We used CGarcia Renovation to repair a bathroom that had water damage behind the wall in the tub area, then replace the tub with a custom tile shower. The project included removing the window and replacing the existing tile floor (under the vanity and closet too) as well as installation of a bench, grab bar, and shower curtain rod (we didn't want a glass door and the cleaning it entails). We still need to do minor drywall repairs, paint, and have decided to replace the vanity in this bathroom. These were not in the original scope of the project. I'm always hesitant to use someone I have had no previous experience with but Carlos and his crew exceeded our expectations. We selected the tile from Floor & Decor and purchase Delta plumbing fixtures. The best recommendation I can give is that I wish we had discovered CGarcia Renovation years ago. I had damage to a rental house in Houston Texas where a backyard tree fell down during hurricane Beryl. One tree branch pierced the roof but did not pierce the kitchen ceiling. The rain ran through the hole soaked the roof insulation and caused a big hole in the kitchen ceiling. I filed a claim with my insurance company where I had a $4,800 deductible. So I was looking for an affordable company to repair the damage. I sent Mr. Garcia a copy of my insurance estimate so he knew what work needed to be completed. I also provided the estimate to the other bidders. This company and Carlos Garcia inspected the damage and in my opinion along with my tenant believe he did a great job repairing the roof, kitchen and fence. Carlos was quick to respond to my request for a quote and was able to work with my busy schedule to meet for the initial walkthrough the same week. He provided me with the most reasonable quote and was able to work with my budget to get everything I needed done. The very next day he was able to start working on my project and he and his team were able to get it done way quicker than I expected! Carlos and his team recently competed an entire rehab of our storage facility and we could not be more pleased with all aspects of choosing him as our contractor. We knew right when we met Carlos at the beginning of the project for an estimate that he was the right fit. He is a man of his word, takes pride in his work and is honest. Our project was fairly large and took a few months to complete. We had some units which were completely burned and some damaged by the fire, which required completely rebuilding the units. We also reconfigured the units on the street so we could secure the facility with fencing and gates. We also needed concrete work, electrical, an entire new roof, insulation, garage doors and paint. With each part of the job, Carlos gave us a clear and fair estimate for not only the labor but also the materials. Many of the materials were difficult to source in Bay City, but Carlos was able to locate much of what we needed in Houston and arrange for delivery. I can't say enough good things about the entire experience of working with Carlos and his team. His communication was excellent and getting in touch with him to make changes or ask questions was always easy. I hired Carlos Garcia for several small jobs in my house. He was very punctual and responsive initially. He scheduled a meeting, and came to my house to see the job, and provided me estimates on the fly (I should have known that when someone is giving you estimates verbally, they are not professional). Anyways, he didn't seem professional, so I decided to cut the job into two phases so that I can learn about him and his team's work ethics and then give him the rest of the project. Glad I did that! Carlos told me that he has licensed electricians, and a team of people who can do anything around the house. I asked for wiring into my outdoor patio, install fans, install the patio sun shades, as well as repaint it. We agreed upon a price, and date. A day before the scheduled time, I went to purchase the items online, and then met Carlos and his team members at Home Depot store to pickup the material. I was on the hook to buy the sunshades, while Carlos was suppose to buy everything about the electrical work including the PVC pipes, outdoor grade switches and outlets. A few hours into the job, I came to check-in, and I found out that the electrician was trying to bury the wires without the PVC pipes underground (a red flag, as I have already discussed with him that it would be PVC pipes, sealed for weathering and all outlets and switches will be outdoor / water proof). When I confronted Carlos about it, he became a little frustrated but didn't say anything and went to buy the PVC pipes and parts since that was part of the job; meanwhile the rest of the team kept working on the sunshades on the top of patio. When I checked their work, they had the SunTuf horizontal closure strips installed wrongly even-though I had showed them manufacturer video before the installation - now the shades are about an inch offset from each side diagonally on a perfect rectangle. Not a big deal, but shows the workmanship, and professionalism. Instead of fixing and perfecting their work, these guys are into taking short cuts. Meanwhile, the electrical job resumed again, when I came to check on it, I came to find out that they had used wrong PVC extensions; instead of using a L shaped to walk into the patio, they combined two elongated V shaped and thought it would pass the smell check. It looked crooked lines of PVC trying to make its way into the patio. Looking at the the switch box, I saw exposed holes at the top that are open for water. Clearly he didn't have any licensed electrician while he charged me for the price of a licensed electrician. When I confronted him, he became irritated and angry at me in front of my family members, and raised his voice and finger and claimed that that I had told him that there will not be an inspection (I never did, I asked him if I can get it inspected, will he fix whatever is found). At this point, it was clear that Carlos Garcia and his team is useless bunch. I didn't want any more confrontation with him anymore, I simply paid his dues and decided not to hire him and his team anymore. They have no idea about the customer service, nor they are certified to perform any job at any house. I would NEVER recommend Garcia Home Renovation to anyone. read more
