Such an amazing stay in downtown pacific grove! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful all the way from facilitating easy check in to recommending nearby places for a bite. The room was gorgeous with an outstanding view. Breakfast was available daily and was a delicious way to start the day and the dining room also had a beautiful view of the water. There was also a wine hour and cookies available each night. Overall had an amazing stay!

We stayed here for two wonderful nights and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The location is perfect, directly across the street from Monterey Bay and within walking distance to the aquarium and downtown Pacific Grove. The staff were so friendly and helpful, from the time we made our reservation to check-in and their recommendations during our stay. We stayed in the Cypress Room and were thrilled to watch whales and sea otters out our windows. We can't wait to come back! .

At the beginning of August 2025, we treated ourselves to a night in the Bellevue room to celebrate, after dropping my state retirement packet in nearby San Jose. This was such an amazing treat. I've driven by this Inn many times on visits to family in the area. I've literally always wanted to stay in this beautiful, historic inn. Our room had a little living area with sofa, featuring a direct view of the ocean and Lover's Point. I could have sat there for days enjoying the view. Our accommodations were exceptional, with a comfortable bed, spacious bathroom and friendly staff. The only negative was that staff were pretty rigid on the check in time (no early check in), even though it seems unlikely the room was not ready for a weeknight stay. The stay included a full breakfast, which was very tasty. I would like to return...will have to be another 'big' occasion, because ocean view rooms are not cheap, even midweek. You can't beat the location though.

Complimentary greeting champagne

This is a quaint and charming spot that is beachside. They have complimentary wine hour and cookie hour. It was a lovely stay. There's also a gorgeous beach steps away for a sunset walk 10/10 will be back!! Also the bed is really comfortable

Such a lovely B and B. Staff is wonderful, the common areas both inside and out are beautiful. I stayed in the Gables room, super clean, a comfy bed, and gorgeous ocean views.

Amazing room. Service. Location free champagne and breakfast Did I say amazing service. Front desk is responsive to all requests. I'm staying 3 nights 4 days

Beautiful and excellent stay! We loved it here with the nice rooms, comfortable bed, delicious coffee in our room, good breakfast, wine and cookie hour...we can not wait to come back! It was one of our favorite places to stay!

Absolutely LOVED staying here. It's beautiful, peaceful, and very clean. My husband and I were on a business trip and stayed our first night at a Marriott. We switched over to the Seven Gables Inn and wish we had stayed here from the start. We will definitely be coming back on our next trip.

Staying here is just surreal. It's so beautiful and luxurious! We spend hours sitting in the oh-so-comfortable chairs, looking at the view of the majestic Monterey Bay. We're greeted with a scrumptious breakfast each morning, a lovely wine reception in the afternoons, and delicious fresh-baked cookies in the evening. The bed is sooooo comfy and the pillows and blankets are just perfect. The staff--every one of them--are friendly and helpful. Even chatty, if you're in the mood for some conversation:) We can not wait to come back!

All i can say is that our stay at this place exceeded our expectations. Wonderful and friendly staff at the front desk and at breakfast. We were greeted at the front desk by the amazing person named Janette and was offered champagne at check-in and also the location right across the lover point beach and walking distance to restaurants. So i would stay here again in the future .

Seven Gables is an amazing place to stay at. I stay here at least once a year. The wonderful and attentive staff members which really make this place a very comfortable location. The morning breakfast is always delicious. The views are great especially from the Gable Room. I always look forward to staying here.

Chautauqua Room - 10.2023

Came back for our 1 year anniversary. Stayed in a different room this time: Chautauqua room. A lot smaller, yet still cozy. Had some views of the ocean though limited. The room was in the breakfast building, it also had a second door directly to the outside / parking lot, which was nice. This is hands down my favorite place in all the world to stay and i think i may just have to make it a tradition to come here at least once a year. We had an incredible anniversary celebration and stay here.

The location is perfect and has a great view. We stayed in the Mariposa Room which is on the second floor and has an unbelievable view of lovers point and the bay. The room has an electric fireplace which is not that bright and produces no heat. It basically takes up spaces and does not add to the ambiance of the room. The inn is great the lobby area and furniture is fantastic We checked in with the staff to a glass of champagne. The site indicated a wine and cheese which has not been done since the pandemic. They need to update. The check in offer of 20% off rate and n January was not honored they said that was if you paid ahead on a the website it would be taken then But the fact you would not be able to check in at home this made little sense. The breakfast was good multiple types of cereal fresh fruit, Eggs and Potatoes ( these items were a bit cold and not held to temperature even when they first came out. Juice, tea and coffee was available. Breakfast is between 8 and 10 and was serve yourself. Parking 2 handicap and 3 regular otherwise park on the side streets the Main Street has a 2 hour posted time limit. The location is a short walk to the aquarium, cannery row and downtown Pacific Grove you could park and get around with out moving your car The room we were in was a bit tight but you could sit in chairs to look out the windows and move them to walk around the bed at night. Plugs are limited so CPAP users beware. K Cup in the room and water. Shower has soap hair wash and Conditioner. Two robes one size does not fit all. Would I comeback with out a question

They've done a great job of keeping the character of the house but also modernizing it. All of the staff were friendly and helpful. Leese was at the front desk for most our stay and she was very kind and helpful. Housekeeping and the cooking staff do a great job as well. We had breakfast every morning and it was hot, fresh and provided variety each day. We stayed in Room 21, La Porte. It included a private side entrance outside the main house which was great. I think our room location was a little noisier than other rooms due to the entrance area outside the room being used by staff and some other guests. This wasn't a bad thing for us but something to note for those looking for quiet. We'll definitely come back to Pacific Grove and the Gosby will definitely be a consideration for lodging.

The room had a nice jacuzzi bathtub which we both enjoyed. The bed was big and comfortable. There was a cool antique wardrobe in the room which we used to store our clothes. The only downside was that it got a little cool in our room at times (it would be fine in the summer probably but this was in mid February). I put 2 extra blankets on top and we turned on both heaters, the one in the bathroom and the one in our room. Once the heaters had been on for a while it got quite warm and cozy. I would recommend they purchase a nice big down comforter for the room because then we would not need to use as much heat. There was an imitation down comforter but those are not as warm. The service was excellent and everyone was very friendly and nice and helpful. The inn was very clean. The food was excellent. I ate way too many calories for the breakfast but it was so delicious. I didn't gain weight on this trip though, maybe because of all the walking I did, Pacific Grove is an adorable little town and the Lovers Point walking trail is delightful. Make sure to admire the cute houses in the town. So many fun little details. There is a combo bookstore/coffee shop next door to the Gosby House and it was so nice to head over there one morning and get a cappuccino and chat with the other people in the cafe. We also went to the aquarium which is close by and to the Sardine Factory restaurant, which is very nice. One of the perks of staying at the Gosby House is their fresh baked cookies and wine hour. We don't drink alcohol but the fresh baked cookies were delicious, we definitely enjoyed! My favorite was the chocolate/chocolate. Yum. I would definitely return to the Gosby House or back to another 4 sisters inn. I got a really good impression. We also went to the Pacific Thai restaurant which is about 1 block away from the Gosby House. That was great too and I had a good artichoke soup. Parking was quite easy for the Gosby House. They don't have their own lot but it was easy to find parking very close. Check in time was 4pm I think but we got there a little early and our room was ready. The other guests were peaceful and nice and clearly having a good time. The inn was mostly quiet and peaceful. It was quiet at night. I would highly recommend this Inn. Overall it was a very good experience.

I really enjoyed staying here for our little weekend trip to Monterey!…read more I got the Walnut room. Its quaint with direct access to the courtyard. When we got there, an inn keeper greeted us warmly and gave us a quick tour of the place before showing us to our room. The room was clean and provided everything you would expect from a hotel room (towels, soaps, robes, etc.). I only wish there were more counter space for the bathroom. The breakfast was very good too; they served us a bread pudding with scrambled eggs and bacon. The inn itself had a comforting, vintage feel (without feeling dilapidated). In case you decided to go with one of the less expensive rooms (like I did) the inn also has rooms where you can sit and view the ocean. The inn is located close to the aquarium and local shops, so it was very convenient. Parking was easy to find- there is a parking lot in front of the inn, or you can find plenty of street parking. I found that the parking lot was almost empty when I went a few hours before my check-in time. I would definitely come back here for any future stays. :)

Pros: Spectacular historical property, perfect oceanfront location, the sound of the ocean from your bedroom window, a beautiful courtyard, incredible antiques in every room, pretty wallpaper, good breakfast served in a wonderful room with panoramic ocean view. I also really liked Yuri and Casey. They were both lovely and friendly. Cons: The lobby is odd, dark and uninviting. There should be a check in desk and it should be welcoming. There could be a luxury candle burning to make it smell nice. The piano room is strange too. There should be a small bar and lively music or classical music. The sofas should be useable. It should be a place for socializing. The wood burning fireplaces are outdated and should be gas with a switch. My room was nice but smokey because of the fireplace, which I didn't use. Fresh baked cookies in the evening would be nice. Whatever their plans are, I hope the owners make improvements but don't over-modernize.

We were able to get the 3rd-floor room with a bedroom in the top of the "turret" right at the front of the house! Our daughter stayed in it, and got to sleep like a princess for the night - super cool. For such a cool place, what's even better is that it was a lot less expensive than the hotels located right on the coast. But these were just a few blocks away, so the water is still very accessible from The Charles. And most of those hotels have smaller rooms, and were far less cool and unique. We felt like we got a way better deal. And if you stay in a room on the upper floors, you very well may have an ocean view anyway (we did). We were also very happy to support a hotel with a welcoming, inclusive philosophy. All staff were very friendly and helpful. As the property is on the National Register of Historic Places, it's very well-preserved, and feels like stepping back in time - but also very well-kept; it still felt up to date in the right ways. Just one thing to note: There is no elevator. Because it's on the Register of Historic Places, the staff explained they're literally not allowed to add one. It wasn't an issue for us, but even so the staff still very kindly offered to help us carry luggage. So even for those who may have difficulty carrying luggage up stairs, it shouldn't be a big deal. We're looking forward to staying there again!

I've never experienced anything like it. The "continental breakfast" is pathetic. Cold and tiny pastries and blueberry bagels. So expect to eat elsewhere for breakfast. I recommend Winston's around the corner (it's outstanding). The lady at the front desk the day we checked out and that I reported the shower leak to was very hospitable.
