Chicken Shawarma inside - seasoned chicken, garlic sauce, pickles & cucumbers. Was a big portion, not authentic but not bad.

Delco Deli occupies a space in a small strip mall abandoned by Wawa several years ago. I stopped in here for a few lunches to see what the new place was all about and was pleasantly surprised. The new operators put some money into the inside brightening it up and tiling the entire deli area. The shelves are stocked with your typical C-store items, same with the cooler. Their food service ordering system is by Toast, although they will take an order themselves if you want. The staff was very friendly and helpful on all of my visits. They use Dietz & Watson deli meats and Liscio's rolls. Their menu is pretty simple and has the usual suspects - Cheesesteaks, hoagies, chicken sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches, etc. One menu surprise was Chicken Shawarma. I haven't had it in years so that was my first try. They don't have a vertical "spit" yet, (think Rotisserie, but vertical) but they do season and cook the Chicken in house sans the skin. It comes in a wrap with a garlic sauce and you can add/subtract toppings. I enjoyed mine, it was similar to a gyro, but wrapped like a burrito. Their cheesesteak was above average. Ribeye cut up with American cheese on a Liscio's roll. I liked that they had different pepper options (Jalapeno, Hot Cherry or banana). Cheese to steak ratio was almost right, the amount of meat was just right and it wasn't a sloppy greasy mess. Their online price says $15.90 which is steep, but I don't remember paying that. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich was about what you would get at a Wawa, but better. Not hand breaded, but simple. It comes on a 8" roll. Prices are a little high here, but I think the quality is much better than the former tenant. Everything is made to order and you don't have to wait with 15 other people for them to call out your number! Give these guys a chance for some better quality choices than the bigger chains.

Different cheesesteak #1090 in the last five years. I've been thinking a lot about this cheesesteak. Nice new clean place. I almost bought a black and white cookie for $2.99. I am a narrow minded old white man but I am getting used to kiosk ordering. Apparently a new grill person. He was being coached by a co-worker and had me watching over the counter. Everything was good. But I think everything needed to work together better. The meat was a touch dry. They grilled the fried onions & mushrooms in one pile and the meat in its own pile. Why not together? $11.99 for the cheesesteak. I think they will get it together.

Delco Deli in Prospect Park is now open. Great sandwiches. We ordered a chicken parm and hot pastrami. Everything was sliced and made fresh to order. No cheap Wawa crapola. The young guys who now own it are great and you can tell by their service, are very proud of their new business. The place looks great too after the renovation. They serve Dietz and Watson meats which I prefer as well. Give them a try and support a local business, and not some goofy chain that serves assembly line convenience store sandwiches.

Delco Deli beats Wawa any day. Hand-cut meats and cheeses every time, a clean functional setup, and the customer service is excellent. Has quickly become my go-to lunch spot, or emergency ice cream stops. Smiled today seeing they included Delco Deli branded candies to my hoagie as a nice post meal treat. Just another example of going above and beyond for customers.

I am excited to finally try Delco deli. It looks like it just recently opened. It's clean. And has all the things you can expect a convenience store to sell. It is sort of like a wawa concept but it's only one location. I ordered the cheesesteak with cheddar cheese and when i say the bun was very soft! And the meat was filling as well. I will come back to give it another try on the different hot food and also cold cuts as well.

I wanted to find the best cheesesteak possible without detouring too much from my route and without going into Center City. I mapped it out, scoured reviews, and set my heart (and my GPS) to Leo's Steak Shop. It was easy enough to navigate to from the airport and there was plenty of street parking nearby. You could definitely call and order ahead, but I didn't have a long wait since the lunch rush was likely over. They were still busy and I probably waited 15 minutes for my sandwich. I went with a large cheesesteak which was insanely large. This could easily be split between two grown men. Lucky for me, I had leftovers the next day. I also snagged a bag of chips from the giant selection and a soda for the road. There are no tables inside and it was winter so I took it to go. Even though I hadn't eaten all day, I held off until I got to my hotel about 30 minutes away where I proceeded to devour half of this overstuffed cheesy monstrosity of a sandwich in the front seat of my car (had to wait to check in). I was in shaved steak heaven for the rest of the day. Then after a night of drinking with my buddies, I woke up to the second half in the fridge and proceeded to devour round two of this steak bomb which at that point was the only thing I had eaten for the last 24 hours. Next time I fly into PHL, I know exactly where I'm going.

We had several winemaking tasks to do that morning, including some barrel cleaning, bottling, and some other chores, which are not necessarily some of the more fun activities associated with the hobby, and here he comes with a wonderful breakfast sandwich. Despite living nearby and having passed this location so many times I remember their old sign by heart; "Anna's Sandwich Shop - No gas, better hoagies" due to their proximity to a giant Wawa with gas station that opened across the street, I had not been there to ever experience what so many people have told me is an essential spot to try in the area. This was my day to try, and I have to say that I was wowed. He brought me a steak, egg, and cheese on a long roll but also made sure to get wonderfully pan fried onions enmeshed throughout the whole sandwich as well as having it perfectly peppered. What left the biggest impression on me was how perfectly the flavors melded together and how easily I was able to inhale such a huge sandwich at the early morning hour without feeling too full. The only downside was that it left me wanting more, and I felt like I could have easily finished off a second one, and I don't know why. While I love food and trying new things, I can't generally eat extremely large portions. I like to try a bunch of many different little parts so that I can have a bit of everything, but here, I could have eaten enough in sandwiches to feed four people. Dangerous! I have not had the opportunity to meet any of the staff or even to see the inside of the place, but I have to assume that is is a typical Delco sandwich shop, which for me is a place I'd like to go. With up front, no frills friendly staff that is most likely local and has been for a long time. I do believe that it has changed hands recently but is still being run the same way it has traditionally be so don't expect any changes here. Just good stuff, and for me, so far that means delicious, overly consumable breakfast sandwiches. Stop by on your way down MacDade one morning and try one for yourself!

Well, someone ought to get this started. Might as well be me…read more For some reason, this place intrigues me. I'll tell you why. Of course, those of you native to Glenolden may remember this used to be the site of 7-11. You probably also know that it ran into tough competition once Wawa opened up, and the 7-11 eventually closed (don't know about you, but I will always remember Abe who owned that 7-11 fondly). It's been a few different places since then. Now, it's back to being a convenience store. Not only is it a convenience store, it has a deli counter in the back with a grill, meaning you can grab a hoagie or a cheesesteak there among other items. So let me see if I have this straight. In an area where Wawa has deep roots, and in an area where you have so much cheesesteak and hoagie competition literally just a block or two away (and not to mention that you have had two defunct pizza and hoagie shops in this site which already closed down since 7-11 left).... well, this is going to be very interesting to see if it will succeed. I'll say right off the bat that I have no idea how good their hoagies or cheesesteaks are. I have my own favorites in that regard, as I'm sure many of you do. I'm probably not going to go there for such things. I'll let you try them out and tell me how good they are. But I'll tell you what they do have that I do like that might be a well kept secret until now. They make a pretty darn good breakfast sandwich. In fact, I just had one this past Friday. Bacon, egg, and cheese on a bagel to be exact. Now, yet again, there's competition a block away for that kind of food. But I'll tell you what. The sandwich I had, the bagel was big and quite tasty (an Amoroso bagel I believe). The ingredients were fresh and well put together. And it was priced reasonably well for what I got. Now, keep in mind that you have to get one freshly made to get a good one. I did once get one that had been sitting out pre-made and heated on the counter that lost its freshness. Make them make you one off the grill. That's the way to go. I'll let you all decide how well they're doing on the rest of what they have to offer. Me, I just like having another breakfast option in my rotation. Oh, by the way... because they have Quick Stop in their name, every time I pull up to the place I have visions of Jay and Silent Bob in my head, and I keep looking for a sign that says "I assure you we are open". Noitch if you know what I mean!

I feel bad that this place doesn't get more notice. The problem is the name: McDade Food Mart just…read morescreams "quick shop" and is categorized as such on Yelp. However, they are more than just a fake 7-11. They have a full menu of hot and cold sandwhiches, sides, breakfast, etc. Steve, who runs the grill, makes top-notch cheesesteaks and breakfast sandwiches. Seriously, the guy just has a way around a grill. They have a lg cheese steak (12 inch roll), fries and lg fountain soda special for about $8. Sure as hell can't beat that. So I would recommend it. I'm pretty certain you won't find a better sausage, egg and cheese in this part of Delco.
