Ok I went out to visit friends who were getting married. I was hungry and they mentioned that this place was known for their pizza. I love pizza, honestly I could eat it everyday. I'm a Chicago thin crust guy. That's my favorite. Love it more than Chicago deep dish. Which is still delicious. So I was skeptical going in I mean how good can pizza in Iowa be??? All I can say is that every single great review of this place doesn't come close to explaining how good this pizza is. I don't think there are words that can describe how great this pizza is. It's an experience you have to try for yourself. I took one bite and now I'm completely addicted. It had been awhile since I'd been. Went back and wasn't disappointed! It was a fairly busy Friday night. Service was good! We went deep dish so expected to be a long wait. It wasn't a bad wait even though they were busy. It was worth it! The deep dish was great! Two pieces after cheese bread was plenty! It's a great place to easily accessible. It has been literally 25 years since I've been to Vitale's because I've lived so far away. First experience with them when they came to DeWitt in like 1974. Everything was just perfect and somethings never change. The cheese is just the best quality and the sauce is great. Service tonight was impeccable even with a very busy dining room. Beer was cold, the Wide River wine selection does not disappoint. Can't wait to go back for another pizza. read more

A nice family type pizza place very easy to get to, parking is free and plentiful. The restaurant is pretty roomy with multiple dining areas inside. The restrooms are pretty little so if you are needing a wheelchair it might be difficult but the rest of the restaurant is very easy to navigate with a wheelchair, walker or cane. The service was outstanding the food came out piping hot and just how we ordered it. The menu had quite a few choice some standard and some more unique. Pizzas were able to be ordered to each patrons liking. read more

Okay, first of all, I was highly drawn to this because of the "deep dish". I read a bunch of reviews that compared it to Chicago style. This is not that. Don't expect it. You'll be disappointed. I was surprised all the Chicagoans on here that were like THIS IS SO GREAT when it was clearly totally different. Here's why - Chicago style pizza, with its thick deep dish, has a very specific ingredient that makes it so unique - corn meal/flour. This pizza is regular pizza crust shaped into a deep dish style. Now, it's not their fault as they don't promote it as "Chicago style" but still. The other weird thing is they call it stuffed. It was confusing. I thought stuffed would be stuffed crust, but no. Just keep this in mind. They are pretty giving with their toppings, and their sizes are pretty large. I think the pricing is fair for as much as you get, but I did pay $18 for a small pizza. Overall, it was good pizza. I brought it home and it was still good as leftovers. I would probably eat here again while I'm in town, but it's not super special and I wouldn't have dreams about it. read more

The Pizza is 5 stars, no two ways about it. Best Chicago deep dish on this side of the Mississippi. Highly recommend the cheeseburger pizza and meat lovers stuffed deep dish. Me and the family get this pizza any time we have relatives over and it's unanimously loved. The only reason I've given 4 stars is because one time I ordered pizza, the delivery driver got there and I signed the receipt. I'd realized I forgot my cash tip inside and went in to grab it, but before I even got into the door the delivery driver yelled "Thanks for the tip!" And sped off. I wouldn't classify it as a completely negative experience, as if I would have remembered the tip in the first place it wouldn't have happened, but it left a bad taste in my mouth about the delivery service and I tipped the next guy 20$ due to some guilt. read more

After having lived in Chicago, I have high standards for deep dish pizza and this definitely met my expectations! We ordered take out and the pizza was nice and hot when we got it and was perfect when we got home. My husband and I have different tastes in pizza so we got 2 smalls, which gave us plenty of leftovers, which is awesome! He got the meat lovers and really enjoyed it. I got the Vitales Special with no mushrooms and it was great. Both of the pizzas had plenty of toppings. The only thing is that I felt it was light on sauce so I'll be asking for extra next time. Place is incredible! A lifesaver honestly in a small town with not a lot of good options to choose from to start! (Believe me I checked) Amazing staff and owners who just want to do things right and please people and leave them with a full stomach and a smile on they're face! I came to this place starving and got a carry out small deep dish pizza with lots of veggies on it and got back to my hotel and had 4 slices and was stuffed completely! I paid 20$ and I have basically two GIANT fantastic meals for two days! You can count this place as a real deal pizza place that will stay there for as long as they wanna stay there! Pay no attention to the negative reviews for this place a lot of bad reviews were not even real customers according to the owner!
