My friends and I tried many dishes here and they were all so good! I was also starving after a long flight so everything we ordered really hit the spot: - sator goong: this was my favorite! so spicy and flavorful, tasted great over rice - squid ink fried rice - kee mao seafood - peek gai tod: these chicken wings were another standout, very crispy - khao pud mun neuer - thai tea: super refreshing, just the right sweetness and the pick-me-up I needed Service was also friendly and prompt! Our water glasses were always filled when running low, which was appreciated. Overall, I had a great time here catching up with my friends over amazing food. I highly recommend to those looking for your Thai food fix!

I went to Chalong for dinner with a friend and it was amazing. I love Thai restaurants that offer more specialized menus. We ordered: - pomelo salad - such a unique and delicious dish, the combo of ingredients surprised me but every bite is a flavor bomb - crab curry - steamed fish - longan sticky rice Everything was delicious, i have no complaints. It's a little tight, dark, and loud inside but it makes sense for a popular restaurant. Our waitress was great and provided helpful recommendations. I'd definitely go back to try more of their menu!

The Thai food selection in the city keeps getting better and better, and now I feel as though even if I've found the one Thai spot, there's another better one out there. We ordered: Cocktails- Leonardo on The Beach (Krabi) The Pirate of Tarutao (Satoon) Food- Platod Kee Mao Seafood I love that their cocktails menu has the corresponding image with the drink so there aren't any surprises / you know what to expect. The Pirate of Tarutao came in a cute barrel cup and the inside of the drink reminded me of a moscow mule (in the best way, of course!). The platod dish was everything I had never had before-a sweet soy glaze sauce on top of a mildly fried fish. The kee mao was a bit spicy, but had a tinge of sweetness. The service and quality of food are chef's kiss and it's safe to say, this is definitely part of my Thai rotation. This is truly one of the underrated Thai spots in the city that you won't really find on social media, and I'd love for it to stay that way...

We just returned to this popular souther Thai spot and had a great meal. We went on MLK Day for lunch and the place was full within minutes. Make a reservation! Baerng Golae (coconut crisp grilled shrimp and famous curry paste from southern Thailand): still mouthwatering. Seafood Platod (deboned fried whole fish, sweet fish sauce, fried garlic and julienne scallion): still a great large dish to share. The branzino is not dry and the sauce is delicious. Mee Pum Riang (southern style pad Thai): very yummy. The coconut sauce is creamy and flavorful. Looking forward to our next visit.

Food, service and ambience was nice. I had curry goat which was spicy but very flavorful and tasty, mango sticky rice was awesome. I had a matcha adult beverage that was delicious

Came back for a second time with a larger group this time, a little bit of a miss compared to last time but nothing huge. The service seemed rushed, we felt a bit pushed ordering and paying. Food was all delicious as always maybe just a busy holiday weekend

This is a great place for a big gathering and a family style meal! All the dishes were unique. Some highlights: - Lumpu Salad: It had the perfect level of spice. The scallops in this dish were delicious - Crab Curry: The crab flavors were strong & it tasted great with rice. Highly recommend Chalong was very crowded when we visited. They had long lines at the front for walk ins. Would recommend making a reservation before dining here!

How I wish this place was in Pittsburgh- every dang dish that came out was better than the last - so flavorful and full of umami.

Cha long has a great ambiance, perfect for a friendly setting and date night! The service was great, very attentive! My glass was never empty. Menu suggestions were offered with great wisdom. THE FOOD IS INCREDIBLE. The peanut appetizer (Phuket Pak Mor) is a wonderful starter. Crab curry is a MUST.

Scallop salad was standout! Flavors all packed a punch and great texture throughout. Also really enjoyed the crab curry and beef fried rice. Probably wouldn't get the pad kee mao again. Great service, dim lighting and loud chatter for ambiance

My partner and I had lunch here a few weeks back, and this is quickly become one of our favorite restaurants that we can't stop raving about to our friends. The ambience during lunchtime was nice because it wasn't too packed and our seat by the window was perfect for people watching. The staff is extremely attentive and made sure that our meal and experience was spectacular from the beginning to the end. We ordered the scallop salad, which was hands down one of the best dishes. It was tangy, spicy, crunchy, and the scallops were fresh. Put that all together and it was everything you want in a well balanced bite! We also ordered the softshell crab curry, which was flavorful and packed with so much spice. There was a little snafu with one of our dishes. My partner and I were not going to bring it to their attention, however, the staff was so attentive that they came over right away to check in on us. If you are looking for a delicious Thai restaurant look no further because Cha Long is the one!

Was really excited for this spot as there were more reservation slots open than Fish Cheeks which I've been wanting to go to (next time I guess)! This is a thai place in Hell's Kitchen just a block away from many of the broadway theaters, so was the perfect spot to hit up before seeing Wicked. It's super packed, like only a few inches between tables, and kinda loud inside so perhaps not the best ambiance, but the decor was decent. The duck confit massaman curry was absolutely delicious. The duck was nice and crispy despite sitting in the curry, and had more meat than it looked. The curry had an intense yet tasty flavor, and the potatoes and radishes were nice. The rice was a perfect accompaniment and had a nice texture. The small plum onion was pickled just a tad much than I liked but was an interesting addition to the dish. The steamed fish (Chilean sea bass filet) was a super small portion size for $35 but the sauce it was in was delightfully nuanced, with a complex citrus based flavor. I'd recommend ordering an appetizer to beef up your fullness level here. They didn't have a physical dessert menu, but verbally told us about the homemade thai tea ice cream with wonton crisps and brown sugar boba which sounded good. Little did we know it turned out to be $16 at least the ice cream was tasty. It definitely tasted like the ice cream version of a very good thai iced tea, and the wonton crisps were nice and crunchy. I would've ordered the actual drink if it wasn't priced at $9 Overall delicious offerings here, but a bit pricey for the portions. Definitely would come back though!

Tried Chalong recently and had mixed feelings. The squid ink seafood fried rice was probably the highlight -- good flavor, fairly fresh seafood, and nicely balanced. The curry shrimp taco was creative, with a crispy shell that reminded me of a snack, and the shrimp seasoning was solid. The curry lamb had good texture and wasn't overly soft. However, portions were on the smaller side and prices felt high for what you get. Overall, it's not bad, but for the cost, I expected something a bit more memorable.

Considering the hectic 48hrs of non-stop traveling and celebrations, I would've been satisfied with a simple takeout meal to end the weekend but to my surprise, one of the best experiences of the trip was yet to come. Thankfully I was blessed with great friends to recommend this exceptional establishment known as Mitr Thai in Midtown Manhattan. Though the trip was centered around a wedding, my experience here instantly became the highlight of my trip to the City. One very genuine friend arranged this dinner, making a reservation for 3 for 7:30pm. To our surprise, we actually made it from Connecticut, walked from Grand Central and to Mitr Thai at 7:25pm even though they won't seat you until your entire party is there. After passing through the scaffolding, the restaurant has a two-door entry, one host after another, leading to a quaint but alluring lobby area. We were greeted by both hosts even though we were bogged down with luggage. The space was welcoming and had a sense of elegance as there was a blend of hardwood furnishings, low lighting and a heavy dose of Thai art/fixtures. For context: Labor Day Monday, at 7-8pm, there was a steady demand as the waiting bench remained full. There were even guests standing but even as more people came in, people were being seated at a consistent rate. Our 3rd friend arrived closer to 8pm and we were seated immediately. Our bags were placed in a small room behind the host podium and we were seated 20-30 meters from the door along the wall facing the bar. The menus were very comprehensive: large, descriptive and filled with graphics that left me wondering if I could try it all. I couldn't praise our server (Mindy) enough. She knew the kitchen, bar and any/all offerings like her own name. She had individual recommendations for each of us AND ADDITIONAL OPTIONS. I listened, ordered the Short Rib Prik Kang and indulged in a Verdant Whisper (Tequila, Cucumber, Lime). I'm not sure how but our food arrived less than 15mins later! The short rib looked good enough to make the entire restaurant jealous: the curry paste glistened in the light, the aroma called my name while the garnishes winked at me. To my disbelief, as good as it looked, it tasted even better! The sauce was robust, smooth, creamy & just spicy enough. Since the ribs slid off the bone, I mixed in the white mixed rice and ate it as a meal. I can proudly say I've never had anything like it. Oh yeah, the cocktail? Smooth, refreshing and relaxing. Worth every penny. I was elated with the overall experience and chose to pay for both of my friend's meals. My only regret is not having more to tip! Mindy gave us the table to chat for another 30mins but in the back of my mind I was still enamored from the meal. I had no expectations when I entered Mitr Thai but I left with a sincere amount of praise and admiration. From cuisine to the hospitality down to the furnishings, dining here was one of the best overall experiences I've had in YEARS. I cannot say enough about this establishment and I hope they Always Strive & Prosper.

I came here with a group of six on a weeknight with no reservations. We were seated immediately on the second floor. The restaurant had a chic, sophisticated interior, with black and gold accents and wood furniture. A large spiral fringe chandelier hung from the ceiling. While the environment indeed was upscale, the food still retained that cozy, home-cooked element known to Thai cuisine. I split the short rib curry and pork cheek with my husband. The curry was creamy with a kick of heat. The beef pull-apart tender. I'm salivating just thinking about it now. The pork cheek was delicious as well. It had the taste and texture of pork belly, which paired splendidly with the sweet and tangy fish sauce it came with. Others from my party ordered the masaman curry and a type of noodle (I think it was the pad kee mao?), and they all approved of their dishes. The drinks were wonderful as well, so distinctly Thai and inventive. I highly doubt you'll find anything here that isn't excellent.

Not all midtown restaurants stay open past 10, and I was relieved to find their kitchen going strong at that hour, as well as their dining space, which was full. Turned out it was for good reason because their food was delicious. My friend and I were hoping to eat at a restaurant nearby specializing in crab, but they closed much earlier. Fortunately for us, SaiTong's menu had plenty of crab on it, and we decided to double up and make each of our entree's a crab one. The black spaghetti crab curry and crab curry noodles advertised themselves as being very different dishes in both presentation and ingredients but ended up tasting kind of similar. One was topped with deep fried crab and used a different type of noodle than the other, but the sauces were so similar. This is not to say that they didn't taste good, but I would've preferred more variance. I'm glad we got an order of papaya salad to cut the richness of the other dishes, and I also appreciated it had a nice level of heat in it. Our servers were really friendly without being overbearing, and let us linger for a bit even after we paid the bill, as it was their last seating for the evening. There are so many excellent Thai restaurants in the city and I'd put SaiTong firmly in the category of perfectly solid spots to get your Thai fix, with some special dishes on the chef's menu worth checking out.

We settled at the bar watching Kevin craft the most beautiful cocktails while sipping a few of our own -- pleased with every drop. The spicy crispy chicken rolls were chef's kiss. The ribeye garlic fried rice was bold, deeply savory & dangerously good. The chicken pad Thai struck a delicate balance between tangy and bright & perfectly restrained. If you find yourself north of Flatiron, and aren't feeling Korean - this little Thai gem shouldn't be missed; stop in on Mondays & Tuesdays

It does well with doing the whole "fusion" schtick without losing the essence and flavor of the dishes. Pad Krapoa Moo Krob, the meat on the pork belly was so juicy - the pork skin was crunchy and chewy at the same time, flavors of Thai spice, basil, and bell peppers harmoniously working together to bring a balanced meal. The shrimp basil fried rice was delicious, a great alternative if you're not feeling the crab fried rice. The service at Obao is always prompt and helpful, whether it's questions about the menu or recommendations, anyone is willing to help. Inside Oboa is dimly lit, a moody vibe that is fun and invites playful conversations.

The hostess stated how she had a long reservation list, but was able to get us right in! Once we sat down, our server, Spaghetti, came over to us. He was extremely friendly and took our drink orders right away. I ordered an Espresso Martini, and it was delicious. My father ordered a Vietnamese Iced Coffee, which was extremely tasty. For our entrees, my mother ordered the Pad Thai, and my father and I ordered the Pho Bó. My mom absolutely loved the Pad Thai! The Pho Bó was incredible. The broth was so delectable, and it was honestly the best broth that I have ever had. The portions were also incredible, especially for the price and being in the city! Once we received the check, we noticed that next to the Pho Bó, it stated that it is Michelin Recommended, and we completely understand why! We are looking forward to going back!

Stopped by The Thonglor New York for dinner and ordered the pad kra pow with a fried egg on top…read more The egg is definitely a must for this dish! As a Thai person myself and as indicated on their menu, it's the way most Thais eat this dish :) The fried egg added that rich, runny element that really brings everything together. The veggies were nicely sautéed, fresh and still crisp, and there was a good amount of ground pork, so the dish felt hearty and satisfying rather than rice-heavy. Overall, the flavors were solid and comforting, though I personally found it just a touch sweeter than I prefer for pad kra pow. Even so, it definitely hit the spot and was very satisfying for a late-night craving. The staff were friendly and welcoming, which made the experience pleasant overall. One thing to keep in mind though is timing - if you're dining closer to closing, you may feel a bit rushed toward the end of your meal. All in all, a solid option for Thai food! I'd come back again (probably earlier next time) and would be interested in trying more dishes from the menu.

The flavor is sweet with a heavy red hue to it. I typically like my pad thai on the browner side if that makes sense. The peanuts add more depth of flavor for sure but it could also use a bit of spice and should've came with a lime wedge to cut the sweetness. Great portion size though & takeout service was fast. Also beware if you don't like tofu as it comes in the eggs that they add to the dish.
