Enjoyed our private cottage retreat, their continental breakfast & afternoon snacks, hot tub, morning local newspaper daily at your front doorstep, fireplace, location (close to the beach) & friendly family business/service. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is the bed pillows were very uncomfortable and even caused a neck pain and headache. Therefore, I highly recommend staying here, just be sure to bring your own pillows. Also, we discovered they have a large well maintained grassy area with sitting areas to relax or play behind some of the cottages for everyone to enjoy. We also, love supporting family owned businesses too!! This is a great place to support.

Told the person on the phone that we stayed on our honeymoon at Andril 31 years ago. There was silence on the phone. She was all business and couldn't wait to get off the phone to me. For what you pay to stay there, courtesy goes a long way. I figured everyone is entitled to a bad day though. When we arrived she was very rough around the edges, curt and crass. She was holding her dog which she said hates people. She definitely does not belong in customer service that's for sure. She was very thorough about everything and did a walk though of our cabin. The cleanliness was the best I have ever seen even in the best hotels. They provide hand Sanitizer and the cottage we had had a separate kitchen stocked with pots and pans and other things to make it homey. Very well decorated . Bed was so comfortable and pillows were perfect. The one thing that I found strange was the pempto bismol colored handsoap. By the sink it was handsoap but in the shower, it was shampoo! See pictures. Bottom line, we won't be back. I remember the simple cabins with wood floors. I remember waking up to seeing deer in the meadow and extreme silence. It really felt like we were in the woods in a rustic cabin. Now it feels like you're in a magazine. I get that you have to keep up with the times but now it feels like a hotel rather than a cottage. It lost it's charm that i fell in love with and that made it stand out.

Been coming here since 1969. Love the hotel, the owners and the location so close to Asilomar.

Harps in Rancho Reposo living room

Our Celtic Harp group, Harpers Hall, held our annual retreat at Andril Fireplace Cottages and had a wonderful experience! The staff was friendly, helpful, and available to us, and the facilities were ideal for our group. We were in the two large cottages, Rancho Reposo and Casa Linda, and in addition one two-bedroom cottage. We played our harps in Rancho Reposo's large living room and ate our larger meals in Casa Linda's living room. The kitchen in Casa Linda was large enough for several people to be preparing meals, while the living room, with the help of a few folding tables, converted nicely into a dining and visiting area. We also enjoyed great weather and brought harps out to the enclosed front yard of Rancho Reposo for some of our music sessions. We were so happy, we've booked for next year and added another night!

This place was perfect for us and our 2 Dachshunds. The cottage (#15) and grounds were amazing and having a fenced private patio we could let the dogs out in was a huge plus. What was really impressive is arriving to our cottage seeing a bottle of wine and basket of treats to help us celebrate our anniversary. I must have mentioned we were coming over to celebrate and they thoughtfully remember. That is the kind of customer service that will leave a lasting impression. Thank you for making this much needed vacation a forever memory.

Booked a king bed unit with hubs and our dogs for a week. First time in a unit without a stove but we made do with the microwave and fridge and keurig. Orion, the resident Pomeranian greeted us when we checked in.Gas fireplace very nice and didn't have to deal with smoke and ash. The bed was comfortable enough with a memory foam mattress. The love seat was also a sofa bed but we didn't use it. Hubs loved the powerful flush on the toilet. Every thing was very clean and everyone very friendly. The best we got was 2 bars on our phones so bad reception. They did give us a password for the Wifi but we didn't use it. We appreciated that they had an EV charger on the property but an inconsiderate person left their car parked unnecessarily long. Not a tragedy as we used the Tesla charger at a nearby Lucky store. Came to rest and relax and it was a wonderful getaway. We've been here previously and will continue to come back. The breakfast provided was sufficient for our needs but if you want a hot breakfast better to get a unit with a kitchen to make your own as they only provided a continental type breakfast. People seemed to enjoy the outdoor communal hot tub and table tennis, but we didn't use not use those facilities. Location perfect to go to Monterey and Carmel.

Ask the Community - Andril Fireplace Cottages

Are there any ocean views anywhere?

The property does not have ocean views, but the beach is a 10 minute walk through the nearby Asilomar Conference Grounds.

What was the cost to stay. In a one bedroom with micro wave, small refrigerator?

The cost varies by season and availability. We went i early May so it was cheaper than say, the middle of July. You can get a discount if you belong to a booking site like Booking.Com. Your best bet is to call the place directly and get some quotes.

Can guests purchase the two day aquarium passes from you?

Post-COVID the Aquarium no longer offers the hospitality two day passes, you have to purchase tickets via their website.

    Do you guys have power?

Yes, the power recently came back on.

Is breakfast included in the price?

In the morning you can get fruit and cereal etc.

If, on the other hand, the staff and location are primary then this is a winner. We stayed at the Pine Acres Lodge for a week. Most of the week it was only two people and then the last couple days another couple joined us. The staff was fantastic. They were friendly and helpful. We arrived very early on our day of arrival and they were able to accommodate us immediately. They were cheerful and helpful as they did so. Each time we had interactions with them it was very pleasant. The location is great. It is probably 2 1/2 blocks from some super ocean views. A short walk or minuscule drive rewarded you with incredible sunsets and Asilomar State Beach. You are a block of two from one of the best golf values on the peninsula at Pacific Grove Golf Links . The Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary is an easy walk or about a one minute drive. It is well under 3-4 minutes to downtown Pacific Grove for restaurants, coffee, gas, shopping, etc. It is probably 10 minutes to the Monterey Aquarium and Cannery Row. The units are not new, large, nor are they luxurious. We were in a 1BR cottage with a Murphy bed. The kitchen was well stocked but, again, not new and not large. We were gone much of the time but always cooked breakfast and a few dinners without any issues. Four people fit in this unit without issues. Since the outside was so nice we found the accommodations very acceptable. We liked the Pine Acres Lodge and hope to return again.

So with Valentines in mind...check in at 4 but they sent a text saying our room was ready at 11 or so and asked what time might we expect you? My timing was four and that's about when we arrived. It's a bit complicated but the signage was clear and there were a couple of parking spaces right by the check in office. Wow what a place Old Victorian and absolutely beautiful inside. Check in was easy and fun, we could keep our car where it was parked. There were small socializing events, a champagne pour at 5, cookies at 7...Our room was just off the parking area with no stairs to climb. We were also close to the breakfast spot. (starts at 8-10) Our room was well a large bedroom, tall queen size bed, a very large bathroom, with a Great shower (water pressure) and rainfall shower head. Three large windows gave us a good view of the bay, the window shades were thick enough to block out most of the light. The mattress was super comfortable, we slept well. We took an Uber to the old pier and had dinner, it was very quiet in town, perfect. Free breakfast always has me wondering but today this was a very nice breakfast, egg soufflé, hash browns, lots of real fresh fruit, croissants, various breads, oatmeal, various topping and cereal. Hit flavorful coffee, juices, yogurts...good stuff. The stay was pricy for the off season but sometimes ya gotta spend a few bucks too enjoy the finer things in life. Today we're headed up highway One to Capitola and over to San Jose to Santana Row for dinner with the kids, stay tuned. Foodguy-Martin

At the time of my booking, Monterey county had not decided to shut down so I was able to keep the reservation during the entire week I was there even though the day after I arrived, no restaurants were open for in-person dining. (What luck!) The resort is very nondescript. You don't even know that you have arrived because the signs aren't displayed very conspicuously and the building shares space with some other businesses, including a restaurant on the ground floor. There are also no designated check-in spaces in front where you can park & check in. I had to call the front desk to tell them I had arrived at 11:58 AM (after a tiring 6 hour drive). The front desk rep (I forget her name, but she was a redhead), who seemed very annoyed, told me that I was lucky that she was at the desk because she was just leaving for lunch & there would have been no one to greet me in her place! (My first sign that the service at this place would be below expectations!) I asked her where I could park. She told me that she would meet me at the parking garage gate which could only be accessed by a remote control fob which she would have to give me. I met her with my car at the gate as she requested. She handed me through my car window a Ziploc bag with what she said was "all I need to know about the hotel" and proceeded to leave. I quickly asked her if she could spend a little more time to explain a few things to me so I could get better oriented in this place having just arrived from 400 miles away; specifically as to where I could park, where my room was situated, where the elevator was, etc. It wasn't even clear how to open the gate with the fob. She very hurriedly & very annoyedly rattled off a few selective answers to my questions & went on her way. I had to struggle to rip open the Ziploc bag & read the instructions while I was stuck outside the gate of the parking garage with people waiting behind me...... This wasn't the friendly first class greeting I was expecting from a resort that is supposed to be a "Premier Resort" according to Interval International. It turns out that the garage is the only way to access the hotel, which had no lobby and no direct access from the street, which was very odd! This means that you have to carry around the fob everywhere you go, even if you are just walking around the hotel. In addition, during multiple times during the day, you could not even access the floor which housed the tiny office because of their very rigid Covid restrictions. I never even got to see the office during my entire week stay. Any questions I had were communicated by phone. After this very rocky check-in, I was ready to start enjoying myself. When I got to the room, which was a 1 Bedroom suite, I was impressed with how large it was. It had a peek-a-boo view of the bay as well which was nice , especially on crystal clear days even though the bay was about 4 blocks away. The living area had a nice large couch set in front of a large screen TV . The room also had a large dining room table and a full kitchen. The furniture was a bit outdated but sufficient for our purposes. The room also had a small loft with a small chair & a table, which seemed a waste of space to me. (I was told that this is for parents to get some alone time?). The bedroom, which was furnished with a nice comfortable bed, small table & chair was also a nice size. There was also an abundance of storage space (designed for a large family, not for a childless couple as we were). There were some minor repair issues right off the bat which I was able to get resolved but all-in-all the room was very nice. In the time that we were there when the restaurants were actually opened, I was able to book at some great restaurants known for their seafood. I particularly loved the Wild Fish & PassionFish. Also worth mentioning is a great Portuguese bakery called Pavel's which is always packed & open only until they run out of their last pastry for the day, which could be pretty early in the day. Everything there is truly mouthwatering & worth every penny (Don't expect a bargain!) The tarts especially are not to be missed! The location of the resort is also convenient to Monterey & Carmel which are both spectacular and worth the drive.

We especially want to call out Diane, Lex, C.J., and Matt. They are joyous, welcoming, and are expert at making us feel like we belong there. A very personal experience because of them, so thank you! This review would not be complete without mentioning their coffee! They keep it hot in the lobby with plenty of cups, covers, utensils all day, every day. If you're coffee lovers as we are, it is a fabulous bonus. Their grab-and-go breakfast bags are adorable and enough to get you going with their coffee. Lots of "YUMS" as we first open our eyes each morning. Next, the housekeeping and maintenance people are all especially friendly. One of their housekeeping executives, Lourdes, told me how much she loves the region--and lives nearby. You can get whatever you need from the front desk, towels, bottles of water, supplies, you name it. There is no daily housekeeping unless you request it, which honestly is a good thing--as it allows you to relax each morning with quiet and solitude. To summarize, we HIGHLY recommend this property.
