Oh. My. Goodness. I have found my new favorite getaway place. I don't even know where to start this review is going to be a novel. Upon arrival, the very kind man at the front desk had told me our room had been upgraded complimentary as we were celebrating a birthday that weekend. We ended up staying upstairs of the lobby in the most beautiful suite I've ever seen that even had an ocean view. The room was impeccably clean, had two TVs, a living room & a king size bed in the other room. There were two fireplaces that worked with a little timer with options ranging from 30mins to 120mins. They also gave us a free bottle of wine for the birthday we were celebrating!!! Each evening from 5-6 they offer complimentary wine tasting & cheese & crackers. The wine was delicious and it was such a fun moment in the day to take a break and just enjoy our time. The gentleman helping us out Friday & Saturday night was so kind and funny. The mornings offered a wide variety of complimentary breakfast, from sausage & egg frittatas to blueberry muffins. Everything was hot & fresh and the staff was very attentive. In my opinion, there were no downsides of staying here. The staff was so kind & thorough with everything. The parking was $17 a night but I think that's a good deal... many hotel parking situations are $20 or more. I will definitely be a repeat traveler here. read more

The cutest little hotel right off the main drag of Cannery Row. I stayed here for one night while driving down to Santa Barbara and couldn't recommend it more. The room was clean and I have no complaints except that the water pressure was pretty low (understandable). The provided breakfast was exactly what you would expect and did the job! Great parking and a good place to stage an aquarium visit or overnight pit stop. read more

Would have been 5 stars except for a few issues: The water pressure in the shower was terrible and opted to not wash my hair because it would have been difficult. The walls are thin so you hear your neighbors children stomping around and crashing into walls. There is no AC which wasn't a huge issue but the only way to cool down the room is either a fan or opening the door outside. Which depending on your neighbors can either introduce a loud noise or smoke smell. Speaking of which if your neighbors are smoking in there room the smell will make its way into yours. The good: the continental breakfast was a nice touch and the staff was kind and friendly. The bed was comfortable and the TV had a convenient streaming service. It is in a nice area and easy to walk to anything you would want. I would consider staying here again if there was a child free zone or floor as I didn't enjoy hearing kids crying and screaming. read more

Booked this via Capital One points. Ez pz and got a good deal. Cute little place, friendly service! Pretty close to the Aquarium and Cannery row within walking distance if that's your goal for the trip~ My stay included breakfast- - sausage, egg, toast, bagel, yogurt, some fruit, cereal, oatmeal, coffee/tea offerings- sausage was sooo good. Egg was meh lol Waffle maker too was gooood! Did not see toppings besides raisins, maple syrup and whipped cream~ Parking for a paid fee underneath the hotel. 3 spots for EVs but only 2 plugs. Connection fee is $0.50, $0.60 kHw , idle fee is $0.03 per minute and a 30 min idle grace period. It didn't like Apple Pay so I had to use their website to pay. I believe it's level 2 charger~ Room we got- 2 queen bed facing the courtyard where people are walking outside lol I will say the double sink was very convenient- one inside where the shower and toilet were and one on the outside by the closet. Has a working fireplace but ours stopped lighting after the first initial test - I could smell the gas but no fire, I was only slightly worried about it but it ended up stopping properly. I love how they are dog friendly- there was a welcome sign for 3 dogs along with treats and doggie bags in the front. I didn't hear any dogs, they were so behaved. We had a pleasant stay this recent trip to Monterey. Enjoyed continental breakfast (egg omelet, sausage, fruits, waffles, yogurt, cereal) and their wine tastings with fruit and variety of cheese and crackers. Coffee and other Beverages like tea and hot chocolate are available during lobby hours. They have a microwave in the dining room that can be very useful for guests. Loved the high ceilings in our room with a fireplace. We felt at home and our stay was relaxing and cozy! Our stay at Victoria Inn was good and met our needs. Their free breakfast (7am-10am) was pretty good. I prefer my eggs scrambled. But, their ready made omelette and egg quiche was pretty good along with their tasty sausages satisfied my breakfast needs. Their waffles were good as well. Their wine hour (5pm-6pm) is a cool touch. When we were there they had chardonnay and merlot with assorted crackers and cheese and cut apples. The downside about this place is that parking is not free. However, I am very thankful that they had EV chargers in their parking lot which was very very convenient. They had 2 EV chargers. It took out the need of finding an EV charging station and having to wait in the car to charge. The room was spacious compared to your typical hotel rooms and the fireplace was a nice touch especially during the winter. The shower pressure was good and the water easily went down the shower drain. I like how the room had 2 separate sinks and I didn't have to share the sink with anyone. Overall, we were comfortable and content staying at this place and wouldn't mind staying here again. read more

This hotel is conveniently located at a walkable distance to the aquarium and nearby restaurants. It offers cheese and wine in the afternoon and free breakfast in the morning. Both are pretty decent for the hotel price. The room has fireplaces, which is unique. The downside for the hotel is the rooms are pretty old. It also has a smell to it. The fridge in our room is also fairly noisy. read more

We've stayed all over Carmel & Monterey for Car Week; this year we chose Victorian Inn, a boutique hotel within walking distance of Cannery Row. Wonderful first impression; upon entrance, the names of dogs staying at the hotel are listed on a chalkboard, & the gentleman checking us in welcomed us warmly. The house that contains the lobby & breakfast buffet (served til 10am) is a charming Victorian. Our room, located in a separate building, was more modern. Bed was comfy enough & the pillows were actually still fluffy. The room's main feature, the gas-burning fireplace, didn't seem to be working. Also, while there was a thermostat, it didn't blow out cold air; a non-issue since our room was temperate enough to not need it. We enjoyed our spacious & clean room with patio seating & updated bathroom. Would absolutely stay here again. Parking in their underground garage is $17/day. read more

I booked a room at Victorian Inn on Booking.com. I used a pet filter and a room selection came up so I made a reservation for five days. I sent a message after confirming the reservation asking what time check-in was and that I had a pet (this was also indicated when I booked the room initially) I received a message back saying that I could not stay in the room I had booked because it was not pet friendly. This should never have happened because there was a pet filter used that said this establishment was pet friendly. If certain rooms we're not pet friendly then the room should not have popped up for confirmation. What if I had shown up there with my pet and was turned away without any reservations? That would've been a disaster. This is really unacceptable and extremely disappointing. read more

I am having terrible experience in this hotel. The concierge is seemed to be having issues with skills related to customer service. She cannot process properly a credit card and had to wake me up at the middle of the night to get my payment while I am sleeping. Very poor service. I would not recommend this place to anyone. The fact that it is very expensive, the service is so substandard. I told her to process it in the morning she argued with me as if it is my fault that she can't do her job properly. This the most substandard service I ever had in my entire hotel stay in California. The moment I gave her the number of the card she cannot even copy properly the correct number and had to correct her again, too sloppy to even do her simple job. read more

This is my second time staying at the Victorian Inn, and it was just as pleasant as the first time. The inn is just steps away from the water and within walking distance to many restaurants. The building is a bit old, which is why it is more affordable than other locations. The staff are super friendly and helpful. My fur babies and I definitely enjoyed our stay. read more

This hotel is a little over 2 blocks from cannery row. It's a quaint old Victorian home made into a beautiful hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was amazing with a nice fireplace. We had a small balcony and you could the ocean in a distance. They have a free breakfast that was sufficient to start the morning. And each evening they have wine and cheese. Definitely deserves another visit. read more

Well situated close to Cannery Row. The hotel was tidy, efficient and a nice break from the standars big chain hotels. Our room was comfortable, clean, well decorated and contained a quaint gas fireplace on an electric timer for a little heat and ambiance. In the early evening there is a complimentary hour of wine and cheese which is nice. The complimentary breakfast was standard fare, including hot dishes, and was sufficient to see us through until dinner. We will return. read more

Room 126 has been neglected, it is run down. I would expect more for the price you pay to stay here. Sunday rate was reasonable, but we don't understand why the Monday rate doubled. Breakfast options were disappointing. The egg and sausage were not very warm. Fruit was minimal, only bananas. This establishment claims to be dog friendly. The only part of this place that is dog friendly is the front desk. There are no areas except raised planters for the dogs to go potty. We travel a lot with our mini poodle and stay at hotels and inns. This is the first place where she was constantly smelling everything in the room, from that I am assuming that they don't sanitize the rooms like other dog friendly accommodations. read more

I like this place for a few reasons. The price is pretty reasonable. Way less expensive than staying in a place, hotel or inn in Carmel. Two, it's cozy. Every room has a fireplace which is perfect for the cold temperatures in Monterey. Very essential to have all year round because when the ocean breeze kicks in the town, it is beyond cold. Nice perks for the inn; every night, they have a cheese and wine social in their cozy lobby that features, a large platter or cheese, strawberries, crackers and apples. Wine and tea is also served and every morning, they serve breakfast to their guests between 7 am and 10 am in the morning. Rooms are basic but nice with a fireplace as previously mentioned, a large comfy bed, over stuffed chairs and a bathroom. Overall, a nice place to stay. Recommend. read more

We stayed 3 nights, couples trip, deluxe King courtyard view room. Our room was comfortable and clean. The bed was so comfy. The fireplace was nice and tasty in the cool nights after long days exploring Monterey. Everyone we encountered at the hotel were friendly and professional. There is a courtyard area with some tables and chairs. Ice machine near courtyard area. It is located just above cannery row making everything we wanted to do in that area easily walkable and felt safe. There are plenty of restaurants that are walkable. There is a 7-11 that is a 3 minute walk. 10 min walk to Aquarium and 15 minutes to Fishermans Wharf. 17 mile Drive is about a 10 minute drive from the hotel. Breakfast was good with standard options like eggs or quiche, sausage, Belgian waffles, muffins, bread/toast, cereal selections, fresh fruit, dairy and non dairy yogurts, milk, coffee, tea, juice. We would definitely stay here again when visiting Cannery Row area :) read more

I was so excited to stay here with my boyfriend for my birthday weekend, and we flew in all the way from Arizona just to see a "CLOSED" sign on the front door. We check our messages from them and had only received ONE voicemail around NOON the same day. Apparently they had been closed for outtages four days earlier and only gave us a notification the DAY of. We had even made the reservations a month early in advance. That late notice was incredibly unprofessional, we were super disappointed. Thankfully we were able to find another place last minute but our whole trip was almost ruined with nowhere to stay. read more

My husband and I returned to the Victorian Inn this past weekend on our return trip to Monterey. This stay was just as incredible as our first stay back in 2024! The rooms are spacious and comfortable. Their wine and cheese hour is so much fun. We love sitting in the parlor enjoying our wine and cheese and crackers. Victor was so friendly and made us feel like we were at a cute little wine shop. Their breakfast included some hot items (sausage, eggs, make your own waffle) and cereals, toast, juices, and coffee. We love staying here for the whole experience, as well as the location. We look forward to staying at the Victorian Inn again soon! read more

Good location but the water flows very slow . Takes much longer to complete the bath / shower. The breakfast has too little choices. My son and I usually come to monterey from bay area twice a year but not sure if we will stay here. For $240 / night for this amenities...water flows is the biggest problem here For the amount we paid next time we rather stay at best western or holiday inn. read more

Hotel was much larger than expected. Lovely efficient staff at check in. She even called the restaurant she suggested for dinner to see if we needed a reservation. It was a bit of a maze to get to our room but nothing we couldn't manage. The low rating was because the room smelled musty. It was clean but the bed pillows were stinky. They needed to be cleaned or replaced. I found a replacement in the closet. The arm chairs were worn and musty, too. Housekeeping did a great job. Bathrooms are updated and very nice. We found the location was great for walking access to Cannery Row and the Aquarium. There is a basement garage that they charge for but we were okay with that as it seemed safer, certainly easier not to have to pay for parking downtown. read more

We made a reservation a couple of weeks in advance by calling the hotel. It was easy to get the reservation but there was one mix-up. The man who took the reservation said there would be no charge for our birds, but the lady who checked us in charged us $30. Upon arrival we checked in a few hours early and the texted us that the room was ready about 2:30. We were very happy with our room. Everything was so clean and just like we expected. We had room 128 last Saturday. The guests in 129 were very loud and did not sleep. So loud without respect for others. The hotel provided breakfast is a joke, at least it was for us at 9:20 Sunday AM. There were 40 to 50 people crammed into a small room about 15 feet by 30 feet. There was no where to be that you were not in someone's way. When we got to the line there were no plates. I gave up and went back to the room. The wife stayed waiting for a plate, by the time she went thru the line there was no food for the plate. She did return with two tangerines, a banana, and two yogurts. Yea a joke for sure. Check out was easy and they provided a paper receipt. They also allowed us to leave our vehicle for a few hours while we went off to find some breakfast. We would probably come back but I promise you, our expectations will not be very high. read more

This place is walking distance from the Aquarium and one of the lowest prices in the area that isn't too far away. The street is quiet with only few cars passing by. The room itself is clean and spacious. I have no complaints other than the room wifi was very slow that if you try to mirror cast and stream your favorite movie/tv show, it wouldn't play completely. And if you use your own LTE, it wouldn't work because you need to be connected to the room wifi for the mirror cast to work. The fridge was also empty so we had to buy bottled water 3 blocks from here. There weren't any utensils so if you decide to bring in a togo order, make sure you bring utensils from the restaurant. There is a keurig coffee maker, coffee mugs and sugars but that's it. Staffs were friendly except for one during our checkout. Anyway I recommend this place if you want to visit Monterey aquarium. read more

Yes, the location is excellent - and so is the free continental breakfast! But the customer service is top tier. My family and I arrived and parked in the parking garage located beneath the hotel. We were able to check in early so we grabbed our things from our trunk and headed to our room to drop them off. The next stop was the aquarium where I received a phone call from the hotel but couldn't answer due to limited cell reception. I immediately received a follow-up text from Christina B. that someone had reported our trunk (which still had valuable possessions inside) was open. Christina not only went down to check the car, she closed the trunk for us and reviewed the security cameras to ensure no one had approached the vehicle and that no other issues with the vehicle had taken place. She was thorough and so helpful and took care of our belongings when we weren't around (and were definitely most likely the reason the trunk hadn't closed to begin with). Where do I begin? If I could give this place 10 stars, I absolutely would! The entire hotel is cozy and welcoming, like a boutique bed and breakfast. The lobby is charming, and since we visited during Christmas time, it was beautifully decorated with wreaths, garlands, a tree, and more! The rooms are wonderful and even come with a fireplace, adding an extra cozy touch. In the morning, they offer a complimentary breakfast with a variety of delicious and inclusive options. My family is gluten-free, and I am vegan, but we were all able to find something to enjoy, which was a huge plus. What really stood out to me, though, was the incredible service. When we checked in, we were warmly greeted by Christina, who was genuinely a ray of sunshine. She always had a smile and warm and happy attitude. She left such a great first impression of this lovely hotel! Christina was helpful, patient, and knowledgeable, making us feel truly welcome. She is fantastic at her job and this hotel is so lucky to have someone so amazing at their work! We also had the pleasure of being assisted by Ariana during checkout and throughout our stay. She was incredibly kind and happy to answer any questions we had. Ariana made the checkout process seamless and provided a wonderful final note to our trip. She a well elevated our experience so much by her presence, kindness, and knowledge. I was truly impressed by how she and the rest of the staff balanced their incredible professionalism while also making you feel right at home! I'd also like to give a shoutout to the staff who kept the lobby tidy and clean during breakfast hours and throughout our stay. They were constantly on top of everything--restocking food and coffee, clearing plates, and ensuring there was always a place for guests to sit while also being kind and lovely with every interaction. I wish I had more space to write about this amazing place and the wonderful people who work here. Needless to say, I will absolutely be coming back. Stayed here for a weekend getaway with the family and really enjoyed our experience. We had a queen bed with a pullout for the little one and a quaint little fireplace that was pretty cool. The hotel is conveniently located less than a 5 minute walk to cannery row, and the facilities are nice and clean albeit a little outdated. The staff were a little standoffish when I was checking in; there was a male staff not helping anyone when I was waiting for someone else to finish checking in, then when I started checking in he invited the next guest to the counter. Not sure why he seemed hesitant to check me in, but I noticed. We thought the wine and cheese in the evenings was a nice touch, although the wines left something to be desired. We would definitely return for the comfort and location and would encourage those looking for a convenient hotel to consider staying here. read more

Came here for my first wedding anniversary. They did not disappoint us. Victorian style everywhere! They checked us in promptly then we went for a stroll around Cannery Row. We came back to a complimentary bottle of wine and chocolate! The room is so cute and quaint with two fireplaces and two TVs in the bedroom and in the living room area.
