I tagged along with my husband on a business trip to Charlotte. Anytime I'm in a new city, discovering local coffee places to get my morning coffee is a must. During my Google search I discover My Story Cafe through an article about the owners journey. Being a Caribbean girl myself, I had to go support this Trinidadian, Black, Woman owned business. So I decided I'd use my morning walk which ended up being about 3/4 of a mile to walk to My Story from my hotel. Thankfully it was a nice walk as it wasn't too hot while I was there. My first two days I ordered the an iced French toast latte. The third day I ordered the iced Vietnamese coffee as Ms Jacqueline's recommendation. I was skeptical as I've previously had Vietnamese iced coffees that were overly sweet but hers was velvety, smooth, and balanced. I understood the hype but I info recommend the French toast latte as well! Ms Jacqueline and I connected over those three days, we shared laughs, talked community and our beloved islands as well as all things food! I got to see first hand her connection with locals, the way she builds community and works hard as just one person running the show. We're family now, and anytime I'm Back in Charlotte my first stop will be to go visit my new auntie! Be patient, she gets busy. But the coffee and conversation is worth it. I almost walked right past this cafe. It's right beside the back entrance of Latta Arcade but I don't think there's a hanging sign. I only had one customer ahead of me so the wait was minimal. The owner was nice, and she co-signed my choice for the taro lavender - said it was delicious. It was! I subbed almond milk for $1 and added blueberry popping boba. It almost tasted like cereal milk, I enjoyed it. Prices are high, almost $12 for my drink ... similar to other boba/tea stores unfortunately. I'd return and try the teas. So I actually stumbled across this cafe while I was waiting to eat somewhere else around the corner. We were greeted with a warm welcome and smile. I wasn't sure what I wanted so they suggested the Vietnamese Iced Coffee. Which was a little under $8. Strong flavor of hazelnut which really isn't my go to but this was still such a treat! The space itself is as welcoming as the owner. Not to mention there are books around for you to check out while you are there. Can't wait to try something else on the menu. read more

Very friendly lady at the counter! I was in Charlotte for work and wanted a bubble tea. This place was close so I decided to give it a try. I had the lychee fruit tea which comes with cut up fresh fruit and you can add boba. The amount of boba included was very small, but the tea was very good. If I come back to town and want more tea I will have to remember to ask for extra boba! read more

Beautiful Black Owned Coffee Shop! I asked her what should I get and she whipped up the most decadent Vietnamese iced coffee I've had and I know coffee being that I'm a Seattle girl. There is a trailing plant that she has had for 4 years and it gave the place character just like the owner! Service was excellent. Will be returning! read more

My Story Cafe is a "must stop" spot any time I am in Charlotte. I stumbled upon MSC when exploring the uptown area during the summer of 2023 and still dream about their Vietnamese coffee. Best $8 I'll ever spend. This morning I stopped in on my way out of town and they were sold out of VC so I tried the Cuban espresso on a whim and was blown away. Def check out this new spot(previously Tea Fusion Uptown) but was bought over by someone new. My bf and I loved the vibes here and would def go back! The drinks were so yummy and tasted very fresh. The lady told us she's from Trinidad and she was very friendly. She told us there were games under the chair to play and showed us the library of books section she was working on. Great place to sit and chat & sip on something refreshing. We got the Sorrel house speciality(burgundy drink in the picture) and Lycee milk tea + Crystal boba (white cup). They both tasted very good! Worst boba I have ever had in my life. Avoid this place, especially at $7.50, $8.50 if you add boba, definitely not worth it. The boba has an awful taste. Tastes like they have been soaked in plain water, not sweet at all. Definitely not prepared correctly. The drinks come in very cheap cups. They feel like a water cup. My friend and I came here and we were both upset with our drinks. We spoke with other friends who came here and they also agreed their drinks tasted off. Save yourself the money and do not waste your time. Big let down! I'm from Atlanta and I know my boba spots. This place will not last. read more

Came in here for dessert after getting lunch at another restaurant here in Latta Arcade. Attempted ordering two other milk tea flavors but they were out. I ended up settling with the Thai tea flavor. Mr. Partner got green apple milk. He wanted the rainbow jelly but they were also out of that so he settled on clear boba. The owner is super sweet & passionate about her store & makes my smoothies with lots of love. Ambiance is perfect for getting some work done in a homey feel shop. You don't want to miss this wonderful gem, snuggled deep in the French Quarters in Uptown Charlotte. My friend and I were looking for a "coffee experience " and we got it. From the time we entered to when we received our drinks, it was service with warmth and a smile. The owner, Jackie, sat down and engaged us in delightful conversation, which made the time there, even more memorable. I had the French toast latte, Yum! This place seems to be perpetually closed, but last Saturday I actually saw that they were open so we went inside, intending to order some bubble tea. When we entered, the person behind the counter gave me a very blank, unwelcoming stare and didn't bother saying "hello." It seems he didn't have any interest in taking our order, or doing his job, so we left.
