I am the original owner of a 1972 Honda 750K2. Had it restored in Virginia over 10 years ago. Used to take it to a different shop, but eventually they refused to work on it for anything other than easy tune-ups. Had an oil leak at the cylinder head. Finally found Rathbone a couple of years ago. Trevor and the crew were able to diagnose the issue and told me what had to happen (engine had to come out to fix the seals in the head). Ordered a complete seal kit and replaced all the seals in the engine, cleaned and adjusted the carbs, tuned, etc. Great work. The bike has run like a watch. Incompetant idiots! If you need anything beyond a tire change or a light bulb, take your bike anywhere but Rathbone. Beware of a shop that has 'by appointment only'. This place is sketchy at best and don't plan on a quick turnaround. Once they have your bike, you will wait months to get it back only to find out they didn't fix the issue and hand you a ridiculously huge $$$$bill! read more

If you're in doubt of where to take your motorcycle, go to Rathbone. To start, I'm not motorcycle nor mechanically inclined. I bought an older Honda off Craigslist without really understanding what I was getting myself into (mistake 1). The day I bought it, things were great, but was warned of a few of the quirks of the bike, but figured no big deal. Fast forward a couple of days, I go out to start the bike, and it simply won't start. I jumped on Yelp and found the place closest to my house and figured that was a good place (mistake 2), so I took it there. Fast forward 3 months, no work had been done. Enter Rathbone. I got on the phone with Trevor and he spent more time talking to me without seeing my bike than the other shop did within three month. He took time to understand all the caveats I was throwing at him, and gave me tons of suggestions, was super friendly and most importantly didn't overload me with information that was way over my head. I took the bike into Rathbone the next day, and within a week Trevor called me back and had the bike running again. The price he quoted me the day I took it in was what he charged, and then offered to do a few more things to the bike that would be nice to haves. He quoted me the exact price again, and within reasonable amount of time, I had the bike running back in my hands. I even off hand mentioned trying to sell my bike, and Trevor was kind enough to point me in the direction of multiple people who were potentially interested. Long story short, go to Rathbone. He does quality work, efficiently, at the price he quotes. Trevor and Matt are a class act. I brought my 2009 Harley FXD to their shop last weekend for a general tuneup and oil change. I hadn't ridden it in a while so I was looking for their expertise and they did an amazing job (they also changed spark plugs once they had the bike opened up). Trevor and the crew took very good care of my bike purchased from Salt Lake City! I needed new jets for due to the difference in altitude and they got me all sorted out for riding around here in Austin. She runs great now!! Rathbone does it right. I thought small-shop motorcycle repair was a dead industry in Austin 20 yrs ago, but Trevor and crew are the real deal. Old school wrench shed, no BS, and better customer service than I've had in $50 entre restaurants. I brought them a 20 yr old POS bike I didn't even own and they unscrewed it like a methadone clinic. I've owned a 1980 Yamaha xs650 for about 2 years. I had a few other local shops get her up to speed right after I bought it from someone who hauled a bunch of finds from rural Indiana. Shortly after, I was given Trevor's number from a friend of a friend after my bike stalled on 969 back from Elgin. It was late afternoon on a weekend, but Trevor still offered to pick up the bike and drop me off at a nearby coffee shop to get a ride home. Since then, Trevor has been my go-to guy. He is very personable and always takes the time to walk me through what he's done and explain why. He is more than fair when it comes to pricing. Trevor is a nice guy but... On the way home from the repair shop my bike stopped running and I had to push it home. Since he had replaced the carb slide I though it was probably just a carb adjustment that I could fix at home. Nope, the carb slide was the wrong one, and the timing was way off as a result of the repair. At this point the bike was unridable. He didn't know this?!?! Took the bike to another shop to get the timing set and get the carb checked...got that done now bike runs but will not idle. Seems engine is leaking air from the seal that was meant to be repaired from first job. I checked the seal that was replaced and it looks like it was removed/pried with a screw driver. Seal should have been pressed out so not to damage the metal plate it sits in. Damaging the plate can cause a leak, as noted in the repair manual I lent for the first repair. Have now ordered a new plate and seal. Also, I wanted the steering bearings checked and replaced if necessary. That was not done but second repair shop was able to adjust the bearings in just a few minutes. The bike ran great before Trevor got to it. All I wanted was the oil leak fixed now the bike is unridable! I paid $380.00...what a mistake. Now I'm out that plus what its going to take to fix it. read more

He also made sure that he explained every single thing he looked at (and why) and showed me some features on the bike that I didn't even know about without being patronizing. I needed a new front tire, which he ordered and then installed the very next day and he pointed me to the nearest inspection station and helped me sort out the title situation for the bike. Trevor helped look over my first bike (2005 yamaha fz6) and gave me confidence it was in safe, working order. I have been going back to him ever since for various repairs and services and his service has been consistent. He is extremely friendly, responsive, accommodating, and helpful and does his best to save you money where he can. To give you an example, he immediately responded and offered to give me a tow, in the event I was stranded, when I mentioned my front wheel had acquired a tear.
