being at your local pub if you were a Brit. We thoroughly enjoyed our food and loved the friendliness and the atmosphere at Chalo's. We will definitely be back. Sign says Home Made Mexican Food. Looked over the menu and saw Keto selections. Great will try the Green Smothered Steak. Pricey at $17.95. Server said it was a sirloin steak and very good. Expectations were high. The chips and salsa were meh. Steak arrived. Watery green chile with melted cheese on a thin sirloin steak served with shredded lettuce. Steak was tender but hardly worth the price. Scraped off the cheese. Who puts melted cheese on a steak? Place was not busy, however the service was very poor. Server must have forgot I was there. No knife with steak when it arrived, it was not that tender. Gobbeled it down. No check at table and no followup. Server had her back to the counter when I walked up. I stood there for a while as she was in a prolonged conversation with someone in the kitchen. How was everything? I said ok. I suppose the Mexican Food may be good but I will never know. Our server Tiffany was awesome, gave us the history of the restaurant. We love to support local businesses (mom and pop places). The food was great, good portions.
