I honestly never make it over to this side of town but this tea house has now been added to one of my top 3 favorites in the Charlotte area. After looking over the menu for some time, I decided to go with the Beach Bum tea that came with jelly lychee. This was the best drink. So fresh and flavorful. Their pricing is really great too. I had a singing engagement yesterday, 11-25-23, and it was chilly. I had a short break and wanted something warm. Thought it was too late in the afternoon for the caffeine in coffee. The cashier helped me decide on the hot honey jasmine green tea. It seemed to taste better with each sip. I also ordered the toasted pork pate so. It was a little too hot to eat at first, but I started nibbling on my way back to my destination. Flaky croissant; it was very good, especially because I was hungry. I also ordered a strawberry tea cake for after the engagement. Would definitely return for the green tea & pate so. I asked if there was a restroom available while waiting for my pate so. A gentleman told me where it was and gave me the code more than once for the door. The bathroom was clean and had plenty of soap. This is a small and cute cafe in a shopping plaza towards the older side of Plaza Midwood. I ordered the Bulgogi banh mi with no cilantro and it was tasty! The beef was cooked and then doused with bulgogi sauce as it was evident it was not marinaded in it... so obviously don't order the Korean fusion banh mi if you want something authentic! There was real kimchi on it too so I was pleased with that. I also got the mango peach green tea with mango jelly and that was delicious!! There are tons of tea flavors and options to choose from. There is limited seating in this tea house so don't expect to fit a group or work with your laptop and lots of books. However, the staff is super friendly and everything is clean and tidy. I was finally able to check out this little tea house on Central Avenue... and expected, it has a good, solid menu of Milk Teas, Coffees, Lattes, Smoothies, Slushies and Juice, as well as snack foods, sandwiches, and more. The place is very small, but cute and seemingly clean...and the service is friendly. Also, the staff was wearing a mask...and all precautionary signs on the door. I just stopped in to get a Bubble Tea to go, and decided to try their Thai Iced Tea w/ Bubbles. It tasted a bit thin...much lighter than most Thai Teas I've had...less sweet. I ordered a brown sugar boba and it was so good I forgot to take a photo. The service was very fast, I received my two drinks within a couple minutes. As a big boba fan, I was pretty disappointed with the drink I got :( I ordered the strawberry kiwi black tea and to be honest, it tasted super artificial and more like cough syrup than fruit tea. As a boba fan, I've been to many boba shops, and Central Tea House's boba pearls are great - not too hard as some other shops have it. I've had their Central and oolong teas, which are standard - not like one of those premium fresh milk tea places, but still delightful (esp. the Oolong brings back sweet childhood memories) I'm interested in seeing how their food tastes and will have to try their calamari and sandwiches next time I go. The shop itself is very small and has little seating, but I appreciate that it is located right next to a Vietnamese restaurant since the shop is technically Vietnamese as well. I'm also impressed they have some original flavors like durian and papaya - something for everyone whether you're ready to indulge in some authentic Asian flavors or stick to the standard simple ones :) read more

Love supporting local businesses! This place is a small and cozy boba tea shop that also has Vietnamese foods/snacks! The owner (or I think he's the owner) is always super patient, kind, and welcoming when we come in. I got the black milk tea and because of the ice I felt like the flavor was diluted but I could still taste the tea flavor, which I liked. I got the wintermelon milk tea to go for my friend and got no ice and the flavor of the milk, tea, and wintermelon was still super prominent so I'd probably do that again for myself next time. Charlotte, in my opinion, has one outstanding Banh Mi spot that, similar to Nirvana, is probably the best you'll ever have. That place, however, is oftentimes closed for two to three months while the owners go back to Vietnam to visit, leaving a large part of the year where I have a void in my heart (and my stomach) for a good banh mi. Central Tea House is now filling that need. The Banh Mi Dac Biet (house special) is delicious at Central Tea House and doesn't suffer from many of the same shortcomings as other Banh Mi spots. The bread is toasted perfectly, the meat has excellent flavor, and the vegetables aren't overly-soaked in brine. The one criticism I have is that I'm not a fan of the cucumber that comes with by default, but by ordering without the cucumber I've greatly improved my experience with the sandwiches. The Thai Tea is absolutely delicious, the boba's cooked well and the sizes are very generous (a large is actually a large, which can sometimes be rare in tea-houses). I'm a huge fan of this spot and will definitely continue to do business, both when my favorite place is open and when it's closed. read more

Cute shop. I've been twice since they opened and the service has been friendly and fast both times. Haven't tried the Banh Mi Sandwiches or pastries yet, just drinks. Good options of Milk Teas, Sea Salt Drinks, Fresh Teas, Fruit Teas, Coffees, Smoothies. You can add bubbles or jelly toppings and customize your sweetness level. (25%, 50%, 75%, 100%) I've tried the Taro Milk Tea, Oolong Tea, Taro Smoothie and Honey Tea. All delicious! The Taro doesn't taste powdery like it does at some places. The most recent time I got three drinks, two with 1 topping and my total was $13. ($4 per drink and .50 cent per topping) I did 4 stars because you don't get much topping when you add it. I thought they forgot my jellies when I got my drink because I didn't see any - but there was just barely any jelly in there. (If you reference photos - the Taro Milk I ordered Grass Jelly, Oolong - Aloe Vera, you can barely see any jelly's!' They have board games to play if you plan on hanging out. My love for a good banh mi is real and Central Tea House hits all the way home. The bread is perfection. I have tried the Lemongrass Chicken and the grilled pork, both equally as delicious.
