First-time homeowners, will be using this company again. Our tech Aaron was clearly knowledgeable about his craft and took pride in his work. We were very thankful for his communication, honesty, and dedication throughout the project. We recently purchased an old house and found out the chimney was in desperate need of a liner after we had a carbon monoxide scare. Aaron and his partner re-routed the venting system and added the chimney liner. They cleaned up after themselves and Aaron took the time to show us how the new venting system was creating an upward draft, simply from the way he rerouted the pipes. This assured us that everything was taken care of and we won't be having any carbon monoxide back drafting issues again. I would 100% recommend Aaron and this company for your chimney service needs. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and appreciate how patient, hardworking, and helpful Aaron was throughout the process. read more

Let me start by saying this is how companies lose customers. I have used Certified Chimney Inspections to sweep and certify my wood stove now for at least 5 years. In that time I have never had an issue with their services until yesterday, 9/22/26. The technician that arrived (Aaron) reviewed the wood stove on the inside and first stated that the pipe connected to the stove, which was an elbow pipe was not up to code and need to be replaced with a t connection as creosote can build up and cause a fire. Second the technician then went on the roof and told me that the chimney stack (pipe coming out of the roof) was not actually rated for a wood stove but instead a gas stove so it needed to be replaced. The total cost for everything was $3000 dollars to complete along with roof work which was not included in the replacement. At this point I asked how could the stove have been inspected by your company twice (two different technicians) before and not be told my system was installed incorrectly. I was told by the technician (Aaron) that the previous technician that inspected the system, (Josh) was a bad apple and no longer with the company which would explain the oversite. This clearly was not an acceptable answer and I stated that my system was then not certified correctly and could have potentially caused a fire for multiple years. Note this is before I knew multiple different technicians inspected the system which rules out the bad apple story (Second technician Angel). The technician did acknowledge that this was not a desired situation and stated he simply was providing his assessment and what needed to be done. I asked for a follow up from management and he left stating no work was done to inspect the system as it was not able to pass based on his assessment. About a half hour after the technician (Aaron)left, he called stating he was incorrect on his assessment of the chimney pipe and that he indeed was able to validate that it was indeed the correct rated pipe for a wood stove. Again I asked for a call from management today or tomorrow, 9/23/26. I did not receive the call on 9/23/26. I instead called around noon time on 9/23/26. I spoke with (Alex), manager at the company. He was somewhat aware of the situation but not fully so I provided the rest of the detail. Excuses were made by Alex stating his staff was fully trained however based on my experience with Aaron and previous technicians this was not the case. Currently the following is true. (Aaron) who arrived and inspected the wood stove on 9/22/26 was not aware of the proper pipe required for the stove. it was only after he left and further validated that the story changed and the correct pipe was actually being used. According to (Aaron) the t connection is required to pass inspection. When asking Alex if this was true he was unsure. Furthermore he made the excuse that the previous technicians probably did not want to bother me to replace the t connection even though (Aaron) is stating it is needed to pass inspection. I asked why would the current technician (Aaron) was not be bothered providing a $3000 quote where a $300 quite for previous technicians was bothersome. Let's not forget that when I pressed (Alex) on how (Aaron) stated that it was required for code neither (Alex) nor (Aaron) could provide the necessary change in code that required this change. When I asked Alex to make it right by inspecting and replacing the t connection for free due to the hassle received he stated that would absolutely not pay for the t connection. So currently I am sitting in a house with a wood stove that could have potentially been unsafe to operate because of an improper inspection by a company which this is their core competency. If I were you I would not use this or any other affiliated link for this company as they clearly are putting their customers at risk of a fire and attempting to scam them into buying equipment they do not need. Below are some links to avoid if you are worried you will use this service without awareness: https://www.certifiedchimneyinspections.com/services/chimney-sweep/johnston-ri/ https://www.yelp.com/biz/certified-chimney-inspections-north-smithfield-2 https://www.certifiedchimneyinspections.com/?sts=google&stm=cpc&stc=22526062021&stad=180019986398&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22526062021&gclid=Cj0KCQjw8c3VBhCsARIsAA_xJ93YSz4B2mp5wXPPW379zLCQD5J11QHU9EUod-pXH47aVTasG9QqvPIaAhyNEALw_wcB Note that the Better Business Bureau has also been contacted with the below statement: Certified chimney sweep company attempted to state a wood stove they inspected twice previously was not in fact installed correctly and needed a chimney pipe and t connection when previously not required at the cost of $3000.00. It was stated that the previous two separate technicians across five years from the same company were wrong which invalidates those inspections. Note this would also have required roofing services at a cos read more

Excellent! The guys are all well trained at Certified Chimney Inspections of North Smithfield. (401-337-7938) They offer all kinds of information, answer my questions and are very timely. They have always shown up on time and are very respectful. The quality of their work is top notch. I am more than pleased. Side note: Through ignorance, I was burning some wood that created a lot of creosote in my wood boiler and chimney. They explained, in detail, the best way to avoid that in the future. Now I'm confident that I will avoid a dangerous creosote build up again. I highly recommend this company to everyone. One more thing; as a single older woman, I've been screwed over a few times from other people. Certified Chimney is the polar opposite. The cost of their work is consistent and fair. read more

If I could give a 0 star I would. I have been schedule to have my chimney cleaned and inspected since Oct 22nd, I have now been rescheduled 4 times, usually at the last minute. I have been reasonable each time and asked them to please commit to getting the next appointment done. They continually promised they would come to the appointment each time, and when I called to complain I was told "its not my fault - this comes from the boss". They are liars. read more

Certified Chimney Inspections hits all the high points for a business- It was a five star experience on every level. The chimney desperately needed a liner and capping. When they had to reschedule due to a New England Noreaster. they went above and beyond to get there within the same week- despite being booked for weeks out. Ruth in the office moved heaven and earth to accomodate my needs, making herself available at any hour of the day to do the logistics. Zach, although young in appearance, was wise beyond his years regarding the needs and materials of the project and was able to do the proposal on the spot. When he and Sean came back to do the work, they were respectable, very tidy while they worked and had the project done in record time- even going above and beyond with a coat of paint on the piping to make it look as good as it functioned. Both were exceedingly polite and hardworking with young families at home- that they left on their days off to get the project done on the weekend after the storm. I highly recommend this company. Even though they are based out of Providence, they were on time coming to Cape Cod for my last minute call! Thank you CC Inspections for your stellar service. read more

Certified Chimney Inspections - Installation fits flawlessly into the original site. - Chimney Sweeps Near Me - North Smithfield, Rhode Island

Service was great they came at the time they said. Price was very reasonable. The tech was very knowledgeable.

Came 4 hours early Took 4 days to get an estimate. Had to ask for estimate then got cocky answer. Don't deal with them. You can give anybody money read more

I've set up an appointment with them to come in and inspect/clean my fireplace. They offered a date two weeks out, which was OK with me. On the day of service no one showed up. I called the company dispatcher and he told me that due to an internal error I was not even on the list. Offered me to reschedule, but I'd have to wait another two weeks. I have nothing to say about the quality of work. This is just a scheduling/customer management situation. My expectation is that given it is their internal error, they should have tried to accommodate me as a new customer and to give me a new service day within a week. read more

Certified Chimneys arrived on-time and clearly was focused on customer satisfaction. They helped fix the damper on our fireplace, looked for secure flashing around the chimney, and, of course, cleaned the chimney. Great satisfaction, indeed! read more

Certified service was out of this world. It took 4 phone calls with experts to solve our questions and insure our safety. Certified stayed with us, was polite and thorough. I really appreciate it! Sheila in Needham read more

Unfortunately, the customer service for this company is aweful. Online person asked if I needed help, I explained and they said give me a sec, they are just helping someone else at the moment. Turned into give me your email and number they will call you back momentarily, to take pics and details of fireplace you want i can share with them. To they are out in the field . So, after being on hold and online for over 20 minutes, its they will get back to you when? tonight, tomorrow, Monday? When i asked the rep to explain how we went from a moment to much later in the day, he told me he didnt need my business, apparently asking him to explain himself was rude. Well George is terrible at customer service. they lost a $4500 SALE for fireplace inserts it THAT hard to get a straight answer? Wonder what he owner of this company would say if he/she knew what their customer service reps are saying read more

I first worked with Certified Chimney Inspections a few years ago when I secured their services prior to the 2018 - 2019 burning season. They assessed that the chimney didn't need cleaning at that time - services they could have certainly needlessly rendered and charged for! Bill contacted me a few weeks ago about cleaning the chimney. While arranging for their visit, I also asked if they could replace the wood stove's fire brick. Their initial visit for an estimate and eventual visit to perform the work were completed in a most professional manner. We even asked Jamie, the technician, if he was able to replace a cap for a chimney we don't use, which he completed during his visit. We also suspected damage to our roof from a Raccoon. Jamie provided photos of damaged asphalt on the roof, which we used to secure services of our roofing contractor. In my opinion, you can't do better than Certified Chimney Inspections! read more

Don't do it! This is a scam. They are withholding a $700 deposit from me after failing to show, hanging up on me, saying "you were nice when we first talked to you" (yeah, because you hadn't scammed me yet). They also refuse to show covid protocols. No way I would trust them in my home now. Had to clear 4 high risk people out of the house for a day and they fail to show, fail to call, fail answer their phone, threaten me, hang up on me. This company is a clown show. Evil clowns. read more

Thorough and professional inspection. Explained everything from the boiler / fireplace to the cap and how it all fits together. I purchased a liner from them, and the prices were very competitive. The installation was fast and they sent the same crew out that did the inspection, which is a nice touch. read more

They were a pleasure to work with, knowledgeable, helpful with suggestions on my issue, responsive and on time.

Scam artists, fake company. Bill, or James has figured out a way to produce fake reviews on angies list and homeadviser, and continues running his scam. First, he will tell you that he can clean up for about 179, and if not possible, no fee. That will turn into 100 bucks service charge. Then he will show you double sided liner, but when the team shows up to install, they will show up with the cheap stuff. That will be another 100. read more

Worst contractor I've ever experienced and I have built or done major renovations in 3 homes and been the general contractor for most. They installed my own metal bestos as a chimney for my wood stove. Two of their lead technicians both absolutely refused to have any discussions with me about where to put the pipes or the wood stove relative to the wood stud wall behind it. The first would start talking over me when I tried and finally all I was able to get from him was a promise he'd install the chimney to meet national fire codes -- NOT EVEN CLOSE. He put single wall chimney within 7 " and less of my wood stud wall (code is 18")!! My wood stove is SUPER HOT so they didn't seem to care if my house would burn down, and they only came back to fix it after I stopped payment on the final payment (I had already paid them over $2000) and after calling me many names, threatening me, lying to and about me and refusing to listen when they asked me a question -- it was only after I threatened to made a fire code complain to Mass authorities that the owner of the company (who lied to me at the time pretending he was not the owner) called me and arranged to have them fix it. FYI, they had also left a gaping hole in my upstairs bedroom ceiling and taken back the collar that was supposed to go their to "get our money back" even though its cost had been included in my bid and they left a bunch of sawdust and other combustibles sitting in a cavity next to a hot stove pipe. When they came back the lead technician refused to work most of the time and sat in the van forcing me to work with his assistant to take apart, clean out all the combustibles they had left sitting in a cavity next to a burning hot pipe, and put back the pipes, insulate the open cavity etc.. (I had other important things to do). The lead technician also did other stupid things that would have taken them hours more to undo or correctly do but for my watching him (despite my being ordered not to be in the room or observe what he did, by the owner of the company who was still pretending to be someone else). To set the final straw of insanity, the lead technician REFUSED to leave my house or the premised AFTER I paid him in full and he was waving the check around and demanding I sign a document saying that I was fully satisfied with their work. Threatening to call the police as though we live under Sharia law in the US where anything a man wants a woman to do, no matter how illegal his demand, is criminal behavior if a woman won't do it and insisting he had every right to stay inside my house and on my property until I signed it!!! Thank Goodness my super nice carpenter was here and was able to usher him out the front door, although they still refused to leave my property for about 1/2 hour!!! Until almost midnight last night I was still receiving threats and lies about the law from the now, obvious, owner who threatened a defamation law suit if I told anyone about my experiences and was still threatening to fine me $500 and put me in jail and calling me a criminal for stopping payment on my earlier check. However, I have pictures of their illegal installation and witness to his lead installers crazy behavior. Needless to say I would not recommend hiring this company who seems to excel in threatening and abusing and refusing to be civil to their own customers. read more

Like some other reviewers on here, I tried to schedule an appointment, and three times they cancelled at the last minute--once day-of, and twice the day before. The third time, I requested that they maintain the original appointment, but they said that they didn't have anyone available. So why did they make the appointment? Unprofessional. Frustrating. read more

I am sorry to say I can't comment on the quality of their work because were unable to come at the scheduled appointment. I rescheduled and then they called to confirm for the next day, realized they made a mistake in the date and never called me to let me know. My wife took a day off work to meet the inspector for our 9-11 appointment. At 11:15 I got a call at work from Bill saying their truck had issues and they wouldn't make it today. I get it. Things happen. Not notifying someone until after their appointment ended though, that's not great. I asked if there was any discount since my wife lost an entire day of pay to their car issues. They refused. I asked if there would have been a cancellation fee if I had been the one to pull out at the last second, thinking maybe we could at least get a discount of that amount. Bill said "I think it's just better if we part ways" and hung up on me. I don't normally leave negative reviews, but this was ridiculous. read more

Horrible Company! I tried to hire this company twice. The first time, I made an appointment for between 2-4 pm, which I had to stay home from work for. They called to confirm the appointment the day before. They called me at 4:30 pm AFTER my slot and said they couldnt come. So I wasted the day at home waiting for them. They apologized, i decided to give them one more chance. I took a morning appointment, again booking the day off work, again confirming the night before. AGAIN they called the day of the appointment and said they could not come, were not in my area. HORRIBLE customer service HORRIBLE booking and have no regard for their customers at all. They expect people to take time off work and then dont show up. Don't use this company there are many others that treat customers better. read more

My heating contractor recommended having my heating flue cleaned. After making appointment with Certified Chimney they responded promptly and sent 2 professional technicians to my home for an inspection which revealed problems with the draft partly caused by damaged flue liner. They gave me a written estimate/quote on the spot, which included a lifetime guarantee in writing. After getting 2 other estimates I hired certified and they completed the repair. I would absolutely recommend them to all friends and neighbors. read more

Scheduling the initial appointment was a breeze. However things went down hill on the day of the appointment. 20 minutes before the scheduled appointment time they called to cancel. Then offered a reschedule time 3 weeks from now. While I understand things happen and rescheduling takes place. But it wasn't convenient for them to reschedule before that because they weren't going to be in my area. Gentlemen then claims I was taking it personal, I took time away from my schedule for the appointment that he cancels with 20 minutes notice and doesn't even apologize. Would not recommend to anyone ever. read more
