Bathroom! Shiny floors, clean and organized, smells good
    αudrεε.

Clean rooms, fresh coastal atmosphere has a mini fridge & tv, lit vanity & adjustable blinds, complementary soap, lotion, conditioner, shampoo, shower gel. Clean beds & towels! Worth the low prices!

This mirror is really crooked. The contractor should have just moved this over to the left by like 4-5".

This is a nice quaint little Boutique Hotel. The trend that most Motels upgrade to and not be reminded of the 20th Century. At first glance you think "eh, it's all right and it's just for the weekend". But really, they have done a lot of interior upgrades. Upgrades, but not near a true 5 Star Designer and Contractor Upgrade with true thought and completion. I also had to remind my 3rd oldest daughter NOT TO BE ANTHONY MELICHIORRI!!! She loves that show. So what I mean is this and you can refer to my pics. The design look is no where Motel like even the sheets. The furnishing is new, feels updated with the current times of design. But the full size mirrors in my room and my daughter's room. Well let's just say that they are crooked and covering an electric outlet. My bathroom and my daughter's have mold and street soot around the windows and the window cover tint. My bathroom, the ventilation fan cover was off and dangling. The shower heads hasn't been cleaned as you can see calcium build up and when it's on sprays every where. I also found it odd that the overflow drain in the sink is just below the faucet. And the faucet sink just doesn't blend in the new design. The flooring between the room and bathroom well, they could have used a T strip aka transition strip to prevent someone's foot, toes, heel, shoe sole anything related to feet or shoes from being being caught or worse trip and onto the toilet or towards the sink. That is a safety issue. But the carpets are new and some areas are frayed. The doorway and bathroom windows could use sound insulation. You can hear traffic on La Salle at all times of the day. All times of the day. My room TV tends to shut off after randomly and was also blamed for playing tricks. The Xfinity box is balancing on top of the TV and the TV has like two wooded "end caps" to cover the flat screen or prevent theft. Our rooms have a Petite Mini Fridge with a freezer, Microwave, Iron and Ironing Board. The shelving unit that houses the fridge could use a cleaning in the back. To minimize dust. Queen beds are comfortable, sheets are clean and the frame is modernize. Pillows are comfortable but are of twin bed design and not of a Queen Size. But there are six pillows albeit twin size. Crown moulding makes the room feel luxurious. The base boards are of similar design. The wall mounted night lamps sitting above the night stands has USB Charging Ports and that also includes the outlet. There are no Alarm clocks and that is a sign of the times that more and more people are using their Smart Phones like I am right now drafting this review. The main windows has shutters which is a good touch and not that drabby tasteless curtains that even some of the Branded Hotels uses. The AC/Heating unit appears old and could use maybe a facelift or color update. It's powerful and functional. Doesn't have any weird smell as it's being used so I assume they change the filters often. Will I stay here again? Sure. It's a budget Boutique Hotel with Continental Breakfast. The minor faults I can live with for a week. Two maybe pushing it. Surrounded by local malls in walking and short driving distances. If they make some minor fixes and the housekeeping staff points this out. This Boutique Hotel could a hidden jewel. Till then and next time, Enjoy the Moment!!

It is okay, nothing amazing, good bed, plenty of hot water, tv might need an upgrade and the carpet needs a steam cleaning, but overall the place is just right for the price. Close to many restaurants and not far from downtown Monterrey.

Wow this place is a hidden gem! Came here 10/6 (fri) night and the price, room and location was great! Everything is new and everything was clean! Room 204. The shower was clean and the soaps are even made in usa! Theres a window inside the bathroom too which I like. The weather was perfect and didnt have to turn anything on. Free parking without any trouble finding a spot. I would definitely come here again! You can buy the monterey bay aquarium here which you get 2 day visits for the price of one. No brekkie but thats no big deal. Theres some pizza/ pasta place in the same lot and it has great reviews but didnt have time to go.

Sand Castle Inn is my family's new go-to place to stay when visiting Monterey. Located in Seaside, it's worth staying a little farther out vs staying at a place closer to Cannery Row that have nasty rooms and a high price. It seemed that they newly renovated their rooms: new fixtures and furniture. Our stay felt clean, which was all I can ask for. There was also a door that led to a small balcony with a view of Costco across the street lol.

The Sand Castle Inn welcomes you to a neat, clean, and scrubbed bathroom.

PLOP! That's the sound of me flopping on the bed when I walked in. It wasn't just the 2-hour drive to begin a much-needed getaway with my hunny. The room was inviting, the bed was begging to be laid upon, so . . . PLOP! I'd read about the area, and it's actually not that bad (or maybe I'm accustomed to East Oakland). There are numerous motels within half a mile of the northern Fremont Street exit off Highway 1, and the Sand Castle looks comparable to them, in some ways better. It's a better approach from the north, starts to get sketchy further south on Del Monte. But the property itself is well taken care of. So are the rooms. They're like Motel 6, but with several plusses: Flat-screen TV on the wall. Refrigerator/freezer. Hair dryer. Complimentary internet access. Complimentary breakfast, but it's popular, so get there early. No pool, but Monterey usually doesn't have swimmable weather anyway. A hot tub would be nice, though, if they can fit one in. Location: very good. Again, within half a mile of Highway 1. Within walking distance of the essentials: Tarjay, Save Mart, Dollar Tree, Ross, Wing Stop. Beach access is less than a mile away. And the peninsula area is small enough that you can drive anywhere within a few minutes. And between adventures, you PLOP! Now for the caveats. The Sand Castle is not for those who would say "Seaside? EW!" It's also not for those who say "Near car repair shops? EW!" Fine then, go to Pacific Grove or Carmel; to each their own. For those who book a hotel room to only sleep in, and are careful about how much they pay for that, I join the masses in saying that the Sand Castle is one of the better motels in the area. So put in your reservation, and . . . PLOP!

I stayed here for a weekend recently. I thought it was a great hotel for the price. The motel is located in Seaside just 1/2 mile from the ocean. You can't see the ocean and it's not easy to get there so it's not "right on the ocean". However it's close to a lot of great things. Monterey, Pacific Grove, Carmel, Marina are all within a 15 minute drive. It's located between some busy streets in a pretty run down business area. It looks like it's trying to come back. There are many auto dealers down the way. It's close to big box stores like Target, Costco and World Market. The room is a pretty typical motel room. There's a bed, a desk, a dresser, a closet area, a sink and a bathroom. The bathroom has an inset tube and curved shower rod so it's easy to get in and out and feels like there is a lot of room. The bathroom light was not very bright which made showering weird. You really have to adapt to it. There was no carpeting, only hardwood floors. A large TV hung on the wall. The bed was ok but seemed old and not very comfortable. Everything was clean. It came with a fridge/microwave combo. The reception area is small but nice and clean. The service was friendly enough. The continental breakfast consists of cereal and milk, danish, bread, juice and make your own waffles. This place has free wi-fi. It's not the fastest but it's enough to browse the internet. The worst part was that on the day of check out I was awoken by the cleaning service at 9am. I was tired and wanted to sleep but couldn't get back to sleep. I didn't have the DND sign out but I thought this wouldn't be a problem before check out time. Overall, I thought this was a great place for the price.

The steak, the grits, the shrimp, the salad(which I'm really not a fan of rabbit food), the 3 dessert choices, all were over the top! there were many things to eat, I can't remember them all, but I sampled all of them and it all, was fantastic!!! Fridge was a good size (not a basic mini fridge), taller, fits plenty food for several days if needed. The microwave, looked new--great quality as well! I loved how the appliances matched the decor very well The sink was sparkling clean with an amazing stylish looking mirror! It was simply pretty. I love that there was a built-in soap dispenser right there too! The bath/shower was simply beautiful! Clean, sparkling clean! Pretty double white shower curtains. I have to add, the soap, body wash and shampoo dispensers were very pretty too, very classy looking-- real "penthouse " look! I love that the washcloths were displayed in a "floral" style-fold!! I wish I took a pic to share! Trust me- it was cute, even the tissue in the dispenser had a cute floral decorative look to it as well! Wow!! Picture this: Thanksgiving leftovers are gone, everyone's off work for a few days, and boredom kicks in. So naturally we decided to take an impromptu road trip up the California coast on a holiday weekend with ZERO reservations. Yes. That was our brilliant plan. To be fair, we knew exactly what we were getting ourselves into. Hotel availability would be about as scarce as the leftovers back at home. But honestly? The adventure was the point. We ended up booking this hotel with a "standard room" while sitting in a restaurant eating dinner. My husband kept saying, "It's just one night. BOOK IT" and so I did. When we arrived, the woman at the front desk was incredibly kind and welcoming. She let us know they only had one room left and the bed was a full-size instead of a queen or king. I frowned and my husband gave me the universal exhausted husband look of, I truly do not care, I need sleep. The front desk agent even offered to let us look at the room first and said if we didn't like it, we could cancel with no penalty. That alone was appreciated. Now, I'm not going to lie the setup gave very classic roadside motel vibes. Open walkways, doors facing outside, the kind of place where someone could walk right up from the street to your room. I did my little internal cringe...but I knew Mr. Sleepy Pants wanted to sleep. We checked out the room, accepted our fate, and stayed. The room itself was actually very clean and comfortable. It had both a fridge and microwave, which was a nice surprise. I also asked for extra blankets because even at home in our king size bed we somehow fight like survivalists over blanket territory, and she happily gave us plenty. There was also a small concession area with snacks, which was convenient after a long drive. At the end of the day, if you're passing through and just need a clean, comfy place to sleep for the night, I honestly see nothing wrong with this property. Sometimes road trips aren't about luxury they're about the memories you laugh about later.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a warm charm that made it easy to relax after a day of exploring the city. One of the highlights of our stay was how the hotel carried such a unique atmosphere and history. It wasn't just a place to sleep--it felt like part of the adventure. Between the ocean views, cozy spaces, and local touches, it really captured the spirit of Monterrey. And then there were the ghost stories. Whether you're a believer or just love a good tale, they add an extra layer of fun and mystery to the stay. If you're someone that believes (or not), go to the front desk and ask for the "book". It had 78 pages of first hand accounts of unexplained happenings from guests. We had a very small moment ourselves, while I was sharing what I uncovered about the ghosts with my significant other in the morning, suddenly the bathroom light just turned on. Nobody was around and they do run on sensors. Not a significant event but certainly was well timed. Overall, Hotel Del Monte struck the perfect balance between comfort, history, and a touch of playful spookiness. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Monterrey that has access to a military installation--especially if you're looking for more than just a hotel, but a memorable experience.

Our room had an odd smell to it, and the amenities are pretty minimal. However, we expected this due to the age of the building. Our only negative was that we were given the first room next to the entrance and stairwell, which was not fun to hear folks stomping up and down the stairs and slamming the doors. On Friday morning, several people we knew were awoken by the "active shooter drill" announcement at 8:00am. I understand this will happen on a naval academy base, but I wish we were warned about upon check-in just so we were aware and not startled in the morning.

While there are no designated parking spots, there are two spaces in front of every room, so parking is not an issue. 3) The heater/AC worked well, heating or cooling the room within minutes. However, the unit is loud while operating. The heater operates based on temperature. When our room was cold, we turn on heating and upped the temperature, so it was warm. But once the room reaches the same temperature as the heater temperature, it actually blows cold air instead of warm air. During our visit we had the pleasure to discover a highly talented artist by the name of Adrea, who has the most incredible voice and presence. We were so impressed by her and were very fortunate that she performed both nights of our visit. It was a performance we would have gladly paid to see, she is a rising talent for sure. I can't state how exceptional our experience was to enjoy the music in such an elevated atmosphere, relaxing by the fire, enjoying the outstanding craft cocktails by their highly talented mixologist. Schooners is not to be missed, the food is as outstanding as the ocean view! A special mention to the superior customer care provided by Pracha, a guest service manager at the hotel, who is an absolute star. And yes, the long review is a love letter to the Monterey Plaza Hotel, until next time!

The room charges are astronomical . We've stayed here…read moreseveral times and now it has become ridiculous . Prices quoted do not include taxes fees etc. Make sure you get total charges on your stay or you will be disappointed. Our total charges were 20% more than room rates.
