One of my favorite date night spots! We are a younger couple and a lot of regular Chalice customers seem to be an older bunch but that doesn't stop us from visiting on a regular basis. The sandwiches and great (My favorite is the No Meat!) and the drinks are always perfect! And this might just be me but I really enjoy not having fries forced on to my plate every time I order a sandwich! I love the side options 'Tomato salad, coleslaw, tossed salad, pasta salad, etc.' And if you're looking for a warm drink the Chai is awesome!! The staff is always very friendly and even on a busy weekend the wait is not bad at all. Hands down one of the best restaurants in Oshkosh. read more

I have to start out by saying I looove the atmosphere of this restaurant...super cute, warm and cozy! It's much smaller than I anticipated but I think that adds to its charm. I was a little disappointed in their menu as it is limited pretty much to only sandwiches however they are very tasty...not to mention they are huge! Two people could definitely split one sandwich and walk away content. My boyfriend and I had a few minor things go wrong consecutively service wise so I left with somewhat of a bad taste in my mouth but I feel like it could've been a fluke. I love this restaurant! Great ambiance. I love the Denver sandwich, the chalice sauce (Brown mustard/mayo)it comes with is spot on. I would recommend requesting it for other sandwiches as well. I like the tomato salad for something different as a side, and you get free bite sized scotcharoos for dessert! Wowbudanza is good appetizer to share. Good drink selection as well. Bar tenders have always been very hospitable, even when I line up the bar with kids to eat lunch. I recommend this to anyone visiting Oshkosh. read more

I must not "get" the Oshkosh food scene because the Chalice did not live up to the five star ratings that other yelpers have given it. Yes, there's a fire place and the server was attentive. But, the menu was weird, the salads all had melted cheese on them (WTF?), and the food wasn't really that great. read more

good food. I dont get why they kept trying to force us to try the chalice sauce? When we asked for it to be removed we were instead treated to what appeared to be a gravy boat sized helping for each of us in a literal chalice. Somewhere i expect there is a chef giggling at the pun each time its served. staring at the dining room through peep holes in portrait giggling like gargamel from the smurfs as his plan is about to reach fruition. Could not get in last year ....yes it is that good! Wonderful interior and staff. Small wine list but what is available is very choice full bar. Food was wonderful lots of flavor. Beautiful large bar that you can sit and eat at. We will see you again next year if not again this trip. read more

Ate here before a wedding. Cozy inside. Warm with fireplaces. The bread is AMAZING. We all had sandwiches and all of us loved them. The chicken is tender and the bread I can't even describe. Service was also great. Prices are a little higher than usual but not so much as to not make it worth it. For dessert we had some little rice crispy treat things with butterscotch and that was amazing as well. Would definitely come back!!!! read more

I have been coming here since i was small with my parents. I realize that the staff that works here has worked here for quite a while, however it is incredibly off putting to be ignored as we waited to get out bill. Mind you we had been sitting at the bar all night, and ordered food and drinks. Also i should mention that the bartender/server forgot to put our food order in for 20 minutes. We received a small apology and more of a "I forget things all the time--oh well" sentiment. The Chalice has great food, a bit over priced, but their service isn't great. So all in all, customer service is what brings me back, and it makes me disappointed that I can't say I would come back here more often. read more

The sandwiches were really good, I had a roast beef and provolone. If I lived near The Chalice I would routinely be on the list. Each sandwich comes with your choice of a variety of salads (Apple Waldorf?! Pasta or Tomato Salad). Seriously the best place to eat in town!!! When I want to try a new place to eat, I come to yelp. The reviews are nothing short of right on with The Chalice!! Sooooo good!! Super cute and cozy inside, awesome friendly staff, and most of all phenominal food! Their seafood bisque is out of this world! There marinated tomatoes taste like home grown (idk if they were or not). Their thousand island dressing was absolutely the best Ive ever had! Ever! I havent been able to stomach meat, as I am pregnant, but their sandwiches looked amazing.. Son and husband confirmed they are! Definately have to try this place- you will not be sorry!! read more

I'd give the Chalice 4.5 stars if I could. I reserve a 5-star rating for only the very best places I have ever dined. However, in comparison to other dining options in this area, you cannot beat the Chalice. Great food, adorable cozy atmosphere, plenty of drink options, and friendly service. I've had many meals here and have never been disappointed. Is it the best food you will ever have in your life? No but it is the best meal you can find for the price anywhere in Oshkosh or even surrounding cities. Most recently I had the Denver Sandwich (minus the cheese and minus the mushrooms) and it was very good. I got the lunch portion and it was HUGE. Seriously massive. I would be curious how large the dinner portion is. My only complaint about that entree in particular was that it was very onion-y. I love onions but this was a total overload of onions, I ended up picking off over half of them. The people I was with got a roast beef sandwich, and a Cobb salad and everyone enjoyed their meals. Their white sangria is also very tasty and my favorite winter drink to enjoy at the Chalice is a Tom and Jerry. I always look forward to a meal or just a drink here - the atmosphere and staff really make the dining experience in my opinion. Love it and will continue to come back time and time again. read more

This is a great restaurant. Food is excellent--I had the Haddock augratin and it was great. Broccoli cooked perfect. Side salad tomatoes in Italian dressing was fabulous. They are known for their sandwiches which are huge. Service also very good. Friendly staff. Great beer menu and decent wine menu. Small but quaint place. Great parking which is often hard to come by in Oshkosh. Prices extremely reasonable. I would highly recommend if you're ever in Oshkosh. read more

Contemplating vomiting... assuming it doesn't happen on it's own. The ambiance is supper club swank and the food is frat-house leftovers. Bizarre and disgusting combinations. The au gratin haddock salad (like that's not warning enough!) had swiss cheese and mushrooms on salad with tomatoes soaked in italiandressing. The portobello bits were chunks of pan fried mushrooms. Pasta salad was that tricolored pasta salad mix one gets out of a box. Save yourself... RUN!!! read more

I have always loved this place, and I usually eat here when I am visiting Oshkosh. But, this last visit was very unwelcoming! My Sister, Mother and I came in on a Saturday night. The woman behind the counter made it very clear to us that the wait for the table was long and she pretty much was expecting us to leave? Instead we put our name on the list. A few spots at the bar opened up and we sat down to her very territorial and rude look?!! We asked if it was ok if we ordered dinner at the bar...normal right? She clearly did not want us sitting there, but said yes. The topper is how I had to flag her down with an Excuse Me? to order another drink with my meal and she gave me the look of death?! Should I not order? For a restaurant that prides itself on friendly service, this was the total opposite. We are respectful, good tipping customers....shouldn't we be treated like we belong there? read more

Love this place! Transplanted Chicagoan so I'm a little picky with my food choices. My favorite is the blackened halibut salad. So good - I could eat it everyday! The little patio are is cute and cozy in the summer. The fireplace in the dining room is a nice touch on a cold winter night. read more

I am not a big fan of bar and grill restaurants but this one is a little different. The atmosphere is cozy with a fireplace in the dining room. My absolute favorite is the Philly cheesesteak. It's not greasy, great mustard sauce and the apple salad is great. read more
