This place is terrible. I just had the worst Shrimp Tempura, a cloyingly sweet red curry, a garlic-less garlic noodle dish, and overall the chinseist dishes out there. Every aspect of the meal was so underwhelming, it's hard to start where. Flat(literally) tasting Shrimp Tempura over bland refried rice. two eggrolls with ten cents worth of ingredients ($7.00), some ridiculously cloyingly sweet red curry, zero heat, Garlic noodles with no garlic, is that enough? I have tried this place on several occasions, but this was the last straw, not to mention the tiny portions. I wish I could get a refund. Anyone who gives this place a positive review is either lying, friends of the establishment, or doesn't have a clue what Thai food should taste like. read more

The rice has great flavor, and the pork is juicy and seasoned. The pad see ew without bean sprouts was made correctly and good but could've had just a little bit more flavor. First timer and I can't wait to come back! The food was SO good. I got the amazing Lunch special which includes an appetizer meal and a drink. I ordered an egg roll and red curry with chicken. The online ordering system was easy to use and my food was ready fast. The crab rangoon was crispy and had a lot of cream cheese, but no surimi at all, which was kind of expected since this came free with my order. The papaya salad was delicious, fresh, and had a kick to it. The crab rangoon and the salad paired well together. The shrimp tom yum soup came with 3 shrimp, which I thought was great with the straw mushrooms! The flavor of the soup was on point. Lastly, the beef pad see ew was tasty but I wish they had more greens/broccoli, or any veg in there. I asked for hot sauce on the side and they gave me plenty. It was a hot day, so we started out with Thai Iced Teas and Iced Coffees - so refreshing and decadent. I got chive dumplings for an appetizer, which I had not had before. Thai chives have a delightful taste (slightly stronger than French chives) and were contained in a pillowy soft dumpling, along with a rich dipping sauce with a wonderful kick. The Pad See Ew with beef was incredible. The noodles had that delicious sweet/salty/umami taste from the caramelized soy sauce that perfectly complemented the tender beef. read more

The crispy chicken was beautiful. The Tom yum was absolutely delicious. And even though online it said it would take 30+min before it would be ready, they had my to-go order ready in about 10-15min. Best tom yum soup I've had in a LONG time! Unfortunately, soup is such a hit or miss at most Thai restaurants, but this was the perfect amount of spicy, limey, and sweet. We live at the intersection of Rogers Park and Edgewater. There are several choices in Thai restaurants. We have tried most of them and they are unsatisfying. When I saw Hello Thai open recently, I was both relieved and apprehensive. Would this restaurant break our bad streak of bad Thai food? I just went there and ordered directly. It seems to be run by a family with kids running around. I ordered their Thai Fried Rice and Egg Rolls. They efficiently put it together and folded the bag with care. I took it home and overall it was a good first step in food that seemed to be made well and tasted what I wanted Thai food to taste like. The one negative is their fortune cookies (which are not Thai) are horrorable. Will move into curry dishes next and may update this review. Give this small place a try. Driving home from Rogers Park and craving some Thai I took the opportunity to try out a new place. Hello Thai is on my route home to Edgewater and the reviews were pretty good so I gave it a try. First of all, it is less expensive than the other Thai places in the area. Let's see how the quality and flavor compare. I order the pad Thai with shrimp, a peanut sauce and crab Rangoon. I don't believe that that crab rangoon is thai or even Asian for that matter but it's yummy so give me a break . I picked it up 10 minutes later. Great service from friendly lady with her two adorable children. Pretty small so I know not to dine-in in the future. The pad Thai was very good. Generous portion especially given the reasonable price. It is close to Loyola and there were a few Loyola students picking up carry-out so perhaps they keep it affordable for the students. I got it medium spicy. Could have been spicier but I tend to like things spicy so I probably should have ordered it with more spice. It was flavorful with a good portion of shrimp that was well cooked. I can't stand overcooked shrimp. Crab Rangoon was hot and crisp with good crab flavor and sweet sauce. The peanut sauce was as good as any other that I have had. It's a bit farther than my usual Thai place but for the price and the quality of the food, It's worth me driving a bit farther. read more

A little disappointed. I ordered Thai iced coffee, which I was really looking forward to after a not so great day at work. They sent Thai iced tea. Not a fan of Thai iced tea. Glad to see that their pad see ew had Chinese broccoli as I am not a fan of typical broccoli in Asian dishes. Unfortunately I found the overall flavor lacking in the dish. My experience with pad see ew has been a combination of slightly sweet/spicy. This was lacking both of those. I added a teaspoon of sambal oelek and that made it much better.
