This place is absolutley horrible in the way it is run. Ordered food witch they gave me a delivery time and were an hour late. I called and got an attitude and a half ass explination from someone who was the supposed manager "Val", when the food did get there it was cold and the completly wrong order. I cannot eat tomato sauce I called back to see how this could be fixed and the same "Val" told me too bad he didnt know what to tell me to call back the next day and talk to his manager. I called today and he told me he is not in and refuses to call him. So problem still not solved. I dont know who runs a buisness like this but the disrespect for customer satisfaction is insane.. I always order from here, I've been a customer since i moved to Throgs Neck in 2005, but today was the worst experience ever. I was yelled at and scolded as if i was a child. I placed an order over the phone for a pizza pie, garlic knots and a soda, and when I went to pick it up i was told to wait a few minutes which gave me the impression that my food wasn't immediately ready. I stepped outside along with everyone else, because we all know that at this time safety is in practicing distancing. I was flagged to come back into the store shortly after. There was a tall balding gentleman (i use the this term loosely) who started to yell into the crowd asking who ordered a chicken salad??? When i ignored him like everyone else did he became irrate and agitated while directing his attention toward me. He yelled pay attention and chastised me about being on my phone and not listening. I WAS LISTENING WHICH IS WHY I IGNORED YOU, BECAUSE THE OTHER GENTLEMAN (who was very nice by the way) ALREADY KNEW MY ORDER AND TOLD ME TO WAIT AFTER I PAID!!!!!...Im sorry Mr. but you dont address paying customers like scum. I don't spend my hard earn dollars to be disrespected when i purchase food. There are a ton of pizzerias on Tremont Ave, please try them all before you waste your money here. I order delivery from Cestra's all the time. The pizza crust is crispy and the sauce and cheese is good for a typical pizza pie. But what stands out are the specials. Cestra's specials menu is a really great deal. We always go for a special depending on what we are in the mood for either a salad or baked ziti. The special also comes with garlic knots and a two liter Pepsi for $24. They also always deliver to my hard to find address with no issues ever. I order a margherita pizza, when delivered, the middle of the box looks crushed. i open my pizza and half of the cheese is on the roof of the box.. paid 29.74 for large margherita and a can of sprite (plus tax and delivery). gave the pizza back to the driver. asked if he can call the store.. this idiot lies and says his phone is dead, after i just watched him use his phone before exiting the car. he tells me to hold the pizza, call the store to get a replacement. i can tell by looking at this dope fiend that something was off. i tell him to take it back with him, i need a refund and walk away before he has a chance to say anything else. i go inside to call the place for my refund and they dont pick up the phone. had to go through grubhub to get my refund from these clowns. never again, too many pizza shops around to put up with this bs from these suckers read more

I've been going to Cestra's for as long I can remember. The pizza is, well, DELICIOUS!. All the ingredients just right with that nicely charred bottom..always firm, never floppy. The eggplant parmigiana is one of my favorite non-pizza foods at Cestra's...they don't use that fake Italian bread that many of the fast-food chains use and the eggplant is definitely fresh and tasty. The staff is friendly and very attentive. During lunch time the place is very busy but they seem to in in total control. I just signed up with their new text messaging program by texting CESTRA to 555888. I started yesterday and got 10% off plus a free order of garlic knots. read more

Came here for the first time on my girlfriends recommendation. I was a bit sceptic at first due to some of her other recommendations. Glad to say she was right. She got a grandma slice along with an order of garlic knots. Her slice was really good and the garlic knots were even better. You can taste that they were fresh. For me I decided to go with a chicken parmigiana hero. It was amazing. Everything was cooked to perfection. Only downside I would probably have to say was that it was a bit on the thin side. But certainly not a deal breaker. Definitely have a new go to place that's by my house. Would certain recommend it to others. read more

Cestras pizza is decent albeit forgettable. What I really mean is that I am a pizza snob. And while this is "good" pizza, it's missing the love that goes into preparing a pizza that makes you think about the next slice while you are halfway through the one your eating. This place has terrible customer service. For about 3-4 weeks I was ordering the same pie two to three times a week(I like pizza). So after getting home from work and ordering the same pie, the delivery guy gets here. I put the pie on the table, set the table for the family, open up the box and it's an entirely wrong pizza. They sent me a sicilian pie covered with olives. When I called to tell them what happened, they tried to convince me that that's the pie I had ordered. I used to work here as a delivery guy. Good pizza, excellent crust and sauce. Many of the toppings are made in the store too, with the exception of the pepperoni. Oh, and the mushrooms are canned, too. The real star here is the food, though. It's all good, from the pasta dishes to the heroes. Especially anything with grilled or fried chicken in it. The crust was a bit gummy. Great pizza, you bite into it and it detaches easily. The Chicken Parm Calzone tastes like it was sitting there all day, no flavor... blah. I live in the area & tell everyone about Cestras my nephew attends Ft. Schuyler Maritime College & he loves there food as do other cadets my brother who just moved to Florida came to visit & made a stop to Cestras to get there lasagna slice & he loved it my nieces from Boston always ask me to get them a pie when they visit I don't know how anyone can complain about this place they are definitely better than Louis & Ernies on Crosby there is so much cheese on the pies I never get extra cheese. Ok so I am not from New York, but I did work at a pizza place for over 4 years that was founded by a family who is. Anyway slightly irrelevant so onto the pizza review. I got a large pie with bacon, sausage, and pepperoni. Quality of the meat was great, alot of flavor. When you put it all together though all I could taste was the meat, specifically bacon. It was overwhelming. I had to scrape alot of stuff off in order to eat it. It was just too much. I like to taste sauce as well as the cheese on a pizza and I couldn't do that here. Also the crust was a bit chewy for my taste. I'm not against giving them another try, but it won't be for a while. read more

I have been ordering Cestra's salads for a few years now on a regular basis. Tonight I called in an order for pick up. The guy on the phone was telling me that they don't make the salad that I have been ordering a few times a month for years. I told him, "Yes you do I order it all the time." He took the order. 5 minutes later another guy calls to confirm my order if 3 salads and one if them was now a roll! I corrected him and then went to pick up. My order was 26.25. I handed the guy 40.00 and he handed me a big box and my change rolled up. I got home and saw that he had shorted me 10.00 I had only 3.75. I called and the same clown who took the original order tells me that I should have checked my change in the store. I remind you that I have been a loyal regular customer and good tipper for years. I told him that he had received his last order from me. I will never order from Cestras again. The ignoramus on the phone cost them a loyal customer. read more

The food is very good here, and the employees are very nice. But the owner is a VERY nasty man. After speaking with him about a mix up with the order, he not only yelled and said he wasn't bringing the correct order, he also hung up on me.
