During the installation, they caused severe damage to my front yard, including destroying a rare and expensive Japanese maple tree. Their method of "protecting" plants was just throwing a tarp over them, which did nothing to shield them from falling shingles and tools. A three-story ladder fell on my shrubs, damaging several, and worse -- it also fell onto my brand-new AC unit, bending the top grill. Since then, the ventilator has been rotating only millimeters away from the edge on one side, at risk of scraping. On top of that, there were permit issues. It took multiple emails and calls from me -- both to the company and the permit office -- to get it straightened out. They tried to tell me that "approval of the drawings" was the same as having the permit approved, which was not true. The confusion dragged out the inspection process unnecessarily. They never offered to fix or compensate for any of the damage. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend them.

Jim Phelps, our Moss Roofing Consultant, did the initial roof inspection for hailstorm damage. Then, he advocated for us on our insurance claim, working on our behalf and in person during the insurance company's inspection, to get the claim filed super-fast. And just like that, we had our installation date set up for a few weeks later. Jim was so helpful and knowledgeable every step of the way. He went above and beyond to answer my detailed questions and to address any concerns I had. He stopped by the house more than once to show us shingle samples, show us what algae does to roofs and explain different parts of the installation process. He also came by when the inspector came out to point out the issues he had seen. This was great service, and I appreciated that. Install day came, and they started working on the roof at 6AM in the morning (even though we were told work would not begin until 7 or 8). Obviously this woke everyone in the house up. The project manager came by about halfway through the job, and was there for only for about an hour and then left and was never seen again. This made communication very difficult. At the end of the day, the work crew left a lot of trash everywhere including a lot of nails on my driveway. But the roof looked fine overall. The reason for the 3 stars were a few issues, aside from what was written above: 1. They damaged and dented my gutters. James called a handyman to try and get it fixed, but they only made it worse because that was not their expertise. 2. They had installed one of the roof stacks incorrectly, and I had to call to get it corrected. 3. We had agreed to a certain price, and they backtracked on that a bit when it came time for payment.
