I went by Central Texas today to buy some oil and a filter. I stood at the counter, imagining someone might say "hello" or "I'll be right with you" and got nothing for about eight minutes. There was one customer ahead of me and a guy concentrating on helping him. He saw me but didn't acknowledge that I had a product to purchase and seemed to be doing his best to ignore the fact that I was there. After another minute, I set the product back on the shelf and left. There are other options and I have no time for the poor attitude. Granted, I haven't been to Central Texas in a few years ever since Service kept my bike for almost two months (in spring) and waited for me to call to find out it was finally ready. Huge THANK YOU to WES LUNSFORD in the parts department! I've been a customer there for a few years, bought several bikes there. I purchased a bike from a different dealership because CENTEX Harley didn't have what I was looking for. After I purchased the bike, I'd ordered a custom exhaust from a vendor in mid February. The vendor has since ghosted me and I'd exhausted several options to communicate with them. I went to CENTEX Harley to look at different options for my exhaust pipe. Meeting Wes at the counter we got to talking and I told him about my dilemma. We discussed different options the Harley offered for Exaust pipes. He then took the incentive to reach out to this vendor on a live chat and discovered why my order was do delayed... I FINALLY had been so delayed.. I was basically being lied to about the delivery date. He was able to get this somewhat resolved pending the vendors follow through. This review leads me to this point. This is truly what customer service should be!! He has no skin in this matter, probably lost some $ by not making a sale to me today but went way above and beyond to help me, just some random customer who was being jerked around by a vendor. I'll tell you this, I'll go back and see Wes in the future for any parts I'll be getting, just a great and unexpected experience from a parts guy who really cares about what customer is. Service department is sub-par. The quality of the work and the customer service is poor at best. Making an appointment is a joke, as they still hang on to your bike all week. Then they get defensive when you question, " why do I make an appointment". The quality of work is also poor- twice they didn't put my pipes on evenly. Didn't return or put back on bolt covers and twice broke a plastic piece on the handle bar neck...and wanted me to pay for it. Return phone calls or communication... don't hold your breath. You call them and you get "I was just getting ready to call you" once..ok but every time.. it's BS. I had an idle control light come on and they couldn't "duplicate it"..I asked if they let the bike idle and the service guy said.....no, let me have them try that! It would have been funny if it was a joke.. but it wasn't! read more

After leaving the State and coming back, then a brief spat with Indian Motorcycles (just to remind myself what's out there) I decided it was time to stop wasting my time and money and just get a Harley again. Haven't been happier getting back on a Harley! During the time I was looking around and talking with sales rep, the lady switched out the new one with the display model behind my back. Unfortunately didn't find out til I got home. And these people have the audacity to sell $20K+ bikes and ask me if I brought my bike in for service? Yea - no. Go ahead and bring your bike in for an "oil change" or your interval service. After they gave me a "fair" offer, I went to their website just to see what they re-listed the bike for...they decided to re-sell it for a $6000 profit....wow! The process was a nightmare! This Harley shop sucks, this was my first time getting my bike worked on in Texas, the mechanic take no pride in their work. I took my bike in for a new clutch, they fixed my clutch but when I got my bike back the headlight was out and my rpm gauge was not working. They didnt notify me of the issue so when I came back they told me they forgot to plug the rpm gauge in on inspection and told me my headlight wire was bad. They lied because when I got a new headlight and I requested my old lamp back there was nothing wrong with the wire or anything. I will never spend my money on a mechanic especially when they can't fix a bike properly read more

First let me clarify that this review for Central Texas Harley-Davidson Round Rock location is for the music events they hold onsite only & not for the purchasing of a motorcycle...I'm at Harley for the music & Alcohol ;). I have to give props to CTHD because they know how to put on a great event for everyone to enjoy filled with live music, awesome motorcycle watching, yummy food, & drink & even give personal touches of having free popcorn & frozen non alcoholic drinks! I've been to many events held at CTHD & they are always so much fun & are even kid friendly! AND you don't even have to ride a motorcycle to enjoy these music events..just roll up with your car or truck :). I love that I can grab a drink, chill under the covered tent & just enjoy the live band..no pressure, just pleasure. At these events there is normally always a food truck & sometimes there is even free food offered to everyone who comes out. Just check the website for Central Texas Harley Davidson Round Rock to see what events are scheduled. With our Texas heat if it gets to hot for you just go inside & cool off in the AC, grab your free popcorn & walk around to look at all the awesome motorcycles or just chill in the little lounge inside CTHD. My husband stopped in here because we needed a gift card and he also wanted to look at motorcycle parts. We looked around for a minute before being asked if we needed help. My husband inquired about a cup holder for his bike. The employee was extremely helpful and showed him the right cup holder/mount for his bike that comes in either black or chrome. My husband decided on the black one and we paid for our purchases. My husband has looked multiple times for a cup holder at the south austin location without any luck. To me, I thought the part was quite expensive but anything Harley is to be quite honest. The dealership overall was quite larger and had sign saying they will be open on Sundays now. read more

1st off I do like the bike and appreciated the folks in the accessories dept tremendously, and they get 5 stars. But as far as the honesty and reliability of the sales staff themselves I'm truly ticked. I "thought" I was getting such a great deal when they "deducted" the $600 dealer assembly/set up charge, when in reality they did absolutely zilch to do anything to this bike besides being sure the battery was charged and the gas tank was wiped off. After delivery and a few days I decided to just do a quick go over "knowing" that they changed the oil and filter, air filter, plugs, wires, etc....I was totally wrong.....The plugs were original ( this is a 2008 mind you ) and took lotsa oomph and liquid wrench to get them out, the wires were pretty dried up and cracking, the air filter was totally caked up in soot and dirt ( as well as the whole inside of the housing ) , the tires that require 41lbs of air in them had 22.5 and 26 respectively front to back, the wheels were cruddy, etc........Anyhow, just needed to get this off my chest and express my displeasure over the situation, especially after feeling so dang thrilled that they took off that $600 that goes on every used bike they sell..When in reality they did nothing prior to selling it to me..And I'm sure the oil has been in there for 10k miles but guess I'll have to wait until I take it in for the doggone maintenance plan they talked me into getting as well. ( yep I'm a sucker I figure )..So honestly feel kinda stabbed in the back as a 59yr old former Marine who should have known better, but I haven't purchased a bike in 20 years and just "assumed" since I bought my 1st Harley from these guys in 1983 when on Burnet Road that I could trust 'em...Again, I love the bike (( scared that there could be other things wrong that I'm not aware of because they VERY apparently didn't check things out)) and will just keep tightening loose nuts and bolts and pray to the Good Lord that it hangs in there until I get it in for the maintenance thing. Every Harley dealership I've been to in the country always worked on my big metric bikes as well. Even in north Texas. This place refused service, sent me to a ride now that they also own. Called them to service my daily ride, a 2006 Yamaha Stratoliner. They told me they don't mess with older bikes?????? My bike runs!!! Just need brakes and a tune up!!! I have purchased 2 motorcycles from CTHD over a period of about 7 years. I really hate purchasing vehicles from dealers. Just the sales pressure, the back & forth of negotiating price, etc. My first bike was a new motorcycle. The pressure was greater back then to get all the warranties. They have a few. Eventually I sold it, and returned a month ago to buy a used bike. My salesman, Gunny, was pretty awesome. Not pushy, down to earth dude. I got along really well with him. Then the negotiating began with the next guy. Surprisingly, it went pretty well. They worked with me quite a bit to fit my budget. He wasn't pushy at all & we got along really well. I wish I could remember his name. The bike didn't have a manual, so they ordered 1 for me for FREE, along with a couple extra keys, which I wasn't expecting!! Like most other Harley dealers, the post-sale relationship is strong. They try to keep you involved. They try their best to make you feel like you've joined the Harley family, & for the most part, you kind of have! Regular bike nights at the dealership, BBQ's, lots of events. I have received quite a few text messages from my salesman making sure all is going well with my new bike. After the 3rd message I quit responding. Haha Seems like they have been working on an easier more comfortable buying experience. Smart move. My 2nd experience here was much much better!! read more

Decent Sales, Terrible Service I purchased a 2014 Fat Bob through the buyer-to-buyer program here a few months ago. I was approved to finance from Harley fairly quickly and easily. The person who facilitated the sale / transfer had just returned from a vacation and his attitude was all but helpful. He seemed bothered by the fact he had to do the paperwork and help with this process. Obviously he would prefer to sell me a bike from the dealership, and he didn't hide that fact AT.ALL. With that being said, he did help and I did buy the bike and the process worked. So you get a star. They went over the bike (or claimed to) but the front master brake cylinder apparently spring a leak and needed to be rebuilt within the first couple of weeks of buying the bike. Luckily, the guy who sold it to me, included an extended warranty with it. Took the bike in and was quoted next day for repair but it ended up taking a few more. (not a big deal, but still) Went to pickup the bike and they told me the battery died during repair and wanted to sell me a new one. I told them I would bring my own as the Harley tax is not something I'm willing to pay. Definitely not willing to pay an additional 30 dollars for a half hour of labor (the battery install takes less than 5 minutes.) I bought my own battery and had them roll the bike out into the parking lot so I could install it. Once I did this, they would not test ride it to ensure the brake cylinder was functional, so I had to take their word for it. The bike was not washed (like promised) and the service trainee (already angry and jaded about his new job?) was, well, rude. In the end, I would would suggest a longer trip to Cowboy. They are a bit more friendly overall. To be honest, no Harley service section is really friendly.. for the most part they all act like they have something better to be doing than helping you, but Central Texas was definitely the worst I've been do. Last point. When I point out the bike wasn't washed, offer to make it right and wash it as you offered to do before the repair was started. Don't send me away pissed because that's how you get reviews like this. read more

As far as HD dealers go, this place is ok. I have been to better and I have been to worse. Great customer service from a sales perspective in clothing and parts. The sales staff is good about not talking down to new folks and sending people in the best direction . We have bought two bikes from them. Overall both were good experiences. Communications post sale could be a little better for resolving problems here and there but I would not hesitate to buy another bike here. When it comes to parts and "motorclothes" they sell at MSRP but if you sign up for the VIP Mobile Club (the send you text messages from time to time) they routinely have sales for 25-50% off different types of items. Now, when it comes to service, CTHD should not be your first choice. While they are competent, their prices are very high. If you want to use an actual HD dealership in the Austin area, Cowboy is cheaper for services. Otherwise, use a local indie shop or do it yourself. Also, submitted a request to update address and contact info several weeks ago but still not showing up. CTHD moved quite a while ago to Round Rock. 2801 N. Any Harley dealership = $$$$. HD = hundred dollars for anything and everything. I wasn't impressed today when I had to call over and over to get some answers on my wife's purple 883. I'm still waiting for the answers as a matter of fact. I called to inquire about the VIP package Jenny had purchased along with a 2002 slammed Sportster. Each time I called, I was transfered to an extension that the mailbox was full. I made these calls over a 3 hour period with no luck. Service, I think not. I will give them the benefit that its their Monday (closed) as they are open weekends; but thinking that my wife spent an extra $2000 on some kind of extended warranty plan with first in line privileges...I can't even get thru to the department I need. The receptionist said "I have already made them aware of the mailbox issue". There was some question over the time period of the VIP package so she transfered me to Greg the finance guy; only to be cut off by the automated phone system. So I say get your act together CTHD! So many cell airtime minutes wasted this morning on a simple question whether I can get Jenny's bike in for some much needed TLC. read more

Awful customer service. We actually live about 3 miles away and after the last few experiences have decided to drive all the way to cowboy down south. I tried buying my hubby a new windscreen for his bike. The guy ignored me for as as he could and then convinced me not to buy anything. Next we go into look for a bike for me. No one bothers to help us. We end up leaving. Last time: hubby orders new tires for his Street glide. Makes an appointment, brings the bike in and is told that it will be ready that day. We call about 24 hours later realizing no one ever called to let us know the bike was ready. Bike has been ready since the day before. No one called because the bike washer guy didn't come into work. They didn't do the install correctly either. Get your shit together guys. You are losing business here. I will be buying my bike from cowboy. read more
