Decent Thai place near the Northcenter. After a planned meal with a fellow YELPer didn't go through (original restaurant was closed) we opted for this Thai place nearby! It's definitely a delicious and affordable Thai place but it's not my absolute favorite. Food: I love tom kha soup and red curry. Those are the key Thai staples I order whenever I try a Thai place. The Tom Kha soup which is traditionally a creamy-coconutty broth was orange here. It tasted okay but it's not what I am used to, or what is traditionally Thai. The red curry (which I ordered mild) was definitely mild. It was good but not something that I would return for. What I love at C'est Bien Thai is their frozen bubble teas. They use a young coconut-flavor for their coconut blended ice drinks and it was delicious! I would come back just for their blended beverages! Notes: Street parking. It is my absolute favorite casual thai spot. the green curry is MY FAVORITE-seasoned great and isn't sweet like a lot of other places. Also, BEST crab rangoon: consistently good, never cold, delicious and crunchy. Other honorable mentions: pineapple fried rice, tom kha soup, any and all of their noodles are great. This is not Pad Thai... I can't even finish it. There were only 3 chicken pieces in it, only 3 shrimp pieces, and the noodles... MY GOD the noodles... were so crispy hard. Crispy noodles are supposed to be stir fried soft noodles with a crispy yet soft texture. The noodles were so OVERCOOKED they didn't even taste or feel like noodles. I appreciate that this spot if open late because I am always looking for spots to eat late at night. The service was fast and all the workers here are very nice and accommodating. My fried had the pad woosen noodles with chicken which was VERY good and spicy to our liking! I had the green curry with tofu, which in my opinion was alright I prefer mine a little sweeter and here it was more coconut milk-y BUT I did really like the Tom yum soup! Portion sizes are also very decent and pricing is cheaper than most Thai places I have been. Out late-ish (10 pm) and Mrs Murphy's pub kitchen was closed. We saw C'est Bien across the street was open til 11:30. Having missed dinner we thought--worth a shot. My Tom Yum soup and C'est Bien Crepe (was really like a good scallion pancake with shrimp) were great. My husband's Cashew Nut tofu dish was just as good. The three dishes were plenty for the two of us and the price was reasonable. Open late, nice people serving, really good food. Win-win-win. Lovely when necessity means a serendipitous find. Have dined in twice and had delivery at least half a dozen times. Excellent and authentic Thai dishes, the Boat Noodle is especially good, as is the Basil Duck. Panang Curry is creamy and very flavorful too, not too sweet. Friendly staff, and the cozy corner restaurant also has large windows in front to watch the world go by. read more

We tried this place after a gentleman at Trader Joe's suggested it. The food was really good! We tried a bit of everything. The Pad Woonsen (add seafood) was my favorite along with the beef appetizer. Also the service was great. Everyone was warm and welcoming...very accommodating. Among other things, I ordered the green curry through DoorDash. The menu description specifies "served with jasmine rice." When I received my order, there was no jasmine rice. I honestly wouldn't have minded paying for rice separately it that would have guaranteed its inclusion. The curry does have a slight kick, and the rice is pretty essential. Unfortunately, I didn't have any rice at home that I could make. And even if I had, that would've added another 30 minutes to the whole process when I specifically ordered delivery because I didn't have time to make dinner in the first place. I ended up eating the cucumber salad and going to bed. It was fine, but nothing to write home about. When I did eventually try the curry (the next day, after going to the grocery store and making my own rice), I found the overall flavor lacking (in my experience, curries are usually better the second day, so take that for what it's worth). I tried adding a little salt, but I think maybe it's missing umami from the composition. Somehow it tasted bland even though there was flavor. I know. That doesn't even make sense when I type it, but that's the only way to put it. I tried adding a little salt, but that didn't achieve the same depth of flavor I'm used to from other Thai restaurants. Just one visit so far ,but C'est Bien has already secured itself as one of my favorite hole-in-the-wall Thai spots in the city. I came for lunch on a lazy Tuesday and the restaurant was mostly empty. The atmosphere is open and casual and clean. Service was quick and friendly. They have an excellent lunch menu with $7 options as well as a full menu typical of all your favorite Thai fare. What made this restaurant stand out for me was that the food was light and flavorful without being drowned in oil and soy sauce or overcooked and old-tasting like so many Thai restaurants in Chicago. The oil use was minimal and all the ingredients tasted fresh and cooked just enough. I had the tom kha soup with tofu and the mixed vegetable with chicken lunch special. The soup was more orange than I have typically seen Tom kha (usually more white) but it was flavorful and delicious without being too heavy from the coconut milk. The stir fry had a delicious light soy sauce that was full of flavor without being heavy or oily. The veggies were fresh tasting and crisp and the chicken was not dried out and overcooked. Seems like a simple thing to accomplish but Chicago Thai really struggles in those areas. So happy to have found a place I like not too far from my home (but not really close either - it's still worth the drive). I'll be back to try more dishes. read more

And like many places, for some reason now, they neglected to fulfill a request for utensils. C'est Bien actually sounds as same as the word "food stash" () in Thai. We came here because they have several unique noodle dishes that are hard to find elsewhere in Chicago. I ordered "Khao Soy", which is traditionally a northern Thai thick noodle dish with curry and coconut based soup with crispy noodle and chicken on top. Although I'm not familiar with this dish, I really liked it. The noodle was very well executed; it was tender, chewy and cooked just right. The chicken was also very good. Even though they were white meat, they were cooked to perfection. Most of my friends' noodle dishes were very good too. They described them as 5 out of 5. For dessert, we got an order of Green Tea Ice Cream and an order of Fried Banana. We loved both dessert. The ice cream was good because it's not too sweet. The Fried Banana was really delicious. I liked how they put coconut inside to give an unique crunchy texture. In short, I highly recommend this place! read more

My journey to find the best pad thai in the United States has brought me to C'est Bien Thai. I ordered the vegetable pad thai and the vegetable pad see eew. More like pad see EW. Quite possibly the worst I have ever had. Pad thai was better, but tbh anything could've been better so that basically means nothing. I take off the lid and what do I see... green beans. Green beans?! Never have I ever had a green bean in my pad thai!!!!!!! I move the green bean aside. Beneath it lies a soggy tomato. A tomato!!! A tomato????? I was dumbfounded. This is pad thai, not salad. The rest of the vegetables were literally turning brown so I didn't eat a single one. Rice noodles? More like spaghetti. Thumbs down on the spaghetti. Ever since moving to Chicago 2 1/2 years ago, we've been looking for a go-to Thai place. We've finally found it in C'est Bien! Nothing fancy, but a clean, neat, uncluttered space and a reasonably-priced menu full of good stuff. So far my wife and I have tried the fried pot stickers, the Thai beef salad, the Tom Yum soup and the cashew chicken. All of them were among the best I've had anywhere. The Tom Yum was particularly good: rich, spicy and filled with chicken, mushrooms and tomatoes. Unlike a lot of Thai places, they also have beer on the menu. We tried a Wild Tonic Blueberry Basil Kombucha with our meal. Sweet, but delicious with Thai food. read more
