Finally got to try Roma Deli, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! Ordered the Roma Famous Hoagie over the phone, and it was ready in just 10 minutes--super convenient. The hoagie itself was perfect: great balance of meats, fresh bread, and just the right proportions. You can tell they use quality ingredients. When I walked in, the staff was friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Been meaning to try this place for a while, and now I can't wait to explore more of the menu. Then another woman jumped ahead just to place an order. People who are simply trying to check out should be able to go first, and the cashier should have a better sense of where the line starts. The food was really good and it was very inexpensive. We picked up a bunch of hoagies, soup, tenders and fries. My son loved his tenders that when we were in the area a few days later we picked up so more. You can call ahead or wait. There are a few parking spaces on the side which is plenty as it's not a sit down restaurant. It's a deli/store with tons of items to choose from for dinner. I will definitely be back. read more

A cross between an old fashioned deli and a out of date deli/convenience store. They have your typical chips and snack cakes as well as coolers filled with drinks along the back wall and on the left side coolers with your typical deli sides and presliced lunch meats. There were shelves along the front counter with large containers of hot peppers, olive oils and other Italian specialties and bread bins along the bottom half of the counter one side Liscio's and one side Amoroso. Menu boards hover over the counter. Their meat's were made by multiple companies, but I noticed mostly Dietz & Watson products. The woman who took my order was very friendly and helpful for a first timer. She recommended the Roma Italian, which would be a lighter Italian hoagie, but it lacked peppered ham so I chose the 12 in Original Italian. The sandwich was completed in a couple of minutes which was impressive. The cost for the hoagie and a bottle of water was a little over $6 which is a steal. Before I left I asked which bread they used. Today they said Amoroso, so they seem to rotate who's bread they use for a sandwich. Although stuffed with meat the Delco Way (Meat on top lettuce, tomato, onion on the bottom) I found the sandwich to lack flavor. It was very unbalanced and leaned heavy on the salami, bologna side. The peppered ham just didn't help the flavor profile of the sandwich and the provolone was muted completely by the salami. It wasn't a bad sandwich, just not what I expect in an Italian Hoagie. The roll was crispy and decent, although i would have preferred the Liscio's. I'd repeat to try a different sandwich offering, but I wouldn't go out of my way. read more

I can't believe I have not been to Roma Deli before. Special Wednesday addition of Amigo Dan. We went to Roma Deli because I heard they had a $6 Hoagie and the world's best Rice pudding. They had a special, $6.99 12" Cajun Turkey Hoagie w/Cheese so I got that. It was big, well made and tasted great. The rice pudding was amazing and I may have to do a separate review just for the rice pudding. Amigo Dan & I had been talking about Corropolese rolls and Federal St pretzels. Roma had free samples of Corropolese tomato pie and a cheesesteak pretzel made with a federal pretzel. Amigo Dan loved the tomato Pie. The cheesesteak pretzel sat in the car longer than expected due to 2SP being closed for regular maintenance (I thought you did regular maintenance when you were closed). It didn't look great but it was very tasty. Wilmington Brew Works was open and we found several beers that complemented our Roma feast very well. read more

There are things I like about this place. Getting a foot long hoagie for under 5 bucks will always be a good deal, as most of the competition have raised their prices above that. The amount of meat they put on there is excellent. No skimping whatsoever. The selection they have of other food products is pretty decent. It's always good when you can support a local business over the big companies. But... the hoagie was good, not great. The roll was decent, not spectacular. There are better hoagies up the street if you don't mind paying more. I call 'em like I see 'em. However, I will always appreciate a decent $5 hoagie as much as a great $7 one. read more

Two weeks ago we ordered two hoagie trays (Second time we have done this for a party) from Roma Deli. Myself and my cousin went in to pick the trays up and the woman behind the counter was very helpful in explaining every single different hoagie on the tray!! (I had no clue what my mom ordered so she went through everything very thoroughly) Roma has never failed in their lunch meat department! It is always fresh and fits our budget. We have been going here for a few years and will continue to do so. Also the owner is a sweetheart and so kind. My cousin was pregnant so he carried everything out to our car for us. A little over three years ago a city kid walked into this deli because the Wawa was closed. Imagine my shock when I found better prices and better sandwhichez. For you non Philly folks if you've never been to a Wawa, it's a local legend, give it a try! Anywho, as good as our local legend is, Roma totally surpasses it in every way. Good old fashioned deli. Sandwiches are enormous for minimal price. Good food, good people.

They are friendly and fast. The food is really good and well prepared. Classic Deli style set up. So one visit one of my items was missing but we'd ordered a lot so easy mistake, they gave me a voucher and masks good on it. And one time food was dropped on the way to the counter. What do you know, human error, it was wrapped up so I accepted it but it would have been better customer service to give me a fresh remake. I took it home but I couldn't get the idea that it had been on the floor out my mind so I didn't or rather couldn't make myself eat it. Parking is a challenge off a busy road. If you want a great hoagie for not a lot of money, this is the place to go. Most of their large hoagies are only $5 and are a great value. You get so much meat and cheese on the sandwich that you could probably take some off and make another sandwich with it if you wanted. Plus, the hoagies are so big you can only eat half. You might possible get 3 meals out of it if you want! They don't deliver but you can call them and place your order then go pick it up. This is a damn good hoagie spot. Not the best ever, but Delaware County isn't exactly a bastion of great sandwich spots. The prices are very reasonable and they have a wide variety of mom and pop deli items from fried hot peppers (a must on my hoagie) to pepper shooters to home baked cookies. Been going to Roma deli since they opened, its a very busy store with a lot of people walking around. The place has been sold to new owners and you do expect a few changes. This was a no frills cheap store but no more, a jar of mayo is $5.99, chips are 2 for $6.00. I would go there before I would go to Acme to save a few bucks but Acme beats them on grocery items. enough about the prices and let get down safety of the store with the COVID-19 going around, I went into the store the other day to get a hoagie when I saw about 5 young adults in the store and none were wearing masks and the brother behind the counter taking orders was alright with it. I saw so of the other people looking at others customer to say that these kids aren't wearing masks. The brother behind the counter seems to make up his own prices for each sandwich or just forgetting that the item is on the special board. Big fan of their hoagies and lunch meat selection, the hot foods are still a little iffy and the price of the appetizers like the cheese fries I got for the price were not good. Excellent hoagie place with great prices. They have really good meat and cheese specials. The Roma Special hoagie is a huge spicy italian with tons of meat and good cheese. And its only 3 bucks. I was visiting from out of town, and needed a delicious hoagie. I'd never been here before, but the in-laws suggested it. We ordered two foot-long Italian hoagies for 4 people. The hoagies were FOUR BUCKS each! You really can't beat that value. The hoagies were average for the Philadelphia area, but of course spectacular for the rest of the country, who struggle with the art of making sandwiches. Amazing prices for quality meats! Great feel of an old school mom and pop deli. Kind of place that your kids will remember 20 years from now. My senior club orders hoagies two or three times a year for our members. I think Roma makes a good Italian hoagie. Today, I was very disappointed with the 27 Italian hoagies that were made for our club, the turkey and tuna hoagies were fine. Whomever made those Italian hoagies put the lettuce and wet tomatoes on the bottom of the sandwich instead of meat and cheese first, then the lettuce and tomatoes, and more meat. All 27 hoagies were so wet that it came through the paper they were wrapped in, and the rolls were soggy. Also, they delivered no onions on the side. You have to have onions on a hoagie. I will make sure I mention this the next time I order from them. read more
