I came here to check out their Downtown Dining Week dinner special recently. Their special was definitely worth the value. For the price of $35, I was able to get House made tomato soup, 10oz New York Striploin steak and an Oreo Nutella cheesecake dessert. The food was delicious and I was very full afterwards. The only slight complaint was that the steak was more on the raw side even though I ordered a medium rare. My friend ordered a medium but her steak was more medium rare. Service was okay and friendly. Our server didn't check on us much and forgot to give me a spoon for my soup. Covid precautions were well put into place. There are plexiglass separating all the tables and our table was well distanced from others. I wouldn't mind coming back to try more of their food becuase it was quite good!

This place is a great place to hang out with friends and family while enjoying some excellent food and cocktails. We came here to celebrate a birthday and were seated immediately. The place was a little loud for my liking with the hockey game blasting on all the TVs- it made it hard to have an actual conversation but maybe that's ok for your crowd.... The food - now that was a winner. I got The Cure from the all day brunch menu. It's an fries, cheese curds, bacon and eggs with the best sauce you've had. You could share and have dessert but why? We also ordered The Ronald- a better take on a clowns burger and the Chicken Parmesan Sandwich. Yum. And for drinks- try the Wild Berry Mojito. It was a favourite at our table. We also got the hot wings and Texas dry rub. If you are only getting one flavour get the rub - you can get hot wings anywhere. The only bad thing about this location of Central Social Hall is parking. It's on the corner of Jasper and 109 so it's street parking and walking or a parkade. Just be prepared for that in addition to the meal or when planning your outfit!

Decent daily specials. Family friendly for brunch on weekends. Good service. Huge restaurant with outdoor patio. I have been here alot lately and the food is not as good as it used to be. When this place first opened. The chef was stellar using top notch fresh ingredients and a wonderful brunch menu. My last visit was extremely underwhelming. I came for brunch which allows kids on weekends. Thats nice to enjoy a pub like place once in awhile with family. I ordered the popular "the cure" which was a delicious creamy poutine with bacon and poached eggs. It was great and gobbled down quickly. I would recommend this if you are eating here on weekends as about 80% of the people were ordering this lr the bennys. Next we had the chicken in waffles. This dish was awful. The waffle was soggy and soft. The chicken was boring and flavourless. It has got to be the worst chicken and waffles i have ever had...ever. The drinks on the other hand were good. Some great specials and they didnt seem watered down. I always raved about the awesome brunch they had here several years ago. But its definetly changed and i would just stick to the drinks if visiting here.

Crispy Ribs... they're a thing in Canada and they're magical and mythical like the beasts of Narnia, which is probably where they come from! These ribs, along with a wonderful server and bartender, saved the experience at Central Social Hall, lifting my overall from 3 to 3.5 rounded to 4. I've had sticky ribs, BBQ ribs, dry rubbed ribs, braised ribs and even chopped steamed ribs, but never have I had a "Canadian Crispy Rib"! You're probably dying to know what these are already so I'll try and describe them. Imagine an entire rack of pork ribs (either baby back or spare) cut into small, nearly uniform chunks, bone-in. These pieces are then coated in a dusting of seasoned flour, heavy on the salt and pepper, and deep fried to golden brown perfection. The flour is so light that the meat is actually fried as well, giving it a crispy exterior. The fried meat and coating combined have a very savory, tender but toothsome quality that you can't help but want to gnaw completely off the bone. P.S. If you have leftovers like we did, they eat incredibly well RIGHT OUT OF THE FRIDGE the next day! The original dish I ordered was the Roadhouse sandwich. I was excited because it featured Alberta Beef, and it sounded like a behemoth, topped with mushrooms, onion rings, and horseradish aioli. What arrived was far more dainty that imagined, and the beef was over cooked and a bit tough too. In its entirety, the sandwich was unimpressive and I would not recommend it. Cocktail wise, these guys are on it. I enjoyed a Boulevardier, served with a large cube of ice to avoid dilution, and while a bit heavy on the amaro, was quite enjoyable after the steak and alongside the ribs. Central Social Hall is a pretty sweet spot for lunch, dinner, drinks, dates or groups. Comfy seating and plenty of natural light also make it great for taking photos too.

This is my first to central social, we found the dine downtown specials and thought we would give them a try. What a beautiful restaurant! My partner and I were able to miss the brunch rush as we arrived around lunch time. We were able to sit right beside the big windows. Usually this spot is cold but it wasnt here. I was very comfortable. We ordered the 2 course brunch, I had the breakfast poutine and my partner had the eggs Benedict. They were amazing! We ordered the apple brown butter waffles for the 2nd which was equally amazing. Would definitely go again. The breakfast poutine and eggs Benedict arrived quickly, hot, fresh and oh so good. Food was on point!! ALSO HALF PRICE DRINKS ALL DAY SUNDAY. I may have indulged in a breakfast bellini. mmmmmmm A couple things I didnt appreciate. The music. Listening to gangster rap or whatever god awful noise they played at a volume just above tolerable. I considered 3 stars because the music didnt match the atmosphere the people or the time of day. We arent at a grungy dance club. It was by far the thing that negatively affected my experience the most. The second issue, both my partner and I had, when they brought out the waffles the waitress offered syrup, which of course! What heathen dosent eat waffles with syrup? The issue was by the time she came back with syrup 15 minutes had passed and our waffles were cold. :(

A few months ago, I hosted a Chef's Table experience at Central Social Hall for my birthday brunch! It was my second time hosting a Chef's Table here. I love that this is offered because it's an intimate way to connect with friends over delicious food. The set menu composes of a variety of brunch dishes meant for sharing, with cocktails in between, and dessert to finish off the meal. We started off with Belgian Waffles. These were housemade with strawberry rhubarb compote and chantilly cream. The waffles were very light and fluffy and the toppings weren't overly sweet. I could probably eat the whole plate to myself and not get sick of it! The breakfast poutine was one of my favourite dishes from the Chef's Table menu. The shoestring fries were topped with fresh cheese curds, red wine gravy, free run poached eggs, bacon, avocado, and roasted poblano + white cheddar sauce. It may seem like there was a lot of toppings but it came together well. The poutine was very savoury. It would also make a great "cure" for those hungover Sunday mornings! We didn't only have brunch dishes during our Chef's Table experience. The Chicken & Rocket Linguini can be found on CSH's main menu. The linguini used a light white wine and tomato cream sauce. Mixed in were garlic chicken thighs, grape tomatoes, fresh basil, and arugula. It was finished off with Grana Padano, chilli flakes, and herbed bread crumbs on top. This was a filling dish and our table enjoyed it! The Loco Calle Tacos was the only item that we weren't fans of. It consisted of 2 slow-roasted serrano lime chicken tacos topped with cabbage, spicy crema, pico de gallo, cotija cheese, and Valentina hot sauce. We found the taste to be overpowering, particularly from the cheese. If you asked me what my favourite dish from Central Social Hall was, I'd say the Perogies & Sausage. Central gets their perogies from Baba's Own so you know it's authentic. These potato and cheddar perogies are accompanied by crumbled sausage, caramelized onions, and sour cream. A simple perogy dish that you can't go wrong with! The Kettle Chips & Dip weren't part of the Chef's Table menu but we got to order them off the main menu. I fell in love with them the first time I had them in 2014 when CSH launched their new menu. The dip that came with the kettle chips was sour cream & caramelized onion dip. It reminded me of sour cream & onion chips, but more gourmet. We finished off with the meal with two sweet endings: Made to Order Doughnuts and Nutella Cheesecake. I really liked the Nutella Cheesecake because of the Oreo cookie crumble it had on the bottom layer! Overall, I had a great time at my second Chef's Table experience. It was an unforgettable way to celebrate my birthday as well.

I did something to receive a two for one burger at Central Social Hall and that was a good excuse to finally make the trek the downtown to try this place out. We arrived just before 1:00 pm on a Friday. The first thing I discovered was that the parking lots next to Central's building charged $9.00 per hour. However just a block or two east it we found street parking for a much more reasonable $2.00 per hour. Inside the restaurant we noticed several tables occupied from the lunch crowd but as they left we were the only customers left - in the dining area at least. This isn't really surprising given Covid-19 and the fact that Central Social Hall is more of a night spot than a lunch place. Our server quickly explained that they ask customers to look at their menu on-line due to the pandemic. That's the first time I've seen this method used but it makes sense and saves them the effort of cleaning menus or discarding paper menus as do many other establishments. It's a little early for beer, so we each ordered a coffee. Both the first cup and the refill seemed a lot less hot than normal. I don't know if that's because of the time of day or is it just how they serve coffee? Well it's not billed as a coffee house. I ordered "The Jasper," a chicken burger with avocado and brie. It was delicious and unique. I highly recommend it. My wife ordered the Ronald, which is their way of saying a regular burger. She said that it was okay but nothing special. I think that when she ordered the regular nothing special burger she should expect a regular nothing special burger. Overall we enjoyed our meals and it was nice to finally try out this establishment, especially given its prominent location on 9th and Jasper. Four stars, even though the coffee was bland and not hot.

Honey fried chicken sandwich without cheese and pickles and lotsa skinny fries $16

It was 3PM on a weekday afternoon and there was one person eating at the bar and we had our choice of seats. We picked the booth seats for 2 to the left of the bar area. If we preferred watching the traffic on Jasper Ave, we could have sat at the other small booths on the other side but I preferred our area. There were lots of TVs around including a few with random facts streaming and also music playing. Where else could you find a playlist that included Salt-N-Pepa, Elton John, Run DMC, and Rick Astley?! The bartender/server brought us menus and took our drink order. I looked at the menu before arriving and had my eye on the honey fried chicken sandwich for $16. It sounded pretty good with a buttermilk fried chicken breast, cheese, pickles, coleslaw, BBQ sauce, and mayo. I got it without the cheese and pickles and fries. We waited about 15 minutes and our food arrived. The sandwich looked pretty good with the slaw under the chicken that was larger than the bun. I cut it in half so it would be easier to eat. The chicken was nice and crispy and accompanied with the slaw, it was a great combination. They gave a large container of skinny fries and it was too many for me but my husband happily finished them for me. The food was a little messy to eat so an extra napkin would have been appreciated. The women's washroom had 4 stalls and the one I choose was really dark as the other couldn't lock and I didn't want to use the one for wheelchair users. It's also cramped to get in and out and I didn't want to rub against the side of the toilet! Good thing with it being so dark, I didn't fall in! The service was efficient and after our meal, we talked to one of the Managers, Tom. He was a friendly and nice guy. Would likely be back to enjoy another lunch!

First things first. There is no longer free parking in the parking lot south of the building. Second thing. The street parking on both sides of 109st is a no-no after 3:30. But even with my two personal fuck ups, It doesn't dampen my spirits when it comes to enjoying Central Social Hall. Post-Reno's, they have an awesome 4 level patio with lovely bright pink umbrellas. So inviting. The food is always consistently good. I would compare it to Earl's, but better. Our faves are: kale Caesar salad, Texas dry rub wings, the Ronald (it's like a Big Mac, but for grown ups), the chicken and rocket linguini, and that damn Nutella cheesecake. Bonus: the wings seem to be a permanent freebie every Friday from 3pm-6pm, and the server was kind enough to inform us that's *per person*. Yesssssssss. They make everything from scratch or locally sourced. The portions are always very generous. And everything I've had was always good. It's been a while since I've been to the brunch, but I do remember it being very satisfying. And I don't know what happens to this place after like 9pm, but some people tell me it's more of a club atmosphere. I can't say anything about that, but as far as a relaxing place to get some good food, you won't be disappointed here.

came back again for another birthday, this time on a rainy sunday evening- so you can imagine it was pretty slow. Despite there not being a dj, the music was still great. Our server was pretty average, not as good as the girl from last night time. But she and the manager gave the celebrant two big bundles of balloons, super cute. This time I shared: nachos - they were just okay, the olives and the olive juice was really over bearing. made to order doughnuts - might i say this is the best thing on the menu, they were soooo delicious! warm and very well complemented by the sauce. overall, i do think their menu isn't the best as it kind of lacks variety. however, i'll continue to come back to this place as the vibe seems to be consistently great.

I used to go to school downtown, and I'd pass by Central Social Hall while walking to the LRT, and I'd think "it's a sports bar. it's not for me." Well apparently I was wrong because I went to a Yelp Event here, and Central Social Hall is kind of awesome. It's big and open, and not nearly as loud as I expected it to be. Of course I was here for Sunday Brunch, Friday night during the hockey playoffs might be a different story. There's free parking on weekends and evenings after 5pm. That's awesome. They're also a short walk from The Corona LRT Station. The food was really good, a lot better than your typical bar food. The owners talked about how much the menu and food has changed, and how they had improved over the years. Central Social Hall didn't get off to an amazing start in its first years, but it's clear the owners have definitely tried to improve that. These are local business owners who are passionate about their business, which rocks. The menu, at least for brunch, was pretty cool. There were a classic brunch dishes, but with a bit of a twist. We got to try several different dishes, most having poached eggs. While I would have prefered my poached eggs to be cooked just a little longer the dishes were really good. The two standouts for me were The Belgian Waffles with the fruit compote and Chantilly cream. Right now, as it's fall, the compote was pear. Yum. I also love The Cure a massive dish of fries, cheese curds, red wine gravy, poached eggs, and a roasted poblano and white pepper sauce. The roasted poblano sauce is what Central Social Hall uses on their Eggs Benny instead of Hollandaise. It's a unique twist to a classic dish. I don't know how the rest of the menu is, but I really enjoyed brunch here, and I definitely look forward to checking out Central Social Hall again.

Thought we'd have brunch after the Yelp visit last weekend, feeling lazy and curious to see how the kitchen fares without the presence/oversight of Executive Chef Reuben. Arrived at 11am and this week it wasn't as busy as last. Had a seat and Hunter came to look after us. We enjoyed our chats and service was attentive. No pineapple mimosas on the menu, (those were delicious last week - if you get offered one as a choice, just say YES), so my dining companion ordered the pomegranate mimosa instead. I thought I'd sample the white sangria. Tasty! I'll probably ask for less ice next time... I love the sangria! Last week, a gluten-free oil country bennie was facilitated for the special Yelp menu. Chef grilled me a heck of a delicious grilled 1/2 tomato that was warmed right through to put under the fixins instead of an english muffin. GENIUS! Tried to order from the kitchen this week, mmmmm not so fast. Got some slices of tomato instead. Nice, but not the same. My friend ordered her poached egg cooked hard, and yes, it came well cooked as she prefers. The "hash browns" are tasty little squished potato crunch bites with a nice coating of large grain salt. I like the potato served that way. The italian sausage is locally sourced and has a nice balance of flavour. And there is no hollandaise sauce. Don't ask, and you won't miss it. Instead a unique roasted poblano white cheese sauce with an ever so subtle light kick of spicy goodness. Very tasty able sauce for any dish. We like the brunch menu, we'll be back to sample more of it. While we were there, one of the ladies behind the bar was juicing limes by hand. I have to comment because it's not often you see a restaurant/bar/gastropub getting FRESH like that! Two thumbs up.

Pop down finally to check out the brunch here, and worked out that it was worth their big fifth anniversary bash! We didn't have a reservation at the staff was very kind to squeeze us in at the bar, even though it was jampacked and tons of reservations. Last time we made the mistake of trying to bring some kids, and they don't except children for the brunch. The brunch was sponsored by Moet, and there was tons of balloons and Champagne flowing! I really like the brunch menu, it's a really good mix of lots of hangover favorites... And then some really nice Benedict's, and some healthy things. My friend went with "the cure", which is basically a super huge poutine with all the fixings and some poached eggs on top... Definitely "the cure" if you know what I mean! And with the avocado and tomato Benedict, it was really nicely done and I did like their take on the classic hollandaise sauce. Also pop a bottle of bubbly! Definitely will be back for the brunch here.

I liked it, It made it more intimanite. Menu varies depending on the season. But I am sure that everyone will find something they would like. We chose a few things raw elk with fried capers, shallots & blueberries, the seared scallops with celeriac puree, capers, garlic and butter, saskatoon berry brisket with beef and carmelized onion on bannock, and the pappardelle rabbit ragu with parmigian reggiano . We also took two cockails which was delicous. Service was prompt and friendly. Food was delicious. The stand out was the raw elk. Delicous combination of thing that do a party in you mouth. I would go back just for that . The only thing that I didn't enjoy was the brisket. Way too sweet for me. Be warned it is pricey. Expect to empty your pocket book.

Drinks are good but can very very strong. Boyfriend got the Zombie and felt sooooo buzzed borderline drunk. Loved the skull ratings which really helped. Honi honi- 7/10 - tastes too much like alcohol/ too strong for me. Captain's Cut 8/10 - good very light flavor Missionary's downfall 8/10- too much mint for me. Zombie - 10/10 if you like strong drinks. Overall a very cool place to go for drinks.

Our server was friendly and fun. And she totally matched the atmosphere. Food menu is limited. I would like to see a few more selections particulary since they get their meat from Smoke next door. I went with the Zombie which was a flippin 4 oz. It was delicious. And well worth the price. To eat we tried the burnt ends, the fries, and the mac and cheese. Food came out slower than typical but it was a good use of our time to enjoy the space and our drinks. Food was good. For sure the burnt ends were the star of the show. But the mac and cheese was good and creamy and the fries were well flavoured and plentiful. Sliders were well constructed. come here for amazing drinks and snacks! And the food is an added bonus.

Our table was ready at our reservation time and we were reminded we have 2 hours to dine as they need the table for another group. Drink + food menu was slightly different from what was online but I ordered a drink that was on the online menu and not the paper menu and it was still accommodated. Searching for someplace to go for a girls night out on the town? Look no further than Dolly's…read moreCocktail Bar! Slap on your sparkly dress and a pair of heels (or wear whatever the heck you want) and make your way to Downtown's pink palace! You'll remember this location as the former home of Fu's Repair Shop and Prairie Fish & Chips before that. The Edmonton Food Faves We Crave 2024 list named Dolly's as Favourite Patio and the pictures that I've seen of the back terrace look completely adorable, complete with colourful lanterns. Unfortunately, my visit was in October and it wasn't quite patio weather anymore. I turned up on a Friday evening with one of my best girlfriends in tow and we were ready for the biggest Barbiecore night of our lives! Imagine our surprise when we discovered that Dolly's had been transformed into the "Black Lagoon" for the month of October in the spirit of Halloween. (I probably should have looked into this in advance but I was unaware!) I was expecting Cyndi Lauper and Aqua but instead I got Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson. The whole restaurant was draped in the most spider webs that I've ever seen. There were giant spiders hanging from the ceiling and spooky skeletons in every corner. It was a vibe, that's for sure!! But certainly not the one that I had been anticipating. Bits of pink paint and sparkly chandeliers peeked through in some areas and the neon "Dolly's" sign on the wall allowed me to imagine what the Barbie dreamhouse-esque space normally looks like just a little bit. Otherwise, Dolly's was fully transformed into the moody Black Lagoon. I should've worn fishnets instead of glitter. The servers were all very friendly and we were quickly seated at a comfortable table along the hot pink velour banquette. Dolly's invites you to sip, snack, and stay in their minor-free glamorous escape. The house cocktails and mocktails are a major part of the experience (it is a cocktail bar after all) and I was excited to get a cute pink beverage into my hand! There was also a menu of Black Lagoon-themed cocktails that were all served in fun tiki-style vessels. This menu included themed foods as well. I personally had my eye on the Pink Palace Royale cocktail which I saw on the menu online. Made with a special collab gin with Strathcona Spirits and Licor 43 (one of my favourite liqueurs), this sounded like everything that I wanted in a cocktail and more! Other drinks had names like Dolly's Dreamhouse, Bubbilicious, and the house shot was called the Bend & Snap - exactly the sort of drinks that I had come for! However, I was sorely disappointed when the server told me that the drink I wanted was no longer on the menu. It seemed that I could only order a Halloween beverage. I fumbled to find anything that Elle Woods would approve of and settled on a mocktail called Pretty in Pink (Strawberry, cream of coconut, lime, soda, mint - $9.00) and the server suggested that the bar could add vanilla vodka to turn it into a proper cocktail. I agreed. Honestly, I was just relieved to get something pink onto the table! I enjoyed this icy-fresh cocktail a lot and it delivered most of what I had been hoping for. The sweetness of the strawberry and coconut was really fun! The lime and mint added a mojito flair. A very cute and well-composed beverage but I was sad that most of the girly drinks didn't seem to be available. When it comes to eats at Dolly's the food is what you would expect to see at a party, with the idea of sharing at the heart. I loved the idea of Dolly's Funhouse (which is an epic plate of nachos), and dishes like wings, tacos, and mac & cheese. However, the dish to order at Dolly's has gotta be the Girl Dinner (Truffle tots, chickie tendies, aji verde, aji rocoto, pineapple sweet & sour, Dolly's salad - $50.00 for two). It's a must-share so grab your girlies and prepare to chow down! They had me at tots. The Girl Dinner platter arrived looking extremely appetizing and somehow exactly what I wanted to be eating in a place that looked like this. The portion was exactly right for two people and I loved the pretty floral printed plates that we were given to dish our tots and tendies onto. As previously mentioned, I enjoy a tot. (I have a suspicion that Napoleon Dynamite really imprinted on me.) But truffle tots? Now that's just a home run! Topped with sea salt, truffle oil, and parmesan cheese, these golden potato nuggets were fried to perfection with a crispy outside and a soft and fluffy inside. I could have eaten them all. They were awesome to dunk into each of the sauces and when the rest of the food was gone we were still popping tots into our mouths. We couldn't even finish them all because the portion was so generous! The star of the meal were the chickie tendies; two giant chicken tenders, of which we each got our own. I loved this chicken! The batter was really flavourful and unique, and oh so crispy-crunchy. The chicken within was very tender and juicy, proving that an elevated chicke
