This is one of my favorite places to stay in ALL THE LAND! I adore the historical facts and old school antique feel to the whole hotel. It's awesome! The prices for the rooms are very low for the Monterey Area... actually the prices are low for any area, really. The breakfast is amazing with their array of pastries and their fruit parfaits . They have a wine time at night with a complimentary glass (white or red) that's delicious. But the BEST part is the staff. Olivia at the front desk is absolutely amazing. She showed me around when I decided to stay a little longer and found that I loved their little cottage outside. She was also very sweet and comforting when she found out i was here spreading my Moms ashes. Renee is also nice as can be and adorable. He's very knowledgeable about the area! So I love staying here! In fact, I was offered a free night at a hotel/spa close to here, but I still opted to stay here and pay instead. That was a no-brainer! I just feel overall super relaxed and happy everytime I stay here Love you guys! Thank you for an enjoyable stay every time I come into town! XOXO

It's a cute cozy little place and location wise it's perfect! Everything is super walkable. However, the black mold that's in the shower is absolutely disgusting and a hazard... This was definitely worth it for a one time trip. I don't think I'd ever come back

We have been coming to this bed and breakfast for 32 years and it has gone down into the dumps. In the mornings they run out of coffee, the breakfasts are a joke, they have nearly nothing available to eat (it's not even a continental breakfast. Cold bagels and tiny store bought pastries) even though they claim to have a breakfast in the morning,m. They can't even provide their guests with almond or oat milk. Paint chipping, mildew you can scrape off with your fingernail, ripped carpeting, yuck! We have never been so disappointed with this place before, but are sorry we ever set foot in it again.

My Wife and I decided to have our 12th Wedding Anniversary weekend in Pacific Grove. I selected something a little different and decided on the Centrella Inn because of its Victorian style and its history. We had an EXCELLENT stay there. We got a text that our room was ready early while we were on our way there. Got lucky and found parking in the parking lot in front parking lot. Checked in with no issues whatsoever. And we were happily surprised with our room on the second floor. We got the side street view, and the room adjacent was under construction so there was no one in it obviously. They were working on it when we were there a few hours both Friday and Saturday but it wasn't loud by any means. We were two blocks from the beach and did a lot of walking and sight seeing. Also visited the Historical Museum of Pacific Grove a block away which was really cool. And all of the restaurants were seriously one block away. The complimentary breakfast was good as well. As was the coffee and orange juice. And there were historical artifacts in the dining area such as the "Fragile Chair." I read the other reviews about paper thin walls and noise. That didn't affect our stay at all. We had a WONDERFUL stay and will come back in the near future.

Short anniversary getaway with the hubs and we stayed at Centrella Inn for 3 nights. The location of the inn was great! Walking distance to Cannery Row and a couple blocks away from downtown PG and the beach. Also close to the Pacific Grove Golf Links. Quaint little inn. Staff were very friendly. We found our room to be comfortable - appreciated the little sitting area. Bed was comfortable - we slept well. Floor was creaky but we didn't mind that much. Enjoyed their fresh scones every morning- crisp and buttery. Their yogurt parfaits were also a great start to our day. We really enjoyed our stay at Centrella Inn and would definitely return when visiting Monterey again.

We were looking for something new for our Monterey/Carmel trip. We were so happy to come across this quaint inn. We booked 2 twins rooms. Stayed at the first floor room #3 and 4. The girls were fine with it. The elders need a little bit more quiet arrangement. Room 1-5 located in the hall away that connect the front door and the reception. So you can hear people walking around. Plus being on the first floor, you can hear the patrons on the upper floor. We would request for the upper floor next time. They have a stand alone cottage. That would be a better choice also. However, they only have queen beds.

Daily breakfast of scones and parfait served!

Great place to stay close to Monterey! We walked from the inn to Monterey bay aquarium and that strip of shops 2.5-3 miles round trip walk. Lots of coffee shops and local restaurants to eat at all within walking distance. Pacific Grove has a very small town feel and super cute! Staff was great- they have fresh baked scones and cookies served every day and complimentary breakfast (yogurt parfait) and coffee every morning. The beds were comfortable and I slept like a baby both nights! I highly recommend staying here if you are on a budget and could use some amenities.... As far as toiletries- shampoo, conditioner and bath soap provided. Didn't have any toothpaste or toothbrush that I saw in the bathroom. Local Safeway nearby and grocery stores if you need it. If you are a gym rat like me, there is an Anytime Fitness nearby you can get a day pass for. Otherwise the running trails are great.

    "Charming" interior

What's being sold as old town charm is actually just a really run down house. An old ("historic") just means they get to invest next to nothing in upkeep and pretend that it was designed that way. It smells like mold, walls are thin, the sink backs up, there was a literal bugger on the wall in the room; this place is gross. To top it all off they asked for $21 additional fee for booking through a third party. Check out what they sell you as charm for $320 a night:

Booked Victoria Premier directly to bed and breakfast. Requested a corner room based on the reviews which I recommend. Room was slightly bigger. Room has a mini fridge, no dresser to place your clothes, nice modern bathroom and comfortable bed. We stayed in room #14 faces street. Quiet room however just be warned your next door neighbor when they leave in the morning might scare you. (Sounds like they are trying to come into your room but it is just them leaving) Light breakfast served a scone, yogurt parfait, orange juice and coffee or tea. (Hopefully full breakfast returns). Evening freshly baked chocolate chip cookies or peanut butter cookies and wine. (Hopefully regular appetizers return) Received friendly, good customer service. Close to everything. Farmer's market on Sundays is 2 blocks away. Plenty of restaurants close by. Only bad thing is parking their is only 5 slots on the premises. Plenty of street parking however for some reason this town was busy this wkend so street parking was difficult which is thee last thing I want to search after a long day. Recommend staying here.

    Cottage #3

Such a cute bed and breakfast in Pacific Grove! There's not much for me to add that most reviews haven't captured. We visited Pacific Grove the first weekend in May and stayed in Cottage 3, which is incredibly quaint. There were 3 adults in our group and one of us slept on the futon in the "living room" of the cottage. Unfortunately, it was not comfortable, so that's important to know before you go. The other bed in Cottage 3 seems to be full size. It was fine for me and my petite cousin but I don't think it would accommodate me and my husband comfortably. Also, as many reviewers pointed out, this property only has about 6 off-street parking spots, but finding street parking was not an issue. And there's street parking outside the street-facing door of the cottage so it was closer for us to park there. Even though this property serves a free breakfast of a yogurt parfait and pastries, we found that we were still hungry and needed to supplement our breakfast. All things considered, I would definitely recommend this property for a short stay when visiting Pacific Grove!

Great value for the money and location. Clean and comfortable beds. Over 100 years old, it is a Victorian so there is some wear and tear.

So with Valentines in mind...check in at 4 but they sent a text saying our room was ready at 11 or so and asked what time might we expect you? My timing was four and that's about when we arrived. It's a bit complicated but the signage was clear and there were a couple of parking spaces right by the check in office. Wow what a place Old Victorian and absolutely beautiful inside. Check in was easy and fun, we could keep our car where it was parked. There were small socializing events, a champagne pour at 5, cookies at 7...Our room was just off the parking area with no stairs to climb. We were also close to the breakfast spot. (starts at 8-10) Our room was well a large bedroom, tall queen size bed, a very large bathroom, with a Great shower (water pressure) and rainfall shower head. Three large windows gave us a good view of the bay, the window shades were thick enough to block out most of the light. The mattress was super comfortable, we slept well. We took an Uber to the old pier and had dinner, it was very quiet in town, perfect. Free breakfast always has me wondering but today this was a very nice breakfast, egg soufflé, hash browns, lots of real fresh fruit, croissants, various breads, oatmeal, various topping and cereal. Hit flavorful coffee, juices, yogurts...good stuff. The stay was pricy for the off season but sometimes ya gotta spend a few bucks too enjoy the finer things in life. Today we're headed up highway One to Capitola and over to San Jose to Santana Row for dinner with the kids, stay tuned. Foodguy-Martin

They've done a great job of keeping the character of the house but also modernizing it. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Leese was at the front desk for most our stay and she was very kind and helpful. Housekeeping and the cooking staff do a great job as well. We had breakfast every morning and it was hot, fresh and provided variety each day. We stayed in Room 21, La Porte. It included a private side entrance outside the main house which was great. I think our room location was a little noisier than other rooms due to the entrance area outside the room being used by staff and some other guests. This wasn't a bad thing for us but something to note for those looking for quiet. We'll definitely come back to Pacific Grove and the Gosby will definitely be a consideration for lodging.

The room had a nice jacuzzi bathtub which we both enjoyed. The bed was big and comfortable. There was a cool antique wardrobe in the room which we used to store our clothes. The only downside was that it got a little cool in our room at times (it would be fine in the summer probably but this was in mid February). I put 2 extra blankets on top and we turned on both heaters, the one in the bathroom and the one in our room. Once the heaters had been on for a while it got quite warm and cozy. I would recommend they purchase a nice big down comforter for the room because then we would not need to use as much heat. There was an imitation down comforter but those are not as warm. The service was excellent and everyone was very friendly and nice and helpful. The inn was very clean. The food was excellent. I ate way too many calories for the breakfast but it was so delicious. I didn't gain weight on this trip though, maybe because of all the walking I did, Pacific Grove is an adorable little town and the Lovers Point walking trail is delightful. Make sure to admire the cute houses in the town. So many fun little details. There is a combo bookstore/coffee shop next door to the Gosby House and it was so nice to head over there one morning and get a cappuccino and chat with the other people in the cafe. We also went to the aquarium which is close by and to the Sardine Factory restaurant, which is very nice. One of the perks of staying at the Gosby House is their fresh baked cookies and wine hour. We don't drink alcohol but the fresh baked cookies were delicious, we definitely enjoyed! My favorite was the chocolate/chocolate. Yum. I would definitely return to the Gosby House or back to another 4 sisters inn. I got a really good impression. We also went to the Pacific Thai restaurant which is about 1 block away from the Gosby House. That was great too and I had a good artichoke soup. Parking was quite easy for the Gosby House. They don't have their own lot but it was easy to find parking very close. Check in time was 4pm I think but we got there a little early and our room was ready. The other guests were peaceful and nice and clearly having a good time. The inn was mostly quiet and peaceful. It was quiet at night. I would highly recommend this Inn. Overall it was a very good experience.

I specifically chose Sunset Inn over the Bide-a-Wee Inn next door because Sunset Inn advertised that their "cottages" (which are not cottages at all - they are just motel rooms) each come with a patio or balcony. I spent $100 more specifically to have this feature, only to arrive and find out that their version of a "patio" is just 2 chairs on the stoop/sidewalk next to the front door, facing the driveway/parking lot or the unit directly across from you. Zero view, zero privacy, zero tranquility, in a tiny area of about 10 square feet. That it NOT a patio, and I feel scammed. The room itself was clean, but not comfortable. The bed has a cheap, springy mattress; cheap, uncomfortable pillows; and no air conditioning or way to control the temperature in the room (there is a thermostat on the wall, but completely disabled. There is a fake fireplace, but no discernable way to cool down the room, which was quite muggy and stuffy.) The walls are thin and you can hear noise from the parking lot comin through the windows, and the coffee creamer is so old that it had caked together into a wafer instead of power. The breakfast area in the morning was cramped and disappointing. There is no suitable spread to put on the stale bread or muffins on offer (no cream cheese... not even butter! Just nasty margarine, which tells you how cheap Sunset Inn is, and how much they cut corners. At the Bide-a-Wee next door, they had butter, cream cheese, and even had hardboiled eggs for protein - and it costs half the price of this place!) And then there's the poor customer service. This expensive 2-star motel won't let you cancel (even with more than 24 hours notice) after booking a cancellable room. My wife fell ill and could no longer come down with me, so now I am stuck with a 3 hour drive and a $290 bill (extremely high for a one night stay!) all just to stay by myself at this motel since I don't want the money to go to waste. We called about 30 hours before our reservation (early morning on February 14 for a stay the night of the 15th), and they would not allow us to cancel. Instead, he offered credit for a stay, but only on a weeknight during off-season (November, December, or January)... my wife and I can't take time off to do a weeknight stay, and it's preposterous that this is the only credit that would be offered when I spent nearly $300 PER NIGHT at this sub-par establishment. Pacific Grove is a place we have frequented many times over the years, and we were hoping to find a new establishment to make our "home" whenever we visit, but it definitely won't be Sunset Inn. It's one of the 2 worst lodging experiences I've ever encountered in 20 years of coming to the area.
