Dave has worked on my Honda lawn mower a couple times now. He is simply amazing, and you should definitely give him a call on any small engine problems. First time he resolved a surging issue with a clever fix which was reasonably priced. More recently my lawn mower wouldn't start up. Not only did he take my call after hours on a Saturday afternoon, but he also waited half an hour for me to drop off the lawn mower. Turns out, the carburetor needed to be replaced. By Sunday noon he was done with the repair, and I was able to mow my lawn Sunday afternoon. The engine started right up and ran smooth like new. He also tuned it to run a little faster, which I really like. Had a simple residential mower that had general carb maintenance conducted by another shop. Mower went down again with the same issues. Other shop closed so I found Dave's Cycle & Small Engine. Dave helped me unload the mower and immediately listened to my issues. While I was there he took the mower outside and cranked it up. Once again, not working. He dumped the fuel and low and behold, bad gas. But then he looked under the deck at the blade and realized the blade was bent. A slow pull on the starter rope showed the shaft was bent and had caused more issues internally. He recommended the mower be replaced and it was not worth spending money on it. He showed me used mowers in his shop at a variety of prices and features. At no time did he try to over sell me on anything. He was completely informative on everything! I had no second thoughts on purchasing a used mower from him. The details he spoke with about mowers and the proper care for them was enough for me to know this man knows his stuff!! I found Dave on Yelp, and he lives up to his high Yelp ratings IRL. I had an older mower that I couldn't get running, and it turned out it needed a new carburetor, but because it was out of production there were no replacement carburetors available. Instead of telling me that I was going to have to trash this one and buy a new one, Dave fabricated a new one for me, and it now runs as good as new. Dave has "old school" repair and metal fabrication skills, and definitely knows what he's doing. He's going to be my go-to guy for all my lawnmower and small engine repairs from now on.
