I've been here many, many times over the years and never had a bad experience. It's very good to excellent food relatively cheap. I *always* pick my own food up - that matters a lot! I wonder if delivery issues beyond TC's control are why the average rating is only 3.8. IMO, this restaurant deserves a rating in the low to mid 4 range. It's not worth going out of your way for if you don't live nearby. But if you ARE in the area, Tac Quick should be one of your go-to's for takeout. We stopped here on a random adventure, and we will definitely be back! The duck curry and garlic chicken were very flavorful. This was the first time I'd seen grapes in a curry, but it worked! The larb was also a great starter. Mangoes are out of season, so we couldn't get the mango sticky rice, but the banana in a blanket was a really nice substitute. Portion sizes let us get an app, a main, and a dessert without being miserable. The ambiance was really low key, and pretty quiet (it is a Tuesday night). I've been going to TAC Quick for many years. It's my favorite go-to Thai restaurant. The food is incredible. Everyone I have brought has loved it. The prices are reasonable. And the space feels relaxed. It's typically not too crowded. So it's easy to get a seat and have a conversation. The only thing I wish they'd fix is the temperature. It's been cold, every time I've been over the years. For those going, it's hard to go wrong on the menu and there's a lot I've never had. Regardless my top 3 entrees are... #1 is the curry catfish (aka Pad Ped Pla Duk). It's mind blowing. I found it a few months ago. It'll be hard to get myself to order something different now. #2 is the duck curry. There was a few year stretch where it was the only thing I ordered. #3 is the Kaeng keow waan kai jeaw (eggplant, green curry, over omelette , meat selection). Came to this spot for a quick Thai food fix and was happy to find their lunch special. The Pad Thai was good--not a standout, but no complaints at that price point, especially with a side included ($8.95). My husband's drunken noodles were very flavorful, and I also enjoyed the sai krog Isaan, which was an excellent side dish. Walked here from our place on a Sunday evening- Cubs had played an afternoon game and we didn't want to have to drive anywhere in the area. Pleasantly surprised that there were many tables open and we could pick our spot. Inside is pretty and honestly much nicer than I expected! There's a large cocktail menu- I ordered a MaiTai and husband ordered a wrong island iced tea (get it ?;). Both were really tasty and quite strong. Shared eggrolls for the app- good but not great- a bit greasy. I ordered pad Thai with pork and it was delicious. Husband ordered panang noodles and it was good- but know that it is long on red and green peppers. Portions are adequate but not huge. Service was very good. Very cool interior of the restaurant with a lot of Thai movie posters and artwork. The workers were very friendly and came to check on us very often which is always appreciated. After traveling to Thailand last year we were looking for our favorite dish that we tried which was Khao soi. We were very pleased that the khao soi and Thai iced tea were both very good! The green tea cheesecake was good, but kind of felt like a frozen and defrosted cake, so I would probably pass on that. I will definitely be returning for more Khao soi in the future! read more

I placed a takeout order from their website, so I really had no interaction with any of the staff members other than when I arrived to pick up my food. We ordered the usual, Chicken Satay, Pad See Ew for my wife and Pad Khee Mao for me. I've definitely had better Chicken Satay. The chicken was ok, but the salad it came with was not food and the peanut sauce to dip the chicken satay was not good at all. Way too watery and no flavor. I'm prefer my sauce thick so when you dip the chicken in, it sticks. The Pad See Ew came with chicken, stir fried noodles, broccoli, Chinese broccoli, egg and sweet soy sauce. I had a few bites and it was very delicious. My Pad Khee Mao was very tasty. I always ask for it extra spicy and it's a hit or miss. Not from here. It was indeed spicy. Oh boy what do I have to say about this place...it's fantastic! It has a big menu but what surprised me about TacQuick is that everything I've had has been delicious. From beginning to end the food was delicious! We started off with the veggie potstickers, I've never had potstickers with this consistency and creaminess inside! And just skillful preparation made that happen! I had the Penang noodle dish with crispy fat noodles, chicken and shrimp; it was very well done and so flavorful! I wanted to try a dish I don't usually get, and this did not disappoint! My friend got the duck curry and eat mouthful was met with another "Mm!!" We even got dessert,tiramisu, which was also yummy! The ambiance of the restaurant is unique with old movie posters all around. My only complaint was the music was a bit too loud and it was very Taylor Swift and Backstreet Boys-ish. Tac Quick is a very versatile restaurant because it's a great place for a good lunch special, dinner, or some fun cocktails! I don't have great pictures of the food because I got takeout this time, but their food comes out so fast, is often big portions, and is full of flavor. My go to order is the peanut curry noodle soup with tofu. It's a bit sweet and savory, and would be even better with a little kick of spice. This is a great restaurant for vegetarians because with most dishes, you can substitute the meat with tofu. Tac Quick has surprisingly good martinis. They have fun and unique flavors - Thai tea or lychee or sake. And they are strong! In the summer when their windows are open or the patio seating is available, it's a great place to grab a drink after work. The restaurant has a lot of seating and unless you have a really big group, you can usually get a table without a reservation. The restaurant is a two minute walk from the Sheridan red line or there is street parking on Irving. This is a good option if you need dinner after a Cubs game and want to get away from the craziness of Wrigley! read more

Went here on Thursday night after Wrigleyville Chriskindlemarket. The service was fast. Food was excellent. Prices were great. I had the Basil Shrimp , with Jasmine rice. The shrimp were on the small side but succulent. The vegetables were ultra fresh. The dish was well seasoned with just the right amount of spice. Nice portion but no leftovers. I did not have a drink but looks like a well stocked bar. Full wine racks to the side. There was a couple at the bar upon entry and still there when I departed I did visit the ladies restroom. Nice artwork and for the most part clean with cleaning supplies in sight if you need to tidy up. I would like to visit here again to try their drinks and that private menu. read more

I've driven by this place multiple times and could never quite make out what kind of restaurant it was... but it always looked like a fun place. Finally walked over and checked it out. I love Thai food and Tac Quick did not disappoint. I started with the lychee martini and it was pretty good... a little sweeter than I prefer but that didn't stop me from gulping it down. My mother had an appletini and was quite happy with how it tasted (she's picky about her appletinis, too!). My mother ordered the chicken satay and cucumber salad, and confirmed that both were excellent. I had the pad see ew, which was also excellent. The noodles practically melted in my mouth. I don't love when the broccoli is so large I can't easily eat it in one bite, and I had to cut it with a knife to keep it manageable. Still delicious. We also ordered pot stickers, which did not look at all like a pot sticker I've ever seen. It did not taste anything like a pot sticker I've ever tasted. A Thai restaurant located just north of Wrigley Field a few blocks. It's a good option to go before/after games that isn't super crowded like every place on Clark. It still has a full bar, and a decent craft beer list, and quality Thai food that isn't too expensive. So you can eat/drink before/after a game and not have to worry about long wait times and lines. It's what I've done twice now and its worked out well. It's located just under the Sheridan red line stop, and there's plenty of parking along Irving Park. I'm not too familiar on the exact dish names, but I've gotten several appetizer dishes and enjoyed all of them. A good addition, and change of pace, to the Wrigley area. read more

Love this place! Has great food, and we actually ordered catering from here for our engagement party last year (we got engaged in Thailand so there was a theme). One thing I'd recommend is changing the delivery container for the calamari. I love the calamari here, but it literally is melting the styrofoam container that is a little unsettling to think about eating (see picture). Either they need to cool the calamari before putting it in from straight from the fryer, or change the packaging. read more

We have lived in the neighborhood for 30+ years and started going to Tac Quick when they first opened on Sheridan. The food was always good. They moved to their current location on Irving Park Road about five years ago (more or less), and in my opinion, their food quality has dipped considerably since then. When my husband saw where the food was from, he reminded me that the last time we had ordered from Tac Quick (that may have been over two years ago), we said "never again." I had forgotten about that! And tonight's meal did nothing to change our minds. Just a simple order...Spring Rolls, Pad Thai and Panang Curry. The Spring Rolls were okay...but nothing great...they were loosely rolled and almost falling apart. Both the Pad Thai and Panang Curry had an off-flavor...like the water used was not fresh. Although the food was delivered quickly, the Pad Thai noodles were dry and stuck together. In addition to the off flavor, the Panang Curry portion was tiny. One of the best Thai places I've been to! We started off with the Moo Ping ( a grilled pork skewer appetizer) and the sai krog isaan (a delicious pork sausage). Both had a rich smoky flavor and were interesting to try. I'd definitely recommend them if you haven't had it before! For our entrees, I enjoyed the duck curry and basil duck the most. The basil duck was a stir fry in a sweet sauce, but definitely had a mildly spicy kick to it. The duck curry has your typical red curry sauce-- delicious... but also came with some summery fruits: pineapples and grapes. I'm not a huge fan of cooked fruit, but if you like that, I would try the duck curry. The basil pork belly had a very similar flavor profile to the basil duck but it was definitely overcooked. We also thought the Thai iced coffee and tea were way too sweet, but it was more bearable after all the ice melted and diluted the sugar. The flavors were there though, so maybe try asking for half sugar. Overall, a great Thai place! The secret menu items are where it's at. read more

Excellent meal!! Once again a trip to Chicago isn't complete until we order from Tac Quick. We tried several new dishes this time and some new favorites were found. Panang curry chicken and Chinese broccoli are solid favorites and ones we can always count on to order and enjoy. The next 3 dishes Kuay teaw ped, Yum woon Sen talay, and Kao tom pla turned out to be a few new favorites. The Kao tom pla was a flavorful soup and will certainly be ordered again and we will probably try it with shrimp the next time. I had the Yum woon Sen talay and enjoyed it, but would try something more flavorful next time. I was looking for bolder flavors and more seafood to balance out the noodles. Well, that may be true but our experience was not stellar. First, customer service is good. Our server was very friendly and was happy to offer suggestions. That's cool. I ordered their lard na, and tiger cry. The tiger cry was fantastic. Very flavorful and meat was very tender. My lard na was awful. Bland and blah, soupy broccoli, and chunky gravy. Not to mention, all of our food was served on paper plates. Paper plates?!!!!!! For an eat in restaurant?! And it was half the portion size, yet they have the nerve to charge full prices.
