    Love the Pepperoni Slice!
    Josh F.

This is a solid NY style pizza joint! We ordered a couple of pies. A 20-in half cheese half pepperoni and a 10-in bacon and beef. (Though it was really just a 10-in beef because they forgot to add the bacon. And, yes, I was charged for bacon. So, minor annoyance.) Word of warning, the 20-in pizza is huge. It's 8 slices. Most folks will be full with one or two slices. They're big! Another word of warning, the pizza has a bit of spice to it. My wife found it too spicy. I did not. I think it's the crushed black pepper. The crust is really good. The edges have a bit of sweetness to them. They use the cupping pepperoni, which I love. Inside, the joint has a modern look to it. They have a full bar, with what appears to be a lot of local beer choices. We just ordered takeout, so no comments on the drink selection. All in all, it's a good place. Though, if anyone is averse to mildly spicy foods, you might look out for that.

Got pizza from there tonight and it was FANTASTIC!! Thin, crispy, chewy crust, just the way I like it! Some of the best pizza I've had in 41 years!

Garlic knots aren't too buttery, they're more like pretzel bread but not salty. They have a slight sweetness to them. I thought it was very good. The marinara is quite spicy but delicious. Service was friendly. Funky kind of vibe place. Pizza slices are really big. One is enough for the average person. For two bottles of sprite, two LARGE slices of pizza and garlic knots, our bill was less than $20 and it was enough to fill us up.

Huge was pizza! We ordered Half of "Hi, Ya Wanna (Hawaiian Pizza)" and Half of "The R.I. Arsenal." It lasted us days. The R.I. Arsenal is loaded with everything. My wife wasn't really a fan of the meats they used (was very salty), so next time I will get her a veggie pizza.

Browsing their Facebook page, I ran across their special 'za of the month, 'Puerco Loco'. The picture looked amazing and I told myself we really needed this Crazy Pig for dinner. Upon opening of the pizza at home we were quite disappointed. You know how a Big Mac looks in McDonald's commercials, then you open the package and see what you really get? It was kinda like that. Where's the pepperoni and the rest of the toppings? (Picture 1 is their ad, picture 2 is our sad piggy). For nearly $40 for a thin crust pizza, I expect better.

Fantastic New York-style pizza with inventive topping combinations! I love the unique vibe of this place. It's basic and punk and rock and casual, making it a perfect fit for the downtown scene. Good mix of local beers. (But damn- barf domestics on tap. Who hurt you?!) Nice bar top seating; it's wide enough to actually sit and eat your lovely pizza. A little loud, but it's a pizza joint that plays great music, so now I know what to expect next time. Now for the pricing: locals and former east coasters are complaining about the per slice price. You pay for what you get, so do you want your servers and cooks to make a fair wage? Do you want above-grade toppings and not dog meat? Ok then. I'm returning to Lopiez and bringing friends. I need to try that margherita pizza next time!

Slice of cheese pizza and a while garlic pizza
    Collin R.

As other reviews noted the cheese does have a little kick to it due to the peppers, but it was mild enough for me. The garlic pizza was delicious! It was fresh and made to order. The staff were also very nice! I have it four stars because the cheese was basically just cheese and bread, I don't know if there was any sauce on it meaning even though it's a big slice, it's just cheese and bread.

Pizza was great, being someone not from the QC area is great to get some new York style. Best pizza I've had in the QC!

Delicious and reasonably priced. Make your own slice and a traditional homemade margarita is my go to!

It's decked out with live plants, some comfortable booths and some tables. It's an attractive space with a good view of the kitchen. It's a solid little space. We ordered the house salad, which is tossed in buttermilk ranch dressing and it's super delicious. Such a great salad to start with before the pizzas. It's large enough for 3 people to share, as there were 2 of us and we had some left over to take home. Brian Olsen has pizza on lock! He is a master at his craft. These pizzas have an amazing flavor, terrific crust and quality ingredients. They serve burgers and a chicken sandwiche, too! We ordered 3 different pizzas... one with garlic cream sauce and green peppers, one with pepperoni, sausage & red peppers and another specialty pizza with the hot honey & arugula with pepperoni and Calabrian chili's. Man, that was some good Za!! Claire was our server and she was terrific, too! Clearing dirty plates, refreshing silverware and beverages. Terrific attitude! All in all, Bettendorf has an amazing pizza restaurant that the locals should be grateful for in their own neighborhood! And, Smash serves beer, wine, and cocktails, too. I wish I lived closer. I'd become a regular and dine in often! Whenever I'm back in town, I'll be sure to stop by to try some different specialty pies, like the elote pie. That one sounded really good! So did the za with wild mushroom & kale!! Maybe one day Smash will create a taco pizza to compete with Happy Joe's, rip Joe Whitey. But, seriously, there is no comparison between the two. Smash is hands down one of the best pizza restaurants in the QC's and is better that many BIG city pizza spots. Thanks for the good time, great food & service!!
