I had a very disappointing experience yesterday as a first time customer. I called to say I would be 5 to 10 minutes late for my 5:30 PM appointment, but they refused to see me because they close at 6:00. They claimed the exam takes 25 minutes, which has not been my experience elsewhere. It is clear they care more about hitting the exit door than helping a new patient who was ready to buy a nice pair of frames. They tried to reschedule me for tomorrow, but I declined. I will be taking my business to an office that actually values its customers. read more

Horrible service. I bunch of kids and some older, who know nothing about eyeglasses or customer service. Don't waste your time!

The staff rushed us from the minute we walked in. We had to ask to try on my glasses and the staff member would keep interrupting us to get our prescription and insurance information. We were done in less than 6 minutes. And after we paid, she said "ok good bye" and left the front desk not even waiting for us to ask any other questions. We were told they would call us when the glasses are ready for pick up. I've had to call 3 times to finally get someone to check. They kept saying they'd check and call back. But we got no calls and apparently they've been ready since I've been calling to ask if they're ready. I work with opticians a lot. And the staff here are unfortunately difficult to work with and I will not be recommending them to my patients. read more

These guys are the best. Helpful, knowledgeable and very kind. I went in there yesterday with my mom, who asked a lot of questions. Chris was so patient with her. In fact, I went in there to buy progressive lenses and frames, and he encouraged us to wait a few weeks until her surgery healed so he could better judge her needs. Point being, he spent all that time with her and we walked out of there without spending any money. Aside from great customer service, the Dr. Linda Collins is terrific, and, they have a huge assortment of the latest frames. If they don't have what you're looking for, they will order it. Rich has also been extremely helpful to me in the past. I highly recommend this business. read more

I initially contacted his company by phone to inquire if they accepted my insurance. When the representative confirmed that my insurance was accepted I made an appointment. When I showed for my appointment I again sought confirmation on whether my insurance was accepted and what was covered. At this point the receptionist told me she was unsure and referred me to a supervisor who asked to hold my forms while he inquired further. However, I went ahead with her appointment because I was assured that the basic exam was covered. The exam itself was comfortable and thorough. Afterwards, I picked my frames and was instructed to wait for a call to pick up my glasses. When I was contacted to return for my glasses, I inquired about the forms I left but obvious no ne actually look into my question. The service was good but I don't plan to return in the future. My questions were clearly not very important to them, and I'd feel more comfortable with a business that actually is interested in responding to their customers questions and concerns. read more

They do not answer their telephone. You can call for days and days and only get a recording saying that they're busy helping other customers. I've been purchasing contacts from this place for years and somehow they continuously mess up my contact order. I'm writing a review because I'm just baffled at this point Today I left the house and realized I could barely see! This is the fourth (yes fourth) time I've received something completely different than what I ordered, aka the unchanging contacts I have correctly received at times. I originally stopped getting eye exams here because after the last exam the ophthalmologist said to me, "try these out and see how they work."That was in reference to prescription contacts. You just gave me an eye exam! Why are you guessing? Also note the prescription she told me to give a go was not the correct lens for my eyes. Afterwards, I went to the New Rochelle location (they are coherent) and got the correct contact prescription. Sent it over to Yonkers (convent proximity wise) and have had nothing but frustration the years following. read more

I came to this location after the new rochelle location was unable to operate due to no A/C. I was called in plenty of time and informed about the situation and they were so nice to schedule me at the Yonkers location. This was my first time going into Raymond Opticians and I am so glad I made an appointment. Everyone was so nice and warm. The wait time for the doctor wasn't bad at all. In addition, the doctor was so friendly and knowledgeable. And to top it off, Jessica was AMAZING! What a sweetheart ! This whole experience is a true testament to the value and importance of customer service!!!! Take note other places... Raymond Opticians know what they are doing!!! Not the happiest I've ever been with glasses. Sure, they're new and the prescription (obtained elsewhere) is correct but my glasses are loose and don't feel new. I've tightened them but they're still wobbly and it makes me wonder if these frames are even new or if they're the ones from the display case. The people working here are friendly enough but I am not thrilled with the quality of my glasses. I may not return for the next pair. read more

I arrived about an hour before closing on a recent Saturday. I was not a previous customer, but my doctor's office had highly recommended them when the side piece on my only pair of back-up glasses broke off. Chris immediately and cheerfully undertook my project. The piece was beyond repair, so he began the search to find replacement frames on the premises. It took almost the entire hour to find the right pair and insert my lenses. I basically came out with a new pair of glasses at an incredibly reasonable price. Been using RAYMOND OPTICAL, in Mamaroneck and then Brewster for 25+ years and never had an issue. Recently Brewster changed hands and is terrible. My glasses are not cheap and I get a new paid every year. Well last pair I got, I could not use, the progressive lens was wrong or the exam was wrong and they fixed 3 times with no success, now they are telling me tough luck!! Really, I know this is a joke, 25+ years, my whole family uses them, time are changing and time to move on Rich, shame on you that your staff can tell me sorry nothing we can do read more

If you like to be treated well, don't go to this establishment. Sign in sheet has an impersonal feel and the employees walk by you without acknowledgement that you're waiting. I wanted to get a very simple change of nose-pad on my eye glasses and after a lengthy wait, the employee changed the pads to two that did not even match. I had to wait again for someone else to do the process again, who of course, didn't have the time to acknowledge my inconvenience or even ask if I was satisfied with what was provided. I will be going elsewhere for all future servicing and optical purchases and recommend you do the same. read more

I had an appointment for over 2 months and was called two days before my appointment and told they don't take morning appointments. This appointment was made 2 months in advance by Raymond's. When I was called I was asked to move my appointment as they don't do morning appointments I explained the situation and was told I would get a call back and haven't heard from them since.I even had called the week before my appointment trying to see if they had a different day or time and they stated only in October and if I didn't want that I would have to keep my appointment . Thank you for the excellent customer service provided by John, and the on-site optometrist Dr Marks (sp?). There was a concern my new lenses did not have the correct strength prescription (Rx obtained elsewhere) and they went out of their way to accommodate. John offered to but my old lenses in for the time being, and Dr Marks did a very thorough exam to confirm my Rx was correct and provide an alternate strength recommendation if I did not tolerate the new stronger Rx after a trial period to get used to them. Gave this place a second chance after not getting my lenses on my glasses right a few years ago. But after this time one done, came to pick up my glasses, sign clearly says 7:00 pm closing on a rainy night in February 6:50 pm doors closed, workers pretending they can't see me at the door, even ignored after I knocked, walked in the back. I saw a Dr. Collins and I felt that she rushed my eye exam. I barely got to look at the images before she moved on to the next. She also made a comment about my age and vision, which I did not quite like. She handed me some papers for the front staff and they were unclear on what she wrote. Rather than going to her to ask, they asked other coworkers what they thought she meant on the prescription or order. She recommended glasses for when I drive for distance and night driving, I selected frames and never heard back from them again. This was in December and it is now April. I did not bother to call them to inquire about the glasses since I was dissatisfied with the doctor's service. The staff was friendly and appeared to perhaps be frightened to go ask Dr. Collins for clarification. At least that is the impression that I got. read more

The best in Westchester! I want to thank Ray and the staff at the Yonkers location for the prompt courteous assistance I recently received. I brought in my sunglasses because a lens kept popping out and the frame was bent. I figured I would have wait a while and then to leave them for a week. One minute after I signed in a very nice guy came out, heard what I needed and disappeared into the back with my glasses. He was back in 5 minutes and my sunglasses are like new! How much $? No charge!!! I have been a customer of Raymond Opticians for over 30 years. I have occasionally tried other stores because Of convenience to my work location but EACH time the other place lacked the quality of service I experienced in Raymond's. We had the last 2 appt slots for the day and he graciously stayed one hour after closing without rushing us to ensure he gave us exactly what we wanted and needed. My glasses came out fine, which is why this isn't a 1-star review. But this place has no respect for people's time. I dropped off a pair of frames for which I needed new lenses. I was told this would take AT MOST 1 week. 6 days later, I hadn't heard anything. So I called. I was told my glasses would be ready by opening (10AM) the next day, a full week after I dropped off my frames. I get to the store, and was asked whether anyone had called to tell me my glasses were ready. I relayed my conversation from the day before. After going to the back again, the employee told me my lenses were finished, they just needed to be polished. 30 or so minutes later they were ready. Quite obviously, they made the lenses while I sat there. Save yourself the time and aggravation, just use warby parker, they charge the same for new frames AND lenses as Raymond's charges just for lenses. read more

I took my daughter (12) for a contact exam and was really surprised with the great customer service. The Dr was kind and answered all my questions and even checked up how she was doing with putting in the contacts. Kevin taught my daughter how to put them in and was so patient and encouraging! He really explained everything fully and taught her to have confidence in doing it herself. She picked it up very quickly and was so proud of herself. I highly recommend them! read more

The employees are rude and unprofessional. Never had to go through such a hassle just to pick up contacts. They laugh right at you on the phone. I'll go to another optician where they have good customer service. Racist people working there dying waste your time if you want good service. I respectfully disagree with Rick R. I've been a customer for 6 years and, while they are often quite busy, they ALWAYS give the time and attention needed to ensure that the patron leaves satisfied. And, if you become dissatisfied at any point after leave, they work hard to make it right. I've even brought in glasses for adjustments or screw replacements....but I didn't buy the glasses there. The "sign-in" is not impersonal at all, but is fair and considerate of people's time. I simply write my first name and feel that I can browse without worrying that 6 people will be served ahead of me. Again, Raymond's is so busy, how else can they keep track of who is next? If it's not busy, they don't make you sign-in and simply help as you approach the reception desk. Just today when I picked up glasses, Erica was so patient and accommodating when I didn't like the tint. I didn't ask, but she offered to change it. Ultimately, I decided to change the frame entirely, and she never deviated from her calm, helpful disposition....and never made me feel that I was an annoyance....or that she was too busy to ensure my satisfaction. When I told the manager that Erica deserved a raise, he told me that she just had dental surgery....and came to work anyway. That's the kind of care and service that has defined my experience at Raymond's. read more

She was asking Rodney about my order and just told her my name and said I wasn't speaking to you. Meanwhile, it was about my order! I was mortified on how she answered me. I brought my daughter (3) in for eyeglasses after searching everywhere for an optician that specializes in young children. Rodney helped us on our visit and he is very knowledgeable about eyeglasses for children and how to fit them properly. He was also very patient and great with my 3 yo daughter. Let me start off with day one I insisted to not get an eye examine but they wouldn't take me so I said fine just don't change my script I see perfect with these glasses just need new ones. Well they changed them anyway and ARGUED that they were the same as my old ones. Finally they checked with a different machine and realize the one with the eye attached to her was correct. When my new glasses came in I told them I paid for transitions and antiglare b and back my glasses went. I also ordered contacts (my plan gives me 2 glasses or one of each every year) I was told for a year supply I would have to pay a total of $448 for the contact so I did. When I picked them up I asked why there was only 8 boxes when I order a year supply. Another argument ensued about how many months were in a year (I won with 12 SMH) long story short I have to fight with the insurance company to get glasses from somewhere else and I only have an 8 month supply of contacts. Oh by the way if u venture here anyway they will not call when your stuff is ready so you have to call them! read more

We were very pleased with the service we received at Raymond's. We purchased frames and lenses in March 2013 for my son (toddler). We were told that the glasses had a one year manufacturer's warranty on them. When my son broke one of the arms off of the glasses a few months later, I took the glasses in to request a replacement. After waiting three weeks, we were told that the company stopped making the frame that we originally purchased and that a replacement frame was not available. I was a little frustrated with this response. However a few hours later, we received a phone call from Raymond's telling us to bring the glasses in and they would try to fit the lenses to another frame. They were able to find frames that were very similar to the original that fit the lenses perfectly. We did not have to pay any additional money. Phew! Thanks Raymond's! read more
