Connell roofing is a service you should avoid. I had them come out for an emergency snow removal service for a leaking roof. The pricing structure they described on the phone was not in line with what was offered to me when the company representative showed up to my house. I ended up paying over twice as much as I had thought to get the snow removed because they had a "minimum" price above the square footage of my roof. I had water leaking in my house and went with the price - but they do not conduct business professionally when it comes to providing accurate pricing information. They were also very poor with communication overall. I would look elsewhere for any roofing or exterior needs. Disappointing and I feel like I got taken advantage of by a company that has more than enough money to go around. read more

Many thanks to Matt Cabral and his expert team for a great job this week replacing a fair percentage of the trim on our thirty year old colonial. After the bad storms this winter, I noticed a small corner of trim had actually come off exposing the sheathing underneath. Fearing water damage, I called Connell Roofing who had put a new roof on our home 12 years ago (that looks as good as new), and did more modest trim replacement 6 years ago. Dennis and John were out the next day, reviewed all the trim around the house that had some damage, gave an estimate, and said they could start in only a week. While our house has sturdy cedar board siding, the trim boards are soft pine, and there were multiple areas of sunken wood consistent with rot underneath. The bad pine trim was to be replaced with PVC trim that will last a lifetime. When the day arrived for repair, Matt Cabral made another assessment and spotted a couple of additional trim areas that could be seen to need replacement now that all the snow was gone. Additionally he spotted that the chimney flashing needed replacement, and kept an eye on things as the work progressed. The team did a fantastic job removing the damaged pine trim and replacing it with the new PVC trim. It was clear they were experts and highly efficient. They were very careful not to damage the many trees and bushes around the house. When they left there was not even a nail on the ground! Thank you! read more

Connell Roofing completely replaced our roof in 2020 on a new purchase. The roof was covered in moss. Connell Roofing's sales person falsely represented to us that high end GAF shingle was warranted to repel moss, inducing us to pay thousands more than we were negotiating. Four years later the roof is growing moss and Connell Roofing denies making the false claims. Instead they charged us to come look and the roof and recommend we pay them more money to remove the moss from the roof. Connell Roofing has a fully staffed call center but instead of returning calls to try to address this situations, the president of the company would only email after business hours. After being left a bad review on Facebook, Connell Roofing is now manipulating its social media presence to hide the bad review. Connell Roofing has been reported to the BBB, the Massachusetts Attorney General's Office, and the shingle manufacturer for make false and deceptive business practices. read more

This is the second time we hire Ben at Connell roofing. The actually did our roof a couple of years ago and did a great job. I re-hired them to install gutters on newly built front porch roof. Process was straight forward. Asked for a quote online, Ben was very responsive and provided a good quote. Scheduled the install and the guys were here that day. Very professional and nice. We discussed adding leafguards and agreed to do that on the spot. One crew member started installing the gutters while the other one drove to bring the leafguards. All in all, it was efficient and the guys left the place clean. Great experience and highly recommended. UPDATED 7/24/2020: The customer service that Connell roofing provides is superb. After installing the gutters and for whatever weird reason, the rain water leaked behind the gutters. I contacted Ben and he gave it utmost attention. He sent his guys immediately and when that did not fix the issue, he sent the manager followed by the roofing guys until it was finally fixed. Dishonest and disrespectful. Overpriced, but was willing to spend more for quality. Big mistake. One star is for the people that did the work, which were terrific. Beware you will deal with a sales person, then project manager, then foreman for the day...and they do not talk to each other. Each step of the way, I had to tell them the same thing as they did not communicate with each other. President, who we had never spoken to, sent an email threatening to put a lien on our property and take legal action after his salesperson blew us off for over 2 weeks with a question. read more

Called to have some trim fixed that came loose in the storm. Person doing scheduling said they come with everything they need to fix and asked for payment to come out. I scheduled with them and when the guy came he didn't have a tall enough ladder. He then quoted me $1500 to reattach a piece of trim that came loose because he also thought soffit needed to be replaced but he hadn't even looked at it since he didn't have his ladder. I called to complain and ended up speaking with the president of the company who was very very rude. I haven't seen this company's actually work but after my exchange with the president I would never hire them for a job. Here a suggestion to them... train your people to explain to customers that the appointment is just to look at what needs to be done so they don't expect any work to happen that day. read more

They did a very professional job, cleaned up the site perfectly, and even made time to chat with my 92 yr old father about some of the finer points of the work they were doing. Adequate performance but beware of charges. Installed 2 1/2 sides of my house wood wood gutters for $15,000 but did not do caulking or paint. Estimated charge to do the painting was $$4,800. I had the same job done for $600. Need some slate repair and estimate was for 25 slates for $15,000 and possibly more if needed. Another highly rated roofer assured me that all I needed was replacement of 6 slates for $900, that attempting to replace others would possibly result in damage to still more by workmen on the roof. read more

Having experienced multiple failures of the roof after only a few years after installation - Connell refused to honor the Workmanship Guarantee and simply walked away. I did have the roof redone at my own expense - and it was confirmed by multiple contractors who inspected the installation - that the cause of the roof failure was poor workmanship. read more

I have called him numerous times to do either small or large repairs on my home and each time the business owner promptly arrives at my house exactly when he told me he would and gives me a fair price. I have had other companies do repairs before but none have seemed to have been of the same level of quality as Connell. Call them, you won't be disappointed. Connell Roofing installed my roof 10 years ago. Rain has recently caused the roof to leak.I called them to come out to the house and give me a price to fix it.I asked if it continued to leak would they come back and retouch it up for the money that I was paying them. Connell Roofing said they would.Needless to say their work that I paid for did nothing to stop the leak.After 2 weeks of phone calls beginning hours after they left they finally got back to me.They now want me to pay again for the same work that I already paid for that they couldn't fix correctly the first time. Connell Roofing has giving me nothing but excuses trying to get more money from me to re fix a leak that they were not able to fix the first time but had no problem taking a full payment at the time of the job.Connell Roofing just has a problem coming back completing the job once they are already paid. read more

Chris came and gave me a timely, thorough estimate. The people in the office were helpful getting the permit and keeping me posted. Zach was the project manager and had his crew complete the job in one day and cleaned everything up perfectly. They were easy to work with, friendly, efficient, and clean. They are on their 3rd generation of family ownership, but the youngest member of the family is not making the founder proud. Very unhappy to have met them. When I asked the foreman to come back to check a spot on the roof he came out in two days and went up and showed me photos of what I saw, which turned out to be nothing at all. After an ice dam winter, I needed a small section of my roof lifted and flashing put in (I'd guess maybe 50 square feet). They gave me an on the spot estimate of $8000. I nearly choked and said that I didn't want the entire roof replaced, just a small section. They held to their estimate. I got the job done for under $2000 (I had 3 estimates in the 1800-2000 range). I called them and emailed them to discuss this and they never responded. Here I was a local person trying to give a local company the job and feel they were just trying to take advantage of me. We used Connell Roofers about 14 years ago and have been trying to get our roof repaired by them since. At first it was all great and we were thrilled to be using a local company or our roof. We spoke with Bill Connell Sr. and it was decided we would reroof as opposed to removing every shingle. Not an uncommon practice and we were assured it would last. Six months after the roof was complete, we noticed a leak in our garage from the roof area. We called and Connell Sr. assured us it would be fixed. Someone did come to repair it .... several times .... and finally it was done. And, we still have the hole in the ceiling to prove it. No one ever cam back to repair the hole. Okay, it's the garage, we'll let it go. Several years go by and many of the shingles on the roof are curling and looking awful. I call and speak to Connell Sr. again who assures us he will take care of it in the spring. Several springs come and go and Mr. Connell Sr. passes away. Now I start dealing with Bill Connell Jr. and to say I have gotten no where is an understatement. He has no paperwork whatsoever on our job. As it turns out, I do not either for some files and the like have been thrown away mistakenly. Either way, it is dear that the roof is a huge problem. Connell Jr. comes over and tells me he'll redo the roof for $16k which is less than the 19k he should charge me. Big deal. I cannot afford that and feel it is his problem because obviously the shingles on the roof are defective in some way. He refuses to budge and insists this is fair. I ask him to get the paperwork and he promises to try. I offer to call the manufacturer and try and get some resolution. He says he'll tell me who it is. I never hear from him. Then I run into him at the post office and he says he'll get the paperwork from his sister who now has it all but doesn't talk to him. He'll get it though .... he promised. It's all a bunch of garbage and so is Connell Roofing. I have had more roofing companies than I care to mention stop and tell me how bad my roof is and that I should have it fixed. No kidding! I may need to sell my house and will lose a lot of $$ because the roof is such a mess. I am hoping to have someone fix it the end of the summer. Bottom line: DO NOT USE CONNELL ROOFING EVER. JR. IS A JERK AND IF HE'S NOT TALKING TO HIS FAMILY THAT SAYS PLENTY TOO. HE DOES NOT STAND BEHIND HIS WORK IN ANY FAIR WAY AND IS VERY DEFENSIVE WHEN YOU TALK TO HIM.
