Worst company ever!!! Not worth paying for no matter how much cheaper!!! They have a "30 day satisfaction guarantee" that is total bogus. They have lost the record of my cancellation within my 30 day window, then created some arbitrary date when they claim the cancellation was made, then billed me an early termination fee. My husband and I have been with Century Link for 3 years and most of that time has been a nightmare. We originally signed up with them at a time when we're weren't making much money so we were looking for the cheapest deal we could get. We got their one year promotional deal for $40 per month. We were fine with the price and service, which cut out frequently, only because it was the best price around. Then we moved and tried to move the service with us and then the major problems started. Our internet was supposed to be switched to our new address within 48 hours. It took 5 weeks and 10 tech support phone calls to make this happen. Each tech support agent told us something different and even when I begged them to send a technician to my home to physically look at where the issue was coming from, they still would not send someone out and kept recommending new cords, new modems, and a new account entirely all to no avail. My husband got into it with a rep who sent us to the customer retention department. They finally agreed to send a technician who found and fixed the problem within less than 20 minutes. They also cut us a nice deal for all the trouble we went through to the tune of a new 2 year contract.But we had working service so we were good with signing up. Since then, the service has been shoddy at best, cutting in and out several times a day. Calling tech support does nothing except make you want to commit yourself. And we're in a 2 year contract so we have no choice but to tolerate it until we can finally end services and move over to Cox. Don't let CL suck you in with their attractive low sign up prices. They will rake you over the coals for as long as they can as soon as you sign on the dotted line. read more

I previously had centurylink for 7 years at my old house. At my new house everything was fine until a technician came to repair my neighbors land line phone and we have not had service since. I have spent hours on the phone and am waiting on the fourth technician and we still have no service but the people that I talk to on the the phone sure would like to sell me an upgrade on my service and add my tv to a service that apparently they cannot provide. I just keep getting passed around from person to person with no apparent hope for resolution, what a joke and then I find out they are the only option in my neighborhood. The last customer retention person that I talked to actually hung up on me instead of sending me up to a proper manager as I had requested. Buyer beware here because if their services don't work they don't seem to be able to get them fixed. If the fourth tech doesn't get these problems fixed its time to contact the bbb and the Arizona attorney general. read more

One star, as 0 stars is not an option. I have paid my bill each and every month for YEARS. I have had sporadic services for YEARS. I have filed MANY complaints with PUC (waste of time) and even CenturyLink Corporate, can I repeat my answer of WASTE OF TIME. I have no dial tone, called repair to check on services and had a technician dispatched to my home. He came arrived to the property and worked on the SNI- (box on the side of the house) for awhile. He had an attitude and insisted he had to come in--well I refused and he gave me attitude!!!! Well when I received my CenturyLink bill it had an $85.00 additional charge. So I called to inquire and the lady (lack of a better word than female person who was clueless on the other side of the phone) she refused to get a Supervisor and then told me that since i didn't have the wire maintenance plan that i had to pay $85.00 charge. I explained to her that the tech NEVER came inside and only arrived to work on the SNI. She refused and had proven why she earns minimum wage--was clueless. I have had more than 38 repairs in 3 years...well CenturyLink you are showing why I need to switch to Cox. I was the sole person who still had CenturyLink until now. I cannot continue to pay $150.00 a month for regular service only to have these insane add ons that were put on fraudently by your tech who was clueless and rude. ALl technicians until this last one have advised me that the F2 was insanely damaged and needed to run a new line and they could not afford to put in a new line. Therefore they keep patching it and providing me shotty service. How do you think I know the lingo unless I have had this many repairs and minimum wage employees who are rude and uneducated--- it used to be fast food employees were the bottom feeders--well now it is CenturyLink. They lie, cheat and deceive you. I have paid thousands of dollars for service only to place my order now for Cox. Maybe they will appreciate my business. When I first got the line they said it was 50 dollars for internet but after signing up never was I billed a $50! All my bills were between $170-200 which is ridiculous! I called endlessly and went to their location and finally they apologize and gave me the new plan which is the $45 and credited me with a 265 dollars since they overcharge me . I traveled abroad and returned to a permanently disconnected line and a mail saying if not paid in full it will be reported to collections! What happen to my credit?? The rate I was quoted at with my confirmation number on the transaction does not match up with my bill. My bill for last 2 months has been 3x what it is suppose to be. WARNING! BUYER BEWARE! Century link canvassed my neighborhood a couple months ago. The representatives name is Hayden. He told me I could get the phone, Internet, and TV (with 4 boxes) "bundle" for $86 a month before taxes and I could have a free 30 day trial period. In addition I would get a visa gift card and $50 off my first bill. I received my first bill without the $50 reduction in price, after several hours on the phone I was able to get them to decrease my first bill by $50. I just received my second bill which is $423. After another couple of hours on the phone, the representative told me that the price I was quoted did not include fees for DVR, HDTV,and the monthly fees for the boxes that I have. Apparently there's some one time fees of $50 per box and monthly fees of $10 a month for each box you have. And my 30 day free trial, They back billed me for. Buyer beware!! I was never once told about these hidden fees, their representative initially told me $86 would be my total monthly charge before taxes.Now I am stuck with a year-long contract for my Internet and TV and the actual monthly price will be $170 a month. With the one time monthly fee of $423. To top it off the service stinks I have to unplug my TV modem at least five times a day because I lose my signal. This is a classic bait and switch operation with dishonest representation of this company. Stay away from century link at all costs. read more

I recommend using a different company. I have moved 2 times in the last two months and I have made sure to transfer my services. The first time I transferred services to a new address, I did it online and received a confirmation email that it would be turned on beginning of May.. That day came & I still wasn't able to connect to the Internet.. So I called, on hold forever, I let it slide because being a receptionist, I know the day can get busy with calls. When I finally got to speak to someone, they told me that I never put in an order to transfer services, which is complete bull shit considering I have the confirmation email. I didn't make too big of a deal about it and they got everything squared away but had to wait another week to be able to use the services that I am paying for. Here I am with my second move on May 31st. I made sure to just call in to make sure they're actually going to do it right this time. I was on the phone with them for over an hour... just to change my address and services. I was told everything would be taken care of, I was given a new account number and services will be turned on by June 3rd. Still not on. I call again, put on hold for 25 minutes and he got back on the phone to tell me that my order had been cancelled. I usually have patience but I lost it. How the hell do they continue to get away with their mistakes. I was told that customer service is gone for the day so I would have to call back tomorrow. After my contract is done, I will be taking my money elsewhere. This company is worthless. I am one pissed off customer. read more

Centurylink is the ABSOLUTE WORST. To quote one of the other reviewers on here, if I could give fewer stars, I would. I opened this yelp account specifically so I could give them a scathing review in the hopes that any poor soul that's considering doing business with them run for the freaking hills instead. I had an account with them for nearly ten years because it was the only internet option in my area. Every time I had to call their customer service for anything I knew it would be AT LEAST a 40 minute ordeal. Customer service reps in all departments are incompetent and difficult to understand. Internet service was patchy at best regardless of the speed I was supposed to be getting. When I moved to a new neighborhood I threatened leaving after ten years because of the terrible service that I received when trying to transfer my account to my new place. Zero fucks were given by the centurylink rep I spoke to. They owed me a refund on my closing statement which they never sent. I just spent the last hour getting transferred from department to department (and getting "disconnected" twice) only to be told that they cannot reissue another check for another month. Looks like I'll be giving them another hour of my life next month, but I'll be damned if they get another CENT of my hard-earned cash. Centurylink should reconsider being in business. They have seemingly failed so many of their customers in every way possible. My bank account was linked to another person's account and they have been stealing from me for over a year. After months of calling every single week, several departments, and countless "representatives" I was able to get my money back. HOWEVER, they would only send me a partial refund and told me that I would need to leave the remaining amount as credit to my account. They then convinced me to try PRISM TV "FREE" for 30 days. What they didn't tell me was that I was going to be charged for the equipment that was needed to experience this so called "amazing tv service" to which I have returned with the boxes and return label that they sent me. After returning the equipment, they continued to charge me for "Unreturned broadband equipment" and claimed that they never received it (and of course taking that credit that needed to stay on my account). I spent several hours in one day being jerked around from one department to the next with no one having a clue what to do to then getting hung up on! I have yet to have my issue resolved and am still having to call and spend wasteless time on these idiots to get my money back. For your sake, don't even bother wasting your time considering using Centurylink as your provider. You will only be severely disappointed and cheated. read more

Garbage company and lie about cost. Received a special promotion for one year of 29.99 internet...first bill was around 80 dollars cuz they included a 40 dollar service fee they didn't tell me upfront about. I thought I paid the bill over the phone but didn't and my internet seized up on me saying I owed, thought it was no big deal. Turned out I missed paying on my 2nd bill which I never received. The rude lady said they don't send bills in the mail because they are an internet service and you should get payment alerts via email. I sure didn't, so I owed 6 dollars just to make the payment over the phone...and now an additional 25 dollars to reactivate the account. It took 2 hours to get my internet working again. This is turning out to be no deal at all. I have no idea when to pay my bills other then looking at my account on their website I guess, cuz I don't get their notifications. Horrible customer service, very disorganized company. I have been in a billing nightmare with Centurylink for 7 months and the way I've been treated by all of their representatives including managers is atrocious. There was a charge charged to my account that I did not authorize which threw me into a billing nightmare until I finally was able to cancel them. I had to call every month for them to adjust reoccurring charges that I did not authorize and no one at Century Link cared to correct. I was actually told by a manager that the reason why my account was so messed up was because i was the one calling and complaining every month. I had my phone number in my internet ported over to another company and even just calling to give them my new address for a final bill I was treated so rudely. For 7 months they let a billing issue go unresolved when it was their issue. Also you won't be told that when you set up an initial package that all of your credit or special rebate promotions will not ever let you down grade to a lower package if you're trying to save money. A lot of what I was told in the beginning was false information because the charges I received we're completely different. If you have the option to go with a different carrier I would highly suggest doing so. I have never dealt with a company whose customer service was so rude, unhelpful, not accommodating to their customers, and useless. read more

This company sucks! I would give this zero stars if I could! I have had a bundle with Prism TV/Internet/Landline services for two years and had nothing but issues. They overcharge me on my bill not fulfilling their promises on my bills. I have to call every month for hours for multiple days to try and get this sorted out but their "Customer Service" lines are jokes. I have heard so many excuses about why my bills are overcharged. "Oh, that's not what was said" "I can fix this for next month but there is nothing I can do about it now." Matter of fact, my landline service has not ever been working ever since I switched. Apparently their line is "corroded" at the main box on their side and they continue to do nothing about it. Now, they want me to switch to their VOIP services and I did but it is still not working. I have had four technicians out to my house to try and fix this but no one knows what they are doing. Even one technician closed my ticket saying everything is fine and DIDN'T EVEN COME OUT TO MY HOUSE. He did not check the line claiming that he did and I wasted a whole day waiting for this technician because they give you such a large time window, just for no one to come out to my house. Everything is wrong with this service, they tell me all the same things over and over again such as "Reboot your modem" or "Go to this website and we'll walk you through", but nothing works. I continuously call customer service and I am cold transferred (without telling me), incorrectly transferred, on hold for hours, and nothing ever gets fixed. I would not recommend this service to anyone. I am cancelling my service because nothing ever seems to change. And what is really sad is after having 18 years of landline service that I have no choice but to discontinue. I have no idea how this company stays in business and I have no idea how the president of this company lets this continue. If I would have known the hassle I would have to go through every month I would have payed the higher prices with DISH. read more

We signed up for auto pay, as this decreased the monthly fee. When our first bill was due, they kicked us off auto pay because the card wasn't set up. Was this our fault? Nope. They claim this can take 30 days or more. So you recommend setting this up, but know it will take longer than the first bill's due date? And then you punish your brand new customer for something that wasn't their fault? Ridiculous. Upon our cancellation, they gave us the runaround for several months, stating we owed them money for services which were never rendered. I have had their services for 4 months now and each month the billing has been a complete nightmare. Every agent I speak to offers me a different deal and the bill is really high for the same channels I get for free in my bedroom that I made with a homemade antenna with foil. Quite telling why this company is not accredited with the Better Business Bureau. I would save yourself some time and headache and search for another company that is provided in your area. They will speak to you on the phone and sound so confident that they have resolved your problem until you get your bill. Just got my bill yesterday and it is $37 more then quoted and I asked the girl to even incorporate state taxes and everything. I asked her to incorporate my internet as well with the quote. Customer service agents ROUTINELY lie to customers such as " pay your full bill this month and you will receive a discount next month" if your a century link customer now, you know what I am talking about。 in the 2 years I was contractually obligated to do business with them , I never received the same bill 2 times for tv and internet. They have basically stole 28.13 of mine because we closed our account 6 months ago with a balance with them which they still haven't paid back!! Anytime you call them on the phone because they overcharged you for services, plan 1-2 hours going back and forth between century link and century link prism customer services . They never follow their own contracts but hold you responsible for them . Trust me, no tv and no internet is better than their service !!!! Worst service i have ever experienced. I would rather stream from my phone via Wi-F hot spot then rely on the terrible capabilities of centurylink. I have used cox and Verizon for years with zero issues and only since i was forced to switch to centurylink have i realized the value in quality service. Centurylink is by far the worst service i have utilized for internet service, and i cannot wait until my lease is up with my current apartment to remedy myself from their sub-par service. I was told by a sales rep that my service speed would "easily exceed" that of cox communications, but a few months into my service contract i was sorely mislead. I plan to take it up with the sales associate with whom I initially spoke to to rectify or at least document my dissatisfaction in the service I was provided. Why did I rate Centurylink a 1? Because they did not offer a lower rating. I had Centurylink internet and Prism TV and had constant problems with the billing. Every time you call, you can count on spending at least an hour because you have to be transferred at least once. Then I cancelled my service because I moved out of their service area. For the past 4 months, I have received continuing bills. Each month I called to get this corrected. Each time I got someone who doesn't cover AZ or must transfer me for some other reason. Each month I spent 1-2 hours trying to get the bill corrected. Each month, I was told I do not owe anything, it will be corrected and I get a confirmation number. Each month I get another bill and it starts all over again. I am told the previous representatives did not process it correctly. Centurylink has to be the worst at customer support. Do yourself a great big favor. Cancel you internet and TV with Prism, satellite or cable. Get Amazon Fire TV and an HD antenna for local channels and then subscribe to Playstation Vue for real time TV. Better, cheaper and much less frustrating. read more

Never subscribe to Centurylink. I subscribed to Centurylink for a move on the 10-24. The reason was because Cox was not available in our new area. The installation for internet and phone service was supposed to take place on 10-31. The tech showed up on 10-31 and installed internet but not the phone (land line.) I called Centurylink on 11-2 and asked why they did not hook up the phone. They told me I would need to pay an additional $53 for a tech to come hook up the phone line or I could add $5 to my monthly service for a warranty. I okayed the $5 warranty, but they still did not show. I called again a few days later, and they said it would be hooked up by 7pm that day. But they did not. I purchased a tracfone so I could have some sort of phone. There were 4 hours on the tracfone. I called again on the 11-10 and was put on hold to speak to a tech. I guess I was transferred, because I talked to someone who said she did not know about my problem. Even though I had my social security #, my address, my Centurylink account number, she wanted some sort of a 3-digit number I do not have. She repeatedly refused to let me speak to a supervisor, stating that she could not validate me as a customer. I became angry, hung up, and called again. Then I talked with a gentleman who said it would be connected by 7pm that day again. I still have no land line and I am being forced to pay for the land line. I used up all my tracfone minutes trying to clear up this matter (4 hours.) I am at a loss for what I can do next. DO NOT USE CENTURYLINK. read more

Salesperson stopped on Nov. 10th (sold me on the TV, internet, phone bundle package), then told me no Saturdays available; set up time for Thursday Nov. 19th. Told sales I was not available until after 2:45 that day and was told when the tech calls prior to coming to the house to let them know and they will adjust accordingly. The window of service that day was from 1-5 and the tech called at 12:45...told him I wasn't available until 2:45. He said that wouldn't work because he needed at least 3 hours for new install. I explained to him that the sales guy so no Saturdays. The tech guy was actually helpful in obtaining a Saturday install date. The tech guy returned and attempted to initiate the install on Saturday the 14th. Unfortunately, I had two bad lines to the house and they would need to get another person to re-line the house with active lines. Was told by the tech he would get back to me that day to let me know the status of the line improvement. I told him once again that I was available on Saturdays or the Thursday after Thanksgiving (Dec. 3). I did not hear from Century Link again until Mon., Nov. 30 when they left a message saying they would be out on the Thursday after Christmas. I called them back later that day and told them I was available the Thursday after Thanksgiving, not Christmas. So they cancelled the Thursday after Christmas. (waited over fifteen minutes before getting off the hold cycle) I again told them my availability for Saturdays or the coming Thursday. Waited an additional 10 minutes until he came back and told me they had no available time on Saturdays or the upcoming Thursday. I then looked over the calendar and decided that maybe the Thursday after Christmas would work out...waited another 10 minutes before he came back and told me that day was no longer available. As expected, I was very upset by this time and expressed to them that I guess they really didn't want my business and that if they didn't want my business that I'll just cancel the order. I waited another 10 minutes, hoping he would come back and tell me he had something available, but waited instead for him to tell me, "Okay, your order is cancelled." read more
