This cool spot is located in Bettendorf in a corner strip mall location. They've got counter service along with dining room space. It's decked out with live plants, some comfortable booths and some tables. It's an attractive space with a good view of the kitchen. It's a solid little space. We ordered the house salad, which is tossed in buttermilk ranch dressing and it's super delicious. Such a great salad to start with before the pizzas. It's large enough for 3 people to share, as there were 2 of us and we had some left over to take home. Brian Olsen has pizza on lock! He is a master at his craft. These pizzas have an amazing flavor, terrific crust and quality ingredients. They serve burgers and a chicken sandwiche, too! We ordered 3 different pizzas... one with garlic cream sauce and green peppers, one with pepperoni, sausage & red peppers and another specialty pizza with the hot honey & arugula with pepperoni and Calabrian chili's. Man, that was some good Za!! Claire was our server and she was terrific, too! Clearing dirty plates, refreshing silverware and beverages. Terrific attitude! All in all, Bettendorf has an amazing pizza restaurant that the locals should be grateful for in their own neighborhood! And, Smash serves beer, wine, and cocktails, too. I wish I lived closer. I'd become a regular and dine in often! Whenever I'm back in town, I'll be sure to stop by to try some different specialty pies, like the elote pie. That one sounded really good! We live in Las Vegas so pizza is not difficult to find and there is a lot of great pies. Smash is outstanding. Our daughter and son-in-law brought us there and we ordered the Bee Sting. This is one of the best Sicilian pizza's I've every had. The dough was thick and airy and the toppings were fresh and the sauce was perfectly perfect. Our other daughter and son-in-law joined us and they tried a thin crust pizza, so I couldn't help myself...and it was also excellent. And of course we started with a wonderfully fresh salad. Located in central Bettendorf, off of Devils's Glen Rd there is a shared parking lot available. Seating is limited, a few seats at the bar are available. I am a true Quad City Pizza Lover... so I had to dig into the reviews to see if straying would be worth it. Overall the food came out quick and was delicious. This is thin crust (but not cracker) pizza. We ordered a pepperoni and The Bianco. The pepp was delicious! The Bianco was really good, but it felt like it was missing something (maybe red pepper flakes?). Our server was attentive and friendly. The dining area is very small and it got very loud - at one point our table couldn't even hear each other speak. Overall it was still a good experience. The ambiance was cool and the space was large. We waited maybe 10 min it was before getting a table. The customer service was good and attentive. We started with the bread plate and added burrata. The burrata was not seasoned so it felt like we were just eating cheese which was weird because I love cheese and know the different flavors. We only had three well portioned sizes of the garlic buttered bread which I wish we had more because that was the best part of the bread plate. The half and half pizza was a plus. I'm happy they allowed us to do that. The kale and mushroom was tasty but again it liked something. Maybe spice, more herbs? It was overly greasy since they deep fry the kale. My wife and I have spent a lot of money here. A lot. At least for us I guess. And today I ordered $66 of pizza with 1.5 hours of lead time. I showed up 1.5 hours later. No pizza. After 20 minutes of nobody offering me an explanation or a drink, I felt like somehow my 6' 220 pound body was invisible. It finally came out after me standing there w no drink or explanation for 40+ minutes or break on the price. We love this place. My wife worked in food industry here for 15 years. See picture but basically it has ruined every pizza I've had elsewhere. I'm not even a crust gal and this is to die for - I don't waste a crumb. All the pizzas flavors have unique and inventive taste but I'm particularly fond of the kale and mushroom. I don't even like mushrooms on pizza - it's that good. For those that complain (I've heard) about the fact its on a strip mall and is small inside: you know how you keep a new restaurant operational and focus resources on the quality of the food? -- keep it small and simple. The sauce was tangy, hearty, and melded with the crust. The meatballs were cut up into small pieces and blended well with the creaminess of the ricotta. After eating 2.5 pieces, I decided 2 was the right amount. The salad was great - the dressing was light, but full of flavor and didn't feel too oily. We've been 2 times so far, our service has always been wonderful.
