    Gotcha Matcha Latte
    Neha G.

Looking for matcha? This may be the only place around downtown that serves a variety of matcha drinks and ube dessert. A ordered the Gotcha Matcha latte with skim milk. A little sweeter than expected, but decent drink. Thought it was a bit pricey at almost $9 for a small matcha latte. Located inside of a Wells Fargo Tower. There is minimal seating inside but if you wander outside you'll see more tables. No restrooms. There is a rewards program if you sign up with phone number. Staff was friendly. I'll have to come back to try the Ube Cinnamon Roll!

I am a HUGE fan of anything that involves authentic matcha. When I saw signs outside pointing toward a corporate looking building that said "Gotcha Matcha", I knew I had to follow. The matcha here is authentic. I will say, my latte was on the sweeter side. In order to really taste the matcha, I'll ask for less sweet next time I'm in town. Cute cafe inside a big building. They also have some pastries like ube cinnamon rolls

I can't say I'm much for matcha, but I do enjoy a good latte and you can get an excellent one here. They are located inside an office building that is currently undergoing some construction/facelift. Don't let the construction stop you from poking your head inside and finding this cute little spot. They have some fun latte flavors like Dubai chocolate and snickerdoodle. The baristas are friendly, and it's a little pricy but I don't mind paying a bit extra to local over a chain. Overall it's a solid option for those Uptown work coffee breaks.

If you're looking for authentic matcha, this is the place. The quality and flavor is well worth a visit to uptown. So good!!!

Legit cà phê sửa đa (Vietnamese iced coffee). Went to another coffee shop yesterday for the Vietnamese iced coffee and was very disappointed.

Gotcha matcha does matcha right. It has the standard selection and also some flavored option. I tried the pandan and it was very unique. I also tried the coconut water apricot and tamarind refresher. Such a creative combo and quite unique also. Friendly. Indoor seating. Casual. Please come and create your own adventure.

Let me start by saying that I DO NOT like matcha. I am a big tea drinker, but for some reason I have never been a fan of matcha. With that being said, I first tasted Gotcha Matcha at a Yelp Elite event. And I kept going back for samples. I promised myself that I would check out their actual location. While it took me wayyy too long, I finally made good on that promise. My daughter is a big matcha fan, so I brought her with me. We lucked out and found a parking spot on the street near the building. Although it's located inside another building, there is plenty of signage to help direct the way. When we arrived, there were a few people enjoying drinks already at the little cafe tables. There was one young lady taking orders and making the drinks. My daughter wanted the strawberry cheesecake but they were out of one of the syrups needed. So she had a plain strawberry. I ordered the Pina colada. We both got medium sizes. My drink definitely tasted just like Pina Colada! It took me awhile to drink the whole thing. I would probably just get a small next time. But for the first time ever, I drank an entire cup of matcha (and enjoyed it)! Before I left, I made sure to grab a selfie in the cute mirror on the wall.

In Charlotte visiting and stumbled on this gem. I tried matcha once before and wasn't a fan. I decided to try it again here and loved it. I actually ended up getting one to go as well so I could refrigerate it and have it the next morning. Highly recommend this spot! Plus the owner was working the corner while we were there and his customer service was great! Definitely a coffee shop I would tell anyone to go to for coffee and matcha drinks. This place was awesome!

Gotcha Matcha & Espresso is a cute lil cafe inside of a main office buidling. I was in Charlotte for a quick trip a few months back and, of course, I had to get my matcha fix. After a quick search on Yelp, we found Gotcha! Eric was the barista and he was a burst of energy right from the moment we walked in! HE was bubbly and super helpful when trying to decide what to get from their variety on the menu. We ended up getting The Panda (pandan matcha) and To the Yams (ube matcha), plus couldn't resist the ube cinnamon roll. The drinks were cute and The Panda even had a cute matcha art atop it. The cinnamon roll was pretty good but came out super late. It ended up being ready and nobody remembered to give it to us. After we were waiting for a bit, we asked if they had it and were confused but found it after some time to give to us. The space itself is cute but on the smaller side, being just a small cafe inside of a building. Overall, a cute spot to grab a matcha if you're near.

Yerba matte was great Matcha was delicious

Very fast service. Great knowledge and recommendation. It is inside of an office building so you would have to look for it specifically but great drinks!

I recently got into matcha. The flavors at Gotcha Matcha are amazing. Also, the taste of the matcha lattes is delicious. 10/10 recommend for me. I tried the Dubai White Chocolate, and it had all the notes of pistachio and white chocolate. I also tried the Ube cinnamon roll. 10/10! If you can stop by here, definitely make it happen. The staff is super friendly and you might see someone with the panda head.

The flavors at Gotcha Matcha are unmatched. Eric, the owner, takes special care to make sure that he serves customers with quality beverages and tasty pandan and ube treats. My favorite? The Biscoff Matcha latte -- it's not on the menu, but it is on the menu, if you catch my drift. And I love that he keeps it around for customers who've been following his moves around town. Speaking of moves: I love the new location in Uptown. It's perfect with nice space to enjoy drinks inside or in the corridor leading inside. He just told me he has decaf espresso which excites me because I can't wait to try the Ubesso next!

Review for Amélie's French Bakery & Café…read more As a transplant from the West Coast--specifically San Francisco, where high-quality bakeries and true French pâtisseries are plentiful--I was genuinely excited to try Amélie's after moving to Charlotte. Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing, and after giving it more than one chance, it's simply not a place I plan to return to. The concept feels more like a themed destination than a serious bakery. The interior is whimsical and eye-catching, with decorative elements like a faux Eiffel Tower, which clearly appeals to visitors looking for a fun atmosphere. However, if you've spent time in authentic French cafés or bistros, you know the real charm is understated elegance--wood, mirrors, tile, and craftsmanship. This felt more theatrical than authentic. Where it fell short for me was the food. For a place calling itself a French bakery and pâtisserie, the absence of classic laminated pastries was surprising. I was expecting staples like Napoleons, kouign-amann, or beautifully executed croissants. What I found instead were pastries that looked average and lacked the refinement and technique you'd expect from a true pâtisserie. On my visits, I tried: * A leek soup that was supposed to be cream-based but tasted thin and under-seasoned--more like warm vegetable water than a properly developed soup. * A baguette sandwich with fig, Brie, and apple that sounded promising but was poorly executed. The bread was overly hard, and the balance of ingredients felt off, making the sandwich less enjoyable than expected. I gave Amélie's two chances, hoping the second visit would change my impression. It didn't. To be fair, the café clearly has a loyal following and works well as a social or casual gathering spot. But if you're specifically looking for high-quality French pastries or refined bakery craftsmanship, there are stronger options in the Charlotte area. Personally, I'd recommend: * Renaissance Patisserie for more traditional European-style pastries * Paris Baguette at Rea Farms for consistency and better execution * Or trusted local favorites closer to home Bottom line: Fun atmosphere, but the food didn't meet expectations for a French bakery. After multiple visits, it's a pass for me.

Also, I initially wanted the drink with light ice and this was my first encounter at a shop that charges extra for light ice (45 cents). Not a huge deal and I understand that companies incur more costs for light ice or no ice. Maybe I could justify the additional charge for getting the drink without ice, but I still wanted ice---just not a lot of it. I just would've like to have been told about it or seen some signage about the additional charge since the toppings and other add ons are listed out. I could've missed where it was listed out, but I don't think I saw anything written out. Nonetheless, after a few healthy gulps, I was sad that the drink was gone. I would come back to try other items.
