I did the Groupon deal and was satisfied with the result. There were several deals available, some including eye exams. I took the one that said "$39 for $200 toward a complete pair of prescription eyeglasses." I can see how some people might be confused or feel mislead with that wording, but my understanding was clear that what I was buying was $200 towards the total cost of the glasses. In other words, this amount would be subtracted from the cost of frames or lenses. I arrived at the office just as Terry was closing up, but he stayed open just for me. He was able to determine my prescription by looking at my current glasses, thus eliminating the need for an exam and saving me money since I had forgotten my exact prescription. I needed sunglasses because I had lost my last pair and was going on vacation the following week to Arizona. I found a nice pair of Lacoste frames and with the groupon deal they were pretty much covered. We discussed lenses and prices, tinted vs. polarized, and Terry made me a very good deal. We agreed I would pay cash in return for a good discount, and Terry even waited for me while I went to a nearby ATM to get enough cash. The total cost was $275. I gave him $100 deposit cash and told him I'd pay the rest when they were ready. A few days later he called me that they were ready, but then called back because there had been a mistake with the lenses. It was still ahead of schedule so I didn't mind. Then Terry really went above and beyond - he stopped off on his way to a meeting in New Jersey to visit the factory and make sure that my lenses were going to be right this time. He brought them back himself and called me, and I picked them up and paid the remaining $175 cash that day. I was able to get the glasses in time for my trip, with the polarized lenses, for a very good price. My last pair of sunglasses cost me over $600 from a store in Rye, and took two weeks to come in. I lost my sunglasses two weeks before my vacation and Terry came through for me big time. He basically saved my entire vacation, because to be in Arizona climbing rocks without sunglasses would have been a disaster. I can't say enough about the great job he did for me - truly went above and beyond for me as a customer. That's the kind of guy Terry is. I'm an attorney, and I know a good deal when I see one. I see a comment here that implies that the Groupon deal was not fully above board, but I disagree. I think that some people who shop at Costco are used to getting crap frames and lenses for bargain prices, and think that they will buy a $35 Groupon and get a full set of brand-name glasses for nothing. That is not how the world works. Frames, lenses, exams, labor, all cost money. Terry's deal with me was more than reasonable, and his customer service was beyond anything I could have expected. If you want a great deal he is always willing to work with you and he's a good man, from the "old school" where customer service actually means something. I highly recommend Terry and Central Eyes Optical. read more

I got a deal on LivingSocial ($30 worth $250 to spend on a complete pair of glasses) and walked in the store on a Sunday around 12:30pm. The store was empty, the welcoming was kind and I was helped immediately. I gave the optician my "old" glasses and he was shocked by their condition/making. Within 1 minute, he fixed what I thought would be non-fixable and we joked that I wouldn't even need new glasses anymore! Then, he asked what style of frames I was looking for and we browsed the wide collection of designer frames. He was very helpful and suggested many styles that actually met my expectations. In the meantime, another customer came in and while the owner was attending to him, I was able to continue looking through the frames without any rush - something I have not been able to do in other stores, mostly, because the frames are displayed behind the counter or locked away. The freedom of looking/browsing through the selection on my own was a HUGE plus!! Eventually, I had about 4 frames to choose from and the owner was patient and helpful in the decision making. Once I made my final pick, he confirmed that he has the matching lenses available and I could pick up my glasses within 20 minutes!! That was another "wow" as in my past experiences, I always had to wait several days for new glasses to be picked up. He pointed out that he is using Zeiss glass which is known for great quality and I liked that! After uncomplicated payment and a short trip to the store next door, I came back 20 minutes later and received a hard case, complimentary eye-glass cleaner and my brand new glasses which fit perfectly. Bottom line: within 1 short hour I got great customer service and a wonderful pair of new glasses. I can only recommend this optician and certainly will be back for my next pair!! read more

I have been a wearer of glasses for years. It was always a back and forth with the optician to get my glasses "just right"due to having a few things going on differently in each eye. I had been to many a store and suffered through many a pair that have been "off" UNTIL I found Terry and CEO. Many pairs later I am still a VERY satisfied and happy customer. The selection that the store offers, the price and the honest assessment of how each pair looks has been so helpful. Terry will make sure you are happy with your prescription and will not be satisfied until you leave there satisfied. I don't know about you BUT I cannot see without my glasses and to have found CEO has truly been a Godsend. It is the only place I will now shop for glasses. There is also a huge selection of frames from conservative styles all the way to the wildest of wild. Whatever your mood, color scheme, or fashion sense you WILL find what you are looking for and leave a happy wearer. I wear my glasses as one would wear their favorite jewelry and every pair I own is now a treasured find. read more

Just picked up new glasses from Terry this afternoon and I am very, very pleased with them both. Ordered on Tue and delivered on Thursday. I've never had glasses fit so well and be so immediately comfortable in use. Terry spent a lot of time with me, both selecting frames and lenses and ordering as well as when I picked them up - taking the time to get them adjusted to my liking and explaining many things to me that the opthalmologist does not seem to have the time to do these days. It appears that I will be faced with cataract surgery in the next year or so and he was helpful and informative about planning for that event. He is my "go to guy" from here on out and I consider him a friend after this transaction! I was given the benefit of an advertised special and the 2nd pair was complimentary...so I feel I was treated more than fairly. Terry and his staff have my highest recommendation. (btw, they have a huge and wonderful selection of frames and options...it would be easy to get carried away!) Mike H. Hartsdale NY read more

My best friend showed up one Sunday with these amazing Prada frames and told me she went to Central Eyes Optical. So I went... immediately I could feel a warm vibe from the stores lighting and displays. Terry greeted me with a big smile and made me feel very welcome. As I looked at different frames, Terry was very patient and honest with me ( I tend to be very indecisive when picking frames) He explained the science behind the structure of frames and how different frames fit different faces. What I learned was very informative and extremely interesting! The whole process was very stress free because I didn't feel like I was rushed and given just any frames. Terry took his time and helped me find frames that were within my budget, fit well, looked wonderful and are very stylish. From now on I will be giving my business to Central Eyes Optical and so should you!! You won't regret it!! read more

I recently purchased glasses from Central-Eyes Optical for the first time. From start to finish, the experience far exceeded my expectations. The wide selection of frames could have been overwhelming, but Terry Schneider, the owner, made suggestions and I quickly narrowed down my options to a few pairs. More significant than the actual frames was that I was getting progressive lenses for the first time. When I picked up my glasses Terry took the time to educate me in how to transition to progressive lenses. I am enjoying my glasses, both aesthetically and functionally. I rarely write reviews but feel that Central-Eyes deserves an unconditional recommendation. read more

Let me start by saying I hardly write a review, but this place is exceptionally worth it. Central-Eyes Optical is one of the best if not THE BEST optical store I've been to. Terry (the owner) nothing short of an angel. Not only that, their selection of glasses and sunglasses, customer service, Terry's knowledge, competitive and reasonable prices on top of Terry ensuring you are getting the best deal and most importantly leaving as a happy customer....I can just go on! I'd recommend this place 110%. This is the place! He makes you feel right at home. Not just me, but any customer I saw there was smiling & looked happy to be there. Thank you Terry. F.T. read more

It isn't overly difficult to find a store selling glasses yet what makes Central Eyes Optical stand out is the selection of quality, luxury brand name glasses you'd have difficult finding anywhere else. Terry is very well informed and was extremely helpful in making sure he was available for assistance but allowing us the opportunity to browse the selections casually. He is a true professional who will ensure you leave his store a happy customer. They are also offering these quality glasses at a tremendous discount compared to what you might find online, so it is definitely worth the trip to see the selection for yourself. Superb optician, a genuine craftsman of the old school. Five gold stars. And Central Eyes Optical easily has one of the the best selections of fashionable frames in New York. But okay, let's say you're very, very, very particular and don't see exactly what it is you're looking for... No problemo, this expert optician will find it. Order it. Or "poof,'" like a custom jeweler or shirtmaker somehow create the frames himself. (I don't know these gentleman from Adam, but I recognize boutique perfectionism.) It's not a superstore, it's not the mall. Eccentric, yes. Expensive, not at all (they'll work with you). Hands down, Five gold stars. read more

I had an "emergency". My frames broke and I can't do without them. Central Eyes is in my neighborhood, so I called and was told to come in. I was there 15 minutes later and was out 20 minutes after that with reasonably priced frames, cleaning fluid and a tip on protecting the lenses that I hadn't heard before. In the past, it was left up to me to search through a myriad of frames to guess which ones might fit. It took Terry all of 60 seconds to find the right ones. He did all of this while conversing with other customers to make sure they didn't feel like they were being ignored. All in all, a very good experience. read more

I have bought 5 pairs of glasses at Central Eyes Optical and love each pair more than the next. The first time I had my eyes examined and ordered progressive bifocals. Previously I had only used inexpensive reading glasses. Terry Schneider took the time to teach me how to acclimate to wearing progressive bifocals and I am hooked. Subsequently I have purchased 2 pairs of designer progressive, polarized, sunglasses as well as 2 pairs and enjoy wearing them. I have recommended friends and family and everyone has always been equally satisfied. Geri read more

An all-around pleasant experience. One note, I am not 100% familiar with Central Avenue and used GPS to get there. Sprint will not send you to the right place via GPS ; it keeps telling you that the old computer store is your destination. It appears to be a Sprint thing because I've used two different GPS apps and I had the same problem last year going to Rudy's across the street. By the way, this review will be filtered because Yelp is run by morons, so in advance, I am a real person with a real review. Shall I screenshot the Groupon, Yelp? read more

My lucky day was when I visited Central Eyes Optical. Terry the optician and owner is SO accommodating, cheerful, and patient. He always selects the "winner" frame that is perfect not only for my face but also my personality immediately. Even after trying on many other frames I always seem to fall back on the frame he originally chose for me. Terry is very personable and a pleasure to work with. After all of the incredible experiences I have had at Central Eyes Optical and with Terry, I wouldn't even think of going anywhere else! read more

Central Eyes is the best eyewear store. I just so happened to stumble along this place because my frame broke. Lucky for me there was a doctor on site. I was able to get an eye exam on the spot. The service was great....the selections was awesome. I ended up buying two pairs of glasses for a great price. The owner Terry was such a great help AND he gave me a good deal on my total bill. The people there made me feel like I was an old friend. I felt very comfortable. Overall I was very satisfied with the service AND my new glasses read more

I bought a groupon for this location. It was a great deal, 20 bucks for 200 bucks worth of frames. The place had a great selection of frames. It took me seconds before I found the perfect frame. The service was amazing, the man working was warm, funny, and attentive. He even gave me and my friend a small little dessert pastry as we browsed around. He gave me such a great price on the glasses. I really couldn't ask for any better service. I plan on getting my next frames from here and spreading the word to all my friends. read more

Prior to going to Central Eyes Optical I only wore readers and was finding it challenging transitioning from reading, the computer, GPS etc. I was examined by an optometrist at Central Eyes Optical, and fitted with my first pair of progressive, transition glasses. 5 pairs later...I love each pair. Terry took the time to teach me how to adjust to progressive lenses. I know people who have gone to other opticians who were not successful in adjusting. I unconditionally recommend Central Eyes. Terry Schneider at Central Eyes Optical is just a straight up gentleman! I had been a goose chase to find new nose pads for my 8 yr old Porshe Design eyeglasses and nobody could help me at all - I walk into this store randomly and Terry pulls out an old ziplock bag full of the exact nose pads I needed!! His selection is 2nd to none and quite honestly - I'd spend money at his shop just to deal with him again! A true hidden gem - if you need glasses or know someone who does - Terry is THE man!! read more

I recommend Central Eyes Optical. My whole family, including my husband and I, and our two kids have been clients for about 9 years. Terry is extremely helpful and very professional. On numerous occasions we needed our glasses adjusted or fixed and Terry would do it either on the spot on in a very reasonable time. The store is open 7 days a week, which is quite convenient! Pricing depends on how much you want to spend. The store offers a selection of glasses that fit every pocket. read more
