We always enjoy central standard. This place seems to always be on some kind of wait in the evenings/weekend, but it's to be expected. We can usually always find a spot at the bar while we wait! The bartenders are friendly and are recognizable (nice to see familiar faces!) The food is great! My main go-to is the "oh no" burger, so good! I can usually eat a quarter of it and take the rest home! Their fries and onion rings... omg so good! They have great burgers! The other food here is good as well, I don't think my family has tried anything that they have not liked so far. My husband and the kids greatly enjoy the milkshakes and are usually so full from the shakes that they cannot finish their actual meals. Just okay for me. Nice bartender and good selection. I ordered the grilled chicken bacon cheese sandwich. It had chicken chunks, which makes for a messier sandwich. They probably use the same chicken for the salads. It was very greasy but it was okay. I also ordered the onion rings. They were a deep dark brown because they were burnt to a crisp. Arrived a little bit before five on a Wednesday and as soon as I sat down very attentive wait staff amazing atmosphere and a small but rich menu to go crazy over! And they have one heck of a menu! Having been to this place several times I went with a group of colleagues tonight. Thursday's special is half price wine night which was a good thing for our group since we all drink wine this was a great deal! The service was pretty good our waitress was very attentive and knew the menu well! I ordered the PB&J (Pork belly & jalapeño)Others ordered the mushroom burger, turkey burger, and the pulled pork. The sides we got were the sweet potato fries, Bbq Brussel sprouts, (being someone who doesnt like Brussels sprouts these were amazing)and asparagus (which were also amazing) Everything came out pretty quick and was very tasty! I was disappointed with our service upon arrival. Having two small children with us we called ahead to make a reservation or to get on the wait list. The lady at the front informed us over the phone that we would have to show up and come inside to get on the wait list. When we arrived and got on the wait list we were told 20 minutes. We needed up waiting in our car for an hour prior to being seated. I understand not having people wait indoors, but given the face that people must wait in their car what is the difference if the call ahead or walk into the building to get on the list? read more

Bettendorf restaurants can be tricky. In my experiences, you're often paying for a vibe or ambiance, a good tap list, and a menu that has the right words on it. "OoOoo they have truffle fries." But then the food comes and it's dissappointing. The food is never bad, but it's not great. It's like Applebee's got a face-lift and a tummy tuck to be accepted in Bettendorf. Central Standard, however, is different. I'd like to start by saying they've mastered the Cheese Curd. These are lightly battered, not breaded. (Culver's for example is breaded, and I think we can all agree battered is better.) The burgers have strong initial concepts and are consistently well executed. They are never unwieldy and overly messy, at least the ones I order aren't. On top of it all, I've always had excellent, friendly service here. Way to go Central Standard, you have broken the long held tradition of average Bettendorf restaurants. read more

First let me say that I come from a restaurant business background. This experience was disappointing to say the least. We ordered takeout and we were less than a mile away: one order of the oh no burger and one order of barbacoa nachos. We were told to wait until a little before 9 so we showed up at 8:53. The food was ready and sitting on the bar. Everything was warmish when we drove the mile back to our destination. The nachos were decent, but cold and more than a bit soggy. The burger was no where near rare as ordered, in part because the patties are so thin it would probably be impossible to make them that way; unfortunately, this was not communicated. They seem like fast food level patties which is why you get two. The burger tastes like nothing except salt and is essentially inedible. Unexpected for a $13 burger or literally any burger. The food looks fine but does not deliver. The fries are okay and probably even good when they are hot. No napkins or silverware were provided nor was ketchup for the fries. 28 dollars plus tip for cold soggy mostly tasteless food. Also, called to see if we could fix the issues, but there was no answer. Way over hyped. Just as an aside, one employee was not wearing a mask when we went in and one was. read more

Underwhelming There are places you go with amazing food where you pay for quality, places with huge portions of 'ok' food where you pay for quantity, and places where you pay for the atmosphere. Sadly, this seems to be the last one. With each bite of my $13 'eh, it's ok' burger, I wondered what percentage of the price was paying for the decor. At a guess, I'd say 50%. The $10 shake was also 'ok', I'd honestly rather pay 1/2 the price for a superior shake from Steak & Shake or Culvers. Visiting the Quad Cities after 8 months, my friends suggested this new (and conveniently located) place for Sunday brunch. Upon entering, I was quite impressed by the clean/modern décor, and the fun/lively "vibe". As others have mentioned, there was a 10-15 wait--but I consider that a good sign. Who waits to eat at a bad restaurant? Once we were seated, Keeley--our waitress--was polite and patient while we waited (with our drinks) for a late friend. Everything was going perfectly until I ordered the "Chicken Pot Pie" (a weekend special) and Keeley asked me if I wanted "ranch" on my salad. When I informed her that "I don't eat salad" (was ready to forego it), she informed me that I could "get any side" as a substitution. At that point, I was really impressed, since most restaurants don't let you substitute the salad with anything (except, maybe soup, if available). I looked at the list, and chose the "Cheese Tots". A few minutes later, a rude lady (who wasn't Keeley), came up to our table and demandingly asked, "Which one didn't have the ranch?"--we gave her a confused look, as only one of my friends ordered a salad (with ranch). Then, she looked at me and demanded, "You didn't order the pot pie!?"... I informed her that I did, and said that I was expecting the "Cheese Tots". At that point, she rudely stated, "You know there's an UPCHARGE for that--the 'Cheese Tots' are $3.00 extra!" Trying not to make a big ordeal in front of my friends. I simply stated: "I would contest that--because I was not informed there would be an UPCHARGE when I ordered". The lady just walked away without saying anything, and never came to our table again. I didn't have a problem with paying an additional $3.00 for the "Cheese Tots", but I should have been informed of this when placing the order--not afterwards, as a bait-and-switch. It's possible that Keeley didn't tell me about the UPCHARGE because she simply forgot, or she may have never intended to charge me (to be accommodating to my dietary needs)--but finding out afterwards (by a very abrupt person) made for a terrible dining experience. For a moment, my friends went silent, and it put a damper on the duration of meal. When I got the check, I was glad to see the $3.00 UPCHARGE removed (and circled with a pen). However, I was annoyed when Keeley made the following comment before our departure: "Just a reminder that everything but the fries has an UPCHARGE". What reminder??? I'm from out of town--and this was my first visit to Central Standard... I don't need to be "reminded"... I needed to "told" about the additional cost in the first place. Not everyone who visits this establishment is a local, so the UPCHARGE be mentioned whenever offering a substitution. We also couldn't understand why Keeley said that "everything but the fries" has an UPCHARGE--my friend got the salad (not fries) as her side, and was not charged an additional $3.00. So, is it "everything but the fries and the salad"...? It seems there is no clear way to know (in advance) what you're actually going to pay for your meal. In short, don't bother to substitute anything unless you want to be treated rudely--or, unless you explicitly ask if a particular side will cost more. I probably won't return (during my next visit to the Quad Cities) unless my friends really want to go there again. Sad :( read more

I went here for dinner by myself one night and sat in the bar area. The atmosphere was enjoyable and pretty empty for a Monday night dinner (assuming COVID still keeping business slow). They have a handful of hard cider option for non beer drinkers (or gluten free). In addition they have a gluten-free bun they can offer with the burgers. Always an exciting choice in the gluten free world of eating. I was told the fries shared a fried with breaded food, so cross contamination is a big one here with sides etc. I did a side salad instead and was very pleased with my food. My server could have been a little more attentive for the lack of customers there but overall very good! read more

Nice place and good atmosphere (industrial-ish). Reasonable prices and good food with GF options. Desserts especially are an attraction. The wait staff and the crew were friendly and efficient. Many reasons to visit EXCEPT: It's time for some furniture refurb. I wouldn't want to sit on a seat with torn up upholstery at home. Why would I want to pay for that at a restaurant? This was my third visit. I'll speak only to this visit. I ordered the Whiskey Bleu burger and asked for it to be a little pink. It wasn't. But, I think that's because it's two small patties, not one. I don't like a huge burger (1/4 to 1/3 lb is plenty). Anyway, my burger was a little dry but flavorful. My husband had the Fire and Smoke burger and liked it. I got the onion rings for my side. They could use more Cajun seasoning but were good. Great beer choices. I'm an amber beer drinker and did have two choices which, surprisingly, is rare! I'm only referring to draft beer options here.
