If you follow me reviews then you know that thai is my most beloved food. when we moved to orange, i immediately tried to seek out my go-to place. LOVE cha thai! their dinner specials are a really awesome deal...get this: won ton soup- SO good. like, so flavorful. can't wait for winter to get a hot pot of this! salad- with yummy dressing! entree with choice of meat rice- white or brown egg roll- veggie, but big! 2 fried wontons- with i think pork in them. all of this for $10! I don't even know how they make money. i have ordered take out several times and also eaten in a couple times (and i have only lived here 4 months- don't judge me!) and the staff is friendly, the restaurant itself is clean and well decorated and the food is delicious. i am a big fan of curry and theirs is really delicious. i will be back again and again, thanks Cha Thai! read more

This service here is great! I came for a lunch break. I ordered Thai iced tea and egg rolls because I wasn't that hungry. As I was waiting for my egg rolls, the waitress gave me a complementary wonton soup. It was small but that's all I needed! The Thai iced tea wasn't too sweet which was nice. And you can't go wrong with egg rolls. It wasn't oily like some places. I would come back here to try their main courses. read more

I usually go to this shopping center for the Pho restaurant but my fiancee and I were in the mood for something different. The place: When we walked in the place was empty, there were more people working there than eating there. We sat a booth which was fine. We were there just in time for the lunch specials which inclue wonton soup. After we ordered I was glancing up at the ceiling and noticed some serious mold damage and there was a dead fly hanging from the wall right next to our booth...yum? Then half way through the meal the entire family had lunch in the middle of the restaurant which was a little awkward for me. The service was good at least, my water glass was never empty. The food: We ordered egg rolls and while they were delicious with a yummy sweet and sour sauce they were CRAZY HOT and burned the roof of my mouth. The wonton soup was good. I ordered the yellow curry with beef and the beef was so tough that it hurt my jaw after the meal from having to chew so hard. My fiancee ordered the number 5 lunch special which was spicy with mushrooms, peppers, bamboo and shrimp. One of the shrimp looked like it had seen better days and I advised him not to eat it....a wise choice I think. Overall experience: I ended feeling completely nauseous by the end of the meal and my stomach hurt for about two hours afterwards. Perfect amount of food and combination of flavors! Each of us also went with a thai tea. I'm salivating as I write this review. Awesome find near Old Towne Orange. We went there on a Sat evening and were seated promptly (around 715). Menu consists of all the Thai favorites....we elected to get the Spicy Eggpland (with Pork) and the Yellow Curry Dinner special (complete with salad, soup, eggroll, and wontons). Although the Curry was a bit average, the Eggplant was simply amazing, I thought I had the best eggplant when visiting up north a few years ago, but this definitely was right there with it in terms of flavor. Never knew this place existed until a coworker brought me here. It's pretty busy during lunch so if you want take out make sure to call ahead. Once you step through the door you can smell the delicious Thai food. It's great that they have lunch specials which comes with a main entree rice and wonton soup. The wonton soup is so good and I'm pretty sure it has MSG in it but eh I don't care it was yummy. The beef broccoli was way better than any beef broccoli at a Chinese restaurant. Trying to find a good Thai place around here but it's not happening )= Placed an order to go for lunch. Inside was definitely a lot nicer than outside (it's near a smoke shop). Parking was easy. Food: Tom kah shrimp (1 stars): why is this really white? Never seen it like this. Couldn't finish it, just wasn't good. Not very spicy either, and it was too sweet. 5 bucks for a pretty small container of what seemed to be just coconut milk with a couple of vegetables and 3 shrimp. Pad see ew (2 stars): Asked if they would do a lunch order of pad see ew but they wouldn't, so I ordered regular sizes instead. For the full entree size I expected a larger portion. What's up with all the half containers? If this was their full size their lunch size has to be pretty small. The pad see ew was ehh. The broccoli had no flavor =/ and the noodles didn't have much flavor either. My search for good Thai food close by continues. read more

The lunch specials are a good deal. I had the good ol' stand by of Pad Thai. I was very pleased with it. It came with an appetizer and a soup. I had won ton soup and it was very yummie. Food is good, not great- reasonably priced so good value. Definitely not authentic in style, but decent flavor in their noodle dishes. I've been a couple times and like most small restaurants, the service isn't much of anything. I was shocked though when the waitress returned the bill and requested a higher tip because since our party exceeded 6 she should've built in a 15% gratuity but didn't and the tip letf was less than 15%. No tip had been added to the bill to begin with and then to have the nerve to come back and ask for more extra money for service that was one grade up from mcdonald's was ridiculous. read more

This place was great and fairly reasonably priced. We had the Thai Iced Tea and it was delicious, if not a tad bit on the sweet side. I had the green curry and it was perfect: just a little heat, but smooth and creamy. My boyfriend had the Pad Prik, which he really liked, though it was not my thing from the taste I had. Not a comment on the quality, just not something I'd like or order anyway. The wonton soup was delicious. A clear, but tasty broth. This place is a truly authentic thai restaurant. Being half Thai myself it brought me so much joy to find this place and eating everything that we ordered. If I had a bigger stomach I would have tried everything on the menu. First we had the wonton soup. I was almost disappointed when I saw a clear soup and the chicken didn't look cooked but boy I was blown away. It did have flavor and the chicken was good. There were shrimp and a good amount of wontons. We then ordered the bbq ribs, shrimp fried rice and drunken noodles with chicken. Amazing dishes. I've ordered twice from Cha Thai. The first time was good; Pineapple Fried Rice and the Red Sea. But the second time was awful. The Veggie Pad Prik was like re-cooked, wilted vegetables in sauce. The bamboo shoots, carrots, and baby corn were extremely soggy and didn't seem to be cooked fresh...what a let down. I thought this place might be a replacement for another local Thai restaurant, but I'll pass. read more

First visit and we will be coming back for more...well worth the 6 mile drive to get take out. We frequent other Thai restaurants in the area but compared to them, this place takes the cake. The pa-nang curry was OUTSTANDING. The chicken was tender and flavorful. The pad see ew and tom yum chicken soup were delicious. The basil chicken had great flavor but the chicken pieces were a tad dry (they normally use minced chicken, but we requested chicken pieces and that may have thrown off the cooking time). By far my favorite thai place. Also my girlfriend's favorite and my aunt's favorite. Most people I bring who have never had Thai before get started with the BBQ Chicken, which is a quite filling half a small chicken with some veggies. My Aunt ordered like 6 things when she came down to visit and loved them all. My gf and I go for the chicken pad thai every time. If we split it we still get a pretty good meal, but most of the time we are too selfish for that. I swear that it tastes better if you never stop chewing. On the service side of things: 15 minute to go order, never late. The women working here are great too. Your water glass will always be full and they'll explain any part of the menu to the new comers. read more

My wife and I went here based on the 4-5 star reviews on Yelp. I don't think so! I ordered a Pad Thai as recommended by some of the reviewers, the worst that I have ever tasted. The noodles were dry and has a peculiar color as if food coloring was used. The taste is just sweat, nothing else. My wife ordered a Chicken BBQ which she usually gets, it's her favorite. It tasted horrible. Chicken was dry, taste is flat and kinda medicinal. I can not recommend this restaurant and definitely is not a 4-5 star. read more

SO suggested we try this little Thai place in Orange. I hate writing bad reviews for mom and pops but I have to keep it real. We both decided to get the dinner specials for $9.95 each. One item dish comes with peanut soup, rice, salad, eggroll and wonton. SO had the yellow curry, I had the BBQ chicken and we wanted to start with combination appetizer. The super salty soup came out first. Then they brought out his dish and mine 7 minutes later. Lastly, they brought out our appetizer but 3/4 only. It was missing the eggrolls. Plus, aren't they suppose to bring the appetizers first? I didn't want to make an issue so I decided to take a bite of my chicken. It was cold in the middle so they took it back to the kitchen. As I was waiting, here comes the damn eggrolls. Oh gawd...by this time, I was losing my appetite. When my chicken finally came back, it was on another smaller plate and microwaved. My chicken was now super dry and tasteless. I only took two bites and waited for our check. This place is really disorganized with sloppy service. Don't get me wrong, the servers are super friendly but damn, so many mistakes and most importantly the food is not authentic. read more

We ordered two dinner specials, which give a lot of food for the price. The wonton soup was surprisingly very tasty. Would order the wonton soup separately it was so good. The entrees came shortly after. The fried wontons were good. The egg roll was average, and the salad was pretty average. The red curry was good. However the Pad Thai was amazing. Think I would give this place a 4 overall, but the Pad Thai deserved an extra star it was so good. They also packaged the extra food for us to take home. Been coming here for over 10 years with my family. We now live in Costa Mesa and although the taste is still what we remember, the service and portions have shrunk. The place is now renovated and looks nicer but what keeps us driving here was the taste, the portions and the service.
