I'll admit I was nervous making my appointment and coming here based on yelp reviews. Complete 5 stars from everyone screamed paid or begged for reviews. But after going in...I completely understand the perfect reviews. Immediately upon walking in I was greeted by Albert who was upbeat and pleasant. While waiting to get my eyes checked, he helped me start picking out frames. And he did so without any pressure towards expensive frames or even to purchase any but just to help find ones that fit my face (his female coworker whose name i can't remember *sorry* was equally amazing). After a few minutes I had my eyes checked by the optometrist who was thorough and kind. Then I went and settled on the frames I wanted. They had great sales on frames, so much I got 2 pairs. I originally posted a 5 star review a while ago and deleted it. I really wanted to support a small business, but I can't he quiet anymore. 3 years ago, I bought two "designer" glasses from this place- Prada and Tom Ford. I was ecstatic and so happy to finally be taking care of myself and my eyesight especially as a teacher in the Bronx who is overworked and forgets to do so. The owner and doctor there were really nice, and they had great customer service, which left me feeling really good. They even fixed a lens that had this weird purple film on it that showed up later for free, and when I came back to mention I didn't get designer cases that came with my glasses... They just gave me two random "designer" cases. But, something just kept feeling off about my glasses. They didn't come in their nice designer boxes and didn't feel like they were high quality like real designer glasses are. The owner also had told me he went to China to see if he could design his own glasses. So, my thoughts just kept going and going, and as a business owner myself, I know the importance of ethical business especially because your business is not just in a rich place in Manhattan. You are ripping people off in the Bronx. I paid $800 for two pairs of designer glasses. I touched and felt my friend's pairs of designer glasses and mine felt so cheap in comparison. I finally decided to send pictures to authenticate them to Prada and Tom Ford, and I took them to the stores. I would never want to ruin anyone's business, but just the possibility of someone buying fake glasses in China for $20 and selling them with lenses for $400 just rubs me the wrong way. I finally saved enough money again to buy new glasses and contacts at Costco, and I'm so much happier! It took me that long to decide to invest again in new glasses because the ones I bought at this place were overpriced, and I really can't believe I bought two. My new Prada glasses from Costco feel so real and high quality. They came in the actual case they should come and with the serial number and everything. So all I would have to say is proceed with caution. They're super nice people and give great service, but I question the ethics of the business and the authenticity of the glasses. read more

Dishonest people! Nearly took my husband for a ride when they tried to convince him to use up his allotted $200 from the insurance towards the eye exam. They even went online to his insurance page to see and claimed it was the case. No IT IS NOT! ""$0 copay for 1 routine eye exam and $200 allowance for eyewear to help protect your eyesight and health."" is what's on the insurance page and we even called them up and they confirmed this to be the case. Some locales like this will allow the insurance for the eyewear but not for the exam. These people are trying to game the system by not being honest with possible customers. All they had to do was let him know to go elsewhere to get his prescription and come back to pick out glasses. Something he MIGHT have seriously considered. Instead they've now got a bad reputation and we'll be happy to spread the word to others in this neighborhood about it. Shame on these people! read more

The Eye Dr. Is only in on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Made my Appointment for The Following Wednesday, 3PM. I woke with 'Nessie", who was The most helpful person I was glad to meet. My experience was great. I picked up my glasses last Friday I tried them on but found an little discomfort because there are three prescriptions within the glassess which now I ininthink I didn't needed. When I went outside to go across the street I got an instant headache. Once I finished doing what I had to do I went back and explain my discomfort. The young lady who assist me with picking up the glasses explaining that the glasses were progressive which meant that I had to look thru the glasses an certain way. She went over somethings and told me to try them out for an week to see how they felt. The first timeI I came in for the appointment I had my glasses that I had less than an year but the left temple (arm) came off and I wanted to see if it could be fix but it couldn't . So now I needed another pair. After the eye exam the owner provided info on the eyes , what the numbers meant from the exam and other info which was informative. He held up my old pair and said that they were progressive. Tomorrow will make an week and I think the prescription is too strong. My eye sight without them seems blurry and tried. From walking into the store to the end custom service was great but there may be an problem with the prescription. Will be giving them an call for an appointment. . read more

When I went to get the lenses of my glasses updated, I was told the wait would be about 30 minutes. So I thought I would come by before work. I waited an hour and 15 minutes for my glasses, and when they came, the measurements of the lenses were completely off. My vision was completely warped! I have been wearing glasses for years and this has never happened to me before nor to anyone that I know. I have to reorder the lenses and wait another week or so for the new lenses to arrive. Last year (August 2019) I took my daughter here to get single vision glasses. For an exam and glasses I paid 100 dollars. Fast forward to July 2020 I bring my other daughter for an exam and glasses and the following happened: the exam went well however we asked about the deal for the glasses after everything we were first told it would be 356 dollars. After taking some of the items off it was 298 dollars. We decided to not purchase them there. I asked for the prescription including the pupillary distance and I was told that they wouldn't give it to me even though I paid for it. However a week prior I was able to obtain my other daughter's entire prescription including the pupillary distance. Not only am I upset but the lack of empathy and quite frankly respect is ridiculous. Yes If I paid for an exam you should give me what I paid for. I will never go here again! I do lot recommend this place at all. It's a shame because my previous experience was great. read more

With that being said, I know my vision has been getting worse and that I needed new glasses, however I didn't want to pay crazy corporate prices. This review is long overdue and very much deserved! They say everything happens for a reason and this situation certainly did. I usually do my homework on most everything I purchase however this time I didn't and paid the price. Randomly passed though Parkchester and stopped in at an eyeglasses store without checking their reviews, how I wish I did or I would of kept on moving without giving that place a second look. Went in, saw a frame I thought liked from their small selection of frames and in my price range (lost previous high end glasses and due to my changing diabetic vision didn't want to spend a lot) was offered their promotion of buy one get half off. Now, my prescription isn't that high that it required even with their so called discount and that of my insurance a cost of over a month's rent of over $1100!!! Of course I wasn't prepared for that pricing and apparently it was expected of me to leave a nice size deposit. I informed the robotic salesperson I will be back with a deposit however apparently I wasn't supposed to leave without leaving their deposit so I was asked to call my spouse on his job to get his CC info or run my credit to make the payment. Or if I have an available CC I can pay for everything there. First of all, I like the frames but weren't crazy about it. I wanted to think about it a little bit more. If I was going to spend that money it better be on something I LOVE. Second, the cost still didn't add up considering it wasn't a brand name frame on the glasses or very high vision lenses. The second pair was a sunglasses which was $500 by itself no lens and is sold elsewhere at half that price. Apparently I wasn't the only one to question the price as being the only customer in a quiet store, I unintentionally overheard a customer who placed an order call in and ask for a break down of the price from the person who was helping me as it seem overpriced with their insurance and discount as well. Anyway, a very long story short since this review is NOT about them, left their store with a small deposit, sour faces behind the counter and another payment to them on the phone when I got home. Feeling uneasy about this place I decided to yelp them and indeed their business practice speaks for itself with such low ratings. I hate to feel suckered into a sale. Lesson learned!!! However thanks to them I found one of the most honest, highest rated eye wear store. While going through their reviews Change Iwear caught my eye with their perfect reviews. I called them up and within a few felt this is the place I need to take my business and my instinct definitely didn't disappoint. I could tell of Albert's honesty when we spoke on the phone and even more when I went in. No pressure sales. Very humble and so is the other staff. I went in to order a new pair of glasses. I was told that they had to order them since they were out of stock in store and it would take 5-7 business days. I said okay no problem. The frames that I wanted wound up being on back order. Albert offered me two options- I can pick another pair at any price and keep those instead or he would give me a much less costing pair for free to have and wear until my order came in. I choose the free pair which were just as nice as the Gucci ones i originally ordered. I waited about 2 weeks for the Gucci ones to come in but had a great replacement in the mean time. Obviously you're looking to buy glasses, right? Go there. Not in the Bronx? Go anyway. The trip won't kill you. And now, back to monitoring your Facebook feed. I'm not old enough to have experienced it first hand, but I hear tell that people in the sales arena used to achieve success by fostering relationships with their customers; doing things like listing to the customer and trying to work out what will satisfy them, trying to make sure customers don't waste their money. These salespeople-of-old might not get the maximum pay-out out of every customer, but those customers were more likely to give them repeat business and to refer their friends. Despite Albert being to pass for an 19-year-old, he runs a decidedly old-school style business. I'm what some business owners might consider a "difficult customer": Before I walk in the door I've done some research and I'm looking to supplement whatever knowledge I couldn't get from the Internet; I'm inversely impressed with popular brands; I hate sales pitches; and, perhaps worst-of-all, I'm one of those people who wants value-for-money. It's not often that a business owner is willing to act as a partner in exploring my consumer options. Normally I can expect that A, B, and C "best-selling" things will get pushed as the only viable options; this in no way ensures that I get what's best for me, but I'm supposed to be satisfied that I'm not any worse-off than the many who pushed into making the same choice. So I walk into a business knowing that an individualistic mindset isn't much appreciated. I'll admit that as a customer I was handful: there was a lot of information-gathering that had to be done, I showed up with my own frames, and the first set of glasses made didn't work out. (If you need proof that a warranty will be honored--with alacrity--you only need consider the ease with which I was able to replace sunglass lenses which had developed scratches after only days of use.) Came in today for my eye exam. Albert, the store manager was very welcoming and attentive. The doctor was sweet abd intelligent. She answered all my questions thoroughly. I am really nearsighted, so my prescription is really high. Albert picked out the best frames to go along with my prescription. He showed me at least 50 frames before picking one out! Which I have to admit was really patient and kind with me, and also has a great sense of humor.
