I said fine because that's what I've always used. Thought balancing was included and he didn't quote me any more cost - picked up my rim and tire and was charged a $50 bill ...$17 for a couple of tablespoons of beads ? needless to say I feel that's really screwed up ! I should of been told of the price difference... Hell I had beads at home ... I'm still walking funny from my experience there ... very sad ... seemed like a nice guy . Worked on my '82 Suzuki GS450-- a bike so old that most shops wouldn't even look at (or did look at, and charged me a fortune to do a lousy job on it). His work was spot-on, his prices are fair, and his turnaround was quick. I would recommend him to anyone with an older motorbike that needs some TLC. Plus, Greg's a genuinely nice guy, and that means a lot when so many mechanics out there these days tend to treat women (and men -- some jerks don't discriminate I guess) as if they're idiots who wouldn't know a gasket from a gearbox.

update : after finally getting my car back and getting it inspected only to find out after 2800$ in…read morerepairs to the transmission, front end assembly and o2 sensor replacement.. oddly enough it still needs 3k more work to the front end, transmission and brakes .. not only were parts left OUT of my front end when it was reassembled the transmission tie was shortened from the standard 7" inches to 2" .. a good solid bump and my transmission would have dropped. In addition to all of that, the swing arms on both my front passenger and drivers side wheel hubs were left unbolted both top and bottom. SO after sitting with the windows down on his lot for close to a year and near 3 grand paid my durango is worse off than it was before. thankfully I took it directly to get it inspected after I got it and they told me to run it to a nearby mechanic to find out what the banging noise was on the front end .. the banging noise also turned out to be the swing arm from the mount to the rack n pinion banging into the brake drum because it was left unbolted. so not only did I lose 3 grand, my one and only vehicle available to me is undriveable .. now it sits in my driveway to rot while I come up with MORE money to repair this assholes lack of ability to repair a vehicle in a timely manner, effectively, without error .. sure he is a chum when you give him money but I suggest looking elsewhere for reliable service.. 1 star. take it elsewhere.. I feel terrible for the Automotive Place he shares garage space with as eventually people will stop taking their vehicles to him as a response to Mr Boatwrights ineffective automotive ability.

I took it to platinum motorcycles and discussed options with them over e-mail. They had great ideas on how to bring it back to life. In the end, we went with a new cobalt paint and re-chrome. They even did a little Texas custom logo on my air cleaner. Man, the work is awesome! Tore it down and put it back together again. I can't believe it's the same bike. They were super thorough, very knowledgeable and really friendly throughout the whole deal. I give them wholeheartedly 5-stars. Their prices were great and work was top notch. And all this over e-mail mind you. I've never met nor talked with them once. Final note that this was over the COVID-19 period. That's the sign of a great shop doing great work.

I went by Central Texas today to buy some oil and a filter. I stood at the counter, imagining…read moresomeone might say "hello" or "I'll be right with you" and got nothing for about eight minutes. There was one customer ahead of me and a guy concentrating on helping him. He saw me but didn't acknowledge that I had a product to purchase and seemed to be doing his best to ignore the fact that I was there. After another minute, I set the product back on the shelf and left. There are other options and I have no time for the poor attitude. Granted, I haven't been to Central Texas in a few years ever since Service kept my bike for almost two months (in spring) and waited for me to call to find out it was finally ready. Today was just a confirmation of what I already knew. Central Texas is a terribly run business. Back to Cowboy for me.

Service department is sub-par. The quality of the work and the customer service is poor at best…read more Making an appointment is a joke, as they still hang on to your bike all week. Then they get defensive when you question, " why do I make an appointment". The quality of work is also poor- twice they didn't put my pipes on evenly. Didn't return or put back on bolt covers and twice broke a plastic piece on the handle bar neck...and wanted me to pay for it. Return phone calls or communication... don't hold your breath. You call them and you get "I was just getting ready to call you" once..ok but every time.. it's BS. I had an idle control light come on and they couldn't "duplicate it"..I asked if they let the bike idle and the service guy said.....no, let me have them try that! It would have been funny if it was a joke.. but it wasn't!
