LOVE THIS PLACE! If you're on the fence, I'm here to help you decide. Last night was my 3rd visit, we were there twice before for dine in but it was my first time for takeout. Prior impressions were super positive, but last night really takes the cake. Prior visits included a weekday lunch indoor with friends (branzino was amazeballs), and a dinner visit on patio with our giant dog (short rib was incredible). Food and service were both on point, on both occasions. Cocktails were unique and yummy, and effective (!!). It IS an upscale place - and yes both quality and prices reflect that. So, IMO you aren't getting the bang for the buck with takeout, because part of what you are paying for is the artfully beautiful space and warm service. Esp at night it is super vibey, there are not many environments of this caliber in Alameda. Last night, with people on romantic dates and whatnot, I happened to walk in feeling self-conscious to pick up my to-go order, because covered in dust (following a Burning Man work day). First of all I was treated with complete and total respect by both the front staff and the manager, even though I looked a haggard mess. I was even invited to come and wait at the bar, however not only was I embarrassed but wanting to limit covid exposure so I opted to wait outside. While I was outside with idle hands (finally enjoying the front porch outdoor furniture and fireplace that I have looked at longingly while driving by) I was very pleased to observe that the entire staff was super diverse to a degree where it appeared to be a conscious effort to span a spectrum, which I personally really appreciated. This is not something I normally seek out in particular but it stood out as a very good thing to me in that moment. When my food came out, I happened to vocally express some personal concerns - and despite being unrelated totally to the quality of the restaurant - the manager Mike went *above and beyond* to personally help me with my concerns. His actions really made me feel seen and heard, and cared for in way that made me instantly a forever supporter of this business. As if I wasn't already heading in that direction, the kindness and white glove service here really sealed the deal. We had not been to Ceron for awhile and our dinner experiences previously were fantastic, A++. We went on the Saturday night of Fathers Day weekend to also celebrate a birthday. The restaurant was busy but not packed. We made a reservation through Open Table and our request for a booth was granted. Our service was good but nothing stellar, and I would say the same for our meals. This time, we would give our evening a C rating. The prices are expensive and we know this, but our experience this this time was overall, disappointing. Our wish is that Ceron remains successful, but hope they re-assess the overall experience, including management, they offer to customers in the future. read more

I've never given a 5 star review before, but this place was too good not to post about. The ambiance is impeccable, finally a reason to dress up for dinner! Our server was top notch, even though she apologized a lot for no apparent reason. I ordered the octopus tostada 10/10, the hamachi appetizer 10/10, and the risotto. Everything was presented beautifully, came out timely, and was prepared to perfection. Oh and i had an espresso martini, it was mid. My friend has the bird bath, i didn't taste it but the presentation was fun and made us giggle alot. I've been telling everyone i can to come here, it's definitely worth the praise (and i'm a chef so you can trust me :) I didn't take any photos, go and be wowed on your own, it was amazing! read more

We had an absolutely fantastic dinner at Ceron's last night! The food was delicious! Excellent steak, pork chops, fish, raviolis, appetizers, drinks & desserts! Top quality, good quantity and excellent, friendly service! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and a wonderful ambiance! Truly 1st class! It's our new favorite restaurant! Lunch on 1/20/24. 100% WOW! I am not easily impressed and I extremely picky when it comes to restaurants. Every thing we ordered was delicious down to the small dollop of house made marmalade on our cheese plate. I ordered seafood fettuccine and it was very rich and creamy. It had scallops, shrimp and king crab and not a single thing was overcooked. Tuna tartare was perfectly seasoned. Calamari was deep fried to perfection. One of us ordered a thick French toast with a coffee mocha and even that was delicious too. I mean this place was just all around excellent and we cannot wait to return for dinner. Been 2 other times.. was good. Tonight, service sketchy, she tried. My wife got sick from a blue cooked steak that wolves would have trouble chewing.... Got something different for my wife.....to sick to eat it. I paid anyhow....like a sucker..... and wanted to get mt wife home before she threw up again. Was told chef was upset from waitress..... but...no compensation. I paid and left...... Not going back. For those prices....which is ridiculous..... things should be a lot more attentive and better read more

High quality ingredients and find dining menu - but expensive items high but mediocre service. I can appreciate how much they are trying, however. it's a great place for lunch with business partners. Just be careful when you go. Make sure there's enough staff to get a good experience. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. Excellent menu. My friends and I like to share several appetizers which are the most creative aspect of the menu. My only concern and the reason for four stars is that the service is quite slow. But if it's a sunny day and you are not in a rush, enjoy the patio and take your time. read more

My two friends and I came here for brunch on a saturday to celebrate our friend's engagement and it was a total disappointment!! first of all -- the restaurant was almost empty and it took 30 minutes just to get our drinks. on top of that, one of our drinks was wrong! my friend had ordered her cocktail with tequila instead of mezcal and the drink still came out with mezcal. my other friend ordered a mocktail and it was very watery and flavorless. the waitress didn't really seem to concerned with taking our orders and checked on us infrequently (she didn't ask what we wanted for our main course until about an hour of us being there) the food was just ok -- for appetizers, we ordered the seafood chowder (which was fine but way too salty), the tuna tartare (which again, was fine, but lacked flavor), and the biscuits (which were actually very good but super tiny). for the tiny portion sizes and forgettable flavor, it was not worth the price at all. we didn't even bother ordering our main courses because we were already very disappointed at that point. read more

I came back 10 days later to have another relaxing meal--this time with my adult daughter. Each time Gala was absolutely engaging, professional and a great hospitality man. I was disappointed that Gala couldn't serve us. Both times we were cared for well by others. Arnold has been at that location with six years at Otaez before Ceron opened. Top-flight server. But Gala would be my first vote for a Server position. Great food at a higher price. It's a treat. read more

One of the best culinary experiences of my life. I've eaten all over this world in amazing restaurants and chef Juan Jaquez has curated one of the most memorable meals. First off, thank you chef for making one of, if not the best bolognese. I didn't think anything on the menu could top that, until the filet with crab meat and the most wonderful mashed potatoes came to our table... I was floored. The steak was perfection. Jesus and the rest of the staff were on point all evening. As we were seated, we were asked if there were any food allergies to be considered. Honestly, they were just being amazing servers, which we know isn't typical these days. Thank you Ceron, I can't wait to return!! read more

Nice building and clean dining area, beautiful bar, and nice wine display. The prices were too high for what is on the menu drink wise and for some of the food. Beer selection was not impressive. Food was ok, kind of reminded me of an overpriced Applebee's or Chili's. I had the ribeye and it was cooked perfectly, but lacked flavor. The highlight of the dish was the baked potato that was dressed in a wonderful tasting spinach. My wife loved her lobster fettuccine, but the bread that came with the dish was not fresh to our taste. Service was good and everyone on the staff was very friendly. I feel like this restaurant could double its patronage if the prices were slightly more reasonable. All this said, we will still drop by on a different occasion to give the place another try. read more

Went for Mother's Day with my mom, stepdad, partner and kids. It took 25 mins to get drinks after we ordered them. Then food arrived, but not all at once. Hamachi was covered in about 5 different ingredients that were salt, sweet and sour. Way too much. My blintzes were cold so I sent them back. They came back hot, but extremely bland, not very sweet, or tasty. One kid had eggplant Parmesan that was like a huge massively chewy tire. Not good at all. The burger my other kid ate came with very buttery, oily bun. The oysters were fine and my partner liked his eggs Benedict with ham. Ambiance was okay upstairs where they put us, but not as nice as downstairs. It felt like the back lot. Overall definitely not worth the $250. For brunch. Took my girlfriend here for dinner on her birthday. Inside was beautiful and the lighting was intimate. Our server gave us great recommendations and was very knowledgeable of the food being served to us. For starters: Calamari Fritto and American Wagu Beef Tartare. Presentation was beautiful, The wagu had a lot of good flavor and the caviar on the Tartare was delicious. Mains: Berkshire Porkchop and Ribeye. Portions were both equally generous and great presentation. The pork chop was perfectly cooked, which sat on top of the pumpkin gnocchi. The ribeye was perfectly cooked at medium rare, truffle ravioli and creamy spinach...all delicious! read more

We came here on a saturday evening for my large party to celebrate me and my partner's graduation. I loved the ambiance of the restaurant and glad that we did not feel rushed at all during our time here. We ordered 2 calamari dishes and 2 pizza for the appetizers for our guests, and we let our guests choose their entrees and desserts. The 2 calamari and 2 pizzas were the perfect amount for our guests while we all chatted and caught up with one another. I ordered the scallop dish and it was so delicious, highly recommend that dish. My sister ordered the duck breast ravioli and I think after trying everyone's dish that night, I think the duck ravioli was the best one, and the scallops were second best. All the dishes were beautifully plated and I could tell that my guests were pleased with their food as barely anyone had leftovers to take come. We finished up our meals with their choices of dessert and coffee for anyone who wanted coffee. Even the coffee was beautifully plated as they gave sugar cubes and cream on a matching plate set with the mug. All the plates looked so expensive as they were also really heavy. Overall, this place was an excellent choice for our party and celebration of becoming doctors. We were not overly bothered by the hosts and everyone working here was so kind. Even as we exited the restaurant when we were done, all the workers said congrats to us and I loved that. All the other restaurants we were looking to reserve at had warned us that we only had 2 hours to eat with out big party, but this restaurant didn't even make a big deal out of us staying 3.5 hours just relaxing and enjoying one another's company. Came in around 2pm for lunch, 3 other couples in the restaurant eating. At least 10 tables had not been cleared and staff standing around. Ate at the bar, prawns and crab raviolis were okay. Staff was very slow and unconcerned. Decor was fabulous but did not match the service or food quality. Tables were never cleared and when leaving saw the chef just sitting at the bar on his cell phone looking bored. Sad. Staff was nice though. read more

Ever since this place opened, we have wanted to support it but since I'm a vegetarian it is simply stunning to see a restaurant in the Bay Area not list a single vegetarian option. Tried Ceron for the first time tonight and I gotta say, this place is disappointing for what they are trying to be-- which is a high-end San Francisco style fine dining restaurant. Ceron clearly has an identity problem. I don't think it's unreasonable to have high expectations when I'm paying $58 per entree and Ceron simply didn't deliver. I'd been to the restaurant when it was Otaez, so I was eager to see what they did with the place. The space is huge and it always had a cafeteria vibe. While Ceron did a nice job with the decor they would benefit from breaking the space up. It was cavernous. I do have to say that the hostesses were incredibly nice, so the evening started out on a positive note. We sat down, picked out our food, and were ready to order. It was probably a good 10 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. But ok, it's Covid, I'll give a pass in the beginning. Ordered a bottle of wine, the warm tomatoes and burrata, and the flat iron steak. No bread was offered to us. But I was hoping the wine bottle would come out quickly. Which it did not. The apps came out fast but still no wine. And now I'm getting irritated because for $50+ entrees the service should be much better. I was looking forward to leisurely having some wine while we waited for the food. We asked again for the wine as we ate the apps. The tomato dish was just a very bizarre dish. It was basically tomato sauce with a few dollops of burrata. But no bread or anything to soak the sauce up so I was eating tomato sauce with a fork. It would have been good on pasta but was a strangely conceived dish as an appetizer. My husband had the ceviche and said it was uninspired. Meanwhile...we are now 30 minutes into our meal and still no wine. I finally flagged the waitress down and asked a third time. And even still it took another 10 minutes. By the time the bottle came over we actually sent it back and got glasses instead. To their credit, they did comp the wine. Dinner arrived and unfortunately my steak was not cooked enough. I asked for medium and got rare. So I had to send it back. After another 10 minutes (and perhaps a microwave later since the carrots were pretty soggy) the dish came back. It was an ok steak. I might have been happier with it if I were paying less, but there was no way the dish was worth $58. Overall pretty disappointing. I can't imagine this concept having longevity unfortunately. The restaurant is huge, the prices beyond too high for the food quality, and the service is about what I would expect at a local Chilis. I think Ceron would do better to take their prices down and bill the place as a more casual dining restaurant with entrees in the $30 range. Unfortunately, I won't be returning. read more

I had the pleasure of dining at Alameda's newest New American Cuisine gem and IT WAS AMAZING! Doing some research before trying it out, I learned that the chef worked at a well-known restaurant (Michelin Star) in SF, so I had high expectations and I WAS NOT disappointed! To begin, the restaurant looks fully renovated. Copper touches all throughout the restaurant just adds a magical touch to an already beautiful place. Our greeter was super sweet, our server was super nice and attentive and even the chef came out to personally welcome us to Ceron Kitchen (nowadays that's super rare) So that made us feel somewhat VIP! Dinner began with a bone broth which were served in these cute little pottery cups. You can tell the pottery was high quality. We ordered 2 of each course (apps, mains, lasts) The octopus a la plancha & pomegranate with burgundy pears were both cooked to perfection. The pomegranate dish was a fusion of flavors I didn't even know about. Then we ordered the short rib & scallops which were also to die for! Meat was tender & the scallops were cooked perfectly all throughout as well. Then we got the Margarita pizza which my dad said it took him back to France (huge compliment!) super cheesy with the perfect amount of crust. Lastly, we had the chocolate soufflé and the cheesecake...HOLY COW! I wanted it to never end! Also, I heard the pastry chef also worked at a Well-known SF restaurant and you could tell. Oh man, fantastic cocktails and food. I went with a buddy and we were planning to just get drinks and apps but the menu looked too good. The custom cocktails were absolute fire, amazing. Almost all of them come in fun glassware that adds to the appeal, so that's fun af. Corpse reviver #2 is one my fav cocktails, hard to find, and our bartender Lanes made it perfectly. Beef tartare was super light but full of flavor, a great way to start. We had that and the lobster app to start and both were excellent. The truffle chips that come with the tartar made the dish pop with flavor and fun. Duck breast was great; I don't eat a lot of duck and usually find the breast to be like a chewy steak, but this was tender and flavorful with a far different combo of flavors than a good steak. Quite tasty. We also had the pepperoni and mushroom pizza, it didn't feel special in the way that every other dish and drink did, but the pepperoni was really good and when I reheated the second half the next day the crust and the pepp's got nice and crispy and it was delicious. Might ask them to make the pizza crispy if I order one again. Dessert was the Paris Brest , a great dessert to share, and very sweet. A good balance if you're drinking something tart or bitter. I'm sure it goes with plenty of their 100's of wines but that's not my forte. Tldr: drinks are off the hook, best bartender I've had in forever, come in dope glasses and are strong and tasty. Entrées are delicious (pizza maybe above average) and when I get the steak next time to check it out I'll update this review. Dessert was unique and tasty. read more

The Little Restaurant that Wants to be More than it Really Is. We had dinner service here recently after hearing rave reviews from friends and reading many favorable Yelp reviews about this 3 month old Alameda high-end dining establishment. We decided to give this new kid on the block a shot. The restaurant is contemporary, yet classic without being gimmicky or trendy. The overall dark feel of the room, contrasted with the brilliant tin tile ceiling and the elegant copper dinnerware worked extremely well. You would never in a million years guess that this space was recently occupied by a taco and burrito Chevy's style Mexican restaurant. Our server Ann was stellar in her kindness and attentiveness to any need our party had while dining. The wait staff were quick to react, be it a refill on a drink, more water, or even to go boxes and bags. Service, I thought, was top notch and worthy of a fine dining establishment. Kudos to the well trained staff for making our experience pleasant and welcoming. Restaurant design, the color of their silverware, and even the caliber of the wait staff will only get you so far though. The REAL judge of a restaurant's quality is the food. Period. Hard stop. Mic drop. Ceron Kitchen, although good- and even excellent in small doses, definitely is NOT living up to the caliber of fine dining that it presents itself to be. Our table had several different dishes, so I think this review is more than fair. We started with a few starters for the table to share. The Calamari was heavenly - light, crisp, barely there calamari nearly melted on the tongue. Everyone raved about this starter, even if portion-wise it barely left each of us with a nibble. The Cheese Plate was very good, but I'm not sure if this really counts towards the restaurant's quality as the cheese was made by someone else and merely presented by the restaurant. Not sure which one it was, but the hit was the soft creamy white cheese paired with a pool of orange apricot preserves. Again, the small portion of the cheese plate barely left each person with just a taste- think Costco sample sizes. The Burgundy Poached Pear Salad was nice, yet overall unremarkable. The American Wagyu Beef Sliders were very good, with a delightful tender texture and unique beef flavor. Perhaps it would've been wiser for the table to order multiples of the Wagyu sliders alone instead of venturing towards the other starters. On to the Mains. Our table ordered the Salmon, the Pork Chop, and 2 different Pizzas. The King Salmon was easily the hit of the table as far as mains were concerned. Tender, flaky, flavorful, elegantly presented. The tempura squash blossom filled with crab was heavenly. I would go back for this dish. The Berkshire Pork Chop was thick, hearty and juicy. It came with several side items on the plate - cornmeal coated bacon, cipollini onions, pear and creamed spinach. It was good, but not great and mind -blowing like everyone expected it to be. The 2 pizzas, a Margarita and a Pepperoni & Wild Mushroom left much to be desired. A good judge for the quality of a pizza is the margarita. There's no hiding behind various ingredients, just cheese, tomato sauce, basil and a crust. It, like the other Pepperoni and Mushroom pizza, was unremarkable and mediocre in taste. Dare I say they were even bland. The crust was of the wafer thin cracker variety. Some may like that, others may hate that. I leaned towards the 'hate that style of pizza crust' camp myself. Okay, my food reviews don't sound half bad, do they? So what's the deal with the low star rating? Well, our total bill for the night topped $400. Was the food comparable to other restaurants that charge on average $45-$50 for main courses? No. The food was overall unremarkable and average. Yes, there were moments of glory where we were blown away and taken to another level food-wise, but sadly, those were too few and too far between to warrant such exorbitant menu prices. Ceron Kitchen certainly looks the part of being a upscale fine dining establishment, and they're absolutely charging high end dining experience prices on their menu - but they're falling way short of what they aspire to be food-wise. Grossly overpriced for the caliber of food they're putting on your table. Perhaps the P.T. Barnum quote puts it best : "You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time." Don't fall for the 'smoke and mirrors' dining experience presented by Ceron Kitchen. Hard pass - there are many more worthy dining establishments that deliver a more realistic & favorable food-quality to dollar ratio. read more

Me and my bf decided to try this place because I was craving steak. The food did not disappoint but not worth coming back to at this price point. Embiance is really nice but it was cold where we sat and covid-wise I felt like we were too close to the other tables. I was confused if we were supposed to drink the bone broth in between meals. The entrées were very filling. The lemon drop I got was okay but my bf said that it wasn't a real lemon drop. Overall, it was alright but not worth coming back again. read more

We are always looking for a new place to try and this one popped up on my TikTok stream. We decided to go for brunch and it was well worth it. We ordered the Buttermilk Chive Biscuits and Clam Chowder as starters. They were both amazing. The honey butter for the biscuits set them off! The clam chowder topping come in a bowl and the server pours the chowder over it. It seems like a small serving but because of the richness, it is just enough. I ordered the Lobster Benedict and was not disappointed. It was a wonderful recommendation from our server, Jesus. My hubby got the Chocolate Chip and Banana Soufflé Pancake and was not as impressed. It was flavorful but he forgot soufflés are eggy and he doesn't like that texture. I tried it and felt the same. We both agreed that it may be better cooled down so that it is more set. The ambiance was very nice and the service was great. The restaurant has its own parking behind the building. Free parking is always a plus for me! read more

Atmosphere -- this is my biggest gripe. It feels like it's trying to be more formal than it should. Especially for a restaurant with "kitchen" in the name -- should exude like 10% more warmth. Obviously it's their choice, not mine, but hosts wearing jackets and managers in suits feels like a lot. Super minor changes would help. If everyone adopted a version of what waiters wear it would help... and then potentially adjusting the music and lighting design a bit. Service -- Attentive and conversational... a bit slow as they got busier through the night. But fine. Food -- Solid. They brought out a lobster bisque taste when we started, super balanced. We otherwise had a pizza (fine), scallops and short rib. Short rib definitely the highlight. Super tender. Ton of flavor. Appropriate portion. Desserts -- Best part of the meal. We had the soufflé and the cheesecake. The pastry chef definitely takes some artistic license in what to call things, but flavors are on point. Not overly sweet like so many desserts out there. Our kids were floored when our waiter brought them macarons at the end. Nice touch. Will almost certainly come back. Again just wish they would tone down the formality a bit. read more

Just discovered this yesterday in my hometown. Food was excellent, especially the French toast with fresh berries. Chef presents fresh ingredients, beautiful plating, creative combinations. The restaurant needs front of the house management and an expediter though. Staff were inexperienced and untrained and food took a LONG time to get out of the kitchen. It's clearly trying to be a high end and sophisticated restaurant but the basics are missing: salad fork placed on the inside of the dinner fork, dressing and other sauces were not cleared from the table when salad plates were taken away, waiter took dinner fork along with salad fork after appetizers, water not refilled, hostess just stared at us and didn't greet us when we were waiting to be seated. It'll be wonderful to have another very nice restaurant on the island when all these details get ironed out. read more

Had a guys dinner there last night. Beautifully upgraded from the old Otaez Mexican Restaurant. Tuna Tartare - Delicious with the truffle flakes, but small. Steak Tartare - Delicious, but small. Branzino - Large dish of filets with skin on. Great white fish and the crunchy skin was nice addition. Pork Chop - My friend devoured the whole thing. Scallops - Slightly above average. Filet Mignon - Tender but lacked flavor Panna Cotta - Fresh and good, but small. Overall a good meal, but two small complaints: Theme/Direction - Juan, the chef/owner is very capable, but the menu lacks a theme or direction. Dishes are varied and random. He needs to have a theme and a couple signature dishes. Size/Price - Prices rival those of SF, and too pricey for Alameda. And as mentioned earlier, some of the dishes are too small for the price. read more
