Located right across from the Del Monte Shopping Center and about ten minutes away from the Cannery Row, so it is a good location to stay a few nights. It has its own parking lot and it is a two-story building painted in a nice green. Like other places I have stayed at, this one also has dim lighting. I prefer brighter rooms and have to turn on the lights near the restroom and the lamp in between the beds to get better lighting. The room is rather small, and with multiple people in one room, we had to move our things around or to scoot in the chair to get around. Wall outlets are not convenient. There was one on the side of the bed and the lamp. I wish they had one next to the desk. And big alert! The mini fridge operates more like a freezer! My food and drink became frozen. Thankfully, there was a microwave that we could use to heat it up. And I don't know if they did vacuum well enough or not...parts of the carpet was bumpy and poke my bare feet. However, would I come back here? Yes, I would. Despite these issues, location and price are good, and I'm only here for a short period of time and not spending all my time in the room.

I would give this inn a 3.5 stars. Needed a place to stay in Monterey during the week for a wedding. A lot of the other hotels were expensive, over $200 and that isn't in our budget right now. So we found this Inn on Booking.com. You get what you pay for. Don't expect an elegant looking inn. Parking is tight, but we were able to park right in front of our door. Seems to be a two story inn. I am not sure if there are elevators to get to the 2nd level. We checked in late and there was about two spots available, but when it was day time I did see some more parking available on the other side of the street blocked off just for the guests. The decor is...not to say anything really about it lack there of. The beds are beds. Nothing fancy or plush like. There was a mini fridge that def kept our drinks cold and when I mean cold almost freezer like!and a microwave. They offered in room tea and coffee. Had a small table with one chair along with a big dresser that a flat screen tv sits on. As for the bathroom, the shower water pressure was very very soft but the water heated up fast. If I need to every stay here on a budget I guess I would, but it's not in the top of my lists. It's located right across from the shopping mall and there are gas stations and liquor stores near by for convenience. The one thing that was great was that I didn't hear our next door neighbors or above us at all so that was a big plus! This room also had AC and it cooled down the room real fast.

Got a good nights sleep. The and the pillows were great. I decided to establish a scale for rating hotels and motels. I apply the same scale for "luxury" hotels as well as "budget" motels as I stay in all types depending on where I am traveling and the purpose. After cleanliness there is no particular order. 1. Cleanliness. Excellent 2. Comfort of bed. Great 3. Comfort of pillows. Are there both firm and soft available. Both were available and were good 4. How new is the room decor and fixtures. Worn 5. Quality of room. This includes size, temperature, smell, lighting. It as a bit warm but opening the window helped. We were able to leave it open all night. 6. Quality of bathroom. This includes size, lighting, ventilation. Functional. 7. Bathroom amenities. These include magnifying mirror, presentation, quantity and quality of toiletries. Softness of tissue and towels. Good towels. Average amenities. 8. Friendliness of staff. Nice man 9. Noise. Road noise, adjacent room noise, air conditioner noise. We were in the back so the noise was minima. 10. Price. Was it worth the price I paid all things considered? This includes proximity to conferences and activities. With tax, which was about 2%, it was $155. Best location we could find to get to Big Sur to see the condors

The only thing that I remembered to take a picture of.

I wanted to update this with a fresh perspective. I have given this place 5 stars because I throughly enjoyed my stay here even though there were small hiccups. When researching this place on their website there isn't much insight to what the rooms look like. So I called anyways and booked the place for the fireplace because that was all I was really interested in along with a bathtub. Pros: We got a discount on our room stay, they allowed early check in, Room 11 came with a jacuzzi tub inside of the room, the bathtub was extremely clean to the point that I did not need to deep clean, the bed was comfortable and the sheets and comforter was very clean. I slept like a baby. The complimentary soap, shampoo and makeup wipes worked and smelled great. TV had good channels to pass time, plenty of towels. Has a microwave. Right across the street from local mall and dining. Less than 10 minutes away from Cannery Row and Downtown Monterey. Cons: The refrigerator didn't work but we brought our own ice chest. The jacuzzi jets didn't work but the tub worked great to soak in. I will definitely come back and stay in the same room happily. The fireplace was the main event! Thank you for providing awesome service!

In the face of what appears to be complete abandonment of small businesses by the government, I am doing my best to support them as much as possible. I have no complaints only kudos for this place. It's a small, family owned, super quaint inn that quite frankly puts the large chains to shame. The value for what they offer cannot be beat. I got more out of this place and spent less than I would have anywhere else, even Motel 6 (ICK). The location is close to everything, including Highway 1 - which is the connector to the neighboring towns of Seaside, Salinas, Carmel and Pebble Beach. I loved that the rooms come with a coffee maker as the large chains have done away with them as some weird way of combating COVID-19 - as if you can't sterilize a coffee maker (heavy eye roll). I appreciate being able to check in at 2pm as opposed to the standard 4pm. Dog fee is a mere $25/night. I'll gladly pay it given the low room rate. There are so many ways in which this little place is superior to any chain. I plan on returning sooner rather than later.

Basic motel but our room was clean and it had a fireplace. The location is great with a large shipping center across the street with lots of restaurants.

Loving our stay! It's quiet, has a lovely fireplace, and it's pet friendly! Reasonable price too and decent location.

Friendly staff greeted upon arrival. Easy location parking is available as a fridge raider coffee maker Fireplace. Enjoying my stay thank you

Noting like the pictures they have advertised about! Not clean! Ripped carpet which could make me fall with getting my shoes stuck in there. Fire place had a sign that closed fireplace! Shower had barely water coming out of it. All the furniture were old and damaged like I didn't feel like using any drawers. And over all it was such a sad looking room for $350 spent on small room for two nights. They were so cheap that didn't even bother to pit a radio or clock in the room. For the second night we recognized that the sheets are not changed either! Thank you for such a false advertisement!

Bray performed solo with just his guitar and vocals, and what impressed me most was the incredible range of music he covered. His set moved effortlessly across decades and styles--from Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra, and Lionel Richie to David Bowie, Simple Minds, Howard Jones, The Romantics, Georgia Satellites, and more. Some of my favorites included "Folsom Prison Blues," "As the World Falls Down," "You Spin Me Round," "No One Is to Blame," "Don't You (Forget About Me)," "Sundown," and a beautiful rendition of "Fly Me to the Moon." The warm, elegant atmosphere of the hotel lobby was a perfect setting for Bray's acoustic performance. He has a wonderful ability to take familiar songs and make them his own while still preserving what made us love them in the first place. What I particularly appreciate about Bray is his versatility. Whether he is performing with a full band or standing alone with a guitar, he knows how to read a room, connect with an audience, and create an atmosphere that makes you want to stay and listen. Another thoroughly enjoyable performance. If you have an opportunity to see Bray live--or are looking for a talented, professional, and versatile musician for a venue or private event--I highly recommend him. Looking forward to the next one! https://www.facebook.com/braygurnari

For a hotel charging over $400 a weeknight, finding a sexually explicit photograph with a…read morehandwritten note left on a chair in the lobby is absolutely appalling. Frankly, this is the kind of thing I'd expect to encounter at a Motel 6, not a premium Monterey hotel. I brought it to the front desk because I felt someone needed to know what was being left in the lobby. The employee was shocked and said it was horrible, but there wasn't much follow-up. I returned to my husband and baby, honestly relieved that I was the one who found it rather than a child. The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, the staff we encountered were friendly, check-in and valet were quick, and the crib delivery was appreciated. The location itself nice, although the surprise two-elevator trip from our room to the lobby was inconvenient, especially with a stroller. I wish the layout had been clearer when booking, I didn't need an ocean view but I highly value convenience which is why I booked a Cannery Row hotel to begin with. The lobby incident is what I'll remember most. I would expect the hotel to staff to acknowledge such an atrocity a bit more. Monterey was wonderful for my first visit, and I'll absolutely return, but I'll probably be choosing a different hotel next time. Update: I brought up the incident again at checkout, and the front desk employee responded, "Oh yes, we were made aware of that." No further acknowledgment or explanation. We were then asked if we wanted to review our bill and informed that parking alone was $102. The casual response to such an inappropriate discovery in a public lobby, combined with the $400+ room rate and $102 parking fee, only reinforced my disappointment with this experience.

Hotel staff were very friendly and professional. This time we had the oceanfront room with the sofa bed. Beautiful views, of course, from the balcony. The room was clean, however there is an ant problem in the bathroom. It was not too bad, but we still weren't thrilled to see an ant here and there crawling on our things in the bathroom. It is strange that they use cloth shower curtains, so every time you take a shower they get soaked. Some toiletries are provided, but not as many as they used to. They used to give lotion, shower caps, shower gel, etc. Now it's just bar of soap, shampoo and conditioner. The bathroom is nice, though, with double sinks. Sofa bed worked out great for our 8 year old. She said it was comfortable, and we were also comfortable in the king size bed, which had a firm mattress. It can get noisy in the room with the balcony door open due to the seals and seagulls, but closing the door blocks most of the sound. We kept it open in the day and shut it when we went to bed. Breakfast - well, I guess you can't really complain too much when it's complimentary with the room, but it's really nothing to write home about. Hard boiled eggs, fruit plate, yogurt, and some muffins. Me, being a diabetic, I couldn't really eat any of it, except the eggs. Our daughter enjoyed it, though she is pretty easygoing. We had been hoping to save some money by eating breakfast at the hotel but we ended up eating breakfast out every day we were there. Be prepared to do A LOT of walking because this hotel is at the very end of Cannery Row -- although it's great exercise, and gave us a chance to work off all the calories from our meals. lol. The room was nice, we'd probably stay there again. One thing we were disappointed about was the hotel used to offer a discount if you bought aquarium tickets through them. They no longer do that. They also used to offer free bottled water in the room, which they also no longer do.

When we decided to extend our stay by an extra night, our harbor-view room wasn't available for the additional night, but they went out of their way to make it work so we didn't have to switch rooms. We really appreciated that! Parking was also very reasonably priced at $25, especially compared to other hotels in the area. The room itself was spacious, the bed was very comfortable (firm, just how we like it), and the harbor view was absolutely perfect. We were a little concerned after reading reviews about the sea lions being noisy, but we actually loved hearing them from the balcony! Once the balcony door was closed, we couldn't hear them at all, and they never disturbed our sleep. One of our favorite perks was the complimentary binoculars available to guests--they were a fun touch for watching the harbor. And don't miss the sunrise from the fourth-floor rooftop terrace--it's absolutely beautiful! There were just a few minor things that could be improved. The hotel only has one elevator, and it can be quite slow during busy times. We also wish the freshly baked cookies were available throughout the day. They were put out around 3:00 p.m., but they disappeared almost immediately because they were so popular. When we arrived, our room temperature was around 78°F. We called the front desk to ask about the A/C and were told someone would come up. Security arrived and explained that the hotel doesn't have air conditioning, so the options are to use the fan or open the balcony door. It would have been helpful if the front desk had shared that information when we called. We left the screened balcony door open while we were out the next day, and the room cooled down nicely. The only other thing we wished the room had was a microwave. Overall, these were very minor issues compared to everything we loved about our stay. The location, views, comfortable rooms, and outstanding customer service made for a wonderful experience.

The location was good, grounds lovely, house whimsical & fun, breakfasts yummy...but all that is for naught if you can't sleep at night. See the pic of me sitting on the edge of the all memory foam bed, with no supported siding/edges, and NO SUPPORT at all unless you are light as a feather or young. If you have back or hip issues, neck issues, or sleep with two people who literally don't want to roll into each other in the middle of the bed...these beds are torture. I had to gather blankets from the car, extra towels from the bathroom, sheets & blankets from hallway linen closets to make a pile on the floor that was better to sleep on than the bed. I toss & turn at night and get up to go to the bathroom a few times, I couldn't even get to sleep due to the slope issues. Trying to turn over the mattress would bounce up to meet my body, making turning over a huge chore. While the floor was obviously too firm, it wax far better than the bed. When we told the owner, she literally didn't bat an eye and quickly recited how everyone loves the beds & they have a list of guests to send the bed info to...it was so quick a response, with NO "I'm so sorry you had to do that" that it felt like she has heard this before and this is her pat answer. For people in the hospitality business for years, this was not an adequate response. So many of my friends said how they could've sleep in a soft bed - - so, this review is for those of you who need a SUPPORTIVE or firm bed, you will need to go elsewhere as all the rooms have the same mattresses. If I had seen a review like mine, I would have chosen to stay elsewhere - even though the themed layout was right up my alley. Between my husband being a bigger guy and us in our 60s/70s with various normal aches & pains, this mattress was a huge detriment and you just need to take it into consideration before you book. We are retired and travel 4-5 months a year around the world and I have NEVER encountered a bed like this (and they are new!!). Just feedback about the bed as the Inn is pretty and breakfast good. Was just disappointed telling them about sleeping on the floor was taken so nonchalantly.

The issues started during the night with noise from service carts and wheels rolling loudly outside the balcony, dispute it was past 11pm. Things only got worse in the early morning when I was woken up around 5:00 AM by the loud beeping noises of loading and unloading beeping noises nearby. Additionally, the room amenities were frustrating. I know the Hilton chain moved away from providing individually packaged toiletries years ago in favor of bulk dispensers, but the large bottles in my bathroom were not refilled. See video attached. The lotion was so low below the straw pump that I wasn't able to get any lotion out of the bottle. To make matters worse, breakfast was not included in the stay, which felt like a letdown given the price and the hotel's premium setting. I've paid way less than $350/ night at a Hilton hotel that included breakfast. I was incredibly disappointed at this specific location.
