Roll up your sleeves, dive in to pull the flapper chain to flush. Staff were aware
    Jody R.

Pros: *   Great location, with close proximity to food and attractions.    *   Quiet environment, which is always a plus for getting rest.    *   Clean facilities.    *   Free parking, which is convenient and saves on extra costs. Cons: *   The food bar was poorly stocked, with old fruit and limited choices, indicating a lack of attention to freshness and variety.    *   Maintenance issues, like the toilet not flushing properly due to the handle not being attached to flapper chain. It's concerning that the desk staff was already aware of the issue but hadn't addressed it, which suggests a lack of care or attention to guest comfort. We had to remove the tank lid and flush by pulling the chain attached to the flapper. These kinds of problems, particularly when known issues go unresolved, can definitely affect the quality of a stay.

From my porcelain throne! This joint is noice so far!

Overall this was a great stay. Front desk did their job with no hassles. Big win in my book. No smell of reefer or loud noise through the walls which keeps their winning streak going. Somewhat difficult parking with our 1/2 ton, but that's our vacation truck, what're ya going to do?! They had a neat game room downstairs near the cafe area to lounge (see picture for cool aesthetics). The restrooms had gotten upgraded in just prior to 2021 so they were in good order. The only other gripe was that the elevator was operating beyond its permit expiration, but the pandemic could've played a part in that hold up for inspection and renewal. I give it a 4.49 stars and would stay here again!

Brought in the New Year in Monterey and the Hampton Inn had the best value for our 3 night stay. You tell the hotel was recently renovated. Very clean, quaint, and quiet. We had a "lakeview" room, the lake isn't a big attraction, but I guess it's better than looking at the parking lot. Hotel has a single elevator, it's pretty quick but that can delay getting to/from your room. The room was a great size. Had enough room for a sofa and a king size bed. The staff that checked us in was amazing too. The hotel was about 5 minutes from downtown and 10 min from the pier. Seems pretty remote when you're there; however, you aren't too far from anything. BONUS: they have EV charging.

    Clean Stay assurance (during Covid)
    Shiela T.

As far as cleanliness is concerned - I'd score 5 stars for being immaculate. And with the threat of covid - our room looked clean, felt clean, WAS clean. But, I'll admit, being overly paranoid I had to do some cleaning of my own just to make myself feel a little safer. 'No offense to housekeeping.' The noise was my big issue - or shall I say 'lack of sound proofing'. The first night my husband and I were watching TV in our room and we could hear the couple next door having an 'intimate moment'. No joke! Lol. It's not that the walls are thin; it's that the beds are loud. You can hear the rapidly repeating 'creeking' and 'squeeking' of the bed frame from our neighbors next door. Then there was the refrigerator in our room that would make a loud humming noise throughout the night. It was pretty bothersome. It was enough to wake me on both nights of our stay. Typically I have quite good experiences at Hampton Inns. This one is no exception. As mentioned, our room was clean. Location is convenient. Service is good. But noise wise - it could be improved.

A great base if you bring your own bike to explore Monterey. There is a bike path in front of the hotel. The path will connect you to everywhere. It will take you about 30minutes biking to Lover's Point. The path is flat and will take you to many hidden photo worthy spot. I'm going to review just the breakfast bar here. So, hot breakfast is included and it's a very good quality spread. You have different kind of sugary cereals, oatmeal and its fixing, scramble Eggs with sausage, fruits, waffles, muffins, bread, and...... smoothies. I have never been to a hotel that provides smoothies before. They said it's only chobani yoghurt, banana and Berries or mangoes. The kitchen helpers said she did not add any sugar, I chose to believe her.

    Kitchen area for our room
    Edward A.

Really impressed with this place. For the class of hotel our room was top notch. It doesn't look like much from the outside but our $150 room in the summer in the heart of Monterey was appreciated. Our suite had a bedroom, living area - like a great room with sofa and a second bed so this place could sleep 6. While the kitchen was only a mini fridge and microwave, it still had a dedicated space which added to the square footage. Beds were comfortable and room and interior of hotel was clean so I highly recommend this place if you're passing thru and watching your expenses.

The hotel offers a nightly happy hour and musical performances. During our visit we had the pleasure to discover a highly talented artist by the name of Adrea, who has the most incredible voice and presence. We were so impressed by her and were very fortunate that she performed both nights of our visit. It was a performance we would have gladly paid to see, she is a rising talent for sure. I can't state how exceptional our experience was to enjoy the music in such an elevated atmosphere, relaxing by the fire, enjoying the outstanding craft cocktails by their highly talented mixologist. Schooners is not to be missed, the food is as outstanding as the ocean view! A special mention to the superior customer care provided by Pracha, a guest service manager at the hotel, who is an absolute star. This was our second time staying in Monterey and I had been looking forward to staying at this hotel someday. It was everything I imagined and more! The service was exceptional from the valet to the bellhop to registration and restaurant staff. We are also IHG elite members and we were given a room upgrade with a thoughtful card and gift for our anniversary. Our room was facing the ocean on Cannery Row with a balcony. It was a very nice, spacious and clean room with alot of thoughtful attention like providing refillable water bottles, robes and an amazing Nespresso machine. There was also a wine bar and snacks available for purchase. The hotel had a wonderful scent throughout and we enjoyed walking through the ocean vibes staircase featuring a jellyfish. Definitely look for that! We loved having our anniversary dinner at The C Restaurant, but that will be another well earned review on it's own. However, we did have two negative experiences, one was that we waited a bit too long for our car at the valet once and there was an accidental spa charge on our receipt when checking out. I still gave them 5 stars because they rectified it right away and even removed the valet charge for us, which was much appreciated. I would love to come back to this hotel someday to bring my parents and we hope you love it too!!

I booked a Mother's Day getaway at InterContinental Clement in Monterey through Chase Travel and…read moreunfortunately it was a disappointing experience overall. The biggest issue started at check-in. I had specifically booked a double bed room with a fireplace, but upon arrival they only had a king room with a fireplace reserved for us (apparently anything through a third-party system was booking incorrectly, but I think that is on the hotel to resolve themselves). When I explained that we wanted double beds, they told us they only had a double room without the fireplace we originally booked. The room we ended up getting was a far walk from the elevators and overlooked the main street rather than the ocean, which did not feel worth the high nightly rate, especially after the reservation issue. I would have thought they would try to give us some upgrades (nicer room, nicer view) for the trouble. After my mom asked, they did comp one day of valet parking for the inconvenience but I honestly think they should have given more (and offered more to us in the first instance). I had very high expectations because I previously stayed at InterContinental Willard in DC in January for work and had an amazing experience. Even though that trip was not for a special occasion, the room included thoughtful touches like a handwritten card with artwork of the hotel, complimentary sparkling and still water, a large fruit bowl, and chocolate desserts waiting in the room. Willard also included a $20 daily dining credit and spa credit. Clement had none of these. At Clement, I had noted that we were celebrating Mother's Day and my mom's upcoming retirement, but there was nothing acknowledging the occasion. For the price we paid, the stay just did not feel special or luxurious. The amenities were also pretty underwhelming. The room itself was not noticeably larger or nicer than what you might expect from a standard 3-star hotel. While the hotel has been renovated, you can still see signs of age with rust around parts of the bathroom and sprinkler fixtures. While the location is convenient since it's walking distance to the aquarium, restaurants, and souvenir shops on Cannery Row, beware the surrounding area is heavily tourist-priced. Overall, this stay made me regret choosing Clement for such an important occasion. I don't think I would return, especially given the price point and the lack of attention to detail compared to other InterContinental hotels.

Toddler Notes for the Hotel: [[ Pro's ]] 1.) The room we got on the 3rd floor corner was very spacious and had a ton of room. We were able to set up a pack and play and still had a generous amount of room left to walk around. 2.) Blackout shades and see-through shades for double coverage which keeps the room nice and dark at night. 3.) Location is great as it's super close to Cannery Row, lots of restaurants, and Monterey Bay Aquarium which was our ultimate destination. 4.) Parking Garage is free and decently sized and can fit a mid-size SUV with no issues. It will get tighter if you have a humongous full-SUV though (see pictures). [[ Con's ]] 1.) So Many STAIRS. Like legitimately, there are so many stairs. I took a ton of pictures to give you an idea. Stairs coming down from the elevator, stairs between floors, etc. This is not very young kid friendly when you have a stroller, a bunch of kid items, etc. I'm not sure I would stay here again due to the amount of stairs and inconvenience. 2.) Noise Level - If your kid is sensitive to noise, be prepared to have a ton of sound machines because you really could hear a ton of things. Cars, honking, other people's rooms, etc. 3.) Shower - It did seem a bit rusty in certain places and our shower wouldn't drain so there was a big puddle the whole time we were showering. The steam also set off the fire alarm like another person mentioned. Quick conclusion - I think it's an okay IHG hotel but not very good for families with young kids. Good for the location though.

I would definitely stay here again if I wasn't looking to splurge and just wanted a room for the night.

And now, after nearly a month of waiting, calling, and emailing, the kindle was FINALLY mailed. My initial review still stands. What an incredibly disappointing and frustrating experience. "Disappointed" would be an understatement. Booked one night (using points) at this property and really wish we hadn't. Was charged a mystery $50 fee at check in. Then at checkout we asked what it was for, the guy working the front desk didn't have a clue and he tried to say he'd fix it "when the computers were working again." When we called his bluff by saying we'd come back in an hour, it was magically fixed. Shady! The room itself was meh... the floors were strangely sloped/didn't feel level. The real kicker here: there was no bedside table on my side of the bed (an inconvenience in itself), so my kindle was placed on the bed with me. I unfortunately forgot my kindle on the bed and didn't realize until we had checked out and were hours away. We called the hotel and were told they didn't find anything in the room. I know for a fact it was left in that room (I've double triple quadruple checked my luggage and there's no where else it could possibly be). Again, SHADY.

The rooms were clean, comfortable, and had a warm charm that made it easy to relax after a day of exploring the city. One of the highlights of our stay was how the hotel carried such a unique atmosphere and history. It wasn't just a place to sleep--it felt like part of the adventure. Between the ocean views, cozy spaces, and local touches, it really captured the spirit of Monterrey. And then there were the ghost stories. Whether you're a believer or just love a good tale, they add an extra layer of fun and mystery to the stay. If you're someone that believes (or not), go to the front desk and ask for the "book". It had 78 pages of first hand accounts of unexplained happenings from guests. We had a very small moment ourselves, while I was sharing what I uncovered about the ghosts with my significant other in the morning, suddenly the bathroom light just turned on. Nobody was around and they do run on sensors. Not a significant event but certainly was well timed. Overall, Hotel Del Monte struck the perfect balance between comfort, history, and a touch of playful spookiness. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone visiting Monterrey that has access to a military installation--especially if you're looking for more than just a hotel, but a memorable experience.
