Chaat Bhavan is an Indian-inspired, pure vegetarian restaurant offering an extensive menu of chaats, entrees, and breads. We started with the Chaat Samosa, made of a crispy broken samosa with a spiced potato and pea filling, topped with chana masala (curried chickpeas) and chutneys. This was an excellent combination of flavors and textures, but would've been even better with some tangy yogurt and crunchy sev on top. The Bhel Thali was a nice sampler of many different dishes including paneer bhurji, a black chickpea soup, yellow lentil soup, kadhi (a sour yogurt-based curry), raita, rice, rotis, papad, kheer, and semolina halwa, served with a drink of chaas (spiced buttermilk). But my favorite component of the thali was the bhel, a side of puffed rice tossed in a savory, tangy dressing and mixed with pomegranate seeds, black chickpeas, chopped tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and spices. According to the menu, the restaurant's signature dish was Malai Paneer, made of homemade cottage cheese cubes in a creamy tomato sauce, which was more liquidy than I expected. The Aloo Gobi was an oily mixture of cauliflower and potatoes cooked with onions and spices, but my favorite entree was Makki di Roti & Saag, two thick corn flour flatbreads served with spiced, puréed spinach and mustard greens--an earthy and flavorful Punjabi winter dish! Overall, the flavors of the food were all on point, and the service was super friendly and attentive for a relatively casual place. We got catering and the food was really delicious. The garlic naan was a big portion and it was devoured and sopped up all the sauce from the paneer tikki masala and Chana masala. Both of these were extremely flavorful. I used up so many naan for my dishes. The samosa is also well balanced with the mint chutney. Also, nothing leaked from traveling with our food. I have ordered multiple takeout items from this particular location but they always come with some issues with their quality quantity or missing items. This used to be a good restaurant, but I'm not sure what happened. I'm surprised at how much the quality at Chaat Bhavan has declined. We ordered Pani Puri, Dabeli, Corn Chaat, and Samosa Chaat literally none of the items were good. I had a similar experience last time but refrained from leaving a review, thinking any restaurant can have a bad day. However, today was a complete disappointment, worse than before. Very disappointed that a place like chaat bhavan has stooped down to the level of fudging your bills. We were charged twice the price for three plates of their june specials. luckily we realized that the bill was high and asked them for a physical copy so we could see the breakdown. I'd like to start by saying Savio is the best! Very attentive and constantly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed along with all the other staff that checked in with us! The food is WOW WOW WOW fresh! We ordered: Tandoori paneer tikka Malai paneer Garlic naan Samosa First they brought out the samosa order which came with 2 samosas and 2 sauces. One was a mint chutney sauce which was delightfully fresh with a hint of heat and the other was sweet and savory which I believe was a tamarind sauce. The samosas were crispy and delicious! Next they brought out the tandoori paneer tikka which resembled a fajita platter. The big cuts of paneer were very tasty and it was served alongside grilled veggies and a sauce that reminded me of a salsa. Very interesting and flavorful! Afterwards they brought out the garlic naan and the Malai paneer. The sauce for the Malai paneer reminded me of a butter chicken sauce but slightly differently and very delicious! It also came with this small bowl of sliced onion and something else which I couldn't describe other than very acidic. The garlic naan was good but I think I'll order the plain naan or the butter naan next time but I'll definitely be coming back! What an amazing experience, the restaurant is very clean and looks super nice on the inside! Will definitely be coming back! Also don't forget to check in on Yelp! We love coming here for our authentic Indian food fix. The food here is all vegetarian and the staff is very friendly. We have had multiple events catered by Chaat Bhavan as well. Have eaten here few times in past and it has been hit/miss. We went here wanting to try catering menu items as we were considering them for catering for our daughter's birthday. During first visit the manager suggested 2 curries (both had exact same base gravy, I wondered why would he do that). Shortlisted a few items and left. Their website says their catering menu is customizable but IT'S NOT. I reached out saying we wanted to try some deluxe/exotic items and their response was you need to have a minimum number of people before you can order them. I said okay, we can order min quantity, no problem, but they wanted us to bill $100 worth even if we wanted to 'try the menu'. This was a red flag and I Thought it was ridiculous. I should've just moved on. Anyways, we decided not to try those exotic items instead stuck to regular menu items for party planning and went in to try a few more items and ordered the items listed in the bill below . To our surprise the vegetables in the veg korma were stale and smelly. I told the manager and waiter the same and they did nothing about it. Thought I will let the owner know via catering email discussion to see what would their response be. Not surprised that I haven't heard back anything nor got any refund for the spoiled item which we left behind at the restaurant. This speaks about their integrity and quality control. Needless to say both my wife and I got sick and didn't eat anything for next 24 hours due to nausea and sore throat. Glad I tried their menu before catering else would've been embarrassed in front of our guests. SO BEWARE about their malpractices and mediocre food if you decide to consider them for any catering. I gave my business to staar chat cuisine whose food is way more delicious, fresh and they are more customer friendly and even suggested what to order and what not to order(saying the 2 curries we selected would use same base gravy , complete opposite experience to chaat bhavan). read more

Wow this place may be my favorite Indian restaurant I've ever been to. The favorite before was a place I ate at London and this place beat it by miles. My family is not familiar with Indian food and Savio, our server recommended dishes to try. My family was hesitant to eat at an all vegetarian spot because they're meat lovers, but they were in awe of all the new flavor combinations. I had just taken my dad to a Michelin recommended restaurant a few days before for his birthday and he liked this restaurant more, so that says a lot.
