    Mold over the shower
    Sam M.

This place was gross. We left early after our second night because we couldn't stand to be here any more. The room was dirty when we arrived. There was food on the floor and a dirty butter knife. The water smelled like sewer. The carpet was disgusting. There was what looked like to be mold on the ceiling of the shower. Don't stay here

Booked this via Capital One points. Ez pz and got a good deal. Cute little place, friendly service! Pretty close to the Aquarium and Cannery row within walking distance if that's your goal for the trip~ My stay included breakfast- - sausage, egg, toast, bagel, yogurt, some fruit, cereal, oatmeal, coffee/tea offerings- sausage was sooo good. Egg was meh lol Waffle maker too was gooood! Did not see toppings besides raisins, maple syrup and whipped cream~ Parking for a paid fee underneath the hotel. 3 spots for EVs but only 2 plugs. Connection fee is $0.50, $0.60 kHw , idle fee is $0.03 per minute and a 30 min idle grace period. It didn't like Apple Pay so I had to use their website to pay. I believe it's level 2 charger~ Room we got- 2 queen bed facing the courtyard where people are walking outside lol I will say the double sink was very convenient- one inside where the shower and toilet were and one on the outside by the closet. Has a working fireplace but ours stopped lighting after the first initial test - I could smell the gas but no fire, I was only slightly worried about it but it ended up stopping properly. I love how they are dog friendly- there was a welcome sign for 3 dogs along with treats and doggie bags in the front. I didn't hear any dogs, they were so behaved. I definitely will come back with my dog here, it's so cute!

We had a pleasant stay this recent trip to Monterey. Enjoyed continental breakfast (egg omelet, sausage, fruits, waffles, yogurt, cereal) and their wine tastings with fruit and variety of cheese and crackers. Coffee and other Beverages like tea and hot chocolate are available during lobby hours. They have a microwave in the dining room that can be very useful for guests. Loved the high ceilings in our room with a fireplace. We felt at home and our stay was relaxing and cozy! Conveniently located by Cannery Row and the Aquarium...also plenty of restaurants nearby within walking distance.

Our stay at Victoria Inn was good and met our needs. Their free breakfast (7am-10am) was pretty good. I prefer my eggs scrambled. But, their ready made omelette and egg quiche was pretty good along with their tasty sausages satisfied my breakfast needs. Their waffles were good as well. Their wine hour (5pm-6pm) is a cool touch. When we were there they had chardonnay and merlot with assorted crackers and cheese and cut apples. The downside about this place is that parking is not free. However, I am very thankful that they had EV chargers in their parking lot which was very very convenient. They had 2 EV chargers. It took out the need of finding an EV charging station and having to wait in the car to charge. The room was spacious compared to your typical hotel rooms and the fireplace was a nice touch especially during the winter. The shower pressure was good and the water easily went down the shower drain. I like how the room had 2 separate sinks and I didn't have to share the sink with anyone. Overall, we were comfortable and content staying at this place and wouldn't mind staying here again.

Had a great stay Loved the fireplace Breakfast was good and organic I don't really like seeing pets in the food area but other than that it's a clean place

We've stayed all over Carmel & Monterey for Car Week; this year we chose Victorian Inn, a boutique hotel within walking distance of Cannery Row. Wonderful first impression; upon entrance, the names of dogs staying at the hotel are listed on a chalkboard, & the gentleman checking us in welcomed us warmly. The house that contains the lobby & breakfast buffet (served til 10am) is a charming Victorian. Our room, located in a separate building, was more modern. Bed was comfy enough & the pillows were actually still fluffy. The room's main feature, the gas-burning fireplace, didn't seem to be working. Also, while there was a thermostat, it didn't blow out cold air; a non-issue since our room was temperate enough to not need it. We enjoyed our spacious & clean room with patio seating & updated bathroom. Would absolutely stay here again. Parking in their underground garage is $17/day.

This is my second time staying at the Victorian Inn, and it was just as pleasant as the first time. The inn is just steps away from the water and within walking distance to many restaurants. The building is a bit old, which is why it is more affordable than other locations. The staff are super friendly and helpful. My fur babies and I definitely enjoyed our stay.

I love this place! It's the perfect mix of old fashion elegance mixed with modern updates! Our room was beautiful, the fireplace was the true selling point but everything other aspect was just as great! Front desk service was fantastic and I wish we could stay longer! Definitely recommending to others & will be back!

This hotel is a little over 2 blocks from cannery row. It's a quaint old Victorian home made into a beautiful hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful. Our room was amazing with a nice fireplace. We had a small balcony and you could the ocean in a distance. They have a free breakfast that was sufficient to start the morning. And each evening they have wine and cheese. Definitely deserves another visit.

Room 126 has been neglected, it is run down. I would expect more for the price you pay to stay here. Sunday rate was reasonable, but we don't understand why the Monday rate doubled. Breakfast options were disappointing. The egg and sausage were not very warm. Fruit was minimal, only bananas. This establishment claims to be dog friendly. The only part of this place that is dog friendly is the front desk. There are no areas except raised planters for the dogs to go potty. We travel a lot with our mini poodle and stay at hotels and inns. This is the first place where she was constantly smelling everything in the room, from that I am assuming that they don't sanitize the rooms like other dog friendly accommodations.

I like this place for a few reasons. The price is pretty reasonable. Way less expensive than staying in a place, hotel or inn in Carmel. Two, it's cozy. Every room has a fireplace which is perfect for the cold temperatures in Monterey. Very essential to have all year round because when the ocean breeze kicks in the town, it is beyond cold. Nice perks for the inn; every night, they have a cheese and wine social in their cozy lobby that features, a large platter or cheese, strawberries, crackers and apples. Wine and tea is also served and every morning, they serve breakfast to their guests between 7 am and 10 am in the morning. Rooms are basic but nice with a fireplace as previously mentioned, a large comfy bed, over stuffed chairs and a bathroom. Overall, a nice place to stay. Recommend.

Nice cute little place and everything is walking distance, also very nice staff from the front desk to the housekeepers, house men and ect, the staff was wonderful and the whole place felt welcoming!. My favorite part were the waffles ! Will definitely be recommending this hotel to friends.

I was torn about whether to stay in Carmel by the Sea or Monterey so when I did a google search for hotels and saw this one had great reviews I picked it. I was on day 9 of my trip, was exhausted and flying back to New York the next day so I really just wanted a quality, safe, clean, nice hotel to end my trip and that didn't happen. The hotel is massive, it gave me real old school, resort vibes. Enormous lobby with televisions, dark wood chairs, giant bar and restaurant but it was horribly outdated. I mean, green carpet, I felt like I was back in the 90's. I checked in they could not find my reservation. I had booked on hotel tonight and they asked me what kind of room I booked. I told them one with a view and a manager came out and told me they didn't have any ocean view rooms. It was 10:30 at night, at this point I didn't care I just wanted to go to sleep. Eventually, after waiting at the front desk for a half hour they were able to locate my reservation. In the meantime I had left my luggage with the bell hop. They told me they would bring my suitcase up for me. I asked the guy to take it out of my trunk because I had just had surgery and couldn't do any lifting. Remember that for later. They gave me directions to my room and I couldn't believe the path I had to take to get there. Elevator up to the fourth floor, then I had to walk down an extremely long hallway, down another hall to ANOTHER elevator. Then I was to take that elevator DOWN a floor to get to my room. It felt like a joke. It was so unbelievably inconvenient. Throughout my journey to my room I noticed all of the windows in the hallway were cracked open. I realized quickly this was to air out the moldy musky smell of the hotel that desperately needed renovating. The carpet was filthy. My hotel room was so bleh. So outdated, the bed was so high I had to jump out of it my feet didn't touch the ground and I'm 5'8. The furniture was old, the carpet, I wouldn't take my socks off. I set up the luggage rack right in the front of the room so that when the bellhop brought my luggage up he could rest it on there for me since I made it clear I couldn't lift. I saw two bugs when I pulled down the comforter and at that point I was done. I went down to the front desk and told them about the bugs and that I wanted a new room. They couldn't help me. Completely ignored my request so I called the booking agency to tell them what was going on. I went back up to my room and saw my luggage in my room, horizontal on the floor despite the luggage rack being open and set up, right, next to it. Cool. I had to call someone up just to lift my luggage onto the rack because again, couldn't lift, post-surgical, made that clear. Whatever. Long story short by this time it was 11:30 pm I just wanted to sleep so I did that and left first thing in the morning. This hotel has absolutely no business charging the rates that they do. None. I would not stay here again.

Hotel staff were very friendly and professional. This time we had the oceanfront room with the sofa bed. Beautiful views, of course, from the balcony. The room was clean, however there is an ant problem in the bathroom. It was not too bad, but we still weren't thrilled to see an ant here and there crawling on our things in the bathroom. It is strange that they use cloth shower curtains, so every time you take a shower they get soaked. Some toiletries are provided, but not as many as they used to. They used to give lotion, shower caps, shower gel, etc. Now it's just bar of soap, shampoo and conditioner. The bathroom is nice, though, with double sinks. Sofa bed worked out great for our 8 year old. She said it was comfortable, and we were also comfortable in the king size bed, which had a firm mattress. It can get noisy in the room with the balcony door open due to the seals and seagulls, but closing the door blocks most of the sound. We kept it open in the day and shut it when we went to bed. Breakfast - well, I guess you can't really complain too much when it's complimentary with the room, but it's really nothing to write home about. Hard boiled eggs, fruit plate, yogurt, and some muffins. Me, being a diabetic, I couldn't really eat any of it, except the eggs. Our daughter enjoyed it, though she is pretty easygoing. We had been hoping to save some money by eating breakfast at the hotel but we ended up eating breakfast out every day we were there. Be prepared to do A LOT of walking because this hotel is at the very end of Cannery Row -- although it's great exercise, and gave us a chance to work off all the calories from our meals. lol. The room was nice, we'd probably stay there again. One thing we were disappointed about was the hotel used to offer a discount if you bought aquarium tickets through them. They no longer do that. They also used to offer free bottled water in the room, which they also no longer do.

When we decided to extend our stay by an extra night, our harbor-view room wasn't available for the additional night, but they went out of their way to make it work so we didn't have to switch rooms. We really appreciated that! Parking was also very reasonably priced at $25, especially compared to other hotels in the area. The room itself was spacious, the bed was very comfortable (firm, just how we like it), and the harbor view was absolutely perfect. We were a little concerned after reading reviews about the sea lions being noisy, but we actually loved hearing them from the balcony! Once the balcony door was closed, we couldn't hear them at all, and they never disturbed our sleep. One of our favorite perks was the complimentary binoculars available to guests--they were a fun touch for watching the harbor. And don't miss the sunrise from the fourth-floor rooftop terrace--it's absolutely beautiful! There were just a few minor things that could be improved. The hotel only has one elevator, and it can be quite slow during busy times. We also wish the freshly baked cookies were available throughout the day. They were put out around 3:00 p.m., but they disappeared almost immediately because they were so popular. When we arrived, our room temperature was around 78°F. We called the front desk to ask about the A/C and were told someone would come up. Security arrived and explained that the hotel doesn't have air conditioning, so the options are to use the fan or open the balcony door. It would have been helpful if the front desk had shared that information when we called. We left the screened balcony door open while we were out the next day, and the room cooled down nicely. The only other thing we wished the room had was a microwave. Overall, these were very minor issues compared to everything we loved about our stay. The location, views, comfortable rooms, and outstanding customer service made for a wonderful experience.

Location is great as it's super close to Cannery Row, lots of restaurants, and Monterey Bay Aquarium which was our ultimate destination. 4.) Parking Garage is free and decently sized and can fit a mid-size SUV with no issues. It will get tighter if you have a humongous full-SUV though (see pictures). [[ Con's ]] 1.) So Many STAIRS. Like legitimately, there are so many stairs. I took a ton of pictures to give you an idea. Stairs coming down from the elevator, stairs between floors, etc. This is not very young kid friendly when you have a stroller, a bunch of kid items, etc. I'm not sure I would stay here again due to the amount of stairs and inconvenience. 2.) Noise Level - If your kid is sensitive to noise, be prepared to have a ton of sound machines because you really could hear a ton of things. Cars, honking, other people's rooms, etc. 3.) Shower - It did seem a bit rusty in certain places and our shower wouldn't drain so there was a big puddle the whole time we were showering. The steam also set off the fire alarm like another person mentioned. Quick conclusion - I think it's an okay IHG hotel but not very good for families with young kids. Good for the location though.

We had such a wonderful stay at Hotel Del Monte in Monterrey! From the moment we arrived, the staff…read moremade us feel welcomed and taken care of. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a warm charm that made it easy to relax after a day of exploring the city. One of the highlights of our stay was how the hotel carried such a unique atmosphere and history. It wasn't just a place to sleep--it felt like part of the adventure. Between the ocean views, cozy spaces, and local touches, it really captured the spirit of Monterrey. And then there were the ghost stories. Whether you're a believer or just love a good tale, they add an extra layer of fun and mystery to the stay. If you're someone that believes (or not), go to the front desk and ask for the "book". It had 78 pages of first hand accounts of unexplained happenings from guests. We had a very small moment ourselves, while I was sharing what I uncovered about the ghosts with my significant other in the morning, suddenly the bathroom light just turned on. Nobody was around and they do run on sensors. Not a significant event but certainly was well timed. Overall, Hotel Del Monte struck the perfect balance between comfort, history, and a touch of playful spookiness. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Monterrey that has access to a military installation--especially if you're looking for more than just a hotel, but a memorable experience.

We stayed for a weekend wedding and got one of their queen suites. Pulling up to the building, we…read morewere both pleasantly surprised by how beautiful it was. The interior is also gorgeous, and it's amazing how well they've kept up the history of this place. We stayed in a queen suite, which was very outdated. Because of how old the buildings are, there is no A/C, which is typically fine, but we happened to be there on one of the warmest days of the year. Our room had an odd smell to it, and the amenities are pretty minimal. However, we expected this due to the age of the building. Our only negative was that we were given the first room next to the entrance and stairwell, which was not fun to hear folks stomping up and down the stairs and slamming the doors. On Friday morning, several people we knew were awoken by the "active shooter drill" announcement at 8:00am. I understand this will happen on a naval academy base, but I wish we were warned about upon check-in just so we were aware and not startled in the morning.
