Wayne did a great job inspecting the chimneys in the antique home we're looking at and explaining what was going on with them.

These people are a bit dodgy. They make one sided appointment and then call you up and say somethibg like "just calling yiu to remind you of the appointment you made." They did this to me are were snarky and rude about it when I suggested that I, in fact, did make an appointment. Call somebody else to clean your chimney. Anybody else. The answer from these folk below highlights their lack of customer concern. The actual fact is that I was snapped at on the phone by 2 different people all *telling* me that I made and appointment. This is farcical because when they finished my initial service I was fully of a mind NOT to call them back or use their service again. The idea that I made an appointment with them is preposterous. I'm will drop a similar review on Google and related sites so folks know. If the people who were snippy with me on the phone want to send a couple of apologies that would be the proper course of action. Otherwise, avoid these folks like a chimney fire. read more

Very responsive. I asked for a quote over the weekend and they replied within minutes. I was able to discuss with the owner over the phone the chimney issues I had. I then followed up and asked to have his staff come out for an inspection. We had an excellent experience with Horizon. They were professional and responsive, and they worked with our budget to help us identify the top priorities for the safety and efficiency of our chimney. The service providers themselves were on time and professional. They wore masks and practiced social distancing, but still took the time to talk to us and make sure we understood what they were doing and why. We are overdue in writing this review, as our chimney service was around last September. But as we were talking about home improvement projects today, Horizon's name came up in the conversation, and I was compelled to write a review. We were very impressed with their service. We moved into our house last August, and our home inspector said we had a dampener problem in the fireplace. We called Horizon, and our serviceman fixed the problem lickey-split. Being new homeowners, he explained how and when to open the flue, and he even took us outside to see what it looked like as open and closed in the chimney. He examined our chimney and gave us good advice as to what to expect in the future with maintenance and repairs. We will call Horizon again in the future! read more

Used them last year. It was our first time having a sweep and we found them online. Sweep was very nice. Charged us $189.00. Called them back this year and the kid says his boss was "mad" last year when he didn't up-charge for a missing door outside of the chimney. That would be an extra $150 charge. Obviously we sent him away. We called a guy out of Natick that was recommended and he laughed and said he didn't understand what they were talking about. He said he just had to do it from the outside instead of the inside and it was not a big deal. He did the whole job for $150 AND quoted a new liner for $1200 less than Horizon. I seriously cannot say enough good things about this crew. My husband and I bought our house in Sherborn 6 years ago, and we knew nothing about home ownership at all, nevermind having a fireplace/chimney to deal with! We were sort of afraid to use our wood burning stove without getting it checked out. So our first experience with Horizon (after researching a bunch of chimney places online and getting a few quotes elsewhere) was calling them, getting their lovely receptionist, and getting a call back pretty shortly thereafter from the owner himself. He quoted exactly what he thought the service we would need would be. Upon coming to our house, not only did he explain things without making me feel like an idiot, but he and his guys were warm, friendly, straight forward, AND THEY FOUND A FIRE HAZARD IN OUR FURNACE THAT THE HOME INSPECTOR HAD MISSED....So yeah, essentially they could have kept our house from burning down! We have used them for yearly maintenance every year since then, as well as two major projects - installing a new, more modern wood-burning stove, and most recently, installing a gas fireplace in our three-season (now four-season!) room. Both times, Derek (the owner) and his crew were knowledgeable, courteous, and came in right on budget. And they did a lot of the work for us (researching brands, making design recommendations, etc). I trust their crew so much that we typically aren't home when they do their thing; we just leave for work and leave them a check. I own a small business myself and I know what to look for with good customer service. I have recommended Horizon to every client I speak to who is in the market for help with their fireplaces and associated projects. Great job, guys!!! read more

These guys are great! I've used them twice and both times have been a fantastic experience. They're prompt, courteous, and professional. I have a 125 year old house that's three stories high and the service tech walked up top like a cat. Very clean as well, he didn't leave a disaster for me to clean up afterward. We used Horizon for a chimney cleaning a few days ago, cost us over $200 for the cleaning and they found a crack in the chimney lining (oil furnace), quoted us over $2,800 for the liner and suggested we get on the schedule immediately to have it fixed. With a cost like that, we of course wanted other quotes, brought in a second company today, they climbed up on my roof to inspect the full chimney, found the same crack and let us know about it. They also pulled off the pipe running from the furnace to the chimney and when they did, a pile of soot fell out - which they cleaned up for me. They did state that we may want to add a liner because of the crack but also told me that because it's oil and not gas, it's not an urgent situation, we just have to be aware of it because it will get worse over time. They also left a quote for the stainless steel liner with a lifetime guarantee and it was more than $1,000 less than Horizon's quote and no scare tactics of needing to get on the schedule immediately to get it done. read more

There are so many great things about this company. First off they were the only ones to return our call same day regarding an inspection on a home we just purchased. After the sale I noticed a gas smell coming from the chimney area. My husband thought I was going crazy! Well Derek's team came out the following weekend and informed us the gas line was coming out from under the chimney with no flu installed for safety! We could have had a really bad outcome but thanks to his team for coming out so fast that was all avoided! They walked us through the entire process and was even able to put in a wood stove so we could finally enjoy a fire. I can not thank Derek and his team enough for what they did for my family. My son is safe and I don't ever smell that God awful gas smell. So happy with the level of customer service and thorough work they provide.
