Wow, wow, wow! If I could pick this place up and move it to VA, I'd be 400lbs. Stopped in here for a breakfast twice last week. The first time I ordered the egg sandwich with broccoli rabe and cheese. AJ suggested sharp provolone and I went with it. Delicious!! The next time I had to order the same thing. I wanted to try something different but couldn't since I'd been dreaming of that sandwich for days. The place is packed on weekends so expect to wait. But it is worth it. AJ will grab a loaf and slice the bread in front of you while you wait- yes- that fresh. Admittedly, I have really gone to P&S for some time and hadn't visited Centrella's. I heard about ownership changes etc. Well, I went back recently and am pleased I did so. I found the store to be nicely updated and less cluttered than past visits. In fact, Centrella's carries specialty items (meats, cheeses, mustards, oils, etc) that are cheaper and more accessible than Carlino's. I ordered a party sized Hot roast beef sandwich platter and it worked perfectly. BTW the potato salad is an absolute highlight. I'll try a hojo next time. read more

I just got a Chicken Cutlet Parmesan sandwich. Drive 5 minutes to my house and when I opened the sandwich the cheap paper they use to wrap the sandwich inside the foil was all disintegrated into the sandwich. It was RUINED and went RIGHT IN THE TRASH!!! I don't know who taught these people how to wrap a sandwich but you NEVER EVER STUFF THE PAPER INSIDE OF THE SANDWICH... EVER... My son and his wife are exhausted from their newborn and sleepless nights. In order to assist with some nutrition, i stopped in and stocked up on a bunch of dinners for them. I really like the meatballs from here. However, the reason for the 3-star review is their customer service is horrible. The one woman who works there called me sir, despite me clearly being female. I asked for a meatball sub, and apparently she had no idea what I was talking about- she was like 'a hoagie with lettuce and stuff?'. I've ordered meatball subs everywhere, without a fuss. And I've been there several times. I was completely ignored, despite having been waiting before another customer came in, but the other (regular) customer was waited on. Let me start by saying Centrella's food is delicious!!! I could not be happier that I chose Centrella's to cater my Fathers 80th birthday party. I ordered the 4 entrée catering package and everything was excellent and plentiful. The meatballs were great, the roast pork w/broccoli rabe and sharp provolone OMG I'm in love, sausage and peppers wonderful, penne w/ chicken & broccoli DELICIOUS! Then we had the chicken tender appetizer everyone loved, pepperoni and cheese tray was packed full. The sides and salad were great as well...I could go on. When I arrived I was greeted by a friendly employee who knew exactly who I was when I gave my name, he then came out with a rolling cart full of all our food which was well packaged. He reviewed my order with me and verified everything was correct. He then came out and packed it all in my vehicle with great care and would not accept a tip. My experience was delicious food and great service. I am happy to give Centrella's a glowing review. I now have a place I MUST visit when retuning to Havertown! read more

I used to live very close to here years ago. I went back recently and happy to see even though it's new owners,it is just as great. Actually, I thought it looked more organized. I loved all the specialty items they carry. I got hoagies and they were well made and delicious. I live 30 minutes away but will definitely be back. I would like to add that I was surprised at a couple reviews saying the workers are unfriendly,totally disagree. Unfair one star review because they wouldn't let you use bathroom. Located on a busy road so it should be more than understandable they can't provide public bathroom. Oh, the entitled!! read more

I wish every experience with any business could be this good! Ordered catering for 30 people and their menu selections couldn't be easier! The woman who took my order on the phone was so accommodating and they didn't even ask for a deposit! The food was ready to go, they gave me instructions on how to heat it with the utensils, chafing dishes, sterno - everything! It couldn't have been easier. This is one of the standby places in havertown and the last of a dying breed. A true Italian deli. John Centrella and his wife own and operate a wonderful Italian market in havertown right on brookline blvd. This place has everything you could want, cookies, chickens, pastas, REAL Stromboli, roast beef, meatballs, hoagies, steaks etc. The food here is amazing and it is again the real deal, the ONE drawback to this whole thing....the price. They are pricey but the argument could be made you get what you pay for? This place has some of the best hoagies in the area, the chickens are great, the meatballs and roast beef are not to be missed. I love this cozy little Italian market/eatery. We stopped by on our way through and it did not disappoint. The meatball subs lived up to the hype. YES! Another place in Havertown to get a delicious hoagie. The Italian was as good as it gets. We also tried a chicken parm hoagie which was awesome. This is huge, bc we are VERY picky about chicken cutlets, because my mother-in-law makes the BEST. The highlight was the John's 9th Street Special. OMG. Imported capicolla, Genoa salami, extra sharp provolone, roasted peppers, imported soppresatta, prosciutto. Can you say heaven? And BTW, I didn't eat 3 hoagies....we cut them up and shared. I would hardly say the staff are accommodating or polite. After a 10hr shift of work I headed straight to Centrella's Deli to get dinner for the family, but being in a hurry to get to the store and finally finding a parking space, I had asked to use their lavatory. This seemed to be a question no one knew how to answer, as one staff asked several others before a staff in the back came out saying "No way, nope." Great pork and hot beef sandwiches. No need to go to Dinic's at Reading Terminal when you've got this gem right in your backyard. I'm not a huge fan of their chicken cutlets (YMMV), but everything else my family has had was excellent. There isn't much room to sit and eat in--just a few small round tables--but they'll wrap things up for you to take out, no problem. Friendly service. If you know/care about good quality hoagies and Italian sandwiches Centrella's makes the best in the entire area and better than 90% of places in the city as well. Aside from great sandwiches they sell great Italian cold cuts and antipasti. Also have a nice selection of reasonably priced prepared Italian-American dishes and grocery items. Granted most of the grocery items you can find at the supermarket but considering that their prices are reasonable I don't mind shopping here for things I could buy at the market. I've been going to Centrella's ever since AJ took over. There's really not much else you could ask for in a Philly deli. Huge hoagies and sandwiches, a great selection of the finest meats and cheeses this side of 9th street and meatballs that will make you actually question whether or not AJ is secretly an 73 year-old italian grandma. I went by on Haverford day a couple of months ago and they had a line around the block. They're clearly a local hit. I have a general rule, when the locals go you should go too. Finally, I must revisit the meatballs (although the roast pork, roast beef and cheesesteaks are also great). I'm not kidding they're the best I've ever had. No wonder they won Tony Bruno's "Boss of the Sauce" a couple of years ago (just for the record, Centrella's has outlasted Tony Bruno...). I love going here because they never fail to amaze me and they also take the safety of there customers very seriously. All of there food is amazing and so is the service. My favorite who brightens my day is Jackie she always has a smile on her face behind her mask. She never messes up my order and always makes my day. I also enjoy seeing Steph she is always very kind and i can tell she has a heart of gold.
