Very good place to eat in Globe. There were lots of choices (more than what was mentioned on the website). I stopped in last week with a group of friends. The service was really good. Everyone enjoyed their food. I had the Carne Asada Burro which comes with rice and beans. The rice and beans were very good. The Carne Asada Burro was probably the best I have had in Arizona. Decided to take a ride east today from Gilbert. Headed to Globe cuz my GF had never been in that area. I knew there were a couple of good Mexican restaurants in that area. We stopped at 1.15 for lunch at Chalo's . It was hopping busy. It was the best Mexican food either of us have had . The service was great.....those waitress were busy yet very attentive. Ok so I am picky when it comes to Mexican food...what can I say? Chalo's is the best, hands down. Not only do they make the best stuffed sopapillas, but the Navajo Tacos are yummy as well. I just stopped for lunch. Great atmosphere and clean. Greeted promptly by the hostess. All is well so far. Served a mixture of flour and corn tortilla chips and 2 flavors of salsa. One was supposed to be hot but wasn't and not particularly flavorful. The mild was probably watered down catsup. I ordered the chicken fajita burrito which comes with rice and beans. Hugely disappointing, mostly lettuce and smaller than a Taco Bell taco. The entire meal wouldn't have filled a 2 year old. Never coming back here again. read more

Mexican food from a box? I was told this use to be one of the best in Mexican fare. I felt singled out, like an outsider looking in. The other customers seemed like regulars. As I ordered I watched as others received their order and noticed they always dove into the main meat of the dish. The beans were left to last and the plates went away with beans and rice still there. After I started on my order I realized why. The beans are pretty much flavorless. The chips are okay, at least the flour ones. over all it was a "typical" meal. I wasn't impressed or satiated. The tacos were good but not exciting. The server was not talkative or busy. I saw customers come and go but not really excited or conversational with others. I spoke with one customer who shared that the establishment is under management of a family who has switched around a lot as to who actually ran the restaurant and that it used to be better. read more

I miss the previous owners! We should have known better but we wanted mexican so we stopped there. Our food did arrive quickly but I seen my cousin's hamburger and I specifically heard him ask for it to be well done; it was still pink in the center, he didn't finish it. Our enchilada sauce was bland, so was the beans. What happened to authentic? It tasted like it was from a can. WIll not be trying food here again. read more

We were cruising through town one Saturday afternoon after visiting the Besh-Ba-Gowah museum and we were pretty hungry so I looked on Yelp and for reasons I don't remember I decided we should go here. Maybe because it was at the top of the list when I Yelped Mexican in the area. So with the help of modern technology we navigated our way through this old town and found our spot. It was rather late in the afternoon (three-ish) but the place wasn't empty - there were far less empty tables than there were occupied tables let's just say. We sat at a table not far from the cashier and were immediately greeted with chips and salsa. They gave us both mild and hot sauce. The hot sauce had a pretty good bite to it so I was pretty happy. I probably filled up too much on those chips since they kept bringing more so I just ordered 2 chile rellenos as my main meal. Those were delicious and really hit the spot. Also went down well with some Mexican beer. No doubt I'd hit it up again if I ever find myself in this area. Lot's of parking behind the restaurant. read more

We love good Mexican food and are always on the look out for new places. I have a severe seafood allergy and my daughter has a corn and soy allergy so it can make it challenging to find some place we both can eat. We will go back here. The server made sure there would not be any issues with my seafood allergy and my daughter was thrilled they had flour tortilla chips as well as the standard corn. The atmosphere was laid back and relaxed and the staff was extremely friendly. As for the food, oh my! You get your moneys worth in value! Even the kids meals were huge but everything was tasty. They let you know when something is spicy - and when they say it is, it is! - but it isn't a spice for the sake of spice. It's a spice that makes you say Yum! read more

My wife and I were passing through Globe, and our first choice for lunch was closed for renovations. The workers recommended a burger joint after we asked for a Mexican food recommendation (imagine that). We chose Chalo's instead and were glad we did. The service was quick and friendly. The red chili was excellent - well seasoned, but not too spicy. Different from the typical chili colorado served in Phoenix restaurants. Rice and beans were tasty, and the salsa perfectly seasoned. An interesting touch was that the burritos are topped with melted butter. After returning to Phoenix, we searched for recipes that may have been, but couldn't find any. We did however, find an affiliated Casa Reynoso restaurant in Tempe on Mill Avenue. Can't wait to try it. read more

Very good chips and salsa. The margaritas are made from a mix and are way too sweet, not good. I ordered the Navajo Taco and was surprised to see something more akin to a taco salad served in a bread bowl. I thought they had confused my order so I sent it back only to find out that this is what they call "Navajo Taco". Gave it a try and it was actually very good.
