We stayed here again last weekend for 2 nights, to celebrate our Anniversary. We were given the corner cannery row/balcony room that we stayed in in December (we were happy about that) I left the French doors open at night and we could hear the ocean. They gifted us a bottle of Merlot and chocolates which was lovely. We did use our car more this time but everything is right there on cannery row including the aquarium. It's so nice to walk to dinner, shopping etc. and be able to go right back to your hotel. This place has become our favorite place to stay. Thank you again for a memorable weekend.

Breakfast! Perfect way to get our day started. Not too heavy, not too light.

I wasn't quite sure about Spindrift at first because the decor reminded me of a place that hasn't been updated since the 1940's. They have optional valet, and it wasn't too expensive. I'd recommend it. We got there right at the end of their happy hour..or wine hour..Whatever they call it, I can't remember. It was nothing fancy, but it was a nice welcoming gesture. There was cheese, wine, crackers and fruit. Check- in was easy and the staff members were friendly, and offered suggestions of things we could do. My husband and i were here for our 16th wedding anniversary and they suggested some very nice things for us to do. You have to pre order breakfast, and it's delivered to your room. It's a light breakfast, but filling. Every time we encountered the front desk staff throughout our stay, they greeted us. And asked about our day. I loved how this place was at the end of Cannery Row. We weren't bombarded by the noise of tourists. It was nice and quiet. But because its still on Cannery Row, we were close to all of the wonderful shops and restaurants. When we got to our room, i was still overtaken by the out of date decor! I felt like i entered a time capsule haha. But almost immediately, i noticed the beautiful view. And upon making our reservation, I requested Sparkling cider and a flower arrangement. The hotel recommended a local florist, and everything was displayed so beautifully in our room. I was quickly able to get past the decor. The view was spectacular! We got an ocean view room and we were right above the beach. I immediately opened the window because i LOVE the sound of waves crashing. I was in heaven!! Later in our stay we saw dolphins swimming about as we were admiring our view! It was so magical. The room itself was very clean and the bed was so cozy and comfortable. I cant wait to come back here. And about the decor..It grew on me. I hope they never change it. It's what makes this place unique.

I called to book a room for the weekend and fyi you get a small discount if billing directly. The only room they had available was a king bed with patio but next time I'd like to book earlier and request an ocean view room since our room faced cannery row and it could be a little loud at night. The lights from the downtown area were easily blocked with their blackout curtains and the doors kept out most of the noise. This hotel has a great location of being right in the middle of cannery row and being walking distance to the aquarium, restaurants, shops and the coast trail. They have valet only parking $37 but next time I'd prefer to find my own parking since there's plenty of parking spots nearby. My highlights from this stay were the wine reception which had lots of crackers, cheese, olives and fruit offered. They were pouring a merlot and reisling when we were there. Our room looked a little dated but was clean and had a nice patio to hangout. My main complaint is the rusty flower planters since we have a crawling baby but just be careful if you're traveling with kids. The flower boxes had rusty edges that looked like a trip to the hospital for a tetanus shot. The bathroom was a good size with a tub and shower combo. They have the regular amenities of soap, shampoo and qtip pack and plenty of towels. Housekeeping was wonderful. They have room service till 10p with a big menu and the restaurant downstairs looked quite popular and very convenient if you're traveling with family. They also had a pillow menu which I didn't take advantage of. Breakfast is ordered night before by putting a filled out menu on your door and is a continental style with small pastries, cold cereal, coffee tea or juice, fruit plate, yogurt and hard boiled eggs. Basic but nice to have it delivered to the room every morning. Overall we had a nice stay here and I'd come here again.

A boutique hotel located in the middle of Cannery Row, overlooking the bay with a small beach. Our room was an ocean view queen room with a fireplace. You get a continental breakfast delivered to your room every morning and if you want it, the attached restaurant does room service. You have a coffee pot (Kuerig) and refrigerator in the room, with real glasses, wine and drinking, as well as a wine opener. There is a window seat (windows open to enjoy the breeze and sound of the waves), and supplied binoculars so we were able to enjoy watching otters and seals play. Sadly no whales sight this time. Staff is all super friendly and helpful

We recently stayed here for one night for a quick birthday getaway I took my two kids and my hubby. We stayed in a double bed Ocean view and it was just beautiful. My daughter said the room looked like we were in Cinderella. It was really cute because the beach is right there, if you open the window, you're able to hear the waves. Monterey has a very nice quiet, relaxing vibe. I was able to wake up at sunrise, and me and my daughter watched it from the window. they bring you complementary continental breakfast, which was nice to sip coffee and watch the sunrise. The room was pretty spacious for the four of us. My daughter ended up sleeping on the nook by the window because that's where she preferred. The room got a little warm during the night with the fireplace, but you're able to crack a window and feel the nice breeze. This place is really cute and it's right in the center of Cannery Row. We ended up walking to the aquarium the next day and we were able to leave our car in the valet service . the workers there are very nice especially the valet and bus guys. They do offer complementary wine and cheese during the evening which is a nice touch. I was in between this hotel and a couple other ones but I think this one was a great choice because it's pretty affordable and right in the center of everything. Very cute for an anniversary birthday or even if you just want to have a cute quiet getaway with the kids beds were pretty comfortable although the pillows were soft. I'd come back.

Cute small boutique hotel located in the center of cannery row. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. The hotel was clean with a bit of charm and there was daily housekeeping. We stayed in room 208, nice corner room overlooking cannery row. Valet parking is available, as well as there are parking lots down the street for self parking. The hotel is surrounded by a plethora of restaurants and shopping and only a 5 minute walk to the aquarium. The hotel puts out a small charcuterie spread between 430-6 pm with complimentary wine. Breakfast (continental style) was included with our stay and is delivered to your room. Would recommend this hotel for your stay in Monterrey.

Sunrise view out of our window at Spindrift Inn.

We will definitely book here again. We enjoyed the king room with the ocean view, the great service, and the breakfast delivery and wine and cheese reception in the afternoon. It was a fun get-away for our anniversary and exceeded our expectations.

Really felt the warmth of the hotel right when you walked in. Staff was so welcoming and pleasant. Our arrival was seamless, parked and got into our hotel room within 10 minutes maybe even five minutes. Hotel room was a dream. The views and the vibes were incredible. I felt like I was dropped right into a Nancy Meyers movie. This is located walking distance to everything and anything. It was the perfect cozy vacation for me and my family. First family vacation (not to be confused with family trip) in awhile where it ended with me feeling relaxed and I think this hotel had a lot to do with it. Highly, highly recommend.

Boyfriend surprise me on my birthday weekend getaway at the Spindrift. We stay at a lot of 4-5 star hotels and this place is by far the best. They go above and beyond to make your stay perfect. Can't wait to go back! Thank you Spindrift!

Had a great quick visit again to the Spindrift. This time we had a Cannery Row balcony room. Was great to sit and people watch but the Ocean Front rooms are definitely a better view. Staff is always great and the valet/bell guys are great! Continental breakfast leaves a bit to be desired but lots of great breakfast places nearby so really not a big issue.

Unlike some properties, the spindrift inn is just as, if not more, magical in person as it is online. The location is incredible and they also have a complimentary wine/cheese bar every afternoon. Within the top 3 places I've ever stayed at and would stay again a million times over.

This was our second time staying in Monterey and I had been looking forward to staying at this hotel someday. It was everything I imagined and more! The service was exceptional from the valet to the bellhop to registration and restaurant staff. We are also IHG elite members and we were given a room upgrade with a thoughtful card and gift for our anniversary. Our room was facing the ocean on Cannery Row with a balcony. It was a very nice, spacious and clean room with alot of thoughtful attention like providing refillable water bottles, robes and an amazing Nespresso machine. There was also a wine bar and snacks available for purchase. The hotel had a wonderful scent throughout and we enjoyed walking through the ocean vibes staircase featuring a jellyfish. Definitely look for that! We loved having our anniversary dinner at The C Restaurant, but that will be another well earned review on it's own. However, we did have two negative experiences, one was that we waited a bit too long for our car at the valet once and there was an accidental spa charge on our receipt when checking out. I still gave them 5 stars because they rectified it right away and even removed the valet charge for us, which was much appreciated. The biggest issue started at check-in. I had specifically booked a double bed room with a fireplace, but upon arrival they only had a king room with a fireplace reserved for us (apparently anything through a third-party system was booking incorrectly, but I think that is on the hotel to resolve themselves). When I explained that we wanted double beds, they told us they only had a double room without the fireplace we originally booked. The room we ended up getting was a far walk from the elevators and overlooked the main street rather than the ocean, which did not feel worth the high nightly rate, especially after the reservation issue. I would have thought they would try to give us some upgrades (nicer room, nicer view) for the trouble. After my mom asked, they did comp one day of valet parking for the inconvenience but I honestly think they should have given more (and offered more to us in the first instance). I had very high expectations because I previously stayed at InterContinental Willard in DC in January for work and had an amazing experience. Even though that trip was not for a special occasion, the room included thoughtful touches like a handwritten card with artwork of the hotel, complimentary sparkling and still water, a large fruit bowl, and chocolate desserts waiting in the room. Willard also included a $20 daily dining credit and spa credit. Clement had none of these. At Clement, I had noted that we were celebrating Mother's Day and my mom's upcoming retirement, but there was nothing acknowledging the occasion. For the price we paid, the stay just did not feel special or luxurious. The amenities were also pretty underwhelming. The room itself was not noticeably larger or nicer than what you might expect from a standard 3-star hotel. While the hotel has been renovated, you can still see signs of age with rust around parts of the bathroom and sprinkler fixtures. While the location is convenient since it's walking distance to the aquarium, restaurants, and souvenir shops on Cannery Row, beware the surrounding area is heavily tourist-priced. Overall, this stay made me regret choosing Clement for such an important occasion. I don't think I would return, especially given the price point and the lack of attention to detail compared to other InterContinental hotels.

Toddler Notes for the Hotel: [[ Pro's ]] 1.) The room we got on the 3rd floor corner was very spacious and had a ton of room. Blackout shades and see-through shades for double coverage which keeps the room nice and dark at night. 3.) Location is great as it's super close to Cannery Row, lots of restaurants, and Monterey Bay Aquarium which was our ultimate destination. 4.) Parking Garage is free and decently sized and can fit a mid-size SUV with no issues. It will get tighter if you have a humongous full-SUV though (see pictures). [[ Con's ]] 1.) So Many STAIRS. Like legitimately, there are so many stairs. I took a ton of pictures to give you an idea. The steam also set off the fire alarm like another person mentioned. Quick conclusion - I think it's an okay IHG hotel but not very good for families with young kids. Good for the location though.

Plus the lobby looks great, the trees inside are fun, the bar looks great though we never sat down at it, and the beachy vibe was sweet. Cons: Not much else to say, nothing stood out, it didn't seem like anyone went above and beyond, little bit pricey on parking. Would I stay again? Sure would.

An update: shortly after posting my initial review, staff called back to say that they found the…read morekindle. (WOW. A miracle... So either housekeeping was being dishonest about finding it originally, or they're being dishonest about changing the bedding between guests.) And now, after nearly a month of waiting, calling, and emailing, the kindle was FINALLY mailed. My initial review still stands. What an incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience. "Disappointed" would be an understatement. Booked one night (using points) at this property and really wish we hadn't. Was charged a mystery $50 fee at check in. Then at checkout we asked what it was for, the guy working the front desk didn't have a clue and he tried to say he'd fix it "when the computers were working again." When we called his bluff by saying we'd come back in an hour, it was magically fixed. Shady! The room itself was meh... the floors were strangely sloped/didn't feel level. The real kicker here: there was no bedside table on my side of the bed (an inconvenience in itself), so my kindle was placed on the bed with me. I unfortunately forgot my kindle on the bed and didn't realize until we had checked out and were hours away. We called the hotel and were told they didn't find anything in the room. I know for a fact it was left in that room (I've double triple quadruple checked my luggage and there's no where else it could possibly be). Again, SHADY.

You'll see what I mean when you arrive. I love the feel of being away from it all. I think you might just like this place. Your drive to and from the aquarium will be conveniently close as well as to the surrounding cities, should you want to shop or dine outside of the area. We have stayed at this hotel a couple times now. We visit the Monterey Bay Aquarium as often as we can from Southern CA. I've stayed at other hotels in the same city and there are many of them. I mean plenty. For The Hilton Garden Inn Monterey, parking is assigned by sections of the hotel. Some underground, some right at street level. The lobby was spacious and surrounded by large windows. Hotel staff friendly and personable. Apparently, they recently renovated. I cannot give an idea of how the hotel was prior to that, however, I can attest that we really liked this place and that's why we continue to come back. The rooms were very tidy, comfortable and welcoming. The bathroom was clean and well lit. Every room we've stayed in had a great view of the pool and the surroundings. The pool area even had a fire pit which i absolutely loved! I think you'd be happy with this place and may even be a repeat guest. Don't forget to bring your fur baby! This place is pet friendly. Have a good sleep!

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a warm charm that made it easy to relax after a day of exploring the city. One of the highlights of our stay was how the hotel carried such a unique atmosphere and history. It wasn't just a place to sleep--it felt like part of the adventure. Between the ocean views, cozy spaces, and local touches, it really captured the spirit of Monterrey. And then there were the ghost stories. Whether you're a believer or just love a good tale, they add an extra layer of fun and mystery to the stay. If you're someone that believes (or not), go to the front desk and ask for the "book". It had 78 pages of first hand accounts of unexplained happenings from guests. We had a very small moment ourselves, while I was sharing what I uncovered about the ghosts with my significant other in the morning, suddenly the bathroom light just turned on. Nobody was around and they do run on sensors. Not a significant event but certainly was well timed. Overall, Hotel Del Monte struck the perfect balance between comfort, history, and a touch of playful spookiness. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Monterrey that has access to a military installation--especially if you're looking for more than just a hotel, but a memorable experience.

The interior is also gorgeous, and it's amazing how well they've kept up the history of this place. We stayed in a queen suite, which was very outdated. Because of how old the buildings are, there is no A/C, which is typically fine, but we happened to be there on one of the warmest days of the year. Our room had an odd smell to it, and the amenities are pretty minimal. However, we expected this due to the age of the building. Our only negative was that we were given the first room next to the entrance and stairwell, which was not fun to hear folks stomping up and down the stairs and slamming the doors. On Friday morning, several people we knew were awoken by the "active shooter drill" announcement at 8:00am. I understand this will happen on a naval academy base, but I wish we were warned about upon check-in just so we were aware and not startled in the morning.
